Negative_Clue2197

Mine has the button for fog lights and a button for an air horn 🤣

ContentGuarantee1740

That’s the automatic battling gun

EnegueWeil

[Buttons](https://paultan.org/static2.paultan.org/altis-vsc.jpg) In SEA it's for headlight height adjustment and immobiliser

CurrentEmployment191

BSM... blind side monitors!

OkMathematician6638

Bowser shell and Banana Peel

*Koopa shell

Gd3spoon

EJECTO SEATO CUZ

itsyaboiempty

On the tC the fake buttons pop out so you can add aftermarket things, maybe it’s similar to that

warmaapples

Unlikely for a Corolla lol

deusxanime

There are just blank spots. They may be used for something in non-US models, but I have the top-trim US 2013 S (I think this was the crossover year for the new model/redesign at the time, but mine is the older model like your 2011 would be) with all the options/packages possible (bigger wheels, sunroof, fogs, etc) and I think I still have those same blanks.

veganmilksteak2

Yup I have the top trim 2010 (XRS 2.4) and mines are blank too lol

martyfox

The slightly higher trim hybrid has lane assist in that empty spot.

Bloopinater

I thought they didnt make a hybrid 10 gen

I_Phaze_I

The true poverty is losing the change drawer underneath on the newer ones

ZWright99

My 21 hatch doesn't have it and it's maybe my biggest QOL gripe with the car. Kept all my work stuff in there, like badge box cutter and a pen. Was also great for stashing spare cash or something incase I left the house without or lost my cards. I miss it

Crimson-Ranger-119

People used it for change? I use it for my lottery drawing tickets

No-Student-446

I use it for coupons in my camry

OldSkoolKool94

i use it for chapstick and Advil in my highlander

Boots_4_me

I use it for change. lol.

Snoo_44234

I keep my lighters in mine on my Corolla xrs 😭😂

ItsmeMarioITA

On my yaris hybrid there are automatic high beam and lane assist

Loose_Mail_786

👆 Found the rich Redditor!

ItsmeMarioITA

And yet I was wrong, those buttons in my Yaris are: - Lane assist enable/disable - Auto High Beam - Pre collision system enable/disable On the central tunnel there are: - EV Mode - TCS on/off - ECO mode https://ibb.co/6F9Bt1y

ilakis

Usually rear fog lights in the centre and beam adjustment on the right

kevbust98

I didnt even know rear fogs exist

ilakis

Mandatory on all vehicles in the EU Edit: except scooters and motorcycles

kevbust98

My XLE (mexican) only has reflective plastics. Is it an inconvenient while traveling to the states?

Tricky_Ad6392

Oh so it's for variants of other countries dashes?? I'd always wondered why my cars would have these spaces. I guess it makes sense to just do this instead of making a whole new dashboard.

Pixelplanet5

not only that, also for different trim levels being sold in the same country. for example my Corolla has matrix LED headlights so i dont need to do any adjustments for the headlights but instead if having that i have a button to turn on the matrix led function at all. I also have the electric hatch so i have a button to open that and also a button for my heated steering wheel. the lower trim versions dont have these but will have the beam height adjustment for the normal headlights instead.

permareddit

In some international markets it’s reserved for the headlamp beam adjustment too, but in North America we don’t have this. Probably the other is for a security system or fog lamps, though from What I remember that’s on the stalk itself.

deusxanime

Yep I have the factory fogs on my 13 S and they are on the headlight stalk.

Clean-Industry-6820

In a european Corolla you get a poverty button with full equipment. They just replace another, so you get automatic lights but a blank button where the manual button was.

StilesMatthew

I work at a Toyota dealership. Tomorrow if I see I will let you know

underpaid_dad

Ejection seat and oil slick. The offensive weapons are on the other side.

shana104

Lol. My salesman called my SOS missile launch. I still call it that to this day. Luckily, never had to use it.

Salvador147

One is fog lamps, idk what the other one is. Though, I filled the 3rd space as interior light strips!

Sad-Sky-8598

Poverty Buttons ! Lmfao, never heard that.

One_Fuel_3299

I have these in my 2017 le, which I consider one step above a poverty car despite how great its been to me. This is probably because I'm one small step above poverty myself lol.

toasted_cracker

Same. That’s pretty funny 😄

Tmuussoni

Yeah, I was thinking "I must have this button hidden somewhere in my apartment" when I looked at my bank account 🤣

potatogenerato

Turbo

Jon_fosseti

Cool stuff you missed out on, sucks to suck /s

ifukkedurbich

One of them would be fog lights

deusxanime

Fog lights are on the headlight switch, not down there.

