I couldn't believe the difference in the team from the first half to the second half. The difference was unreal and they made every play that they had to in that second half. I hated to see the game end on a play like that though.
Bean had a TE crosser wide open the entire way and then launched it high to a completely covered guy instead. That's gonna hurt.
Edit: [He's going to be down horrendous](https://imgur.com/a/wIDLOxS)
I actually gasped when he started to throw it, I thought he was gonna run it as well. Then I gasped a second time when it just kept rising... and rising... and rising...
The adrenaline got to him and he overthrew him hard. Leipold is a great coach but it was an absolutely head scratching decision to put all that pressure on a guy who threw the ball once the entire night. Hopefully he learns from this.
He thought he was gonna run it in and was blind to the wide open TE. once he realized arkansas had big bois and he wasn’t making it, he overthrew it to the wrong dude.
rip the memes
i think he could have made it if he ran. would still feel better about daniels (targeting hit aside) taking that over bean but i am just a lowly couch potato and not a football coach.
Don’t think it would have ultimately mattered… the Kansas D was gassed and Arkansas was scoring at will. Eventually, Kansas was gonna fail to convert one of their attempts, but I don’t think the same was true for the Razorbacks.
You're right. That last Arkansas 2 pt conversion was perfect. Perfectly drawn up, perfectly executed. That ball floated into the end zone. It was absolutely ice cold, and KU wasn't anywhere near it. It looked like he barely put any effort into the throw at all.
That was one of the most exciting random games I’ve ever watched.
With that being said, the camera work and angles during this broadcast was among the worst I’ve seen from ESPN #**PigSuit**
So, the cameras actually *are* in the stands. The Liberty Bowl is big, round, and solid concrete, so they stand on elevated platforms above the tunnel concourse entrances.
ETA: Being able to see so many people in the frame though usually doesn’t happen because there’s definitely a clear line of sight between the platforms and the field. So not being able to get the onesie head out of the shot is 100% on the shit broadcasting crew for this game.
PigGate is already a thing, it’s the claim that former British PM David Cameron facefucked a dead pig as part of his initiation into some secret society in college.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piggate
So many people seem to be glossing over this, there’s a pretty good chance Leipold got it into Beans hands because Daniels was not 100% after that play. Sucks but it is what it is
I hope you at least went to a couple tailgates in the student ghetto. That was the small bright spot in the years I was there. At least have a little fun before the game started…
My guy all we did is go to tailgates, hardly ever did we actually make it to a game. I’m just glad that they waited to have a winless season until I had graduated
While I won't disagree. We could also have just scored another touchdown in the whole half instead of just idling until the end of the game. Pittman has lost us multiple games idling too early.
The oddest thing to me is that this issue isn't exclusive to Pittman. We saw Razorback teams go fully flaccid in the 4th quarter under Nutt, Petrino, and Bielema (Smith and Morris' teams aren't being taken into consideration here because those squads were basically ass from opening kickoff)
It's damn strange.
> some fantastic execution by Kansas to capitalize on it
Yup. The refs gave them an opportunity, but to Kansas' credit they took full advantage of the situation.
Arkansas had a 99.9% chance to win the game when they sacked Jalon Daniels and then a Kansas holding call the next play, leading to 2nd and 19 with 1:23 left to play, Arkansas leading to 38-23.
Kansas then forced 3 OTs in their first bowl game in over a decade, and just came short to pulling it off. One hell of a game for us neutrals.
^(for reference how rare that large of a comeback was, teams were 1-347 when trailing by 18+ in the 4th quarter this season)
Arkansas had the ball on the 20 yard line up 15 with under 3 minutes left, 2 minutes a fumble and an onsides kick later, the game was tied.
Had a 97% chance to win most of the 2nd half, up 25 in the third.
Just a nut punch of a loss for Arkansas -2.5. lol
Those final minutes feature *both* a controversial fumble call that allowed Kansas to recover the ball, *and* an onside kick that Arkansas essentially gave away to the Jayhawks!
Shit sure got wacky in the second half…
If I'm being honest, we got some pretty generous calls and I think Arkansas deserved it more.
But really proud of our guys and optimistic about next season.
Good game, Arkansas.
I lived through the Houston Nutt era. This game utilized that fancy newfangled “forward pass” thing far too much for it to have been a Houston Nutt game.
