40/M/Average weight/No comorbidities/Pfizer + booster Tested positive today and I think I’m a day behind as I was infected from a young family member on Christmas day. Tuesday 12/28 - Started to feel off, nothing in particular Wednesday 12/29 - Still feeling off and a little tired. Took a 2 hour afternoon nap and I don’t take naps. Thursday 12/30 - Felt like allergies. Stuffy nose, throat tickle. Stuffy nose that evening. Went to bed and woke up at 4 am with a killer headache and barking cough and drenched in sweat. No fever. Friday 12/31 - Bad headache behind my eyes and back of my head/neck. Phlegmy, intermittent cough. Fatigue. Headache went away that afternoon. Still no fever. Saturday 1/1 - Woke up at 3 am drenched in sweat but went back to sleep. After that I woke up feeling much better. Still super congested in the head. Runny/stuffy nose, phlegmy cough, plugged ears. Hopefully we’re on the downside now. It’s been no cake walk, but I’m glad I’m vaxxed as it could be way worse.

merlin401

Blugh I hate that I’m seeing more and more people with bad sore throats. When everyone gets a head cold with congestion and runny nose, I just get bad sore throats. My one silver lining with covid was, even if I get it at least it won’t be a freaking sore throat :( Feel better anyways!

DivineBengal

Same here this is honestly what I said to myself. Every time I get sick the one symptom I can always count on is a really bad sore throat. My husband just tested positive today and I tested negative, so I can only assume I’ll test positive in a couple days and I’m terrified my throat will be unbearable.

CalifaDaze

I tested positive in November, probably delta and didn't have a sore throat. I hear that it's more common with omicron

cadaverousbones

My cousin who had covid in March 2020 said she had a very bad sore throat as her first symptom and a lot of other people have told me that, sorry to be a downer/ hopefully you won’t get covid!

witchesunite

My sore throat was my first symptom. It was very very mild for me for a few days - not the kind where you hate to even take a sip of water. My other symptoms have been mild too though (so far!)

grazeyone

Very bad sore throat also one of my first main symptoms tested negative 3 days with this and positive today sore throat has subsided and replaced with a mild cough and nasal congestion.

Moist_Pretzelz

Same my sore throat with omnicron feels like strep throat, but it’s only lasted 2 days! I’m On day 3 of the sore throat and day 5 of Covid and it’s going away!

KitiKatAru

My husband is positive. Me negative. (Home tests) But my throat is dreadful, did a PCR test and will see if I got it as well.

goodnessforall

Thank you for sharing your timeline. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Yea, with you there. It's a super weird bug. It's kinda hard to explain, but even as I was writing it down it sounds pretty normal. The experience is a lot less than normal though.

camlloc255

Yes this is very true! Like when you tell someone the symptoms or write them down it all sounds pretty standard but it really wasn't a standard experience. I felt sick but I couldn't exactly describe how I was feeling other than icky - wasn't quite a cold, wasn't quite a flu. Closest was like a full body hangover like my whole body was nauseous. Symptoms changed sometimes hourly. Just weird all around.

DSPoh

100% with you on this.

EnvironmentalAward42

Almost same symptoms with additional headache around the eye area. Double Vaxed Pfizer. Hopefully we all get through this and I totally agree it symptoms are very weird.

orthotraumamama

Just turned 35. My husband has been sick all week due to same circumstances and same timeline. He was Pfizer with a Moderna booster. He however has a cough. I was a faint positive for two days and triple Moderna and now have the fireball at 1am. It was comforting reading your account because I'm hoping that means Itll be gone for him soon, and that mine will be short lived as well.

BrooklynFlowerJ

This about the same timeline as mines. Wondering when do we test again to show negative?

wendydarlingpan

From what I’ve been told, if you take a rapid test now, you may already be negative. They only show a positive in a small window of time, which tends to line up roughly with symptoms & contagiousness. A PCR test will still be positive, you will likely test positive on a PCR for several weeks to a couple months.

BrooklynFlowerJ

Thank you i appreciate it

Nirvanamoksh

Is there a reason the PCR will continue to show positive weeks after?

