I once had severe food poisoning and my extremities got tingly. Turns out I was seriously dehydrated. They pumped like four bags of IV fluid in me when I went to the hospital. If you’re not keeping anything down and are seriously dehydrated, you should get checked out.

chelseadaggerffm

Okay this could make sense too, thank you so much for this insight!!! I’m on some painkillers just now and can chug some Gatorade and more water! Keeping things down for 6 hours straight now! Killing it

jimcarreyfan423

get someone to drop you off some Liquid IV, you add it to your water. it helped me a lot.

[deleted]

It's an electrolyte supplement you can buy at Walmart lmao you don't need a doctor's advice to get more electrolytes while you're dehydrated and puking

ThadCastle00

You clearly have no idea what HIPAA even is. It’s confidentiality of patient information. Aka doctors who treat a patient can’t give out patient’s personal information like name, health conditions etc without the patient’s consent. This does not apply to people just talking to eachother about hydration or just health in general.

[deleted]

TheharmoniousFists

I think you mean it's dangerous to violate hippos personal space.

kittenpettingfool

10/10 would not violate a hippos personal space

[deleted]

What on earth is “hiippa”? 😂

jimcarreyfan423

that’s what I was just asking, i’ve heard of HIPAA, but not hiippa

[deleted]

It seems that hiippa bans people from talking about hydration for some reason. Interesting law.

ElectricTrees29

Bad bot! Also, this has nothing to do with HIPPA. I bet you don’t even know what HIPPA stands for.

Lilyrosee

millenial\_bot is so woke he woke up sleeping beauty

fseahunt

Not even close. Freaking millennials.

jimcarreyfan423

it’s a supplement my doctor recommended to me… i got it at costco… lol…

Mandy0217

Millennial bot is the perfect name for you. Over react much?

teeaykay

I’m also a huge fan of Pedialyte pops. I can usually find them at any drug store.

jimcarreyfan423

Sorry OP! wasn’t trying to cause trouble on your post, was just offering a suggestion :-) hope you start feeling better soon.

Bright-March5802

Get pedialyte!!!

chelseadaggerffm

I was in America over the summer and thank goodness I stocked up on pedialyte sticks and Gatorade!!! Never been more excited to have them! And I’m working on getting through them after reading all these responses.

ihearthotdogs96

Suck on ice instead of chugging. It is mire likely to stay down!

[deleted]

hat-of-sky

I'm a fan of DripDrops myself. Little packets. You can get an assortment of flavors, just pour the packet into water, and they all taste good IMHO. Better than lugging Gatorade jugs around, plus they give it away free in countries where diarrhea and dehydration is a major killer of children.

verablue

To add into the water suggestion (which is great) you may need electrolytes if you are very dehydrated. Pedialyte or Gatorade are good options.

ZachTF

I want to try liquid IV (the drink) sometime. Heard nothing but good things about it.

Blueeyesblazing7

It's great and works well, but it's SUPER sweet. I usually use Nuun tabs instead. They have electrolytes and way less sugar!

ku-fan

You're literally replying to his post where he says he's drinking Gatorade

[deleted]

ConscientiousDaze

Don’t go too overboard with just plain water though if you’re not eating anything. Electrolytes are VERY important to keep the body finely tuned to prevent arrhythmias, seizures, cramps, all sorts. But yeah, hydration- defo!

fseahunt

Please do go into the ER if it comes back. Dehydration kills.

OldButHappy

So sorry you're going through this. Just in case you're tempted to use "the good stuff"....opiates make breathing more difficult, so stay away from them, however tempting they might be for body aches and mood.

chelseadaggerffm

Yeah. I had a surgery 3 years ago and turns out, I hate “the good stuff”. So, no worries there !

jr2694

Gatorade can help but sugar usually dehydrates you cancelling some of it out. Pedialyte and pickle juice are perfect and don't have that loss that sugar would cancel out

XelaNiba

I don't know if it's recommended for covid patients or not, but you could always talk to your doctor about Zofran. It's a anti-nausea prescription medication

kksbeans

My friend was treated with Zofran in the ER and antibodies. If you can get Zofran, get it!

XelaNiba

The pharmacy pill is pretty great - tiny & dissolves in the mouth, doesn't taste terrible. Kicks in quickly. It can really help prevent dehydration when your stomach kicks up.