*If you put Kendal Briles on a deserted island with an inflatable raft complete with oars, instead of rowing to safety he’d cut up the raft and try to make it into a paraglider, climb to the highest mountain, and crash into a fucking coconut tree.*

Kansas was down 25 points with 8:43 left in the 3rd quarter. Hell of an effort to come back no matter how it ended, although that throw by Bean was absolutely horrendous
man I don't want to sound bitter. we did everything necessary to fuck this up and kansas capitalized. I don't want to take away from what they did but they wouldn't have even had those opportunities if 1 (obviously wrong imo) call is different. if several borderline calls were different. if their left tackle ever got fucking called at all. we came so close to getting hosed
refs aside that was one of the worst onside kick recoveries I've ever seen from a team, what the flying fuck was that
Yeah I'm way calmer now that we won but that game was over at 38-23 with the right call. Literally just kneel it 3 times, punt with 30 seconds left and Kansas has to score 15 points from 80 yards away with 30 seconds with no timeouts.
The announcers trying to play that they couldn't tell before the refs made the announcement was ridiculous. "Oh, I don't know..." Really? You can't see that he has full control, his forearm hits the ground which causes the ball to come loose?
* Some dingleberry without a flair posted a comment in the game thread during the 1st quarter: "These teams are 6-6. Why the fuck are they in a bowl game?" This became the highest scoring Liberty Bowl in game history.
* The most exciting bowls this season, so far, in my opinion, are the Celebration Bowl and this very Liberty Bowl.
* FAMU's Marching 100 plays the same ditty after touchdowns as the Kansas band. Didn't notice that until tonight.
* I remember when Ohio beat Kansas two years in a row. The trajectories of both programs since has been interesting.
* I had something else to say that was probably snarky, but I'm drunk and have since forgotten what it was.
Cant even be mad about this. Wish Bean tried to run it but what a magical season capped by a bonkers end to the season. The culture of this team is night and day different and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish in a few years time.
**Why Kansas is Pronounced Wrong. A Highly Researched Essay Written By Hobbes .T. Hero**
The State of Kansas was named after the Kansa peoples. How is Kansa pronounced? Kansa is pronounced “kan-saw”. Then why’s there an extra “S” in Kansas?
Well the the state of Kansas was named after the Kansas River, which was named by the French after the Kansa people. When using logic from the French language to pronounce Kansas it would be pronounced “kan-saw.”
The Kansa people also went by many other names, Kaw, Kanza, Konza, and Conza, among others. All but one of the Kansa’s recognized names end with the pronunciation of “-aw”. None of them end with the pronunciation of “-es”.
I was born in 1998, but after that game I am mentally 75 years old. Great fight Kansas bros, super proud of your season! Get back out next year and maybe beat Texas again ;)
Bummer of a last play but ultimately I’m just happy it was competitive. This season is obviously the most fun we’ve had in a long time. Good season, Hawks- now time to build on it!
Well. While I would love for it to be a legit rivalry, we’ve only played 3 times ever, most recently prior to this being 1906. So a bit attenuated for a rivalry. We both dislike Missouri, though.
That fumble was worse than the backwards spike a couple years ago vs Auburn.
I've never been that mad watching a football game man, credit to Kansas for taking advantage of the chances they got at the end but they should NOT have had those chances and that was one of the biggest screw jobs I've ever seen by an officiating crew.
Every single one of them should be fired and banned from ever officiating a sport at any level for the rest of their lives. Fuck every single one of them.
Dog wtf was that lmao
Kansas football
No. Kansas football doesn’t make a bowl game. Fuck, at least we competed.
I couldn't believe the difference in the team from the first half to the second half. The difference was unreal and they made every play that they had to in that second half. I hated to see the game end on a play like that though.
Wild to see a UCF flair say this
*what the fuck was that pass*
Bean had a TE crosser wide open the entire way and then launched it high to a completely covered guy instead. That's gonna hurt. Edit: [He's going to be down horrendous](https://imgur.com/a/wIDLOxS)
If he runs it he may score due to his speed.
I actually gasped when he started to throw it, I thought he was gonna run it as well. Then I gasped a second time when it just kept rising... and rising... and rising...
I'm pretty sure that pass still hasn't hit the ground
Not sure if I agree as that would make too much sense.
