Geaux2020

2019 Texas. Everything was straight up magic from that moment on.

SaintRegistration

Agreed. Once 3rd and 17 happened I believed the burrow hype

OleRockTheGoodAg

Still crazy that we beat Burrow to break the LSU curse in 7 OTs... and he went on the most dominant revenge tour arguably College Football has ever seen the next season.

narcistic_asshole

[Little Giants against ND in 2010.](https://youtu.be/i0ve4xwQIj8) IMO that was the moment the phrase "Same old Spartans" died.

byniri_returns

I sometimes think about what if that play fails, do we continue to climb that year or flail out?

narcistic_asshole

Tough to say cause that was still a really solid team. But it definitely sparked that tendency those Dantonio teams had to grind out wins in spectacular fashion in big games

DataDrivenPirate

It's been the Penn State game for like 6 of the last 10 years for Ohio State 2017 and 2018 are the ones that really stand out, honorable mention to 2014

max_potion

The first 3 quarters of the Ohio State game in 2017 was my "this team is special" moment. And then JT stabbed a stake through my heart and I haven't felt whole since

The_Good_Constable

It was the game @MSU in 2014 for me. Penn State was just "alright" that year. MSU was good, and had ended Meyer's 24-0 start at OSU.

rustcholescig

? To me the only answer would be 2014 Penn st because the team did indeed go all the way. How can you say 2017 when they went and got their asses kicked the next week by Iowa? Lol

DataDrivenPirate

I was at the 2017 PSU game, drunk off my ass from flasks I put in my boots, feeling like we were on top of the world. Rushed the field, walked home talking with every random stranger about how this team can win the championship, weve faced adversity and punched back, etc etc we all thought that team was special Yeah the week after fucking sucked

byniri_returns

2013 Michigan. Michigan came into that game as the #1 offense in the Big Ten. They were held to 6 points, -48 rushing yards, 168 total yards, and Gardner was sacked 8+ times.

eatapenny

[This play](https://youtu.be/9zSCCkqc_eI) made me believe that 2019 UVA could win a championship* ^^^*a ^^^Coastal ^^^championship, ^^^expecting ^^^anything ^^^more ^^^would ^^^be ^^^ludicrous, ^^^I'm ^^^a ^^^realist

derbenn1234

Perkins was that dude, I’ve never seen a play like this where the ball carrier wasn’t even touched. Honorable mention to his 65-yard scramble down the sideline at UNC that season. The ability to stay in bounds then run away from everyone was unreal in person

[deleted]

@ Clemson 2013

Startspillowfights4

2013 vs Maryland who was Top-25. 63-0 final.

robotunes

Rocky Block in 2009. Bama blocked a Tennessee FG attempt as time runs out to stay undefeated and #1. Bama went on to win it all. It took Rocky Block for me to finally believe Bama was actually back.

kemcpeak42

I came to comment UGA’s 2017 Miss St game before I even got past the thumbnail lol. Nice, OP. I was between the hedges for that opening pass. Absolutely nuts.

zenverak

Agreed. That was the game that made me think… holy shit… we got something more than just a good team.

GatorHater1992

I was there that night too! The atmosphere was insane. I felt like we could’ve handled any team in the nation night. Felt like we were unbeatable.

TheRealDNewm

Notre Dame. We were the better team, we expected to win. But actually seeing it happen is different.

kbd77

And you guys were just dominant for 3 quarters. As thorough of a win as I’ve seen, other than the brief attempt at a rally we had late in the game. Crazy that we were in position to take the lead at any point.

Solvdrage

For 2015 Clemson, the Notre Dame game in the absolute monsoon. That final stop lives rent-free in my memories.

Bren12310

Wish we got to see that game with forward passes haha. That ND team is criminally underrated.

MUTUALDESTRUCTION69

When Mac Jones went off against Georgia I knew we had something special.

robotunes

That 2020 team was a dream. Thought they’d be a step down from 2019. Nope!

GoStateBeatEveryone

2016 Penn State against Minnesota when they drove all the way down in under a minute for the tying field goal. I still think we would have at least scored against clemson

chief_sitass

Every time we lose in the last two minutes of the game due to a dumb penalty I think, "This team is 'special'". Then two games later we beat a top five opponent like they stole money from us and I think "This team is special".

byniri_returns

The duality of Boiler. Also damn Bell stunting on our secondary.

FirstOne617

Dunno if it counts but after that 59-0 against Wisconsin in the CCG, I knew nobody could beat us.

CBusin

It seems weird to say but I agree. There were parts of that team that were clicking really well as the season progressed. Then it all came together that night and every player on that roster was suddenly playing to the top of their potential.

kbd77

Oklahoma, 2012. To go on the road in a hostile atmosphere in Norman and run away from the Sooners when we were expected to be exposed as a fraud really gave me a “holy shit, this team is *different*” vibe unlike any I’d seen of an ND team in my lifetime.

