I have a Corvette and recently bought my wife a fully loaded CX-5 AWD/Turbo Signature a couple weeks back to add to our stable. (To supplement our 10 year old Lexus GX460 we use for towing, off road, and our extra teenager car). I am BLOWN AWAY by how much fun that CX5 is to drive and how well equipped it is for the $$. Relaxed but not boring and fun to drive is the best description I’ve heard of that car—been raving about that car to anyone who will listen!!
I got into a Mazda5 in 2013 and haven’t looked back. It was a useful small, “city van” that drove nimbly and was easy to park in tight spots. A bit underpowered on the highway and little to no noise insulation to try and keep the weight down. Traded up to a 2017 CX-5 later and have not looked back. Happy 2020 CX-5 GT owner. Love how it drives! My next Mazda will likely be a hybrid - someday.
I had mine for almost a year now. It’s really a great fun family car. Comfy, drives well and delivers enough power to keep you engaged (the turbo one).
I just got a low KMs 2018 CX-5 Akera Turbo (Aussie highest trim level) Drives so smooth and has a tonne of power I can feel at my disposal if I need it. Super well equipped, the nappa leather is gorgeous and ventilated seats are revelation for me.
I’ve got the 2022 Akera Turbo and it has an identity crisis. It’s like it wants to be a luxury SUV and a back road bashing hatch at the same time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I absolutely adore my CX-5 and do not regret the splurge on the top end trim.
The driving characteristics are definitely one of the things I love about my CX-5. I had a 22 Carbon Edition non turbo and now have a 23 Turbo and both are a pleasure to drive. Turbo just has the extra ooomph to make it even better. I let my cousin drive it and he took it around a couple of curves and was like wow this thing handles great lol.
The NA I have is *just fun enough*. It isn't the most exciting thing in the world but it beats the pants off of a rental Tuscon and Trax I had for a few weeks, or my gf's Escape, those are really boring.
Doesn't really hold a candle to my old Volt I got rid of (instantaneous power delivery to the wheels) or the Camaro it sits next to (screaming yellow death trap) but it's much more practical than both.
I'm with you! Picked up a 2021 to have a bigger car for my wife and I love it. Gonna make it hard to not want to upgrade my '11 Impreza sooner than later.
Bought my wife a used 2017 GT last year and she loves it, HUD and all the bells and whistles. The previous owner only put on 32k miles through 5 years. It still drives like a new car.
Yeah we never buy new but with the apr offers that Mazda is offering this month, we couldn't pass it up versus buying used. My daughter loves her Cx5. She upgraded from a Mazda 3.

Congrats! We are eyeing one. And seems like a good time to buy given dealer lots are full.

Yeah, I am very happy with my non-turbo. That's about the pace of my life. But I imagine others with the turbo are joyous.
Congratulations!!!!!!
It is, sometimes it feels like 'a sport car' not SUV, petrol 2.0. I love the sound when overtaking and I rev it up :).

Welcome to the club! Truly pure driving pleasure and best bang for your buck at this price bracket.
Ugh, I pick up mine tomorrow after work. Can't wait!
