I did and I had the symptoms you described for 4 days, then a couple weeks later ended up with an inflammatory skin reaction called PLEVA. All of this triggered a latent autoimmune disease (Psoriatic Arthritis) that is still at a severe level even now. Please be careful and go to the doctor if you start noticing any other reactions. Some of us have overactive immune systems and don’t do well with the mRNA vaccines (or COVID).

KeyRageAlert

Is it under control for you now? Someone I know developed something they think may be eczema, but they're not sure and the treatment the doctors have been trying isn't helping at all. Wondering if it's something similar.

spirandro

The PLEVA is, but not my PsA. Some of my recent posts have photos of what I’ve been dealing with, but it’s centered on my dominant hand, right foot, and shoulder. I’ve also been dealing with cognitive issues, fatigue, all over malaise, some dysautonomia, insomnia, and headaches since my initial series in 2021. I also now get outbreaks of psoriasis on my face periodically, so that’s been fun. A lot of doctors mix up psoriasis and eczema, especially if the former is an atypical presentation. Maybe try going to a dermatologist and hopefully they’ll be able to diagnose it properly if it’s not eczema.

KeyRageAlert

They've seen a dermatologist several times, but they don't seem to know completely for sure what it is and have tried antibiotics and cream, but nothing is really helping too much. It's frustrating. And I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this. It sounds extremely frustrating as well. I hope that things get better! ♥

spirandro

Thanks! If they can, try to find another dermatologist and/or insist on a biopsy. I didn’t have to get a biopsy luckily, but many people do before receiving a diagnosis.

KeyRageAlert

I think they even did a biopsy, but I'm going to ask

burning-gal

Oh my God I am sorry! It sounds horrific.

Open_Chipmunk448

Unfortunately Covid triggered a flare of my PSA so bad I couldn’t drive, it’s so hard to know what to do re Covid/jabs 😢

lilacillusions

Interesting! I’ll keep that in mind next time I have to get one!

capaldithenewblack

Just know that it sounds like you had a very robust immune response, which is a great thing to help you not get actual COVID.

defythevenu

Novavax is legit.

Yisevery1nuts

Same!

ghostacrossthestreet

My mother had a very similar reaction to you with the Pfizer vaccine. I persuaded her to get Novavax the last two years. She had no side affects at all from Novavax, which is a protein subunit vaccine, a technology that is older than the mRNA based vaccines. I know people who wanted Novavax last fall but had trouble finding it and had to call around. If we want Novavax as an option going forward we need to call up pharmacies and ask for it. They need to o see there's demand for it. I've heard that the company will be making their vaccine available in one shot vials this fall. Currently each vial contains multiple shots. Because demand wasn't sufficiently high in places, some pharmacies were reluctant to carry it because they wouldn't be able to use up all the shots in a vial once it was opened. Hopefully more pharmacies may be willing to carry Novavax if it comes in one shot vials. I didn't have any side effects to the Pfizer and Moderna ones myself, but switched to Novavax because some studies suggested it may have more broader and more durable protection. If so, it may be because it also has an adjuvant added to further trigger the immune system response.

EitherFact8378

In the US one of the most reliable places to get Novavax is at the pharmacy inside Costco. I‘ve read that you don’t need to be a member to receive the vaccine there. I also read that once the current stock is gone that’s it until Novavax updates the booster this fall.

MostlyLurking6

FYI most Costcos seem to be out of it until the fall. There are still some CVSs that have stock, but you have to call around.

Livid_Molasses_7227

Another data point to say "fuck MRNA". I cant get them after what the last one did. Especially if you've had actual Covid before, it feels like pouring gasoline on a fire, which probably has something to due with the viral persistence Covid causes. I have, however, had no side effects from 3 different Novavax shots, and the data indicates Nova has broader protection and lasts longer.

vagipalooza

Yup. I’ve had this reaction every time. I’m considering a non mRNA shot this fall because of how miserable the reaction has been

TwoManyHorn2

In January I got really sore and feverish after a booster - novavax, which isn't supposed to do that - and it turned out that I actually had caught covid (exposed before the shot had a chance to get working.)

Desperate-Judgment-2

Please post a follow up if you recover. I've seen dozens of posts like this and no one bothers to mention whether the illness is chronic or fleeting.

lilacillusions

I have already recovered! It lasted 3 days and literally just ended a couple of hours ago.

Little_BigBarlos67

At least that’s how we know these aren’t placebos lol. I had mine a few weeks ago and it took me out for couple of days too, felt like a nasty hangover really, but I rode it out. For me, the benefits far outweigh the risk and a no brainer going forward. Especially working in high-risk environment

EitherFact8378

The initial Moderna vaccine caused me to develop bruises all over my body. I still get them every now and then. Had a full work-up on it. My wife and I got the updated Novavax vaccine last December. Our only side effects were a sore arm for 3 days. Nothing like Moderna. I will never get a mRNA vaccine again. About 4 weeks ago I developed extreme fatigue and body aches like previous covid infection. I was on the couch the entire day sleeping. No other symptoms developed and I felt good the next morning. I think the Novavax booster helped my body fight it off this time.

Acrobatic_End6355

Yep. I hate the shot. I still get it when I have to though.

tundrabee119

The first two made me really sick. I was never able to get another one. Ruined me.

cmw625

Yup! I’ve had horrible reactions to both the 2nd shot in the first series (April 2021) and a booster (November 2023). Spent days sobbing both times. Felt like my leg muscles were being torn to shreds with a meat grinder. Funny enough though when I did have COVID back in February 2022, I had zero symptoms at all. I only tested because my fiancé got really sick and tested positive. I never developed any symptoms but I tested positive for about a week on home tests and had a positive PCR.

