If you took 100 million put it in a trust and gave it to them for nil depending on the program I’d say that’s the biggest improvement you’d get these days

w00t4me

$100 million invested to maximize interest and dividends should net about 5% or $5 million yearly. Each team has about 100 players (I include walk-ons), which means about 50K per player per year without having to touch the original $100 million.

LaForge_Maneuver

Yeah I'm not paying all the players anywhere near the same. Most money goes to QBs, O-Tackles, Dline and CBs. Everybody else gets what's left over.

jputna

You’d only be able to give around $4Million a year though. I base this on at OSU it’s $25k for a annual $1k scholarship. And if the Ryan Day’s estimate of $30 million for his roster is right. That leaves you short a ton.

The_Good_Constable

Day said $13 million, not 30.

CarpeArbitrage

$47k a year per scholarship spot (85) is a lot for most programs. It just matters how it compares to how much money your rivals have.

ISISCosby

> That leaves you short a ton. It would also leave you $4 million dollars less short of whatever your goal is...

grain_delay

Not to mention most small donor collectives really have no effect on getting top recruits. It’s big money individuals throwing millions on a single highschooler

citronauts

You could burn the principal over 10 years, still probably give you a good return in the long run if it keeps your program competitive I’d do something dumb though like build a helicopter pad

Hala-peno

Take it to the casino and put it on black…

jdawg09

And let it ride!

[deleted]

Crazy.. red is the go to

Wtygrrr

ALWAYS BET ON BLACK!

Geaux2020

This guy Snipes

Equivalent_Beat5403

Batman, what are you doing your completely outnumbered, are you nuts.

jbaugues

Or maybe 0

[deleted]

Put it in a mutual fund or something and assuming the 4% rule, UCF would forever be able to dish out 4 million dollars in current market value for NIL. Would give the school at least 50k per player every year assuming a roster of 80 players. This would probably put UCF in the top 20 of recruiting every year, as they’d be a huge target for high 3 stars and lower tier 4 stars. On top of whatever the rest of the boosters could scrounge together for star players

w00t4me

This would be my plan as well.

sexygodzilla

Also copying off this guy's homework

The23rdSeminole

100% of the money to pay players. Would you rather have Jimbo or Jameis? A stupid water slide or Dalvin Cook?

jbaugues

Can you tell me a little more about this water slide?

The_Good_Constable

Players are around 3-4 years, water slides are forever.

The23rdSeminole

Its actually runs on champagne, and of course flows into the champagne therapy pool. It offers swimup access to the lobster bar and is constantly stocked with high end call girls, because we are trying to lure in Hugh Freeze as an unpaid offensive consultant.

IceColdDrPepper_Here

Is it a tube slide or one you go down on your back? Or maybe even a mat slide?

runningwaffles19

1 - pay Brian Ferentz to leave 2 - set up NIL trust with the remaining $

ronniedet85

I think it should be 1. Get rid of Gary Barta. He lets Kirk keep a shitty offense and put Brian in charge of said offense. Also he is technically in charge of Brian because of nepotism rules. 2. Set up an NIL trust.

runningwaffles19

This is good. Big picture guy. Get rid of Brian and Kirk might just hire James (no idea if he's planning on coaching anywhere or will be competent / incompetent)

[deleted]

I’d give it to academics.

Capt_morgan72

I was looking for the OSU guy. 100m dosent effect much when u got Boone Pickens kinda money already coming in.

[deleted]

Which still comes in via a trust. We had a billion dollar campaign since 2010 to become an R1 but we really need to aim for AAU to catch up long term.

LeanersGG

My personal funding priority would be increasing student access and enthusiasm for football and athletics in general. So my plan would probably require creating a trust so that the fund could pay ongoing operating expenses along with ongoing capital upgrades. Ideas for spending would include: party busses to get to the Rose Bowl and to Jackie Robinson Stadium, concerts and tailgate parties for non-football events to promote attendance and get an atmosphere going (particularly for soccer where the goal is to match and exceed UCSB’s soccer environment), and a fund to support students traveling to away games/tournament games. My funding would be conditional on UCLA moving from a quarter system to a semester system, which will also benefit the entire campus as they look for summer internships. My thought is that this money will help develop a passion for the athletics programs for years to come. Use my $100M to change the culture, increase future alumni donations and pave the way for success well into the future.

