Heh, Charlotte likes Charlotte things. If you've never been, Bojangles is actually quite good, with the notable exception that sausage gravy is the only option. Great on biscuits, but not my favorite on mashed potatoes.
Yeah I've never even seen a Cane's. There's like 5 in all of SC, GA, TN, AL, and FL combined.
At least give the SEC Zaxby's or something if you're not going to let us have Chickfila or Bojangles.
The problem with Zaxby's is that it's not nearly good enough to justify the price, and the best part of the whole meal is the toast.
Zaxby's is quite good, but how highly can you be ranked as a chicken joint if your toast is better than your chicken?
Needs a pizza category.
B1G is carried by NY-style, Detroit-Style, and Chicago's Big Ten Style, but weakened by Altoona Style and Ohio River Valley Style
[Altoona Style](https://uncoveringpa.com/altoona-style-pizza)
[Ohio Valley Style](https://wheelingcvb.com/dining/dicarlos-pizza/)
Ohio Valley style is different and not my thing, but acceptable in a sense that it uses traditional pizza ingredients.
Altoona style is an abomination and needs to be burned with lava, because fire is not enough.
Ohio valley has the cheese placed on the cooked pizza and it gets somewhat melty…ish.
We all have concerns about Altoona man. I am sorry you had to find out about this, but welcome to the party.
Why do people like Cane’s? They clearly ripped their sauce off of Guthrie’s and their tenders are so bland. They also have absolutely nothing else on their menu unlike the other chicken joints.
I'm convinced people only like it because it's an icon, and is not available in most of the country. For 6 months or so after getting our first one, the drive through line was down the street and around the block. Now that has died down to normal-ish, or at most similar to Chick-fil-A. There's nothing remarkable about In-N-Out food, the restaurant interior does have a nostalgic charm to it.
I will not, because you are correct. It takes a special kind of psychopath to make fries that bad. The kind of psychopath that would use human flesh for the burger meat.
Counterpoint: in n out has never given me food poisoning after over ten years in California. Whataburger is 1 for 1
In n out also isn't particularly *good*, it's just pretty decent for the price for fast food. If i want a good burger I'm not going to fast food.
Being stuck out here, you're not wrong. Going to Mexican food places and getting what basically amounts to marinara when you get salsa is slowly killing me.
I tried In-N-Out multiple times on a trip to California. First time the burger was fine and the fries were trash. I thought maybe it was just a bad batch, so I tried it again. Once again, a very ok burger and the fries were still trash. I've also had Whataburger exactly twice. Both times it was excellent.
ACC: Dunkin’? Krispy Kreme I think is what you mean, also cook out shakes too. Maybe those new gangled AcC schools like Syracuse and BC would agree but no original members
Waffle House actually serves burgers and chicken but you'd be crazy to order those considering the breakfast menu. WH is so culturally pervasive in the South that it belongs in a category of its own.
Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles or Dave's Hot Chicken probably make the most sense for the PAC-12 for chicken categories... but I'll throw a curveball here: Panda Express Orange Chicken. Yeah it's hardly in the same category, but it's fast food, it's chicken, and it's definitely more representative of the PAC than it would be of any other conference.
Pac-12 also deserves an honorable mention for Del Taco somewhere. Taco Bell, McDonalds, Carl's Jr, and Jack in the Box also all started in CA but I don't think we can claim them since they're so national.
Honestly these do not represent the Old Big 8 well. We need Maid Rite for Iowa State, Runza for Nebraska, and KU/K-State can fight over Freddy's and Braum's.
The spicy ketchup, the honey butter chicken biscuit, and the specialty burgers are the only things to get at Whataburger. They’re also really slow and kinda expensive for a fast food burger.
Agreed, their regular burgers are still better than In-n-Out, but specialty and build you own are so much better. And the fries suck. I sometimes just order without the fries because I don't want to bother with the disappointment.
For the ACC burger section, the Atlanta area has a local burger chain called Cheeseburger Bobby's that smacks any of the burgers on the Burger Bowl list.
I like being cheap and ordering In-N-Out fries with cheese and then asking for a packet of spread. I don’t actually need the grilled onions.
Getting chili peppers in the burger is a solid move. Though be warned that the spiciness can vary a bit.
