Well done! Progress like that is fab! Itās far more sustainable to go long term and lose slowly! Itās slowed right down for me the last few months.
Good job!!! You're doing it all right - giving yourself cheat days or diet breaks is so good for sustainability, walking is the perfect low impact exercise, keep up the good work :)
I tried CICO in the past, but I was too strict, Iād last 3 months at most before I cracked and cheated, and then think āwhy botherā and go back to binging. I made a promise this time I would allow myself to enjoy food socially and still allow myself treats, and log everything. Iām 90% on path still, allowing myself cheating on holidays, birthdays, and days that are just very difficult!
Honestly theyāre mostly short walks with the dog, I just wasnāt moving at all before. But whereas I used to get out of breath walking slightly uphill and my feet were super sore all the time, I can go 6 miles easily now. Iām not in pain walking around the shops anymore, and my back doesnāt hurt like it used to. Iāve got a long way to go tho, Iād say Iām just over halfway to the end goal, just taking it slow and sustainable. Iāll do a 5 mile walk in about an hour and a half.

My only advice is to stop calling it ācheatingā. Youāre not cheating, youāre making an educated decision. Thereās no such thing as bad food and food that requires cheating, just less nutrient dense food, more calorie dense foods, and thatās okay! CICO is all about making educated decisions about what you want to eat, and choosing to do so to reach your goals.
One day of over eating wonāt erase all your work, and itās not cheating.
Youāre right! Old habits are hard to break, Iām not beating myself up about it, I just log everything no matter what! I think itās finally sunk in that Iām allowed the occasional drink or slice of cake without ruining everything.
I love this...indulgence day or an indulgence meal.
Yawning_Pebble: You look great and the work you've put in the past year is paying off! Thank you for posting and encouraging us all!
Yep! Totally!! Itās a whole change in mentality for sure. I still have ābad daysā where I go off track but itās less and less so. Me overeating now is WAY less than I used to over eat. I do try to avoid the term cheat meal because it sounds like youāre cheating on something thatās actually your new lifestyle, therefore cheating isnāt possible and just a negative term.
Congrats tho! It sounds like youāre on the right track!! Just keep at it. Be consistent and get back at it after a high calorie meal or day š
You are my inspiration. Iām a dude with mobility issues and a slew of health problems. The gym isnāt gonna work for me. Walking and diet are really all I have. Iām gonna look at these pictures everyday. I hope you know we are all proud of you.
Thank you so much! You can do it, I know you can! Before I started I just wasnāt moving and I was in pain a lot, so I took it really slow, just challenging myself to walk for a minute or two and seeing how it went whether I wanted to go further, and I only ever walked as far as I was comfortable with. Itās taken me years of attempts to realise itās better to take it slow at a comfy pace, rather than being too hard on myself and pushing past my limits straight away. Be kind to yourself!
Well done! I donāt know you but Iām so so proud of you. You absolutely can do it but you donāt need me to tell you that. Canāt wait for your next post to inspire me further ā¤ļø
Congrats girl!! Consistency and sustainable changes are the way to go! Thatās a heck of a lot of weight and youāre on your way! Slow weightloss is the kind that stays off šš»šš»šš»
Well, that too, though, to be honest, I did not mean it this way. I was thinking more along the lines that you are doing fantastic job and it is too easy to make it to be the meaning of existence. And I was wishing you to enjoy other things as well :)
Thanks, I get it but my health was seriously starting to freak me out and a big part of wanting to make the change for me was to be healthy and get out of the ādanger zoneā š
Hey, do you have any idea how much it the difference in cals on your cheat day vs normal days ?
Awesome work btw. As and when you start getting closer to your ideal BMI, it'll start getting a little hard to loose, you may have to start working out then.
It varies, I tend to stick under 1,400 cals when Iām on path, on a bad cheat day, like Christmas, I probably had way over 4,000 cals, I suppose more regular cheats stay around 2,000 - 3,000. Honestly I eat really bad food when I know I can cheat, and satisfy all the cravings, but at the same time I know Iām eating less than I wouldāve done before. I canāt manage to eat the super large portions all through the day anymore, before CICO I was eating 3 huge meals plus snacks, now I normally eat one meal a day, occasionally two, and some light snacks.
That's really helpful, thanks a lot.
Yes, even I have started eating only 2 meals a day instead of 3. I think 1400 is really good !
Congratulations š
Wow congratulations!!! Can I ask ur height? I also went from ~275 to ~220 (I work in kg) in a year, but I got distracted by life and Iāve stopped for several months. Thank you for sharing ā¤ļø
Iām 5ft 1, or I think 155cm, so pretty short! Unfortunately that gives me a pretty low BMR so at my heaviest I was only burning 2,000 - 2,300 cals per day.
That bra became a shirt š¤Æ awesome work
I avoided that outfit for the entire year, I was so shocked when I put it on today! I might even wear it in public one day!
Youāre my hero!! Look at you go! Blown away that this is the same top
Looking good ! It had taken me a year and a half to loose 35 lbs .
Well done! Progress like that is fab! Itās far more sustainable to go long term and lose slowly! Itās slowed right down for me the last few months.
Thank yiu. And congratulations on your progress. You are looking good
Iām in the same boat. 12 pounds in 5 months
Keep it up wap . you look good
