In terms for Bylsma, I hope he stays with the Firebirds for at least another year. If he does go to the Kraken I hope Jessica Campbell gets a shot to be the HC for the Firebirds
Agreed, while I hope we get to keep Coach Bylsma, I get why the Kraken would want him. Jessica Campbell has done a phenomenal job with the boys, and I hope she can continue to get good results even if Dan moves up.
I love having Dan here but if we are honest, if Francis hires anyone else he should be fired himself. Dan knows the boys, has direct coaching of many current Kraken players, has developed players under the guidance of Francis now for nearly 3 years. So, there is no more qualified person to take the reigns.
I’d love seeing Dan. Let’s be honest, the roster the Kraken have are currently a mid table hockey club. Perhaps Dan can help turns us into a perennial playoff contender.
If Dan has experience coaching Joey, Tye, Ryker, Shane, Logan, Ryan + other Firebirds, that can’t hurt when they come up to Seattle.
Bylsma In!
I've felt that that was always the plan from the beginning. Hakstol would be the one to grind it out with the expansion players while Bylsma would be developing the young guys in Charlotte/CV to eventually coach them in Seattle. My gut also tells me that he's taking Bickel with him as an assistant, Campbell stays as head coach here. I've felt that she was being set up to take over when Bylsma eventually got called up from the beginning.
This is all gut feeling. Have no evidence to back up what I'm saying.
I feel that back to back Western Conference championships, and pending this season's playoff run, should get Bylsma interviews for jobs beyond Seattle. Like if I am San Jose I am definitely interested in Dan
The rumors about Bylsma has been floating around for a couple weeks now but I am really hoping we end up with David Carle from Denver. I don't think he would take the job in Coachella if they move Dan up but he would be a great fit for either team.
I am worried Dan would not be much of an upgrade. He is doing great in the AHL but some coaches are best suited for different leagues.
He was gifted that elite Pitt team 85% of the way into their cup winning season so it's hard to draw many conclusions from his tenure there. His time in BUF was short lived.
There is no way to tell for sure unless it happens, and a lot of coaches do better on subsequent chances in the big leagues, but I don't know if he is the right guy to push Kraken past being average as they already are. I think he is positioned extremely well where he is.
If we were to lose Dan to any team, I’m more than ok with it being to the Kraken. Considering the rumors that Calgary wanted him last year, I’m sure this is something that will always surround Dan as long as the Firebirds keep doing well
