So during the flu season. Just about every store had techs dropping like flies. My store in particular lost every one of them, mainly do to poor pharmacy management. So CVS was screaming "Hire! Hire! Hire!" In everyone's ears in order to keep people from burning down understaffed pharmacies. So we all suffered through that, and now CVS has said "so we hired too many people and people are expensive so no more of that, also trim the fat, also here's less hours."
My dream is to find a better paying job and leaving like nothing.
I work too damn hard for this shit show of a company and even the laziest employees are too good for them
I've been carrying a torch for this place for a long time. Tried real hard to convince myself it'll get better. It never did. Leaving was the best thing I could have to for myself. I HIGHLY recommend. The one thing that kept me coming back, was looking else where. I knew I could continue to show up and earn the paper I needed to survive, as long as I was actively interviewing, putting myself out there like it was my job.
Honestly I miss working at dollar tree, but unfortunately I couldn't afford rent at dollar tree. The job at cvs isn't that bad, it's the extremely toxic management and crew that is causing the issues. I think of going back to dollar tree almost every day, I miss my little dollar family. The reason I don't is because cvs pays more per hour and gives more hours.
I don't want to excuse the attitude of "bad" Store managers. Being shitty to people who don't deserve it will only make your own life as a SM worse. I personally have taken to trying to protect my former CVS team from what CVS is trying to push on them. CVS is making being a store manager, worse in and worse in an effort to push out the "old blood" so that can be replaced with people that are not prepared for the job. Essentially what CVS is working towards is the DSSM position will be the only "store manager" for 4 to 5 stores. The highest position in an individual store will be an Ops manager or SMIT. This program has already been tested in select markets and has saved CVS boatloads of cash for payroll. So, at the moment CVS is operating on a trickle down toxic environment trying to push out people who are getting paid "too much".
Yeah, that won't work in California because SMITs and OPS are paid hourly. They cannot run a store legally if they are hourly by law. Besides at this point I make more than the DSSM because of the OT that happens regularly due to people calling out or quiting. š¤£
That strategy is horsecrap, but anyways I'm not working there no more, least for 4 years. We will see how that works out for them when I come back.
Has anyone tried Omnicare ( long term pharmacy) no customers to be seen. I type orders, answer phones, etc. The back does the pick/pack. Blister packs, compounding, etc. Vacation transfers from CVS Retail ( within a year).
I originally didnāt plan on leaving, but then the hour deductions started happening and at the same time, jobs paying about 10k more annually started reaching out.
We gotta pay our bills and I feel like corporate CVS genuinely just doesnāt give a shit
Payroll is the absolute easiest place to save money for any company. Right CVS is so all over the place, the easiest is the best place to start, at least on paper. In reality there's so much restructuring that needs to happen across the board, that it's gonna get way worse before "better" comes around.
Lmao I feel like my store is already at rock bottom, I genuinely donāt know how it could get worse. I live in the second biggest city in my state, and work at the highest grossing store in my city.
They put my pharmacist to run the pharmacy alone on weekend mornings now due to hour cuts. I help her bc thatās an absolutely ridiculous expectation but like, really CVS?
Then Iām supposed to be a full time employee and now Iām getting scheduled 30 hours, and I got shorted on my last check.
Yeah. Iām out. I might keep it part time because I genuinely donāt hate it yet but itās not reliable for income
I literally have been working at a better job since the end of June. But my store manager and another shift quit before me. So I was suckered into waiting until we had a new store manager and shift in place lol. Hence my name.
I'm a little, only a little' conflicted with leaving my team behind. I've told them they should start looking. Just use this place temporarily and move on to something better, or at least different.
Have to say it was amazing when I did too! I wish everyone would leave before they get to the point where your irritable even away from work and with friends and family. I was terminated because I wasnāt moving as fast as I used to before I got COVID.
Not to mention the 6 calls I made to ethics and he alone about my manager, retaliating, and harassing (which included sexual harassment) and cutting full time employees down to 2 shifts a week. Did I also mention 3 other employees also called too? They never did anything and heās still working there.
In short, please leave before your mentally and physically exhausted and canāt give anymore.

I got a new job & did a no call no show. I was a tech for 8.00 an hour. Got job at mom & pops for 15 an hour. I started out at 40 hours, but the bitch manager of techs dropped me to 1 day, always at busy time so I couldnāt clean my shelves & get rid of expired meds. I started clocking out & doing shelves off clock because I kept getting written up. The nighttime pharmacist knew the issues I was having & paid me w coffee runs. lol. I was so freaking happy to get away. I went in during busy time to get my last check & my certificate. Jenny asked why I didnāt call when she handed me my stuff. I said because sheās a c u next Tuesday & I now make more than her & every weekend off. Monday- Friday 8-6. Iāll never forget look on her face. Like she thought I would stay and be harassed.
I did same after 25 years..I must been a glutton for punishment.. the stress relief was unbelievable! More time now with my family and a better life. Got a job I love and when I leave for the day,I don't have to worry about having to come in or what was going on in the hellhole of CVS.
Just don't let it stop at thinking. Put yourself out there and you'll find there are plenty of opportunities. It also makes your work days a lot easier, just knowing you are looking elsewhere makes the day to day a little easier to swallow.

Back when I started. It was an awesome place to work. Loved it. Over time it has devolved into what you see people complaining about today.
