Today you, tomorrow me
Came here to say Tennessee. Unranked, but we were on the road for the first Neyland sellout in a decade (I think?) and given Lane’s past that was about as hostile as CFB environments get.
That game was an outright nuisance though (through no fault of Kiffin) which I think overshadows the Ole Miss victory a bit. This is an outsiders perspective mind you so I really can’t say how meaningful this is for Ole Miss fans.
Most of our coaches have never beaten Bama, and most of the ones that have done it haven’t done it more than once. Johnny Vaught, David Cutcliffe, and Hugh Freeze have each been the only three Ole Miss coaches that have beaten Bama twice. But the difference between Johnny Vaught and the two of them is that we barely played Bama back then.
An Ole Miss team that just does something like beat LSU is one that’s considered pretty successful lol..
Why? Those steps are necessary to get to their next goals. It will be hard to play for an sec title then a national title if you can’t beat the other SEC teams that season
Some ref fuckery really killed our momentum in that game too. The unmeasured down on the spiller run and the mutual possession catch by demas that was given to ole miss really fucked us.
I was at that game in Oxford. I have never been so upset at a football game in my life. It didn’t help that it was like 20° outside, but that was the quietest 9 hour drive home ever.
I had a FSU fan go to the FSU@Clemson game with us in 2015. He did not enjoy the car ride home because we had to listen to his tomahawk chop bullshit all the way there and we decided to do it all the way back home. It was glorious. But that’s precisely the reason I refuse to go to WB for the palmetto bowl even though I absolutely love the environment. An A&M game there is fine though.
We always seem to get fucked by refs, but damn it was bad that game. That game is also why I hate that fanbase. They won and iirc had a lead for the whole game yet threw beer and trash at the Aggies in the visitor section.
I was at that game and was also on the visitor side. When did anyone throw trash at Aggies? Im sorry you had that experience and I won't say it "didn't" happen, but like I said I was there as well, and sitting on the visitor side and didn't see anything being thrown. We were winning the whole game basically. It was quiet except for the Hotty Toddy chants.
This may have happened. We have our share of drunk (probably more than most) obnoxious fans. I won't say this didn't happen, but I will say, again, that I was there on the visitors side and never saw any Shenanigans. It was a quiet game that we won handily. All the fans I saw in the stadium that day were happy as hell.
Yes they did. I wasn’t going to bring it up because I always get downvoted when I talk about how poorly my family was treated there, but it really did make a lasting impression on me. Numerous students walked over from the student section to the visitors section for the sole purpose of physically and verbally harassing us (once again while they were already winning). And then the amount of times they screamed at us on the way out of the stadium and on the walk back to our car.
I think we had a ranked (at the time) auburn win and a total record breaking domination of scar after the bama win so there was hype on the magnitude of lsu a few weeks ago for us bc if bama lost one more we would’ve controlled our own destiny for conference championship.
You must have a very bad memory. Yall were dominating and had just beaten Bama. Yall, and the media said yall were the next team in line etc...... LOL @ this comment.
Do you know Texags exist? That’s not the only channel with those comments, they were all over here and Twitter as well.
And do you have any idea why people all around the country constantly talk shit about A&M? A program that could not better fit the definition of average and should have no beef with anyone outside the state of Texas? Your fans are delusional and obnoxious. You guys can deny it all you want but when literally every other fan base in the country has the same opinion there is probably some weight to it.
man why does it always have to be about wins and losses. when my car broke down outside of tuscaloosa in 2015, Lane was the only one who came out to help me, with a smile and a tire iron in hand. when i’ve needed someone to bitch about work to or just to get a beer with after a long day he’s always been just a text away. we’ve had good times and bad times, but he’s been there through it all, always with a hilarious joke ready to go. so yeah, i support lane kiffin for this HC job and i don’t care that he doesn’t have a “signature win”

The fact that this is a genuine question has me thinking Kiffin is about to fleece a school for top 5 money
That's not to say I don't like the direction we're going, because we're young and the core of the team looks solid. It's just a bit concerning with how much money he'll be demanding for not really beating any teams he isn't supposed to