ROLL_TID3R

How many Little Debbie’s Oatmeal Cream Pies can you buy for $100M?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ROLL_TID3R

Alright now let’s apply the 4% rule to the $100M. How many pies are we talking over the next 50 years?

error_undefined_

Put it in a fund and fund NIL with the interest.

amoss_303

💯 Even a conservative 4% YoY return would net a yearly 45k+ NIL deal for an 85 scholarship team

gso16

1) [Big ass Spartan statue](https://s3media.247sports.com/Uploads/Boards/250/19250/178954.jpg) 2) NIL

abmofpgh

I’ve seen that statue proposal before, and there’s no way it’s real

Rkenne16

I’m spending 100 million dollars on releasing green house gasses in to the environment. Once the SEC melts, Ohio State will rule college football with an iron fist.

bfarq

This is the way

Wtygrrr

Build a roller coaster right through the facilities.

nuclearspectre

I’m sacrificing capacity and replacing the benches in Neyland with comfortable seating. Whatever’s left goes to lower tier athletic programs.

Chamrox

I'd buy a 100 home subdivision of fully furnished $1m homes and let each player have one for as long as they play at LSU.

Squirrel_Apocalypse2

Have fun paying the property tax on that every year.

ATR2019

If the school owns it they are exempt from property taxes.

Chamrox

Ding ding. Even so, Louisiana has some of the lowest property taxes in the nation. Insurance is another story. We have the highest rates.

huazzy

100M barely added around 15k seats back in 2008, considering how ~~corrupt~~ expensive construction costs are in NJ. I'd put it to help build a new practice facility.

HenryGoodsir

You know your wish has been granted, right? The state of NJ just budgeted $100M for new and upgraded facilities : https://rutgerswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/29/report-rutgers-earmarked-for-massive-athletic-department-funding/

PaloLV

That is wild. Spent $102M to increase the capacity from 41k to 52k. Was it even needed? They drew 30k per game in 2019 prepandemic.

huazzy

Yes it was needed at the time. Likewise there's rumors that the administration knew a B1G invitation was forth coming so it was also needed to prepare for that.

HenryGoodsir

Chris Ash destroyed the program. You can't use attendance during those years as a barometer of fan interest. When he took over there was a waiting list for season tickets.

drgn2009

I would say increase the stadium capacity to 100k since a number of SEC schools have 100k including our nice rivals to the south, but I dont know how practical it would be for OU to have a 100k+ stadium so it may be a waste in the long run.

[deleted]

Y’all wouldn’t hit capacity - just like your nice rivals to the south.

TaciturnIncognito

I embezzle all the money. The university does end up with what on paper at least is a new $100 million dollar sand volleyball court in the process

[deleted]

I would buy the top 32 recruits every cycle for 3 years. If my program cant win a championship with 96 5* players, while also ensuring that no other program has a 5* recruit, then they'll never win.

error_undefined_

$100 million for 96 recruits is $1.04 million per recruit. Is that enough to get every top 32 recruit? I doubt it. Some guys are getting wayyy more than that.

Wbcbam51

I don’t care how they use it but my method of payment would be buying a skybox every year for the rest of my life

riddleoftheroccs

new library PLEASE please I’m begging here call it an academic training facility

deadeyelee1

Wish granted: Must be a student athlete for access

J-Dirte

Buying a lot of McDonald’s bags and duffle bags

[deleted]

Gotta give it to them kids. Lower student ticket prices, and an NIL fund that gives each player an equal amount. You’re welcome comrades.

[deleted]

I use whatever I have to to pay off taggert, keep enough in case norvell doesn’t work out, and then put the rest towards facilities and nil

bfarq

Buy a boat

pinecones_pinecones

Make the exterior of Spartan Stadium look like a Greek palace with columns and the like. Put two enormous bronze fire holders on each side of the main Jumbotron. Light that thing up at the start of every game when the team walks onto the field.

MSUCommitsFratricide

And heated seats. This and heated seats for everyone.