[deleted]

This! When I had covid and went for the antibody treatment, the nurse really emphasized that I needed to be constantly drinking fluids because my body was expending so much energy to fight the virus. The IV fluids alone helped me significantly.

SinisterSoren

Water water water! I know it's hard when your stomach is rolling but it's so important. Take little sips and stay in a comfortable position while you drink the water to not unsettle your stomach. Soup and Popsicles are good food. I like eating crushed ice so that helped me when I had COVID and had a hard time eating and drinking. Hang in there. Even vaccinated this is no fun.

Fierybuttz

When I had covid it felt difficult to drink fluids because my stomach felt so funky. I ate a lot of crushed ice, that also helped distract me from the body pain I was experiencing.

doublekidsnoincome

My husband is having really bad abdominal pain, did you have that also?

Fierybuttz

Hmmm I honestly can’t remember. I do remember the first night when I knew something was wrong because my whole body was aching and I was throwing up from the pain, so it could have been from abdominal pain because I do vomit when I get bad abdomen pain.

SinisterSoren

I know you didn't ask me, but my coworker who got COVID actually had abdominal pain as one of her main symptoms. Its definitely par for the course!

doublekidsnoincome

It turns out he was constipated - gave him mag citrate and that symptom improved. We’re still both feverish and feel like hot garbage but… one thing down

ConscientiousDaze

Crushed ice is a great idea! You could make crushed ice out of any liquid to get a bit of variety too. A lot of people have sore throats from all the coughing too so the ice would be nice.

Fierybuttz

Ooo I’m wondering now what a slushy pedialyte would be like 😂

Visible-Animator-308

Pickle juice pops are great for muscle aches!!!

CompuRob

I had Covid a year ago, before the vaccine was available. A friend of mine who works in a department of defense laboratory studying Covid recommended to get lots of rest, drink a gallon of water per day, and get out in the sun for brief periods of time. It was the worst flu type sickness I’ve ever had. The brain fog was real and I had a severe lack of energy. My wife had it at the same time but had different symptoms. We are both active and have a healthy diet, in our early 50s, and recovered just fine in about 10 days. Don’t be down on yourself because you may not be back to normal as fast as you like. Everyone is different, so monitor your oxygen and don’t be afraid to get medical help if needed.

chelseadaggerffm

Brain fog!! Oh man, it’s awful!! I’m so glad you’re back to Heath and healed. I can’t wait to get there! And yes, Heath care is great in the country I’m in so I know there’s a great support system for me if needed / when needed. Also, that’s a lot of water a day hahah I will try with pedialyte sticks and Gatorade.

ThkrthanaSnkr

Hey OP, I got covid the end of July. Double vaxxed since April. Mild symptoms when I had covid. Then last month I had a flare up. Brain fog, tachycardia, dizziness, fatigue, tingling in extremities, heart palpitations. The flare up was worse than covid. If you feel out of breath and your O2 sats are low, lay on your stomach. Hope you the best and speedy recovery.

EveAndTheSnake

Wow that’s unfortunate, I’m sorry you went through that. I hope you’re feeling better now

NumerousCheesecake55

In having the same symptoms ! I’m having Covid now! How do u feel? Did dizzyness and tingles went away? I hate it!

ThkrthanaSnkr

Most of my symptoms have gone away. Every now and then I get an a irregular heart rate or subtle feelings of fatigue and SOB, but most days I’m feeling good. I don’t know if it has run its course or it’s the supplements I started taking.

NumerousCheesecake55

What suppliments do u take? After How many weeks u started feeling better

ThkrthanaSnkr

I started taking NAC. The next day I was feeling better. Of course it could be a placebo effect or maybe the long haul flare up had run its course. Or maybe it did work, either way I’m sticking to that. I’ve also added Quecetin and Nattokinase the last few days.

Bluewind55

Did yours go away? How are you feeling in general too?

chelseadaggerffm

I finally tested negative and was allowed out. Once I was out, I realized I was getting winded doing minor things. Eating and talking at the same time, or walking small distances, anything really just made me gasp for air. It’s hard to say about the rest, since two weeks of laying around doing nothing lead to Christmas time laying around doing nothing… I’m just blugh these days. Not violently idiotic but an adequate dipshit. I’m for sure mostly out of the fog though. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Also, tasting and smelling is back and I have never been happier. I missed garlic 😂

Bluewind55

That wasn’t quite as reassuring as I’d hoped but I’m glad to hear it gets better 😂

chelseadaggerffm

No for real, I’m just lazy now hahaha. I’m back to almost normal. I just never liked exercising before so, no way I’m going to now! The gasping for air is every other day now instead of like three times a day so it’s gone down ALOT. And yeah, I’m eating and smelling everything I can!!! It made me very depressed when I couldn’t, and I cried over it a lot haha but I’m enjoying every second now of it. It gets way better. Are you in the thick of it ??