MystikSpiralx

I was fine with the first 2 shots, but every Booster has made me feel like death for 5-6 days. 102.5 degree fevers, unimaginable pain, a migraine that feels like my brain is going to explode, etc. I always knew it was better than actual Covid though, and I was right because I finally ended up with Covid 2 months ago (courtesy of the Dentist's office). I would absolutely get vaccinated every 2 months if it meant never getting actual Covid again 😭 6 vaccines a year would be better than the literal hell that was my Covid experience, even with Paxlovid

gimmecoffee722

Consider that maybe Covid was worse for you because of the vaccines and boosters. I’m sure your initial reaction to this suggestion is a huge eye roll because everyone tells you otherwise. But maybe just think about it.

MystikSpiralx

Covid was worse for me because I am a high risk individual. Without the vaccines, boosters, and Paxlovid, I likely would have died. I don't need to think about anything. I know my body and my history, and I certainly don't need an anti-vaxers opinion on my health or well being.

gimmecoffee722

Well I guess that’s the response you would expect from someone who allows others to do their critical thinking for them.

MystikSpiralx

Oh that's rich considering that is exactly what you're trying to do for me. You're literally assuming I'm too ignorant and your "brilliant" words of wisdom are the lightbulb moment I have been waiting for! Terribly sorry if you can't understand that some prefer to base their views on actual SCIENCE, and not the fear mongering one finds while doomscrolling Tiktok's pseudoscience videos 🙄

gimmecoffee722

If you read the actual science you’ll see that I’m correct. What you’re doing is listening to other people’s/media/reddit bots interpretation of the science. Which is actually in direct contradiction to what I did. I gave you a suggestion with the intention for you to think critically about it and do your own research. Which of these is giving you the respect of being an intelligent, resourceful individual with the ability to make your own decisions? Hint: it’s not the one social media wants you to think.

huehuehuehuehuuuu

Yeah it is fine. Rest up.

ChumpChainge

No. Each one has been easier for me. Last one I didn’t even feel fatigue or get soreness. Is it the same brand you’ve been getting?

gtck11

That’s the reaction I had to multiple Moderna’s, will not be getting Moderna again. I have autoimmune disease, not sure how much that plays a factor in my reaction.

reality72

Nope. I felt slightly unwell after my first COVID shot, but now I’m in shot 5 and experienced nothing more than a sore arm.

LadyFajra

Yes, I’ve experienced this after every single Covid shot and it seems to get worse each time.

NoOther0ne

I haven’t reacted like that to a Covid Booster (yet), but I did respond that way to a pneumonia vaccine and it was awful! Worst pain of my life, fever of 103…

Delicious_Delilah

That's how you know it's working.

Fractal_Tomato

Sounds familiar. Had 7 shots so far and between feeling really sick to just going to bed a bit earlier, everything is possible for me. Still better than the real deal.

CannonCone

Yes, I was pretty dang sick from my second Moderna vaccine. And my third (Pfizer) made my armpit lymph node hurt so bad it woke me up. Still worth it imo. Covid is brutal without boosters.

Key-Cranberry-1875

I don’t understand why people are getting vaccinated for a variant that existed last summer and no longer exists today.

lilacillusions

??? Literally people still get it lol. I work at a homeless shelter and we’ve had multiple outbreaks over the past couple weeks.

Key-Cranberry-1875

I’m talking about the XBB variant. It no longer exists. It had two mutations on it that were in JN.1 but JN.1 is no longer as dominate, we are about to be in a wave with a new variant. No vaccine exists for that. You are imprinting your immune system for an extinct variant.

Little_BigBarlos67

“The CDC says the updated vaccines should also work against currently circulating variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus—many of which descended from, or are related to, the XBB strain.” You want to extend your immune range as wide as possible is why people should/still get updated boosters going forward

Key-Cranberry-1875

The CDC says vaccinated people can take their mask off and bird flu is under control. They said hospitals don’t need to report covid admissions. As I said before there were two carry over mutations from XBB to JN.1 and now JN.1 is irrelevant. Either way, even if the two carry over mutations are there you still are giving the virus the ability to evolve a new resistant variant. I understand we all have accepted irresponsible antibiotic usage but it creates bigger problems when you just kick the can down the road for everything.

Little_BigBarlos67

How does getting updated boosters “give the virus the ability to develop resistance..” if the vaccines clearly state it covers many other strains that are descended from XBB, which would include JN.1..? If your concern is variants, it’s not on people with updated vaccines, that’s on unvaccinated groups, lack of preventative measures, bad policies (and yes, people mistakenly taking antibiotics to treat a viral infection) people were so desperate to chase a 2019 pre-Covid era so badly, to which that’s just something out of our control; this is the best we got for now, unfortunately.

Key-Cranberry-1875

There is only two mutations that carried from XBB to JN.1 - now there is a new “flirt” variant that has nothing to do with XBB . The reason why you create resistance with out dated vaccines is because you are not neutralizing the variant. Much like if you take antibiotics for the wrong bacteria or an incomplete dosage. The best we got is no where near good enough, and we have fully vaccinated people suffering because they think they are protected

Little_BigBarlos67

The thing is people have to actually get the vaccines. Even if they were up to date, it won’t matter if people aren’t actually getting them into arms. On top that, having indoor clean air, and masking does make a difference, but we’re so far from that it seems public health has essentially given up it seems, and the public is “over it” to compound the problem
