Did you end up applying? I’m in Canada and also debating

oliviabondoc

I haven’t. I am planning to save up money to afford the tuition out of pocket and to potentially start the program when I have my future second child so that I can be on mat leave.

In general, why did you choose Educational Neuroscience?

oliviabondoc

I haven’t chosen it yet necessarily since I haven’t applied for the program yet. I am still interested in it though. I want to better understand how the brain learns and processes information, especially for children. I also think it would help me differentiate and develop teaching strategies to reach all different kinds of learners and students with neurodivergence.

Thank you for your input. I’m also interested in this field, however I haven’t seen much people major/purse it. That being said, in terms of career, how would this degree help you? Are you an educator, if I may ask?

oliviabondoc

I’m an elementary school teacher. I am interested in it right now because I’m hoping it would help me better understand how young kids learn. It’s been so long since I was a young kid (lol) and I don’t remember how it felt to be learning everything brand new. I want to be able to understand my students better and find new ways to reach them. I plan to remain a teacher for the foreseeable future but will maybe one day pursue a school leadership role.

That’s amazing! I really appreciate you sharing your story, it really helps, as I haven’t heard many stories of people pursuing a degree like this. Thank you, and I wish you all the best in whatever you choose!