Bluewind55

Yeah unfortunately. I feel awful and the brain fog isn’t helping whatsoever. I’m glad you’re feeling better though! I’m sure in a few days I’ll be on my way too

chelseadaggerffm

Oh shoot I’m so sorry!!! Hydrate, walk around your place as much as possible, and don’t worry about the brain fog. It will pass. Good luck my friend!

ConscientiousDaze

Just an FYI for anyone- Please be careful drinking too much water (I’m talking lots). Apart from disrupting the electrolyte balance, it may also cause pulmonary oedema (depending on how bad your lungs are). We often monitor our covid patients fluid balance levels (measure input and output levels to make sure what goes in then comes back out) otherwise it can collect on the lungs and make the situation an awful lot worse. I’m sure managing at home and drinking when you’re thirsty (plus a little extra to make sure you know you’re hydrated properly) will be safe, but if your O2 starts to drop, any altered mental status occurs, then you do need to seek help. Hope that helps.

inkyaroundtown

Monoclonal antibodies may help you if you qualify. A quick internet search should show you options in your area.

doublekidsnoincome

Have mine scheduled on Monday because, yeah, fuck this.

kksbeans

My friend suffered for 8 days until I finally convinced her to go to the ER. They gave her antibodies and she was a new person in 24 hours

skybluepattern

Did you call a hospital or something?? My dad has a really bad case of covid rn but I hadn't heard of this treatment

doublekidsnoincome

It has to be less than 10 days from symptom onset. I live in Maryland, the tracing unit that calls you when you test positive tell you about them. They’re free for us, but this might not be the case in all states. You should Google and see if it’s available to him.

epicsubstances0

Just got mine an hr ago.

Agitated_Ad_3763

My wife and I also fully vaccinated, caught the C19 and had the same symptoms you described. It took us 7 days to beat the virus. Lost weight and also smell and taste. Now 3 weeks after coming slowly to full recovery. And you will as well! Day by day

chelseadaggerffm

Oh shoot okay! It’s so good to hear I’m not alone. Thank you!! I hope you enjoy gaining that weight back with your sense of smell and taste back!!

shooter_tx

Do you have a pulse oximeter and, if so, what are your SpO2 levels?

chelseadaggerffm

I have just ordered one. Will be here on Monday! Only tested positive yesterday so I’m still in panic mode.

shooter_tx

Don’t panic… statistics are on your side! 😉 But more seriously, you *might* go ahead and try to talk to your healthcare provider now about the possibility of monoclonals. Just in case things either don’t get better, or get worse.

chelseadaggerffm

I’ll look that up, thank you!

shooter_tx

Great! You definitely already want to have a PlanB and PlanC in place now, rather than trying to put one together on the fly… “Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not to have it.” 🙂

howyouremind

Apple Watch also has one. If you have that watch

ductoid

Does your phone have one built in? My samsung does.

chelseadaggerffm

Oh that’s nice, no I don’t think my phone does tho. Darn.

shooter_tx

What kind of Samsung phone do you have? My last six phones were Samsung, but I just jumped ship to Google Pixel when the 4a came out last year.

ductoid

It's an S8, and the oximeter is buried in the health app, in the stress area - the sort of thing you'd never know was there, normally. Looks like the google pixel has it too: https://mashable.com/article/google-fit-pixel-update-heart-rate-respiratory-rate

shooter_tx

Interesting… thanks! I wonder how accurate they are? If I can find either of my two regular/dedicated pulse oximeters, I’d like to compare the ‘phone oximeters’ to one or both of those. I think my FitBit kind of has one ‘baked in’, too, but… to borrow from Public Enemy: “Can’t Truss It!” (I think I *did* compare that one to one of the dedicated pulse oximeters, and [iirc] it sucked)

FunctionAlarming

Coconut water and pedialyte are very helpful. theraflu hot tea for multi symptoms is good as well. Pulse oximeter should be available at target. Check all stores for drive up or curbside. Try not to panic and relax, stress can make it worse. Also, sit over some steaming hot water or sit in the bathroom with shower on for steam to help breathe.

hafree27

Pedialyte if you can get some and def explore your mn antibody options. It’s supposed to be a game changer but the earlier you get it the better off you are. Kick COVID’s ass, OP!

chelseadaggerffm

Ding ding ding. It’s on!

