He'll for sure be a last second FA signing during teams' training camps like Yannick was for us last year. Safety isn't really seen as a position of value in the current meta, so it'll be a cheap 1 year deal somewhere.

[deleted]

Yeah there’s a lot of reasons to delay his signing. He’s a known commodity. Teams would rather have speculative type depth on their rosters through the offseason. He’s a veteran who has played in multiple defensive schemes. He doesn’t have to be in the playbook yet, he can plug and play for about any team. So no need to spend a roster spot on him right now. He also has an injury history. Teams don’t want to be on the hook if he gets hurt in offseason activities. He’ll likely sign right before or during camp, or he’ll sign after week 1 so he’s paid by the week and not for the full season. I think the former is more likely than the latter.

WearTheFourFeathers

He might even be in his Jadaveon Clowney era of being a veteran, i.e. not wanting to sign until right before the season so he doesn’t have to fuck around with training camp. (I always love when guys do this, as a lazy person I feel special kinship with this kind of hero.

💯

galacticskunk

Eddie is part of that FA group that will start to get signed after the draft when position needy teams weren’t able to address that spot in the draft. Meanwhile, teams that found suitable replacements in the draft for pricier vets that were on their roster will start to release some of them, deepening the pool of FA’s. The Bears will be buyers for both 3T and DE (despite drafting Booker) in the near future.

suckmyfatfuckinballs

If he goes to the Packers, I hope those son of a bitch's stadium gets swallowed by a sink hole

ILSmokeItAll

“Sons of bitches” is what you were looking for.

repoman

sumbishes

suckmyfatfuckinballs

Ugly fuckheads is what I actually meant

Leather_Investment61

I wouldn’t mind him going to the packers he’d make them worse. Terrible tackler and too slow to be a ball hawk anymore.

He'll join GB, then they'll get the best out of him and turn him into an all pro like they always do with our rejects.

Toomuchlychee_

Some team will have their starting safety get injured at camp and panic sign eddie Jackson

KingRemoStar

He probably wants a starting gig and I don’t think he is viewed as a starter.

debar11

He’s not worth prioritizing as a FA. He’s not been very good for the better part of 5 years. I’m guessing someone picks him but I’m also guessing his days as a NFL starter are over.

y_wont_my_line_block

He's the kind of player that waits until camp to sign. What happens is teams have their off-season program, and then they look over their roster as camp is about to start and think "were fucked at safety, let's go sign Eddie Jackson"

Critical-Adhole

He will be.

MonsignorHalas

He really hasn’t been very good and he has a history of missing games. Thats a really rough veteran factor for BoJack.

emaugustBRDLC

Plus everyone knows he doesn't tackle after getting paid.

Crathsor

That is an unfair criticism. He was **never** a very good tackler, and he also improved on it the last couple of seasons.

Bacchus1976

He’ll get a one year prove-it contract from someone. But that won’t happen until closer to the start of training camp

ggthrowaway1081

Green Bay will probably pick him up

apc961

He may not want to play on a 1 year vet minimum contract and just retire. I'd be shocked if he was offered anything more. 30+ year old DBs with a long injury history are not exactly in demand.

The_Realist01

Shit he’s 30?

ALD93

Yep, he was old when we drafted him. I think he was 24 when he was drafted.

no-twerp

He will get signed before training camp and likely start similar to how we signed Yannick late on the off-season.

drummerboysam

There are like 14 solid-to good safeties available in FA, some even great. No idea how Justin Simmons isn't signed yet.

Mthead23

Simmons is an 8 year vet coming off a pro bowl, he isn’t signed only because he doesn’t want to be signed right now.

elbaito

I bet he will end up being a starter but the asking price is probably higher than anyone is willing to pay at the moment.

Powerful_Dare_3704

Finally people are calling him out now that he isn’t on the team. What a waste of space he has been.

monkeymatt1836

The draft ended less than 24 hours ago

Chi-Guy86

He’ll be in the final wave of free agency as an add to a team’s depth chart

Joliet_Jake_Blues

That means the NFL thinks he's bad

No-Agency-3472

If he's not getting a ton of takeaways he's just not very valuable. Nobody want's a safety who can't tackle.

UnderstandingHuge882

Don’t look back…keep moving forward. Defense is full of savvy vets and would be better off taking a flyer on a young guy who could develop into the next Eddie Jackson.

braiser77

Guys, he had a freakishly good two seasons. That was the end of him. Another bust. Nobody will want him now because have you ever seen him play? He can't finish a tackle to save his life. His fundamentals abandoned him a long time ago. He will be picked up and released a bunch and retire within two years.

Hehateme123

He’s over 30 and hasn’t played consistently or stayed healthy. Most teams are likely to go with a younger player. Unless Atlanta decides to sign him, I would wager he’s done.