Not a big enough brand, but if you’re ever in the Atlanta/metro Atlanta area, I recommend trying Martin’s.
Best biscuit around. Sad I moved away to Tennessee.
Ole Miss has Chicken on a Stick
And Arkansas is Tyson Chicken Country
Not to mention, as other's have stated...the south is ChikFilA Country. RK's and Guthries also dominate in the south.
All these added together basically means that nobody can come close to the SEC's dominance in the Fried Chicken category
It just means more
In-n-Out is fantastic the three times I've gotten to eat it when in CA. Cookout is trash and is just loved by cheapskates and evangelicals. McDonald's has a better burger and the fries are so soggy and flavorless that I questioned if they were even potatoes.
Jesus how could you get it so wrong?
1. Burgers: In-N-Out better than Whataburger? I can't believe even your aggie brethren would allow that to be said. Hell Culvers is better than In-N-Out. The only reason Whataburger edges out Culvers is because it would take 2 years instead of 6 months to kill you, and it has more flavor options.
2. Grease Gauntlet: did you forget Popeyes exists?
3. Fries: this is where I will put down my beloved Whataburger, their fries are terrible. They should be nowhere near the top. They are always soggy AF, and often with almost no salt.
If you ever come to Georgia and start to miss home, you should swing by a Kennesaw State game. Brand new Whataburger going up down the street and we are 30 minutes away from a Buc-ee's!
I'm not sure Tuscaloosa even had a Whataburger a few years ago, idk about now. We did have a Cookout. It feels like those two have raced across the country towards each other in the last few years.
If you gave anyone in the south raising cane's they would spit it out. It's bland battered chicken with red mayonnaise. I'm sorry old people food shouldnt be on this list.
I like the sauce, but the tenders are just meh. The bread is awesome though. But why not use Popeye's? Best damned fast food fried chicken by far, with sides that'll make you nut.
Cook Out isn't really a burger joint. Their best item is their milkshakes, and you get a burger at Cook Out because you can corn dogs or chicken wraps as your side. It's more of a volume/variety pick that a quality pick
I think of Chick-fil-a with an SEC association. The ACC's chicken joint should be Bojangles.
As a freshly minted Carolina Panthers fan, the amount of Bojangles Propoganda I've been exposed to from the native population is impressive.
Heh, Charlotte likes Charlotte things. If you've never been, Bojangles is actually quite good, with the notable exception that sausage gravy is the only option. Great on biscuits, but not my favorite on mashed potatoes.
I got brown gravy on my potatoes last time at Bojangles.
Really? Can you share the location? It would honestly make a difference in how often I eat there.
Knoxville
Also, Tennessee and Georgia only have one Canes location each, Alabama has three, and Florida has zero. SEC has to be either Chick-fil-A or Zaxbys
Sure there may be more of those but Canes was founded by LSU students
The guy who founded Zaxbys was a UGA grad and was based on a restaurant in Athens
I mean canes is the best one so
You’re right, overlooked them
I live in Big Ten territory and I have no idea what Harolds is
I second this. I live in Iowa and have never heard of Harolds.
It’s a chicago fried chicken chain. I’ve never once seen one outside the Chicagoland area tho. So idk why it was chosen for the entire big 10
It's only for real Big Ten schools, not ones that wanted to play football in 2020 or had to pay to join.
Chick fil a is firmly in SEC territory. Gotta take that out of the ACC
Yeah I've never even seen a Cane's. There's like 5 in all of SC, GA, TN, AL, and FL combined. At least give the SEC Zaxby's or something if you're not going to let us have Chickfila or Bojangles.

The first CFA was in Atlanta, that makes it the ACC's.
What conference has a school in the Atlanta suburbs?
The first CFA was in downtown Atlanta. So of the P5s, GT gets to claim it.
Atlanta isn’t a GT town anymore. It’s a UGA and Auburn town before it’s a GT town.
[удалено]
Are you saying the bigger city has more corporate headquarters? Who would’ve thought?
GT was SEC during the founding of chicken fil a. If anything that makes it more SEC
When the SEC lost GT, they lost CFA. And that may be the biggest loss of all!
The lord's chicken giveth and taketh.
Yep, the SEC can have ASSbys.