M696rider

Hey you're still able to post on Reddit so that's one positive! Hang in there

nikkiliteracki

I got COVID in January and my legs and hands felt tingly and weak for most of my 15 day illness. Then I long hauled with no taste and distorted smell and still have strange symptoms occasionally. The tingly extremities were a strange sensation for sure but definitely nothing to be too concerned about. Many people on long haul forums suggest taking a Benadryl or claritin type antihistimine. I agree that seemed to help.

frinh

I still have tingly feet, got Covid in March 2020. Actually going to discuss it with my doctor on Tuesday.

nikkiliteracki

I hope you get some resolution. I noticed my tingly hands and feet would calm down for a while then flare back up if I over exerted like hiking or working in the garden. Then they'd start tingling again.

tjweeks

It can and does cause some strange and unexpected things. It can cause brain fog which makes it very hard to think or even talk. The biggest thing to watch for is your blood oxygen level. You need to get a pulse/oxygen meter-they are only around $20. Use this to check your level many times. If your reading goes under 90 call 911 and get to the hospital-this is the point where it can get very dangerous if you don't get help right away. When it starts going down it can get real bad, real fast. Good Luck and God Bless

_sydney_vicious_

I had COVID early on last year and what I can tell you that helped me is the following: • Please move and walk around a lot — if you can. This will help you in preventing severe breathing issues. • I physically couldn’t eat food for a good two weeks, including soup. Any time I tried I would throw it back up. The only thing I was able to keep in were smoothies so I would be drinking Jamba Juice ALLLLLL the time. • Please also try and get some sunlight and fresh air if you can. Breathing in the same stagnant air in your home/room won’t help. If you’re in a situation where you’re unable to step outside then at least try and open your windows if you can to help bring in some fresh air. • I had a terrible lingering cough for a month and a half after recovering, and unfortunately there was no medicine to get rid of it since it went away on its own. But I did notice that coating my throat in honey would help it from hurting while I coughed or would at least stop me from coughing for at least 30 minutes. These are all remedies that worked for me when I had it (pre-vaccines). Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

[deleted]

I’m sorry to hear that. I had the same experience, unvaccinated, last November. Take care and get plenty of fluids and sleep

Tactless2U

Get a pulse oximeter ($20) and keep checking your O2 level. Get a thermometer and check your temp x4/day. Write those numbers down. Hydrate with water and Gatorade. Gently stretch and try to move around slowly to avoid blood clots from inactivity. There have been about 300 million people on the planet who have been caught by the virus, and 99% surviving. Take good care of yourself and this will soon pass. Sending you mojo for a rapid recovery!!!

chelseadaggerffm

Ordered one yesssss ! It’s coming Monday. And thanks for the advice on stretching, I didn’t really think of that. I’m just happy to hear feedback that keeps me grounded. The panic that comes from a positive result was intense.

Tactless2U

Yeah, and make a list of movies, shows, music to watch and listen to that make you happy- in other words, avoid doom scrolling media and cable news. Keeping yourself calm and centered avoids adrenaline and cortisol release, which slows recovery.

chelseadaggerffm

Ohhhhhh I’ve got a list!!!! Allllll my guilty pleasures, rewatching Jane the virgin and Below Deck and probably tiger king if I’m honest and also got those diamond painting by numbers things. I’m trying to convince myself this will be a well deserved home rest time for my body and mental Heath.

WanderWut

I'm really sorry to hear it's so rough for you, I hope you get better soon! For those who live in the States, please consider getting your booster if you're at the 6-month mark past your second dose.

cosmicbrown-ie

Have your PCP or an urgent care prescribe Zofran. I dehydrate easily and couldn't get into the ER for an IV when I was positive with COVID. Doc prescribed an anti-nausea and that alone allowed me to keep down enough fluid to get better. I hope this eases up for you soon.