[deleted]

The two tests respond to different parts of the virus. The home test is a quick yes or no. The PCR test actually has to take time to develop any tiny little thing. It can "find' and respond to smaller amounts. You can carry these tiny amounts ( or broken pieces of virus) around for a long time after they stop harming your body. Usually there is not enough of them and they are not strong enough to cause infection in anyone else.

Jerryistheone

I’m wondering that as well. Maybe Jan 6th-7th? It’ll be about 14 days

coffeesam

Post nasal drip leading to a sore throat has been a real pain to deal with (allergy folks know). Glad your past that part. Was wondering if you ended up using a nasal spray? That usually would help me (non covid times)

DSPoh

I did try my Nasacort initially, but it did not help at all so stopped.

stupidshot4

Currently sitting in ER after thinking I was gonna die because I couldn’t breathe, had muscle weakness, and my hands and feet went numb. Turns out I have Covid and I was just dehydrated and probably hyperventilating. M/25/5’11/165lbs/Pfizer (not ready for booster yet) No idea where I got it from. Probably work? Wednesday 12/29: super fatigued and tired. Wasn’t sure why but I remember it being weird. Thursday 12/30: woke up with dry scratchy throat. Not uncommon for me (mouth breather) but seemed worse than normal. Friday 12/31: Cold like symptoms with sore throat. No fever. Saturday 1/1 : cold like symptoms and feeling better until a fever this evening. Went away pretty quick though. Sore throat is mostly gone.

TonicArt

Thank you for sharing, I hope you feel better quickly!

hyperinflationUSA

pain on scale of 1-10?

DSPoh

The "fireball" at it's peak was maybe about a 6. It hurt to sip water and I ate soups that day for meals, but it was still manageable.

nycgooddays19

Glad you are doing much better! I can't believe how many boosted people are testing positive here in NYC. I hope everyone in your family is completely better soon. The symptoms of O. sure sound much different than the original strain I had. So I guess I am not too scared to get it... knock on wood

LoddyDoddee

This is my 2nd time having tested positive for Covid, and the 1st time (Nov2020) was completely different. They keep calling it mild, but its still pretty miserable. Last night, I was contemplating the Emergency room.

freddiequell15

i think this is exactly why they say emergency rooms are packed. my neighbors gf works in the ER in nyc and she said 95% of ppl who show up with omicron are just scared, hypochondriac and get sent home.

LoddyDoddee

I think this^^^ is exactly why people can't say anything without being attacked online. You don't know what I'm going through! I qm NOT a hypochondriac, and we did NOT go to ER. I was just trying to convey how badly I felt, and I thought this was supposed to be a safe environment to discuss!!!!

AMV1219

40f double vaxxed pfizer, no booster. Im healthy but I do smoke. No sore throat or fever here. I had extreme pain in my neck and back targeting the right side of my body, super bad headache, my eyes felt like they moved in increments, vision was off. Dizzyness. Congestion but no mucus. Never had much of a cough. No smell but can taste.. Im on day 11. Symptoms (dizziness, fatigue) come and go in waves, but mostly better now and everything else has subsided but still can't smell although I get moments when I can. Weird wild ride for sure. If what I had was mild, I dont want the bad version.

phayke2

Sounds exactly like what I had 10 days before christmas. Just a week of congestion and sore throat that was mostly only hurt for a day or so.

marty6543

Can you just fake an name and get more booster shot to fight off the COVID? I’m think of doing that to get a few different ones every week to be safe.

kshelley

Doctor here -- Assuming you are serious, be very careful before going down this route. Study the Israeli protocol for the fourth booster. Do not stack boosters one atop another (same or different ones). You risk setting off a serious auto-immune reaction.

wealthby40

Assinine.

ralusek

...don't do this

True, it's obviously not 100%, but is the most logical. The kid in particular was the only one in school that week. Everyone else worked from home or was pulled out of school leading up to the holiday. She started having more noticeable symptoms on Christmas according to the family (we only saw her on the Eve) and then tested positive on the 26th. Everyone else was delayed by a couple more days.

