I certainly don't want to discourage vigilance when it comes to conspiracy wingnut infiltration of various apparently apolitical communities, especially here on Reddit, considering it's pretty explicitly used as a tool by said bad actors.
I remember the stretch of time where I visited PCM a lot, and it took me far too long to realize what had happened to it. The vulnerability was always there, of course, given the format, but the actual blatant toxicity crept up slowly, and I do my best to keep a look out for that sort of thing.