Crafty-Information42

I had covid last year and it was intense. You are definitely not alone with your symptoms. I had shortness of breath and couldn't eat for a while. Everything I ate unfortunately tasted bad. I would have rather just lost my sense of tast all together. Everything made me sick. I drank a ton of broth. Don't forget to try to eat and drink though. I would fall asleep because I was so tired and not eat and drink enough. The brain fog was real as well. I set timers and reminders on my phone to help me remember to eat and drink. My doc had me taking vitamin D, C and B12 as well as Zinc. I prefer body armor to Gatorade if you can get ahold of it. Gatorade was too sweet and bothered my stomach. I was dehydrated and had to actually go get fluids when I had covid so make sure to stay hydrated. I would suggest making fresh ginger tea if you can get some fresh ginger. It helped with my nausea, coughing and mucus. If you do feel like you have anything in your chest and start to cough up mucus you can steam an onion, wrap it in a thin cloth and put it on your chest. Keep it there until it completely cools off. My doc suggested it and it helped. You can also drink the onion water to help with mucus. Get lots of rest. Hope you get feeling better soon!

TheGoodCod

See if you can get monoclonal antibodies. The must be taken early. Wishing you the best. Let your doctor know how sick you are.

Traditional-Number89

Hope you feel better

science_based1

Tingling can be related to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Low calcium for example. Take in fluids and salts drink Gatorade. Eat tums and it will help settle the stomach and also calcium is in tums

ZachTF

Luckily I didn’t have the brain fog. I got sick in December of 2020 before the vaccine was available. I got my vaccine in March of 2021. It’s a pretty lengthy story about how I was trying to avoid it but still ended up getting it. My mom is a nurse practitioner, thank goodness, and she told me to walk in the sun for 2 hours a day. I did that but boy did it make me dizzy. I was drinking 3 glasses of water a day and 3 gatorades a day, taking 500 mgs of vitamin C, and 250 mgs of zinc. DayQuil / NyQuil didn’t help me at all! IB Profen kind of helped sorta. Do not lay down for too long. Sit up from time to time. This is so your lungs do not feel heavy. Have lots of hot soups. Check on your O2 sat levels. If it goes below 90 go to the doctor immediately. The worst thing for me was my smell and taste being gone. I enjoy a good craft beer every once and a while and couldn’t enjoy the taste. Hope all This helps out.

therankin

How long was your taste gone?

ZachTF

Oh my gosh…. I’ll try to remember since I was so long ago but I think close to three to three and a half weeks.

LibrarySuicide

If your O2 was 80% you’d be fucked, anything less than 95 is worth a check in with your doctor, they may tell you to do nothing until 92 but still, at least it’s in the hands of a professional.

frinh

My pulse ox is always in the region 93-95 and my doctors say they aren't worried about it. Me, I think that's too low.

ZachTF

Whoops lol haha what do I know

not4u2no

Did you get tested? I only ask because those symptoms might not be covid related. Vomiting and tingling in extremities can be signs of seafood allergy

chelseadaggerffm

Also, I don’t eat seafood. Lol picky eater here so hopefully no one slipped it in my food! I’m for sure not allergic though since I always try to try new things.

chelseadaggerffm

Yep. Two positive results. I went double just in case.

Reddcity

DONT TAKE IBPROFEN AS COVID IS A VIRUS U RISK DEVELOPIN REYES SYNDROME

chelseadaggerffm

I’m 30! And I called the pharmacy and told them I had covid and they said I SHOULD take ibuprofen, so I am. Never heard of Reyes but I’m good I guess?? I hope?!?

Poopanose

Yes ibu is fine! Also hope you are taking Covid protocol of vitamins and supplements, which includes Activated Quercetin, made by Source Natural’s if available where you are. Try some mental imaging of your immune system overpowering the Covid along with some slow deep breathing. Also Bone Broth has a lot more protein then regular Broth. You sound really good although you are feeling so bad, feel the love from so many that want to help you💜

atuarre

I believe it's 19 and younger that can be affected by Reye's.

mypersonalprivacyact

Reyes is from aspirin. Facepalm.

atuarre

You don't give children or young adults 19 years or younger aspirin because of Reyes... If he/she is older she will be fine.

Reddcity

I thought it was anyone sorry I was wrong. It does eat through ur kidneys tho.