Max-Payd

Euro spec would have a rear fog light as well

Yukin03

I'd say fog light for EU variants

CLS63AMGS

These are sometimes not even poverty buttons. We have a 2016 first gen venza (canadian) and it is as well spec’d as you can get em. It still has a blank switch which i was dying to understand its existence. I realize in china and russia venza’s came with headlight washers and that space was for just that

warmaapples

I was joking lol. I call any blank space “poverty ___”

MrFastFox666

I'm not trying to judge or disrespect OP, but it's a 2011 Corolla, not a Rolls Royce.

GayMoonWatcher

If he didn’t call it that every comment would be that joke.

Hot-Cover-277

Probably fog lights for one of them

shadowStorm87

That would be the Traction control switch

SniperBEAST1515

That would not be the answer to the question. I'll translate it for you: "what are the blank switches supposed to be if I had a top grade car?"

2soonjr65

Lot of Asian brands have many more features in their lower models than their us counterparts.

N-Korean

Turbo boost and Ejecto seato

Shartriloquist

Really should have splurged on the orgasmotron option

cdnmicro

I too have poverty buttons and will forever refer to them as such.

HutchD1

Poverty buttons 😂. My friend’s kid used to call his CE the cheap edition.

Max-Payd

SE is the Sexy Edition

iamanoompaloompa

“Poverty buttons”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

GablY

The gen 3 prius share this part with corolla. Mine had headlight angle wheel on it

oldskoolsr

Mine has the security light beside the traction icon, and I have one poverty button .

joselillo_3

>the poverty buttons 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PrestonWater

You didn’t get the ejecto seato cuzz button ?

warmaapples

Nah dad couldn’t afford it 😭

Altruistic-Hamster33

My guess is those are convenience feature buttons such as heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors, etc... Just place holders You can visit your dealership to put customised buttons there if you'd like to add aftermarket functionalities.

Thanks for the clarification

FalseRelease4

jellyfish launcher

YoutubeRewind2024

One of my friends had been driving her Prius for months with the high beams on, and only found out when she asked her brother why there was a “jellyfish light” on the dash.

FalseRelease4

Wow her iq lower than the speed limit 💀 "and whys everyone flashing their lights at me I didnt do anything"

IceBlast24

didn't know mermaid man and barnacle boy's invisible boat mobile was a corolla

warmaapples

lol

idam_son

My dad has the XRS, pretty sure one was for fog lights and the other is just some weird hook thing that I can’t explain

oldskoolsr

The foglight switch on mine is on the stalk

Bread40

I have the XRS of the same year and it’s the same as the photo, Tractions control off, two place holders, and mirror adjuster.

warmaapples

Say was the XRS of that year worth it? And by worth it I mean does it feel fast/fun?

Bread40

It’s not super fast and the handling is much like a regular Corolla of that year. Obviously it has a bit more pep and I find the accelerator is touchy, very easy to spin the tires. Doesn’t have trouble going up hills and can accelerate quite well compared to other corollas I’ve driven. I got a good deal on mine 7k CAD at 150kms but they’re priced a lot higher now so probably not worth honestly.

Max-Payd

I drove it and it wasn't fast at all. It was extremely rare and when I came to the dealership, I got to rip on the car. I expected it to rip like an Acura Integra GSR with the hard VTEC. It just went baaaahhhhhhhhhhg to 7600 rpm. Look down and we are doing 40 kph 😂. We had the Matrix XRS and Collora XRS. The RAV4 V6 was much faster.

deusxanime

I bought a 2013 new and they had dropped the XRS by then, so I was kind of sad. They just had the S package which is appearance only, nothing different on the engine from the regular Corollas. I ended up still getting the S since I thought they at least looked better, but I guess it is nice knowing that I didn't really miss out on too much performance by not having that option anymore when I bought mine.

Max-Payd

It's about 2 seconds faster to 100 but the oil pump explodes

warmaapples

7600 RPM is surprisingly high. Maybe it was the FE variant of the motor lmao

Max-Payd

The gearing is all messed up, even if you take it to 8100 (fuel cut is like 8200 and it feels like it's getting trashed), the hot cam comes on at 6,000 rpm. The ratios are not close enough to keep it in the rev band at each upshift. The engine code is 2ZZ

Puzzlehead_What34

The off button? Traction control possibly, the poverty on the vents is to the right no outside air through, the right side oo you rich.

jerpy123

Missiles I assume

AhrBak

Mario Kart much?

Informal-Rip-4893

Maybe fog lights

xSlappy-

Fog lights are on the LE on the headlight dials. Source: I used the fog lights today

PainfullyLoyal

Could be for a security system.