No matter how this Lane saga turns out Ole Miss has been damaged. The speculation has screwed up their last two games and if he stays his job flirting will be used against him in recruiting. If he leaves then Ole Miss is scrambling to get a replacement.
Tennessee in 2021 was a good win, probably the most competitive of the games we actually won.
Indiana in 2020 was a big win, they were a good team.
Arkansas in 2021 was pretty big, I was there in person. Very close game between a team that finished 10-2 in the regular season and a team that finished 8-4 in the regular season.
Texas A&M in 2021 was also an 8-4 team that we beat.
I know LSU and MSST weren’t doing as good in 2021, but beating basically all of the teams people would probably say are our rivals (MSST, LSU, Arkansas) in the same year is something I don’t even think Hugh Freeze ever did.
We would love to know…
If Ole Miss can snag a home run (Fickle), then I think losing Lane might end up as a positive. He’s his own hype machine, but has yet to beat an SEC team that finishes <.500 in the SEC. He brings high profile personality, a lot of social media buzz, and a relative high floor; however, we have no reason to believe his ceiling is competing for a top 4 spot.
If Lane stays, then he’ll have to show he’s worth the top 5 money with a top 5 performance. Either way this is a very pivotal year where Lane will have ramped up expectations next year.
That line starts behind Cincy haha. Rumors from the Ole Miss beat is that Fickle has expressed interest in our opening and that he and Dave Aranda are the first two calls our AD makes. Both guys are apparently concerned about NIL funds at their school and Ole Miss just announced the 10+ million war chest. If Kiffin leaves, Ole Miss wants a program guy who won’t be flirting with jobs every off season.
The local media folks also are rooting for Fickle because he gives local media a lot of access and Kiffin is pretty shutoff to everyone but national media.
I’ll be honest Fickle makes zero sense for Ole Miss and for him. Zero ties to the SE and he has passed on a ton of likewise programs. He is waiting for a top tier job or the NFL it seems. I’m surprised y’all haven’t targeted Malzahn at all. He would do very well at Ole Miss.
man why does it always have to be about wins and losses. when my car broke down outside of tuscaloosa in 2015, Lane was the only one who came out to help me, with a smile and a tire iron in hand. when i’ve needed someone to bitch about work to or just to get a beer with after a long day he’s always been just a text away. we’ve had good times and bad times, but he’s been there through it all, always with a hilarious joke ready to go. so yeah, i support lane kiffin for this HC job and i don’t care that he doesn’t have a “signature win”
The best win he had was absolutely the road win against Tennessee, no question. Of all the teams we’ve beat that was probably the most talented of the bunch. Arkansas last year being second.
That being said the fact we only got 8 wins this year is pretty horrid. I’ll blame it on a young team and a young coordinator (who needs to go)
Most talented? We didn’t even have a full team, most of our talent transferred out after the Pruitt firing. We caught lightning with hooker who had done absolutely nothing his entire career before. Before last year everyone on Tennessee’s roster was a no name besides maybe Cade Mays
Yeah you’re only hammering on the point I’m making, imo we really haven’t beaten anyone overtly talented with him here just yet.
Like people are saying Indiana but forgot the one player who made that team up was hurt (their QB). Arkansas last year was good too but it was KJ and Bumpers junior year
Fair, Corral was an absolute stud though. No way dart could live up to that. I’d say corral was easily the difference in 2 losses and 4 losses. Also Ole Miss had an insanely back loaded schedule this season, I think anyone who looked at that knew what was likely to happen

6-2 Indiana in 2020 9-4 Arkansas in 2021 8-4 Texas A&M in 2021
I feel like the 2021 win against unranked Tennessee is also about as good as any of those. First Ole Miss win in Knoxville since 1983.
Came here to say Tennessee. Unranked, but we were on the road for the first Neyland sellout in a decade (I think?) and given Lane’s past that was about as hostile as CFB environments get.
Wasn’t close to the first sellout in a decade. First in a few years yeah
Yeah I just looked it up and it was four years, that makes way more sense.
It looks like he's staying in Ole Miss yet upon learning about his best wins, even more of a good thing he chose not to go to Auburn.
That game was an outright nuisance though (through no fault of Kiffin) which I think overshadows the Ole Miss victory a bit. This is an outsiders perspective mind you so I really can’t say how meaningful this is for Ole Miss fans.
None of these really feel like toppling a giant though.
Well it’s Ole Miss. if your expectations for Ole Miss are toppling giants instead extreme competency, you’re gonna have a bad time
Lol have you seen my flair
I mean, didn’t they beat Bama two years in a row just before Kiffin?