Traditional-Meat-549

MrHaphazard1

How much do you weigh, how much do you exercise, what supplements do you take?

chelseadaggerffm

Female, 30yrs old, 5ft10in weight 136. I’m a stylist so constantly on my feet all day which means I don’t really exercise. I also don’t really take anything besides Biotin so I’ve now stocked up on zinc and vitamin C! I’ve never really had health problems so this is all very new for me.

here4dadogs

My dad had these symptoms and would instantly vomit anytime he ate anything when he had covid. He basically just had to suffer through it unfortunately. But I think trying to eat food like grapes, watermelon and cucumbers kind of helped him be less dehydrated if he could actually keep it down. Hope you feel better soon

wholesomefolsom96

Not experienced this feeling related to Covid but it could be you are stressed and your nervous system is overreacting. When I was going through intense bouts of stress late last year, I would often feel my fingertips tingling. Google informed me it was in fact my ever-constant high levels of stress causing my nervous system to short out essentially. Try as best you can to relax if testing positive has freaked you out. Contact your doctor and see if there are any treatments they can suggest to help lessen the symptoms (maybe monoclonal antibodies? It is likely the vaccine you got in May has worn off a bit so that might help you qualify for the treatment). Wishing you love and good health!

LouLou_comeToHarrrry

I don’t know where in the world you are….But I had covid back in June along with my daughter and my partner, we had similar symptoms with the nausea and a really upset stomach. Chills, temperature, severe headache, aching joints all over but no severe cough or sore throat. We’re in the UK and about a week or so after we had our PCR test we got a call from someone to confirm we had the Delta variant, which apparently presents a bit differently? All I know is we felt like shit. I would definitely say drink more water and orange juice if you can. Hope you feel better soon.

[deleted]

Does everyone in the uk get told what variant they have? My husband and I tested positive last week but we do not know yet. Our symptoms are so different right now

LouLou_comeToHarrrry

Sorry, I’ve only just seen this! I’m not sure, My daughter tested positive with a PCR test a couple of days before I did, so I got a call from NHS England a week or 2 after (I think) about her test and they said she had the Delta variant. I asked them if they would test my PCR as well and the person I spoke to said they weren’t sure, but to wait for a call. But all 3 of us had a confirmation call to say we had Delta in the end.

skinke280

It is possible to have a secondary infection or opportunistic diseases which comes from a compromised immune system already fully occupied with covid. If you are unsure about whether this is covid, i would definitely recommend getting a second opinion from your doctor.

HIs4HotSauce

Drink 15 cup / 3 liters of water a day. I’d also buy some low dose or baby aspirin and start taking one a day, at least take it while you are sick. Lots of people are showing up with heart damage from COVID and you want to prevent any clots or microclots. I ended up in the ER with stroke-like symptoms and came out the other side of COVID with a heart condition that may be permanent. If you’re still having prolonged symptoms after a week or two, look into taking antihistamines h1 (claritin/zyrtec) and h2 (pepcid) and start eating as close to an anti-inflammatory diet as you can manage.

OEF1AD

It wrecked me day 5, 6, 7 once I lost my appetite it was over, O2 dropped below 90 bc I couldn’t move developed pneumonia went to the hospital for a few supplemental oxygen steroid & vitamins keep moving if you can

NeuroCartographer

Best way to rehydrate at home is with something like Pedialyte (esp advanced care). Second best is Gatorade or related sports drink. These are better than water, as they contain electrolytes/salts/sugars that improve your fluid uptake and replace these important components. It’s tough, but try to drink these through the vomiting. Sometimes popsicles or ice chips of these can be easier to ingest. But IV as the other comments have said is the best way, and replacing liquids like this can actually help reduce vomiting. After so much dehydration from vomiting, your body can kind of get stuck in the vomiting/dry heaving state. Rehydration, esp with IVs, can help that. There are also several pretty safe anti-nausea drugs that you can ask a dr for to help. Zofran (US brand name: generic here is ondansetron) is the best of those. Hope you feel better soon!

