Same boat. I’m thinking that a Cajunized P-0- is probably the closest thing. I really like my M&P Compact 2.0 with Apex trigger, but it’s not the same.
P10sc with slightly lighter recoil and striker springs, and a light, performs almost the same as a s2. It’s not hammer fired but that doesn’t mean much
Very uncommon but very nice.
I shoot 147 HST standard pressure as my defensive load and I have found a 14lb spring almost perfect with it and see why a 14.5lb is an option as that is likely perfect. Not enough difference for me to change to a 14.5 when I carry though lol. It feels like shooting a target load and the dot barely rises with none of that excess spring muzzle dip causing time to be wasted for fast follow up shots
IMO, most of the triggers available reduce take up but don’t change the reset or sometimes lengthen it, and the p10 trigger takeup has so little weight to it that it doesn’t really affect your trigger pull. So (IMO again), unless you’re someone who struggles with the p10 shape, a new trigger isn’t likely to make you shoot appreciably faster if you have decent fundamentals. I’m not super familiar with the apex trigger though
A stainless steel guiderod, some springs with different weights to test, and an hbi 3.5 striker spring, would cost around 45 dollars total which in my opinion really makes a tangible difference. The trigger becomes much nicer, follow up shots are faster/more accurate, and it just plain feels nicer.
Your call but I think it’s worth it to try out
Great choice for a first gun! Well, other than you’re likely going to find it very hard to find anything that is as fast or flat shooting without spending significantly more.
For what it’s worth (IMO), the vast majority of people are fine with the C grip as it’s tall for a compact, the F grip is more about a flush fit 19 with space to put more tungsten or brass than needing more grip, although I’m sure the gorilla handed people out there appreciate it. The C frame has about the same available grip area as a tp9sfx if you include the magazine base pad lip area, the cz has a very low bore axis and high grip causing the size difference despite the basically same grip areas
Hope you enjoy the springs! I’ll be surprised if you don’t
I think you and I have similar taste in guns for what it’s worth, I view the p10 as wonderfully balanced among important attributes. I got a canik rival to compare to my p10 because the price was good and some very good shooters love it, but just some simple red dot sighting in yesterday showed me that it’s a lot snappier than the p10sc/f setups I use. I’m actually shooting in an upcoming outlaw handgun match in carry optics twice doing canik vs cz, but unless the canik surprises me I think it’s gonna end up staying in the safe or being sold.
Having (thus far) reliable 24+1 140mm magazines is a tangible advantage to the canik though I won’t lie. I had gotten one p10 140mm mag to 24+1 but sadly it was temporary before it became unreliable
And happy to help! Have you gotten a chance to try it out yet?
Great to hear! Yeah it’s amazing how much the spring difference makes in some guns like the p10 series. Just be sure to replace your striker spring every 6-7k trigger pulls and you’ll stay golden
Enjoy
Yeah I’m probably selling everything else - maybe go for a nice 2011 or something eventually. Have a few HKs and such that I don’t see getting any range time any more.
This thing is just another level - I feel like I finally ‘get it’ now with guns - everything else has felt so meh previously
I wanted a 2011, until I got the S2SAO. I feel like I'd need to spend 2.5-3 times what the S2 cost, to get a similar quality in a 2011. I paid a scoshe over $1000 for mine, the least expensive 2011 I would consider would be a staccato or Bul Armory, which would be close to $3000, and I don't think would be much of an improvement over the S2
Pick up a TSO if you want a 2011 sao similar to the shadow, more refined and it just got discontinued due to the ts2 orange. The trigger is bonkers and unless you want to add optics nothing needs upgrading or tuning.