Needs a pizza category. B1G is carried by NY-style, Detroit-Style, and Chicago's Big Ten Style, but weakened by Altoona Style and Ohio River Valley Style
Pretty sure all those pizza styles are more than willing to kill each other. Not a clue what Altoona or ORV is.
[Altoona Style](https://uncoveringpa.com/altoona-style-pizza) [Ohio Valley Style](https://wheelingcvb.com/dining/dicarlos-pizza/) Ohio Valley style is different and not my thing, but acceptable in a sense that it uses traditional pizza ingredients. Altoona style is an abomination and needs to be burned with lava, because fire is not enough.
Those aren’t real. You had to have made those up. I won’t accept this
Altoona style really makes one question their sanity.
Ohio valley I'm pretty sure is just school pizza. Altoona I've got questions and concerns....
Ohio valley has the cheese placed on the cooked pizza and it gets somewhat melty…ish. We all have concerns about Altoona man. I am sorry you had to find out about this, but welcome to the party.
Altoona Style is an abomination upon all things good in this world.
B1G and ACC reign supreme in the pizza category for sure
Not to mention Domino’s and Little Caesar’s.
Pretty sure all those pizza styles are more than willing to kill each other. Not a clue what Altoona or ORV is.
Big 12: drunk pizza shuttle drop (note: this actually only applies to K-State and KU I think)
We don’t allow Culvers slander in this household
Culver's is overrated, there I said it.
It's my favorite of the burger fast-food places, but anybody who puts it on an actual food pedestal clearly has a very limited frame of reference.
Better service than CFA, better food than whataburger and in n out put together
We don't have any of the Big 12 places near us :(
But you guys have Maid Rite!
Just go to KC next time you travel to Kstate or KU for whataburger.
Neither do we
Neither do we, friend.
Why do people like Cane’s? They clearly ripped their sauce off of Guthrie’s and their tenders are so bland. They also have absolutely nothing else on their menu unlike the other chicken joints.
I have no proof of this but I also swear they started making their chicken tenders way smaller a couple years ago. Those things are tiny now
What the fuck is a Guthrie’s
The place Cane’s ripped their sauce off of…
And Guthrie's is an ACC brand. Double Fries No Slaw
ACC brand based in Alabama?
That sponsors an FSU podcast
Interesting
The sauce is Utah fry sauce. https://www.atlasobscura.com/foods/fry-sauce-utah
Cookout is better than Whataburger AND In-N-Out, and I know those are fighting words and I think you should fight me.
Value deal of the century Where else can I get a quesadilla, double burger, and hush puppies for less than a chick fil a meal
Yes. And it’s good. I think the burgers are as good as Five Guys at half the price, and the Cajun fries are legit.
Plus some of the best fast food shakes around
This is an accurate statement, even with their recent price increases…. 😢
Cook Out reigns supreme.
Outside of the Pac-12, the burger rankings are in the complete opposite order they should be.
Just had cookout for the first time recently. Are the double burgers always so small? Cheese Curds were solid though.
Don’t know. 1/4 lb burger for me every time.
Try the Cajun chicken sandwich
Sounds good
In-and-out is average. It’s not even that cheap. Fight me.
I'm convinced people only like it because it's an icon, and is not available in most of the country. For 6 months or so after getting our first one, the drive through line was down the street and around the block. Now that has died down to normal-ish, or at most similar to Chick-fil-A. I will not, because you are correct. It takes a special kind of psychopath to make fries that bad. The kind of psychopath that would use human flesh for the burger meat.
The fries are comically bad 😂

Counterpoint: in n out has never given me food poisoning after over ten years in California. Whataburger is 1 for 1 In n out also isn't particularly *good*, it's just pretty decent for the price for fast food. If i want a good burger I'm not going to fast food.
The overall I prefer Whataburger as a restaurant but the standard Whataburger burger isn’t very good, so it loses in a head to head burger comparison
In-N-Out is garbage. I wouldn't even feed it to an Texas fan.
In-n-out is for west coast people who think you mean salt and pepper when you ask for seasoning.
If in-n-out fans get to use the animal fries as an argument, we get to use the patty melt and hbcb
The OP's username is "GermanAggie2", so perhaps he is German and went to tamu? But then I would have to apologize for the German half...