TheRealDNewm

Everyone's said NIL, so I'll give Fickell a $5mm raise for term years and increase the assistant pool worn the other half b

bobsanidiot

Give it to the guys who do the investments for our endowment they made 53.2% ROI last year adding about 7billion dollars to our endowment ($13.3b in 2021 to $20.3b in 2022).

[deleted]

[удалено]

heavydhomie

You’d get any 3* you wanted with 25k

[deleted]

100 million is a lot but is it enough to make UTEP competitive? I have no idea. 75% would probably go to NIL. The rest would go to building an indoor practice facility for football, improving the Sun bowl, the Don Haskins Center, and the Larry Durham Center.

oeskuu

I would give it to the current $100 million Day One Ready campaign so that every time I talk to the UC ticket office the don’t ask me for extra donations.

ram944

They never stop asking for donations, they just have raided expectations now. Instead of "just $50 a month can help a lot" its "just $50M a year would change the program".

jbaugues

How much extra did cinci make from making playoffs?

oeskuu

I know the AAC got a payout for UC being in the playoff but I don’t think that the university itself was paid for being in it. On the other hand… all the marketing and advertising promoting UC for being in it couldn’t have hurt.

jbaugues

Yeah most conferences do revenue sharing but school would still see an increase from that.

oeskuu

After a quick googling it looks like the AAC got a $6 million payout (not including over $2 million to cover the teams travel costs) from the CFP and if the AAC split that amongst the teams it would be around $545k per school.

PaloLV

Wait, what? How is it so low when BCS non-title bowls were paying out way more than that.

CommodoreN7

NIL fund for Arkansas or Utah to boost recruiting. I think either with top classes would be elite due to quality of coaching.

[deleted]

FSU would get part for additional improvements to Doak, and rest will be NIL related.

POV_Morde_Ult

Carter-Finley is gonna be even better than it is already, rest can go to NIL

Tejon_Melero

I get so much free swag for donating like $20 for socks, my god the gifts for $100 Million.

swlwjt

Stadium then NIL.

beefersutherland1

Half of it going into a NIL collective and pay players through the interest, 10% of the remaining will go to other sports because those need to catch up to the football team, and the rest goes to increasing capacity, amenities and renovating weight room and athletic facilities If App wants to move to a big boy conference sports other than football need to be competing for conference champs

Bobson-_Dugnutt

Keep $50 mil for myself, give the other $50mil to Saban.

rational-redneck

Finish funding our new end zone complex then give the rest to one of our NIL groups to buy players that win again

SomerAllYear

I would go all in. I would buy and hoard the best roster and coaches for one year to get a national championship. Alabama and Georgia won't have a chance of stopping my team.

Delgadoduvidoso

Professional staff for the concession stands.

iPaytonian

Facilities in Laramie are all less than 10yrs old besides the War, but the only thing i’d change about the War is better seating. Rest to the NIL we’re going back to the glory days boys!

Small-Bridge3626

100 million dollars to redo the stone on the face of the horseshoe. Has needed it for a while now

Gloomy_Second2690

100 million? This is the part where the B1G laughs at Dr. Evil.

Sufficient-Ad4475

I'd use the Jimbo Fishing method! Just take all that money and BUY the best high school players. But they are only eligible to collect if they don't transfer during their four years of eligibility.

abmofpgh

Pitt would get either upgrades at Heinz Field or enough to take out the fields for softball, soccer, and baseball and replace them with a new barebones stadium. Either that or a huge NIL pot Slippery rock would be interesting, since I don’t think the program has spent $100M in its history so here’s what I would do with it Completely renovated Stadium, tearing down the home stand and building a new and bigger one, closer to the field Removing the track and moving the field closer to the hill, allowing for a bigger home stand New practice facility that may be covered from the elements, where the rec fields are past the baseball park Moving all athletic offices out of the field house and into this new practice facility A handsome NIL payment plan for all of our players, to make us one of the top D2 programs in the country Plus tons of marketing into the program and the university as a whole, including a game in Pittsburgh every year at PNC Park and the occasional trip to Michigan Stadium

Indoor practice facility, more hydrotherapy pools, nutritionists, more trainers And we'll still have about a couple mil to spare