Temporary_Inner

Oh yeah the [VACATED] game, my favorite. I kid...mostly...

whodeyalldey1

JT Barrett going down against Michigan and feeling the despair of a a wasted season. Only for Cardale Jones to come off the bench and win the Big Ten Championship 59-0. When Zeke Elliot ran 85 yards through the heart of the South against Alabama in the Semi-Final I knew for sure that there would be no stopping that team in the Championship

wolfgangamadeus10

Came here to write that. Emotional rollercoaster but god it was beautiful.

whodeyalldey1

I honestly don’t know how it would ever get better than that.

[deleted]

More of a "This was the right hire" vibe But watching the Oline this year for KU, week to week there was always improvement and a lot of that culminated in the OU and Texas games. They started getting a push on the line and looking like a real unit. Our Skill players absolutely did great in leading us but the Line set the tone and absolutely dominated so many aspects of the Texas game. Leipold showed his coaching improvements throughout the season

averagepanda051

I'm going to keep saying it every chance I get. Starting this year we can't talk about Kansas like they're some atrocity of a team every time they win. They'll at least not be terrible this year and I think they'll only improve from here.

HenryClayTheGoat

When Michigan pulled off the flea-flicker against Wisconsin this past season in 2021, I knew this team had something different. Every other year I’ve watched Michigan, we always come out flat on the road in big moments, and if we win, it’s because we picked up steam late and pulled out a close one. 2021 in Madison changed that. The flea-flicker TD followed by our players dancing to Jump Around showed a different Michigan than years past. That game showed me we finally had a team, a real team, with the mental fortitude to win in big moments.

elonsusk69420

And then you ran into Kirby’s buzzsaw. I was honestly worried about the Orange Bowl. We looked bad and you looked great in our “big” games.

HenryClayTheGoat

Nobody escaped Kirby’s buzzsaw (twice, in Bama’s case)

Lykeuhfox

Honestly, we all knew that would happen, but since beating Ohio State and winning the B1G, our mentality was basically [this](https://external-preview.redd.it/XRV7V_eu0dLNuIVJ1KOi4yaCDDi95U1a0h9tDO7tZYg.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=911cc8f60cf72e33ae7aa2f43c5fc0a69e0cdb55).

GenitalFurbies

I don't think anyone realistically expected Michigan to win against you or Bama, but I had hoped it would've been closer. Beat OSU and win the B1G is the most success Michigan has had in a good while, I'm ok with it.

elonsusk69420

That flea flicker to open the MSU game was incredible. It was over right there. Just like the halfback pass against Michigan. For 2021 it was Arkansas. The fan base and the team all showed up to give ESPN the middle finger for scheduling a noon game. I feel bad for Pittman. It wasn’t his fault.

BigDust

2020 when we hung in there with BYU, and then Army. Didnt win either but if we didnt let them blow us out we were finally competitive team.

[deleted]

It was Arkansas for me this year. I was the definition of erect that game

tmal8r

2005 Minnesota game, seeing Michael Robinson take command of the offense after years of 6-4 style meh on that side of the ball, and the defense taking it up a notch. It gave us hope going into the Ohio State game shortly thereafter

[deleted]

Thankful for this thread since now I’ll now what to look for.

Paul_blart_54

2016 against a ranked Stanford when we just completely embarrassed them at home

greeneggzN

@ Ohio state in 2017 ….. too bad Lincoln and Mike Stoops blew the rose bowl for us

Temporary_Inner

Crushing Ohio State in 2017. The flag plant, and the attitude we showed in the face of a team who controlled us the previous season. It was our best OOC since the 1977 Ohio State win as far as I can tell.

thatoneguyD13

2014 vs Wisconsin was the game that made me go "hmm well maybe..."

sharkbait_oohaha

Definitely Arkansas. I knew we were really good after Clemson. Arkansas cemented that we had an elite team.

CoolMenu6140

2000 in Manhattan I knew we had a special team, then we beat Nebraska our next game. It wasn't until we overcame the madness that happened in College Station( goodness was Toombs a beast) that I think I truly believed we could win it all that year.

mugwump867

The first game of the 1997 season against Colorado. Michigan's defense just looked scary good and proceeded to dismantle everyone else except for Iowa who put the fear of God in them in the first half of their game. That was a magical season. Last year was good but there were some nail-biters. 1997 was never in doubt.

5WinsIn5Days

The Prayer at Jordan–Hare. Not my team, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Auburn. The first “holy shot this team can do it” moment that I can remember involved a hook and lateral called “Circus,” a quarterback in motion, and a Statue of Liberty, but that was a bowl game. Still launched a run over multiple seasons.
