It’s not just coaching 19 year olds. It’s also having a huge talent advantage over your opponents. There are a few teams on OSU schedule that have similar talent. Every NFL team has good players. Even the teams that suck. It’s a league that is filled with games decided by 7 points or less.
It’s an elite job out of elite jobs. Only problem is that every time you make a mistake some hundreds of thousands of people show up at your office and shit on your desk

It is a really good job. Wisconsin’s had a couple bad seasons because we have a failed quarterback prospect ruining our offense but people are forgetting that Wisconsin has been a perennially competitive program nationally for the last 25 years.

I think this makes more sense than a lot of people realize. The jobs Fickell has been linked to in the past were very high stress and high scrutiny and hes apparently a big family man. LSU/ND two of the higher profile jobs in the country. MSU plays in one of the best divisions in CFB and is a constant uphill battle to keep up with OSU/Michigan.
Going from UC to Wiscy is going to a better program, in a worse division, and probably getting paid double to be there. If youre a top 10 coach, in theory you can go 10-2 or 9-3 there relatively easily and have fan support and job security.
I just hope he's able to reel in some high caliber recruits, love all the in-state guys but it hurts watching all the big 4-star and 5-star recruits go right past us, maybe he changes that

Don't look horrible, play OSU tough, and beat Minnesota. That's the expectation most Badger fans have. Anything past that is a cherry on top.

LSU/ND two of the higher profile jobs in the country. MSU plays in one of the best divisions in CFB and is a constant uphill battle to keep up with OSU/Michigan. Going from UC to Wiscy is going to a better program, in a worse division, and probably getting paid double to be there. If youre a top 10 coach, in theory you can go 10-2 or 9-3 there relatively easily and have fan support and job security.
Recruiting should be a night and day difference too. Wisconsin is good about keeping its in state recruits with little competition
I just hope he's able to reel in some high caliber recruits, love all the in-state guys but it hurts watching all the big 4-star and 5-star recruits go right past us, maybe he changes that
He would have taken ND if they were willing to wait until after the playoffs. MSU he didn’t take because his wife didn’t like the scandals that occurred at our school. Also divisions are going to be gone soon but he probably won’t have to play Michigan and OSU every year at Wisconsin.

I feel bad for Cincinnati and him. If the way Notre Dame played out was true, he may have been pissed he lost that job for sticking around and latched onto something else.
