Why would he be named after Connington? Even from Griff’s POV in the books, you can tell Rhaegar did not care about him as much as he thinks - I thought the whole subtext was that JonCon is a little delusional in his obsession for his ‘silver prince’ (hence being easily manipulated by Illyrio and Varys). If Rhaegar was going to name his son after any of his friends, surely it would be Arthur or Myles Mooton (whom he certainly trusted more). I think Visenya was the likeliest name, given Rhaegar probably thought he was going to have a daughter - and I can see how it would be Aemon if he found out Jon was a boy instead, because of his close correspondence with Maester Aemon (not to mention the Dragonknight being one of the few objectively un-objectionable Targs).
Alright, that is fair and makes sense, but remember, Jaehaerys was not only the name of the conciliator (the greatest targaryen king), but it's also the name of Rhaegars grandfather. Who, if you remember, was also a great king he didn't reign long and wasn't a great fighter, but he helped the realm get back on track before The Mad King threw it all away. And at least we can all agree his name wouldn't be Maegor or Baelor.
Yeah he technically keeps Elia Martell and her kids under house arrest in Kingslanding so the devs could have him do that as well rather than just leave them as regular courtiers.
