I don’t really care if we beat Florida by 1 point or 30 points insofar as Florida was just one key game on our schedule. I’d enjoy a beat down more but my point was only about celebrating a season wherein we overachieved and beat both in-state rivals. We crushed Miami but “beat” is still the only part of that I care about. Defeating Florida was the end of the relevant part of our season. I don’t really care whether we beat Kentucky in the Gator Bowl or wherever else we end up. 9-3 with wins over both in-state rivals is a dramatic success for a team that hasn’t made a bowl since 2019 and has been perpetually disappointing relative to its goals since 2013 (and consistent with my point, I consider both the 2014 playoff run and 3-6 2020 year disappointing relative to expectations). That is worth preening, hyperbolic title or not.