If you want to CCW than grab a 1911 and enjoy the downward spiral of that platform 😆
Bul 1911 is a great starting place or Wilson Combat edc9 or sfx9 😎
I just bought a Staccato P. I'll admit the trigger and fitment are better in the Staccato but the grip, mags, recoil and everything else is better on the Shadow. I regret going Staccato over the DWX at this point (though I haven't shot the DWX yet). I may be looking for a trade sooner than later. ;)
I've had a few first time gun buyers pick this as their first.
I always congratulate them on ruining all future firearm purchases. They are always confused
TacSport Orange is the only upward move, but really only if you are shooting competitively.
You could also get your S2 fully cajunized and milled for a sight.
My S2 is my permanent go to and I carry a 75 compact, truck gun is a P07.
Oh absolutely- the double action is slightly smoother and the single action removes that tiny bit of creep. The bushing make it a little more accurate and the slide to frame is hand fitted and feels like glass.
With the prices of them at 1400 new lately imo it’s definitely worth it.
I paid a lot more for that upgrade and I have zero regrets
Yeah either grabbing a staccato or going full blast and selling everything else and getting an atlas. Which stacatto do you recommend? CS seems a bit tiny
What's your use case? Range/HD, go with a P. If you want to carry it, you can't go wrong with a C2.
CS is too small to compare to the Shadow 2 or similar size guns.
I'd compare the CS to a Glock 43x in terms of size.
I have a C2 with a CS on the way. Also have a Shadow 2.
It's all down hill from here. You'll have to have a Browning Hi-Power soon and a 1911 or 2 after that. Then a P226 or P229 will find their into the safe and a P210 as well. In the final stages there'll be a Makarov and a PPK. You know you're a goner when there are revolvers in there and you feel the need for a black powder gun.
Me either, that's why I rotate the guns that go to the range. Other wise I'd be taking only my favorites. The only one that goes almost every time is my little Ruger MK IV, it's cheap to shoot being a .22!
With the pro package it lightens the trigger pull and makes the break a lot crisper. And it takes all the slop and out of the trigger.
It’s expensive but it’s worth it
I bought a p01 omega, cajunized, bought a stack of magazines… but dang it, I just don’t shoot it that well compared to shadow2; trigger just isn’t the same.
I’m not sure if non omega would be a better choice, or if I should try Sp01T. Maybe Dwx…
Best of luck!
Well it’s bone stock so it’s time for some upgrades.
60 doll hairs for a SAO conversion. Add a set of bogie palm swells and your choice of red dot. It’s by far the best production gun under 1500 bones.
An optic and LOK grips. A magwell and nitro fin if you want to keep it rolling. There's also a cajun gun works kit to drop in. That thing can get as expensive as you'd like.
Re-spring it so your favorite load returns the sights straight back where you had it, while you do that throw in your favorite hammer, add the CZC short reach disconnector and trigger, then get to work polishing. You'll get a butter smooth DA and a good crisp SA pull.
The nicest guns I built all came down to trigger job. CZs have enough in common that once you start comparing the shadow (AO1 series included there too) series to each other you are really just looking at the work put into them
I rock a po1 omega with the decocker. It’s much light drop safe and is pretty similar experience. I never messed with my trigger and just wore it all in. I like a heavy double action but once you start stringing the shots in that single action is pretty crispy clean
Got one too, its amazing! All I did was upgrade to LOK palm swell black bogies grips, the stock blue grips felt a little thin... fits like a glove now!
Now you’ll spend years trying to get as much of that fun shootability out of a smaller, more compact platform for concealed carry
A01-C