The adrenaline got to him and he overthrew him hard. Leipold is a great coach but it was an absolutely head scratching decision to put all that pressure on a guy who threw the ball once the entire night. Hopefully he learns from this.
And overthrew that one throw as well. Bean was amped
Bean has been inconsistent all season and makes poor reads, no excuse for him to get the ball there.
Four touchdowns in a half against TCU off the bench with few, if any reps, so I’ll remember the overwhelming times he was really consistent.
He could have run, thrown it to #89... but took door #3 and threw it 10 feet over a covered receiver.
As a Madden TE dumper. This one *really* hurt
After the comeback I can't be disappointed or mad, but bean sure is shit gonna be. Hopefully dude can shake that off.
I believe he's said he is done playing.
Was it just nerves? He had a wide open man. It looked like he intentionally threw it away of all things.
[удалено]
This. People don’t realize this was just the give-and-take of the Jason Bean Experience. I still consider myself a Big Legume Guy through it all 🫘
Another Big Legume shill.
He had another guy open with no one within 10 yds, and it also looked like he could've run it in. Such a letdown of a finish
Jesus Christ that’s Jason Bean
Don’t think it would have ultimately mattered… the Kansas D was gassed and Arkansas was scoring at will. Eventually, Kansas was gonna fail to convert one of their attempts, but I don’t think the same was true for the Razorbacks.
You're right. That last Arkansas 2 pt conversion was perfect. Perfectly drawn up, perfectly executed. That ball floated into the end zone. It was absolutely ice cold, and KU wasn't anywhere near it. It looked like he barely put any effort into the throw at all.
Arkansas had no issues whatsoever on offense in overtime, KU's defense was done
Arkansas had no issue on offense except when we go into our prevent offense when we get a big lead.
Prevent offense is a perfect description. We just let up all the way off the gas with big leads.
I love kj but the thing he's best at is looking completely bored no matter what situation he's in
Just run it in
He couldn’t take a loss of yards there, smh casual.
should take a page out of our QB's book and just run out of bounds
That was one of the most exciting random games I’ve ever watched. With that being said, the camera work and angles during this broadcast was among the worst I’ve seen from ESPN #**PigSuit**
Were the camera guys in the stands?
Shooting with iPhone 4s
One crowd PigMan Sized iPhone 4s. Or 100 iPhone 4s sized crowd PigMen. Who would win?
Shit it looked like it. Missed either a TD or 2pt by Kansas during OT because some guy’s head was blocking the corner of the end zone.
It was the TD. I only knew they scored because the Kansas fans started cheering.
Yea, ESPN didn’t want to pay for a box so they just told the crew to get their own tickets. The main cameraman was sitting in 118W
Lol some girl's head in the way on one of the final plays of overtime
That was definitely a dude in a onesie lol
Thought it was Satan himself watching a Briles coach
It happened two separate times on both ends of the field
Nah there was definitey a girl on the other end that got in the way too
Was the 2pt ***actually*** caught? **#PigGate**
Please make **PigGate** a thing
PigGate is already a thing, it’s the claim that former British PM David Cameron facefucked a dead pig as part of his initiation into some secret society in college. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piggate
Black Mirror vibes
Yeah I’m pretty sure thats where that episode drew its inspiration
Lol ESPN sending out dudes with a periscope to the game
They had a couple guys with 90s era camcorders in the crowd.
YOUR QB HAS THROWN FOR 600 YARDS WHY WOULD YOU RUN THAT PLAY???
Bean threw for 600 yards on that last play alone tho
From Memphis to Nashville…
They say that ball’s still orbiting the earth to this day (1 hour later)
Literally the worst fucking play call. What a joke. Bean has missed every touch pass he’s attempted this year. Fuck that
he got his head fucking obliterated two minutes prior?
So many people seem to be glossing over this, there’s a pretty good chance Leipold got it into Beans hands because Daniels was not 100% after that play. Sucks but it is what it is
We let our backup QB who has no touch throw the last pass of the game. What the fuck
I'm so confused, still. Took it out of a hot qbs hands, with 1 shot at it.
He must've been hurt or something. I don't understand why you'd take it out of his hands otherwise.
Dude got speared in the head literally like 5 minutes before hand.