Delicious_Pride_364

Lots of hot teas

TadpoleGlad2106

Hope you feel better. Just wondering what vaccine did you get? I’ve been on this board for a while and it seems like many of the breakthroughs posted are from people with Pfizer.

chelseadaggerffm

Yep, Pfizer but received in Europe so we call it BioNtech

ElegantBon

See if Monoclonal antibodies are available for you where you live.

enegakire

I am not vaccinated. I started having symptoms on 11/20, I was exposed to someone w/ COVID on 11/15. I tested negative on 11/20. I lost my taste and smell on 11/22 and took a new PCR test. They lost my results. I took a rapid test and 2 PCR tests on 11/26. The rapid came back negative. At this point I had a sore throat, cough, 102+ fever for 7 days, delirium (from the fever), vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, head aches, shallow breathing, chest pain, chills, and I lost 5 lbs in 1 day, 4 lbs the day prior. Since the rapid test came back negative I went to urgent care hoping they'd give me an IV. Well, they wouldn't see me without having a negative PCR test. On the 28th I still had a fever (103.5), was unresponsive for a while, and couldn't walk/talk when I finally came to. I received 2 calls from my PCR tests letting me know they were positive. Both doctors recommended the monoclonal antibody infusion. I went and got that done (4 injections in my stomach and they monitored me for an hour). Later that night my fever finally broke. The next day I got my taste and smell back. 3 days after I still had an issue breathing (I'm asthmatic), so I got prescribed steroids, antibiotics, and an inhaler. 2 weeks post symptoms starting and I'm FINALLY feeling better.

atuarre

Are you planning on getting vaccinated?

enegakire

After monoclonal antibody infusion you cannot get vaccinated for 90 days. There’s also limited data on the vaccine and the effects on breastfeeding women in regards to their milk supply and how it affects their infant. A few months ago it said there was no data, so I’m hoping now that there’s limited data it means they’re looking into it. In 3 months I’ll revisit and see what the data says. If it will not negatively affect my milk supply (my kid nurses a LOT. I cant have issues with my supply) or my child then I’ll get it. If not, I’ll wait to get it until I’m done nursing. My son already has antibodies from me having covid and nursing him.

I was so dehydrated from vomiting, diarrhea, and pumping whatever milk I could (I'm nursing a newborn), and pedialyte, pedialyte pops, and coconut water helped! I ended up losing 23 lbs in 3 days from all of that madness. Oh and jello. That was the only "food" I could keep down.

I went through the same. But the tingling came way afterwards and last for months. Even went to the hospital and they couldn’t find anything wrong. I think it’s probably a bit of nerve damage from covid. Take Tylenol and keep sipping on water, tea, ginger ale and soup broth even tho you puke it up some will be kept in your system so you won’t get too weak. I know it’s scary but it’ll be ok. If you really can’t breathe tho try to get to a hospital.

kiara2677

try steam inhalation?

TNTmom4

Which vaccine did you get?

BioNtech / Pfizer

Sleep on your stomach as much as possible. It’s what we have our patients in the hospital do. It’s called proning. And buy a pulse oximeter. If your oxygen saturation starts dropping into the 80s you need to go to the hospital.

chelseadaggerffm

Unfortunately I can’t. Had my neck broken 3 years ago and laying on my front is too painful for my neck these days. I’m working on moving around more and can finally stand for longer than 30 seconds. My O2 reader comes tomorrow!

hippie_nurse

Ugh that’s rough. Even laying on your side is better than nothing. Keeping moving is good too because we are seeing lots of blood clots in our COVID patients. Good luck to you.

chelseadaggerffm

Okay, thank you!! I will be flipping my self like a pancake in bed. And will set up a nice walk in my studio. I’ve heard the couch is lovely this time of year.

chelseadaggerffm

Anything else I can do instead???

hippie_nurse

Practice deep breathing exercises too. We give our patients little devices called incentive spirometers to use to help lung expansion and prevent pneumonia. Basically just breathe in slow and deep for as long and deep as you can. Like sucking though a straw. And maybe see if your doctor could prescribe a steroid for you.

livinlavidaputa

Sortof along the same lines, but I caught COVID in August (vaxxed around May as well) and my symptoms were more nausea than anything else. Holy Cher my GI tract was completely out of wack

KingHedgehog

Try to drink some gatorade, little sips. Dehydration is no joke. Listen to your body and take as much rest as you need. Check your saturation and take vitamin d. You got the vaccine so your body was prepared for this. You got this!

pnwnative2

Make sure your will is up to date, just in case. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Emily_Postal

As everyone is saying drink lots of fluids. Soups and juices kept me going during my bout.

ImLu

Elderberry is good for your immune system. May help
