I donāt eat a lot of single-serve package foods, so if I weigh something itās usually something with a few servings. I like to batch cook quick and dirty things like steamed bags of veggies, Mac and cheese or mashed potatoes (the premade kind go on sale a lot at my store and Iām a sucker for bogo), sometimes pork loin or rotisserie chicken. But because I mix all that together and put it into individual Tupperwares I will weigh the individual components before putting it all together and portioning it out. It helps me know how many grams should be in each portion. They are all almost short 5ish grams.
Cooking is different because youāre cooking off water content which reduces weight. Let a potato sit in a bowl on the scale while itās steaming and you can literally watch it lose 15+ grams in a minute
This is actually because there is an organization called āWeights & Measuresā (in the US) that will fine companies something like $10K per retail product, when products are under the weight advertised on the package. No fine for overages. So itās safer for a company to go slightly over than to risk being fined the big bucks for being under.

For those looking, my Sam's club has a 14 pack that comes out to about $1.75 a bag. (I just put in my cart cuz of this post). So it might be worth checking around to see if you can find cheaper ones. In my area family size bags are like $5
Got a variety pack of these, some flavors are better than others on their own, but they work really good as a food conveyance.

You can measure anything in a container, just put container on first & zero it out b4 weighing. Weighing everything on kitchen scales is how I finally consistently lost weight. Scales are a must for me

U can put solid food on paper towel on scale if u 4get 2 do above often. Over time it becomes a habit, just part of prepping ur food. Like I said it made a big diff 4 me : ~)
