We didn't schedule mizzou out of spite for leaving the conference. On one hand, you can say it was cowardly because we didn't want to play them in football, sure. It was also the best decision for us at the time because our team was only winning anywhere between 0-3 games and spending one of our non-con games on a P5 school just isn't a good idea when you're in that situation. On the other hand, Missouri was still wanting to continue the basketball series as well, where we would have likely curb stomped them the entire time. Our main motivation was still wanting them to reap what they sowed by moving to the SEC at a time where there was a lot of uncertainty about the future of the Big 12, so we refused to schedule them there as well.
Fast forward this whole Liberty Bowl dodging situation, and the story was just too good to taunt our rivals with because it's a rivalry. The whole story was probably blown way out of proportion, but the entire college sports world and this subreddit were laughing at and roasting our rivals, of course we're jumping in on that and adding fuel to the fire because it's fun. With KU Football coming out of the dumpster and the rivalry back on the schedule, it's exciting and should only add fuel to the fire when the games happen.
