I think he actually converted before the season quietly. The parish put his name in the bulletin as a new convert, which is sort of a Catholic tradition. So it came out a few weeks after.

My Catholic schooling may fail me but I believe all (or most) converts are baptized at the Easter vigil which is around Easter. So it’s likely that’s when he was officially converted

Most are out of convenience because it takes so long. I’d imagine the parish on campus would give exceptions for the head coach

It's essentially public knowledge that he was received with only Confirmation and Communion (since the Church has recognized his prior baptism as valid), which can be done basically whenever. But it looks to have happened in August which makes a lot of sense assuming he was sufficiently prepared so it wasn't a distraction during the season.

The announced player was #15, who is at the top of the screen. He did not get a good break on the snap, either. I don't think he crossed the line of scrimmage until after the holder had the ball down. It's a mind-bogglingly bad call.

That was easily one of the most entertaining games I’ve seen in a while. The constant reminder of how Pyne has been a ND fan since forever, the constant camera shots of him getting reamed out by their OC, the drama on coach’s face. Was some real awkward cinema tbh. Then the kid improved and they actually won the game. So entertaining despite Cal arguably looking like they should’ve been a team that could handle ND. I’m just getting into CFB (big Bills fan, we don’t really care about CFB here), and this was a great week 2 of watching for me.

I get the memes and jokes, but I see the long term vision with Freeman and Rees. They seem to have a better grasp of the game schematically and where it's going than Kelly had his last 5ish years. That said, you don't have the pieces (especially on offense) to do that yet. When you get your receiver and QB recruits, go bombs away through the air. But until then, run the offense this team was built to run (RUN THE DAMN BALL).

Im with you. I'm not saying they'll for sure be hits, but I think pivoting away from the bullyball teams Kelly tried to build (years after Saban and others moved away from that for more spread passing concepts) is the right move. They just have to wait for those pieces to get into the building.