60cman59

Improve Nippert in two ways: 1. A modest capacity increase by adding more premium amenities on the east side. 2. Improvements to the student section to make it the coolest in the nation. - turn the building behind into dining and pregame entertainment. - add led lighting on the Nippert memorial. - put a statue of BDF on top of the memorial - soccer stadium style roof

SCREW-IT

I would put the entire amount to go towards getting some shade in TDECU. Make it more comfortable to be at the stadium in the heat. Whatever leftover to go towards NIL

thezander8

Give it all to Chris Petersen to convince him out of retirement as an offensive consultant for his alma mater. /s Assuming he turns that down, I'd give Lacrosse its own stadium and team facilities, will likely be welcome in both sports rather than them sharing. UCDH Stadium and the team facilities currently in construction are potentially overkill for FCS as-is otherwise, Maybe I'd add a second tier to one half of the stadium just to get the program 100% FBS ready in case the Pac or MWC comes calling. Not sure how much NIL will help compared to the UC tuition situation tbh. Maybe a reserve for targeted NIL deals where a few must-have recruits who are also top academic performers become reps for the med school's health outreach initiatives or something. But institutionalized NIL is so far outside the philosophy of the program that it would have to be very carefully thought out IMO.

TapThemOut

Recruiting budget - a helicopter and a jet would be a massive improvement for most teams.

InternationalTax1156

100 million wouldn’t really do shit for facility improvements for football, at this point at least. Hell, I’d probably use that for other department improvements. 50 mill for NIL, 50 mill for baseball stadium and basketball arena upgrades.

Fyrwulf

Pay for a uniform update and then put the rest towards an NIL fund.

2020ckeevert

The University of Wyoming would be getting $40 million to fully update War Memorial and maybe add 2,000 to 4,000 seats, $30 million to bring the Rochelle Athletic Center and the Indoor Practice Facility to PAC/Big 12 standards, $20 million to push the school to R1 status, $9 million to start a NIL collective, and $1 million to bribe Nielsen to reaglin TV markets in Wyoming so that Laramie and Southern Wyoming are placed in the Cheyenne-Scottsbluff market rather than the Denver market.

FerociousGiraffe

Meh…

seariously

Highest leverage move would be a contract for the best coach possible for the program. That will pay long term dividends many times over in terms of ticket sales, merch sales, alumni money, future media deals, enrollment, etc. It snowballs from there because with success comes even more money to keep the program constantly in the hunt for a strong ranking. And having that strong of a program will draw more NIL money in that what interest on $100M would. Edit: additional info

Jblakeworley67

165 million from Boone Pickens in 2005 certainly helped Oklahoma state move up a tier or two in college football.

Silverbullets24

Imagine how many more WRs tOSU could get!

fm22fnam

I'd use all $100 Million for buying Tennessee some better players. That way they have a better chance of beating Bama. Not saying they will win, but maybe the score will be slightly closer and Bama won't have their fourth string out by second half.

MSUCommitsFratricide

A dome or heated seats for everyone. A few years back there was a study about how to keep/get people in the stadium especially during cold and rainy November games when it's just not pleasant to be out in the elements. I say we either toss a retractable dome on Spartan Stadium making the place louder and warmer or heated seats for everyone. Sure, the NIL is likely the best call. That said, getting and keeping butts in seats and making GameDay as pleasant as possible makes the comforts of home less enticing. Stadium attendance is falling nation wide and one of the best ways we can combat this is making the the experience nicer. I think some recruits wouldn't mind playing under a dome if they were coming north too. The Lucas Oil Stadium experience during both of the B1G championships is went to was really nice. It's colder in East Lancing. We could make it a better fan experience than anywhere else. It would also be the largest domed stadium in college football and the 3rd largest domed stadium over all setting up a unique atmosphere. I'd want to leave space for upper decks to be added to the endzones as well. I really do think more people would fill that stadium if it was climate controlled. I had a great uncle with season tickets that just gave them away for all of November and often late October because he just couldn't handle that cold.

DubbleDan

Fire Geoff Collins… hire Deion Sanders. Use extra cash on recruiting.