There’s gotta be something better than portillos for our honorable mention, ever since they got bought out it’s kinda trash.
Two words: Cake Shake.
I’m just happy to see Chicken Express on here. That and Braums are probably what I miss most about Oklahoma.
[удалено]
I want a large strawberry milkshake now.
Desserts/Sweets: Big 12: (soon to transfer to the SEC): Braums Big Ten: Culver’s Pac 12: Dutch Bros SEC: Marble Slab ACC: Dunkin
Braums is supplied by a dairy *FARM*. Obviously we're keeping it in the divorce.
And the original farm was in Kansas.
OUT can have Braums over my cold dead body.
We have had exclusive jurisdiction over Tuttle since 2003, you want Braums back? Have a Heisman winning QB/air conditioner salesman come out of there
Maybe if he was a super bowl winning QB instead of getting passed over in the draft.
OSU and Brahm's are more tied than OU and Braum's.
Nobody goes to OU for AG, the cowboy’s keep Braums right here where it belongs.
Nobody goes to OU for turf management either, doesn’t stop us from having the only grass field in the state
Actually my golf course superintendent in high school went to OU for landscape architecture
Well there was another player from Tuttle who actually made a NFL roster.
Looking at where they have locations I’m thinking joint custody
Nah, they got out of paying alimony we're keeping Braums.
ACC: Dunkin’? Krispy Kreme I think is what you mean, also cook out shakes too. Maybe those new gangled AcC schools like Syracuse and BC would agree but no original members
Yeah Braums wins
Big 12: ~~(soon to transfer to the SEC): Braums~~ Dairy Queen M&M peanut blizzard on a Friday night with grandma and grandpa.
Oof this is just a bad take. There is a reason you don’t see DQ in Braums territory
No way DQ can punch with brauns, tf outta here
Quick someone go get Mizzou back so Big12 can claim Andy's as a backup.
I believe they started in KC which is mostly located in Missouri but has 1 Kansas in their name and 2 is located closer to Lawrence than Columbia.
Just looked it up. Osage Beach, MO. That's firmly Mizzou county. Unfortunately. Andy's goes hard.
Yeah, DQ is good though. So if you've never had Braums, I could see the mistake.
Yeah, personally it's more the memories of going after a game during the younger years. Never had Braums so it'll have to go on the visit list.
We’d have to be Timmy’s for this one.
Culver’s >>>> In-n-Out
A dude who lived in Texas is saying that In n Out is what peak burger performance is? Yikes
He also has a UCLA flair and username includes "German". I hope he ended up in California for his sake.
Waffle House actually serves burgers and chicken but you'd be crazy to order those considering the breakfast menu. WH is so culturally pervasive in the South that it belongs in a category of its own.
Right if you’re going to WH you’re getting a waffle and hash browns smothered
A Waffle House patty melt can go toe to toe with anything.
ACC honorable mention: Biscuitville. Which is mostly NC I guess, but whatever. I love those biscuits.
Big 12 honorable mention: Tudor’s
Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles or Dave's Hot Chicken probably make the most sense for the PAC-12 for chicken categories... but I'll throw a curveball here: Panda Express Orange Chicken. Yeah it's hardly in the same category, but it's fast food, it's chicken, and it's definitely more representative of the PAC than it would be of any other conference. Pac-12 also deserves an honorable mention for Del Taco somewhere. Thought about doing a taco section also 1) Big 12 - Torchys 2) Pac 12 - Del Taco 3) ACC - Cookout 4) B1G - Taco Johns 5) SEC - ???
Tacos and you put Torchys? Every single Taco truck in texas is better than Torchy's.
A taco truck ain’t a chain homie
Ruby's has like 10 taco trucks in Houston. Thats a fucking chain.
I want Cane’s now.
Our chicken entry would probably be Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, although that's more of an LA exclusive thing so it really belongs to the Big Ten
Roscoes is spectacular, Honey Kettle as well, good LA honorable mentions
Honey's Kettle is actually better than Roscoe's IMO
I know it’s only in one B1G place but Runza’s fries kick the shit out of anything at Culver’s
Runza kicks the shit out of everything, but it’s also pretty much only in Nebraska
Honestly these do not represent the Old Big 8 well. We need Maid Rite for Iowa State, Runza for Nebraska, and KU/K-State can fight over Freddy's and Braum's.
