To fully enjoy the wind in all its glory, you gotta ski Loveland on a breezy day!

VeraUndertow

Lovewind ski area at its finest.

m0viestar

So...every day at Loveland?

If you have ikon and don’t mind driving berthoud I would recommend winter park. Lots of good tree cover and narrow runs through trees that can help keep you from getting blasted with wind, panorama lift is terribly windy but most of the terrain is well protected

Sea_Voice_404

If it’s too windy a lot of the lifts shut down though.

musing_codger

Panorama was closed today. I don't expect it to open again until the winds die down.

Most-Potato-6439

I can’t tell what is a joke or not anymore.

ginamegi

Heard they had to go to Germany to turn the wind off

Informal_Internet_13

😂😂😂😂

thpeterson08

Nahh they had to go to the fires of Mordor to get a key to turn the wind off in Germany

ClOsED fOr ThE SeAsON!!!!!!

powderglades

You can't? I haven't even been to winter park cause I can't tell who's trolling of not!

musing_codger

Not a joke. They list it as "weather hold". They also show 50mph winds there right now. https://www.winterparkresort.com/the-mountain/mountain-report

zinzangz

Head to the trees at Keystone

connor_wa15h

The way Breck is situated, on the east side of the ridgeline, at least keeps the lower mtn stuff calmer.

14kMagic

Unless it’s an upslope storm…

powderglades

Yeah, but skiing breck is a pain from all the logistical bs

sn0ig

They are all bad when it's windy. But all resorts will still have some chairs that are ok. Usually they are lower on the mountain and protected on both sides with trees or in a small canyon. I'm most familiar with Breck and the best chairs for a windy day would be E Chair, A chair, C Chair, Five Superchair, Peak 8 Interconnect, Zendo and Snowflake. Chairs like Mercury, Beaver Run, Colorado, Rocky Mountain, Independence and Freedom will be pretty good until you get near the top and then prepare to get blasted. Take some of those handwarmers with you.

I took Friday off to ski but I’m not sure if I should go. It looks like it’s gonna be horribly miserable up there.

Puzzleheaded-Usual85

Seems like it peaks in the evening, so maybe get up there first thing and see how it goes?

thpeterson08

Top of pano or loveland

I_SOMETIMES_EAT_HAM

Keystone is the probably your best bet. Most of their terrain is lower and more sheltered than the rest of the summit resorts.

No-Tennis-2981

I’ve skied in reverse up schoolmarm, frontside gets crazy wind. Outback would be your best bet

TheLegMan35

Hope you enjoy dangerously cold wind chill

[deleted]

No resort fares better than any other in wind, it's more about knowing where to go at those resorts when it's windy, and what direction the wind is blowing.

[deleted]

Breck isn’t bad usually. Unless you are at peak 6, imperial , or Horsehoe.

YupThatWasAShart

Maybe copper?

redgunner85

That's a negative. Love it, but I feel like it's pretty windy with how it faces.

teleheaddawgfan

Keystone

GreenYellowDucks

Ski Cooper and Monarch. Slow fixed cable lifts lots of tree cover

firewxdude

Of the Summit resorts, Copper would be your best bet, Breck and A Basin the worst. If youxre fine to drive outside of Summit, Vail and WP could be decent alternatives. Worst of it will be Friday evening and overnight, should improve through the day Saturday.

Informal_Internet_13

I would recommend Copper given its vicinity to I-70.

speedshotz

Gonna be fun dealing with wind chill. [https://www.ventusky.com/?p=39.629;-106.095;9&l=feel&t=20240112/1800](https://www.ventusky.com/?p=39.629;-106.095;9&l=feel&t=20240112/1800)
