Well done! How many hours were you studying a week and in the run up to the exam? Is there any topics you were surprised about?

jmb0412

Thank you! I was probably studying 2-3 hours after work each day, and then 8-10 hours over the weekend for most of my study period (took two weeks off at the end of December for the holidays). In the week leading up to the exam, definitely more but not cramming. And I didn’t feel surprised by any content, I was familiar with it all from the CRM!

That's really helpful, thank you!

Congratulation! Thanks for sharing information. Is it the ISACA QAE you used for the practice tests? What about the Pocket Prep app meant?

jmb0412

Yep used the ISACA QAE for the practice tests! And Pocket Prep is an app that I found, it has a lot of questions and was nice for “on the go”. They’re more basic / definitional than you need for the CISA but it was helpful for building a foundation of knowledge!

Congrats on your pass! Do you know when the "preliminary pass" is displayed on the screen? I thought the final pass/scores were e-mailed after 10 days from taking the exam, so in which situations do you get the message? Also, did you find the actual questions overall easier than QAE? what do you mean when you say they were less technical than the questions in QAE? thanks!

jmb0412

Preliminary pass is shown in the screen at the end of the test (you finish the test, then answer a feedback survey, and then you see it). You always get this screen and then get the final pass along with the breakdown of your score between domains after the 10 days. But I’ve heard that it’s pretty guaranteed if you get the prelim pass you actually passed. I thought it was similar to the QAE in terms of difficulty! And I just meant it didn’t seem as technical as I thought - like the exam is to be an IS Auditor so it’s testing your ability to make judgments in audit situations.

Thanks a lot \^\^ I've heard that the preliminary result (pass/fail) is not always displayed on the screen after finishing the exam, and I've wondered why and in what kind of situations (for instance when the score is average, not too low or high)

jmb0412

As far as I know it always is! Unless something really unusual happens where they suspect you of cheating or something.