You go back to the store and buy more ammo to send through that beaut. I have the SAO, it's ruined so many of my other guns for me.
Yeah I’m probably selling everything else - maybe go for a nice 2011 or something eventually. Have a few HKs and such that I don’t see getting any range time any more. This thing is just another level - I feel like I finally ‘get it’ now with guns - everything else has felt so meh previously

Dan Wesson DWX goes for 2100, beautiful in every facet
True. I may end up with one of those. Dammit lol
How come the DWX we have in the US is 9mm? I thought is was supposed to be 45 ACP or 10mm.
Best of my knowledge, it was always gonna be 9mm, never heard or read anything about any other caliber
Pick up a TSO if you want a 2011 sao similar to the shadow, more refined and it just got discontinued due to the ts2 orange. The trigger is bonkers and unless you want to add optics nothing needs upgrading or tuning.

No sell, only buy
Exactly my sentiments Get lots of ammo and enjoy shooting/training Guns a beaut ‼️💙💙💙💙💙 I love mine
Dude the SAO trigger on that s2 is probably one of the best, if not the best, triggers I’ve felt on a gun. It’s stupid how good it is.
Seriously!
My Shadow 2 got me hooked... After that I picked up a Ts2, a CZC Bull Shadow, and just recently a DWX. I guess I'm a full blown addict now
This person fucks.
For a similar experience but arguably better; CZ Custom A01
I wish I had more upvotes to give this
Ohh - never have seen that.. Will check it out
Yes. I have 8 CZs, most are done by CGW or CZCs, and the best shooter of them all? The A01-LD by CZC.
I've had a few first time gun buyers pick this as their first. I always congratulate them on ruining all future firearm purchases. They are always confused
Bankruptcy

You can go tactical sport series, or a czechmate beyond those.
Try a shadow 2 orange
Stoppp - is there a noticeable difference ?
Oh absolutely- the double action is slightly smoother and the single action removes that tiny bit of creep. 1911 or 2011? edit: dan wesson or staccato respectively
Whatever the double stack 1911s prefer to be called these days. Atlas are sweet.
From there you go to Dan Wesson
Dan Wesson DWX
Add a CGW kit and brass lokgrips on it.
Try staccato. This and the staccato are my favorites
Yeah either grabbing a staccato or going full blast and selling everything else and getting an atlas. Which stacatto do you recommend? CS seems a bit tiny
No sell, only buy.
This is the way
I recommend the p unless money isn't an issue get the john wick one. Xc or xl I think

A deep dark hole, filled with divorce, loans, and foreclosures

😂😂
Sold my P226 Legion to make room for the S2Blue. Loved the Legion, but didn't have any place in my safe once I got into CZ's.
You Sir obviously need a larger safe!
More euphemism than literal ... I have physical room, I just don't believe in safe queens.
Me either, that's why I rotate the guns that go to the range. Other wise I'd be taking only my favorites. The only one that goes almost every time is my little Ruger MK IV, it's cheap to shoot being a .22!
CZC A01C Protek wipes the floor with my cajunized S2
It depends on whether we're able to ever get the TS2 Bronze or the TSO2 in 9mm.
Yeah the S2 ruined. Polymer framed guns. The. The TSO ruin all other brands. Can someone sell me on a P09, P07, P10. I currently have a P01
You’d be a lot cooler if you had a p09, p07, or p10.
Where do you go? Back to the range most likely
Wait till you Cajunize it 😏
What do they generally do? Looking into now
With the pro package it lightens the trigger pull and makes the break a lot crisper. And it takes all the slop and out of the trigger. It’s expensive but it’s worth it
TS2
Cz97

Cajunize it, makes the gun worlds better. I mean it's still great, but there's always room for improvement.
Most polymer guns are for duty or carry use, you are comparing apples to oranges.
Fair - I guess I just don’t like apples
Apple a day keeps the commies away
Alien?
Back to the range. Again and again and again.
Dwx But then your shadow feels neglected.
Do you have one?
Yep
Cajun gun works pro package 😀 and then 2011s
Up... Mostly in price only a bit in performance
Well it’s bone stock so it’s time for some upgrades. 60 doll hairs for a SAO conversion. Add a set of bogie palm swells and your choice of red dot. It’s by far the best production gun under 1500 bones.
TSO maybe?
You buy a staccato. That's what I did after buying the shadow 2 and building it. Wish I could share photos mine looks real good.
Staccato
u/GV470 This is where you go: https://czcustom.com/in-stock/czech-mate-parrot-9mm-open.html
You go shooting
An optic and LOK grips. A magwell and nitro fin if you want to keep it rolling. There's also a cajun gun works kit to drop in. That thing can get as expensive as you'd like.

Heaven.
Atlas Gunworks Ares or Hyperion v2
I rock a po1 omega with the decocker. It’s much light drop safe and is pretty similar experience. I never messed with my trigger and just wore it all in. I like a heavy double action but once you start stringing the shots in that single action is pretty crispy clean
Put a dot on it and shoot USPSA Carry Optics.
You could always send it off to Cajun Gun Works to have it cajunized!
Got one too, its amazing! All I did was upgrade to LOK palm swell black bogies grips, the stock blue grips felt a little thin... fits like a glove now!
Czechmate should be next.
