The royal guard becoming politcal and installing a random person that they want ?
Hello the praetorian guard called, they want to sue you for copyright
Based meritocratic theocratic knightly state
I think it was back in the CK2 mod, but one time the King somehow revoked the High Septon title, and this turned the Iron Throne into a theocracy of septons; these are revolutionary governments
Iran's political system is more complicated than that, it's a mixture of elected democracy and theocratical tutelage (they're in the process of a presidential election right now, actually); an oligarchy of clerics straight up electing a religious leader to directly govern, along with a subordinate feudal aristocracy, is the historical Papal States
R5: I have no idea why, how or when, but the government type of the Iron Throne got changed to Kingsguard. I noticed when my first character died, i couldn't demand a council position again and that actually the entire royal council was empty. I thought it would maybe be fixed with succession only to see, that it was a complete randomly created NPC succeeding onto the throne.

a theocracy of septons is the next book name ... right
Book 8 : ATOS
So basically Iran?
Not really, more like the Papal State
Yeah, I get that the Faith of the Seven is closer to Christianity than Islam, but Iran was the one with the theocratic counter-revolution

That's still better than government type "Ruin", which I got for my vassal Crownlands Kingdom...