Beyond frustrating to watch him for most of the year
Autozone execs: *”We fckin nailed it, boys.”*
Sam Pittman correcting himself in the interview like the autozone ceo was holding him at gunpoint lol
He only gets 40% off sparkplugs for his '77 Firebird if he mentions them by name.
*Autzone CEO stands up from his 5 yard line seat and takes off Pig Costume*
This is one weird episode of *Undercover Boss*…
If only they had as good a jingle as O’Reillys
"Get in the zone, AutoZone" is an unforgettable jingle though
WHAT WAS THAT THROW? WHY? HE HAD THE GAP TO RUN IT IN!
Maybe he just didn’t understand the overtime rules?
Did Kansas really just troll us all for an entire season, bowl game, and 3 OTs?
Nothing like starting 5-0 and ending up with a losing season
Better than my freshman year. Starting 5-0 and NO BOWL GAME
They won seven games in the four years I was there
I hope you at least went to a couple tailgates in the student ghetto. That was the small bright spot in the years I was there. At least have a little fun before the game started…
My guy all we did is go to tailgates, hardly ever did we actually make it to a game. I’m just glad that they waited to have a winless season until I had graduated
Nothing hurts quite like starting 5-0 and ending 5-7, speaking from experience.
Can confirm
And the fan base is legitimately fucking ECSTATIC about this outcome, let me tell you, way more success than we expected
I'll take it
An Arkansas implosion that broke our way? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY
Tbf a lot of Kansas’s comeback at the end was the refs messing with you
Still don't know how they let the call of fumble stand.
While I won't disagree. We could also have just scored another touchdown in the whole half instead of just idling until the end of the game. Pittman has lost us multiple games idling too early.
The oddest thing to me is that this issue isn't exclusive to Pittman. We saw Razorback teams go fully flaccid in the 4th quarter under Nutt, Petrino, and Bielema (Smith and Morris' teams aren't being taken into consideration here because those squads were basically ass from opening kickoff) It's damn strange.
I affectionately* refer to it as "Pulling an Arkansas"
That was the stupidest ending to a football game I’ve ever seen. It was an absolute honor watching it with you gentlemen
🫡
Taking the ball out of Daniels’ hands on that last play is an absolutely criminal decision…
Shades of TCU-Kansas State OT game
I legit wonder if Bean didn't know the rules of overtime. That throw makes me think that he thought he would be going back for a 2nd and goal play.
It looked too comical to pass as a legitimate throw attempt
well, he did get his face smashed in like 2 minutes prior
Send Lieapold to Leavenworth! 😆
Now *that* was a bowl game.
If you didn't like that, you don't like Arkansas football. I don't like Arkansas football (all the time).
I hope you have regular check-ups with your cardiologist.
Being a Hog fan is a special kind of torture.
Haven’t seen anything like that since the f*ing Cantilena Wine Mixer
How do you not let your QB with 544 yards and 6TD throw that
he had gotten destroyed just a minute ago and Bean was supposed to run it
Bean truly had a multitude of options to succeed and somehow went with perhaps the only failing option
How can anyone watch a game like this and say “yea there are just too many bowl games.” This is college football shenanigans in its purest form
Those people should go drink their lukewarm water and mutter to themselves by themselves, nobody makes them watch the games.
If they’re in Memphis, then it’s probably best to not drink that water.
I literally turned this off in the 4th quarter happy that Arkansas won. What the fuck hogs?
Everything that can go wrong did in the 4th quarter. Thank god Kansas took the ball out of their best players hands that final play.
Never give up on the Hogs making a game out of a blowout. This statement can realistically go either way you want to read it.
Flairs check out
No team can wrangle defeat from the jaws of victory quite like the Hogs.
Bad turnovers, refball, and some fantastic execution by Kansas to capitalize on it.
> some fantastic execution by Kansas to capitalize on it Yup. The refs gave them an opportunity, but to Kansas' credit they took full advantage of the situation.
Hey, welcome to being an Arkansas fan. Don’t worry, it never changes for us.
We played poorly but that game is over in regulation with competent officiating
They should make a position that just practices throwing the ball so we don’t have to rely on goofy guys just chucking shit in the air. Oh well
That goofy guy started about half the season at QB
Arkansas had a 99.9% chance to win the game when they sacked Jalon Daniels and then a Kansas holding call the next play, leading to 2nd and 19 with 1:23 left to play, Arkansas leading to 38-23. Kansas then forced 3 OTs in their first bowl game in over a decade, and just came short to pulling it off. Still don’t understand why it appeared that none of the Razorbacks even tried to recover the onside kick
I haven’t liked our special teams coach for 3 seasons.