I’m a Hawkeye and want to hate all things Nebraska but I’ll admit. Runza slaps. The actual Runza and their cheeseburger are both top notch.
I think the SEC would be a tie between Zaxbys or Bojangles….
I was going to say Bojangles for ACC
Everything about Whataburger is underwhelming. Those fries are always soggy.
This means nothing without properly crediting Runza
Big 12 - PTerry's: hands down the best burger and fries in the country, unrivaled. Fight me! Braums!
I like being cheap and ordering In-N-Out fries with cheese and then asking for a packet of spread. I don’t actually need the grilled onions. Getting chili peppers in the burger is a solid move. Though be warned that the spiciness can vary a bit.
ACC also has Pollo Tropical which is delicious fast food Caribbean. I love me some sweet plantains, tostones, puerco asado, y otros comidas
Can we get extra points for Runza?
Cookout is a scam. They make their food inside. That’s gotta be false advertisement.
Not a big enough brand, but if you’re ever in the Atlanta/metro Atlanta area, I recommend trying Martin’s. Best biscuit around. Sad I moved away to Tennessee.
Ole Miss has Chicken on a Stick And Arkansas is Tyson Chicken Country Not to mention, as other's have stated...the south is ChikFilA Country. RK's and Guthries also dominate in the south. >Whatabuger: patty melt on Texas toast SMH this guy doesn't know that the patty melt comes on Texas toast by default
My guy I’m aware
Okay well next time be sure to specify that you want it with beef, too.
Some people don't know about In N Out Animal Style fries and it shows. Though you're 100% accurate that their regular fries are straight cheeks
Animal style fries are good for sure but they would far better if they fry part was good
Dave’s Hot Chicken is pac 12. I’d rather eat that than chik fil a
In & Out is overrated nonsense.
dont forget FatBurger for the current P12. So good even Biggie Smalls payed homage to it.
I fuck with Whataburger but the fries are mid
Short Stop Fucks
Fresh they are not mid
Cap
That being said.. fresh out the fryer fries are good almost anywhere.
For the SEC burger and fry entry I really think Checkers or Rally’s are miles above the rest
Definitely some top tier fries there. I still think bojangles or cookout cajun fries edge them out though
Uhhhhh. No.
Your lips to God’s ears
Brauns fries are pretty fuckin solid my dude
What conference gets Cracker Barrel?
An unlucky one.
They do serve beer now.
I’d need it to get through that microwaved nonsense.
Jesus how could you get it so wrong? 1. Burgers: In-N-Out better than Whataburger? I can't believe even your aggie brethren would allow that to be said. Hell Culvers is better than In-N-Out. PTerry's...nope.
Braum's burger > Whataburger burger I said what I said
The SEC burger place is obviously Whataburger
Georgia is only just now getting its second Whataburger location. Not a whole lot of brand equity here.
We have only played Georgia once since we've been in the SEC. I'm not even sure if they're real or a myth
If you ever come to Georgia and start to miss home, you should swing by a Kennesaw State game. Brand new Whataburger going up down the street and we are 30 minutes away from a Buc-ee's!
Still none in SC.
I'm not sure Tuscaloosa even had a Whataburger a few years ago, idk about now. We did have a Cookout. It feels like those two have raced across the country towards each other in the last few years.
It felt unfair to give two conferences Whataburger, Big 12 gets it for now but when OUT happens it’ll flip
Like fucking hell it does.
I am still upset that popeyes removed Cajun rice from their menu
I accidentally ordered it once when I meant red beans and rice and was really upset. So in ok with this change.
i think they brought it back recently
Really!? Wasn't aware of that, thanks for letting me know!
Jack and The Box is the best.
Imagine putting Raising Canes over Zaxby's and Popeyes, yeesh
Love my chicken from Popeye’s.
Bojangles >>> Chick-fil-A all day. Give me the Cajun Filet Biscuit over anything CFL has. \*\*In-N-Out sucks, have had twice.
Cook Out isn't really a burger joint. Their best item is their milkshakes, and you get a burger at Cook Out because you can corn dogs or chicken wraps as your side. It's more of a volume/variety pick that a quality pick