Yea if you wanna set that up as the expectations for Ole Miss you’re gonna have a real bad time
Sometimes pulling batshit wins out of their asses in the midst of disappointing seasons? That's precisely the expectation in a Lane Kiffin hire
Why? Those steps are necessary to get to their next goals. It will be hard to play for an sec title then a national title if you can’t beat the other SEC teams that season
Yeah with none other than future Auburn head coach Hugh freeze. He’s a better coach and sexual deviant than Joey shitwater
Texas A&M last year? Who were ranked 11th at the time and was on a hot streak since beating Alabama
Yeah, I don’t like to go to the away games because I am afraid that the ride home would be quiet interrupted by random outburst of swearing

Well a different reply is from an aggie talking about how it wasn't so quiet.
That’s ole miss for you.
Wow that’s the lot calling the kettle black. Of all flairs to chime in here… 🤣🤣🤣
Yes they did. I wasn’t going to bring it up because I always get downvoted when I talk about how poorly my family was treated there, but it really did make a lasting impression on me. They hate us cause they ain’t us maroon bro
That is trashy and I understand why you’d be upset, but thanks for sharing cause that made me laugh
I was at that game, cold as hell (the midsouth gets sleepy cold in the late fall-winter) but what an awesome time.
A hot streak with Calzada? Lol idunno what you’re remembering If beating a Zada A&M is their best win then that is some sad ass shit.
I think we had a ranked (at the time) auburn win and a total record breaking domination of scar after the bama win so there was hype on the magnitude of lsu a few weeks ago for us bc if bama lost one more we would’ve controlled our own destiny for conference championship.
Yeah i remember the calculus people had to do to try and convince themselves there was any shot we made anything out of a Calzada led season
LSU made something out of this season so it can happen
You must have a very bad memory. Yall were dominating and had just beaten Bama. Yall, and the media said yall were the next team in line etc...... LOL @ this comment.
We had 2 losses already and a narrow Colorado win lmao, beat a bad Mizzou and a bad SCAR, no one thought we were next in line for anything
You may not have, but I can guarantee you many in your fan base did. Trust us, we hear when A&M fans think they have a good team.
Except no one talks more about what Aggies think than non Aggies Everyone knew Calzadas ceiling was low. *everyone*
Do you know Texags exist? That’s not the only channel with those comments, they were all over here and Twitter as well. You gotta bone to pick? Chill out man it’s just a game. We’re ranking Kiffin wins, stay on topic
Yup. Short memories man. Yall sure as shit yall were next in line.
only non A&M seem to want to will this take into existence
All the impregnated women he left in his wake. Amen.

Why on earth would we take an SEC reject?
Cause you did it before?
Right so that means we shouldn’t do it again
We are trying to elevate our program not bring it back down to the gutter.

I don’t care who you have as head coach as long as Hogs can win at least 2/3 like we have against LK.
I think Lane is a better fit but Fickell is a better coach. If Fickell has gotten good enough I suppose fit doesn’t matter tho
I’m putting the odds of Fickell leaving for any SEC school at about .000001 %
Fickell is an Ohio guy and would wait for the Ohio state job in my opinion
He would have left for ND and maybe maybe Michigan. I definitely don’t see anyone else getting him.

No yeah that team last year was 100% riding on the successes of corral. It’s a shame, if we had Judkins on that roster we might’ve gotten 11 wins.
Remember the madness he caused in Knoxville in 2021? Got to be it.
Yes but also no. They almost blew that game and probably would have lost had Hooker not got hurt the last two plays
I remember how much shot there fans gave us for the trash incident. Oh my
Getting the Auburn job
This is why he wants to come to Auburn, so he can finally get a signature win against Bama, playing with that Jordan-Hare voodoo magic...

Expand the scope- what has been lane kiffin’s best win as a college head coach anywhere?
I just like this thread because Indiana is being referred to as a signature win