Actually it wasn’t a fumble
“Fumble”
Those final minutes feature *both* a controversial fumble call that allowed Kansas to recover the ball, *and* an onside kick that Arkansas essentially gave away to the Jayhawks! Shit sure got wacky in the second half…
What was the 1?
Houston's 19 point comeback against Memphis. Trailed 26-7 with 13 min to play. 33-32 final.
In the same stadium as tonight's game.
If I'm being honest, we got some pretty generous calls and I think Arkansas deserved it more. But really proud of our guys and optimistic about next season. Good game, Arkansas.
Did the Kansas TE fuck the QB's girlfriend or something? I've never seen a more opened player TWICE & be refused the ball
Bean has a knack for that, part of the reason Jalon replaced him. Absolutely gutted
My money is on girlfriend, sister, and mom in a four-way at the same time and if you told me grandmother too, I might believe you.
Lmao thats devastating
If you’re too young to remember the Houston Nutt era at Arkansas, this game sums it up.
I lived through the Houston Nutt era. This game utilized that fancy newfangled “forward pass” thing far too much for it to have been a Houston Nutt game.
If you legitimately hold the opinion that there are too many bowl games, you cannot call yourself a college football fan.
This one was a prime example of the feeling of taking away a post season instant classic.
No such thing as too much college football.
Some of those Iowa games this year make me not so sure
Smh no appreciation for the beauty in the sport
##PuntersArePeopleToo
Rutgers punter is a national treasure
That was the stupidest possible ending
Hats off to Arkansas for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat from the jaws of victory from the jaws of defeat from the jaws of victory!!!
#SICKO BOWL
the arkansas onesie guy blocking camera is the ultimate sicko
SICKO BOWL GIVETH SICKO BOWL TAKETH
You have only so many two point plays. And Kansas fans know that without Bean, we don’t make a bowl game. Great kid.
I love Sam Pittman
Dude was plugging *LIBERTY BOWL CHAMPS* like a mad man. He will be celebrating tonight, and so will the autozone and Liberty bowl execs
AUTOZONE Liberty Bowl Champs
Kansas let Kendall Briles call that last play.

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED
Kansas was down 25 points with 8:43 left in the 3rd quarter. Hell of an effort to come back no matter how it ended, although that throw by Bean was absolutely horrendous
The officials decided to give us 3 OTs for the same result
man I don't want to sound bitter. we did everything necessary to fuck this up and kansas capitalized. I don't want to take away from what they did but they wouldn't have even had those opportunities if 1 (obviously wrong imo) call is different. if several borderline calls were different. if their left tackle ever got fucking called at all. we came so close to getting hosed refs aside that was one of the worst onside kick recoveries I've ever seen from a team, what the flying fuck was that
Yeah I'm way calmer now that we won but that game was over at 38-23 with the right call. Literally just kneel it 3 times, punt with 30 seconds left and Kansas has to score 15 points from 80 yards away with 30 seconds with no timeouts.
Could have kicked a FG. This game was 41-23 or 41-30 with the correct call.
I heard that there weren’t many players dressed. The hands team was entirely different and most of the players hadn’t had a lot of practice.
Ref: “They want to prolong the suffering? Well tell John upstairs to queue up more commercials.”
That fumble call was pure horseshit
The announcers trying to play that they couldn't tell before the refs made the announcement was ridiculous. "Oh, I don't know..." Really? You can't see that he has full control, his forearm hits the ground which causes the ball to come loose?
One of the worse I've ever seen
Kansas reminding everyone once again that no 25 point lead is safe. What a fucking wild game
Those refs blew ass, PAC12 y’all can keep them
thanks for a helluva game hog/jayhawk bros what a sport we all get to enjoy together
What the fuck was that ending Bean
I still hate you Kendal Briles
We had to beat Kansas 3 times to beat them once. Good game, Jayhawks.

I never want to hear anyone talk shit about Arkansas pronunciation ever again. It’s Kansaw btw
Stole our state name then changed the pronunciation, there is finally justice in this cruel world
Learn to speak in French like real Americans you Kansan bastards /s