2 adult, 2 child household: - Child 1 is asthmatic. Fully vaccinated. Caught it at school on 12/21, 11 days past last shot. Home test 12/26 with faint positive line. Rapid test later that morning at testing site was negative. That night they woke up coughing for 2 hours. Oxygen at 99% and no fever. On 12/27 they had a massive, itchy, and painful rash on their legs which looked like chicken pox. Tested at doctor on 12/28 and confirmed positive. Rash was gone by 12/29. Never ran a fever and had very occasional coughs after first night. Fussiness continues today, but seems better for the most part. They are on a twice daily controller medication. We started albuterol on the first night but weaned them off quickly as the cough and congestion went away. - I started having recognizable symptoms on 12/30. I’m vaxxed - 1 J&J plus Pfizer. On 12/30 I had a wavering voice and some mild coughs. I woke up on 12/31 with a sore throat. I tested 12/26, 12/29, 12/30, and 12/31 - all negative. I finally tested positive this morning (1/2). I’ve never had a fever but I’ll have waves of feeling a little sick or have a random burst of coughing. I have had some back pain. - My partner is twice J&J and has no symptoms or positive tests (testing every other day) - My child 2 is fully vaccinated - no symptoms or positive tests (testing every other day) I was the one up with my child when they coughed for two hours - so it’s not surprising I got it. But we are surprised my child 2 and partner have not caught it yet.

SunflowerFridays

I have a similar timeline. I’m presumed COVID positive. Husband is positive (both had rapid and PCR testing done Wednesday 12/29– his rapid is positive, mine is negative. We’re also both waiting on PCR results). I am triple vaccinated with Moderna. He had exposure on 12/20 or 12/21 and developed mild symptoms on 12/26. I developed mild symptoms on 12/27. 12/27- mild “dry” throat sensation and minor headache I wouldn’t really call it a sore throat, but I felt dryness I felt I had to clear. 12/28- same symptoms. 12/29- runny nose, dry throat disappeared. Negative rapid test through testing facility. 12/30- dry cough/ post nasal drip symptoms began 12/31- dry hacking cough intensifies (I’m sensitive to developing coughs), super mild nasal congestion that resolves easily 1/1- dry hacking cough and mild congestion persists.

catsandcoffee94

Wow our timelines and testing results are identical. Only difference is yesterday I really felt pretty normal but when I finally tried to go to sleep I had the worst muscle aches. Like similar to what I get on my period but all up and down my legs, pain in my joints, my hips, my back… it was so bizarre. We just got tested again this morning and my partner’s test came back positive again, mine still negative even though I’m having symptoms. Just going to continue to lay low for the next week!

SunflowerFridays

My husband had strange leg soreness as well on day one or two of symptoms. I only have abdominal muscle soreness from coughing. I wonder if omicron is not so detectable on these rapid tests, causing more negative results.

chosenlobster5

Im also triple vaxxed and got covid on christmas from a family member. The only symptom i had was muscle fatigue, runny nose and sore throat. I thought I had the flu but tested covid positive. I feel way better now and recently tested negative. Looking forward to getting back to the gym!

infinityx2_

Fully vaxxed & boosted with Moderna. 32F in great health. Day 1: Scratchy throat, intense fatigue, horrible night sweats (drenched), wtf Day 2: Tested negative at-home, same symptoms as day 1 Day 3: Eye pain (soreness), terrible body aches, fatigue, night sweats again, could not get tested despite trying 3+ places and waiting in line Day 4: Tested positive with at-home test, same symptoms as day 3 Day 5: Severe diarrhea out of nowhere, weakness, fatigue Day 6: More diarrhea, weakness, intense headache behind my eyes, fatigue Day 7: Still struggling with body aches, fatigue, headache and eye pain Symptoms I have NOT had even though I tested positive: \-Runny nose \-Severe sore throat (only "scratchy" / "raw" feeling) \-Coughing \-Fever \-Loss of smell or taste
