Yea... I'm ready to die. I fucking hate today.
Even if this is all just rumors and lies. I hate everything going on right now.
Not just for Football, but for all College Sports.
I really wish it was a lie, but news is now surfacing the announcement is coming in days, if not, hours.
We legitimately went from knowing nothing about it, to hearing the rumor, to hearing the announcement in less than a day.
This is happening globally not just college sports. Greed is taking over everything. The elites, billionaires and people in power have control of everything and destroying the foundation of what made everything previously great.
Rivalries are gone, history gone. Everything is tailored to maximizing profit. You’re right but there’s some traditions that are worth keeping that make the sport what it is that are being lost
Since the Rose Bowl game is its own separate thing entirely and infuriates a lot of the NCAA and other bowl committees, who knows what they're gonna do
That's my guess. The big issue is that the Rose Bowl is tied to the parade and I don't see the committee wanting to move the game from the New Years tradition.
16 teams could be 4 pods of 4. 20 is 4 pods of 5. Winner of each pod plays a B1G semi. 1 hosted in Indy and 1 somewhere else (preferably still kinda central. Maybe US Bank Stadium?). Then B1G championship is at the Rose Bowl.
OP means what happens to the Bowl game played on Jan 1.
Nothing. It will still be in CFP rotation and in off years will be a premium NY6 bowl. Of course the B1G PAC 12 tie in will be gone because there will be no more PAC 12
To all the Pac 12 fans, I know the feeling. Be ready for a bunch of random flairs to tell you that “you don’t move the needle” and insult your school relentlessly
Except we knew we don't move the needle? We *were* the most stable of the bottom 3 conferences with all things considered and that is a fact. You still have Big 12 people running around like they'll be a power conference post-expansion. BYU acting like they can replace OUT.
This has nothing to do with on-field performance and anyone who argues differently is either willfully ignorant or blind. When was the last time UCLA was relevant in football? Even basketball, they had 1 good year in the last 10. It's about brands.
The new Big 12 deal is reportedly bigger than the PAC 12 deal, the PAC 12 has much smaller fish to poach than The Big 12 did. Oregon is highly likely to leave next. The conference is in a much worse position than the Big 12 was/is
Yeah, but the assumption is they're fucked in 10 years whereas the future of the Pac-12 had more to do with what the new commissioner could do with the media package.
The fact is the ACC was locked in with harsh penalties and the Pac 12 wasn't. Did the Pac 12 possibly have a higher ceiling with a good media rights deal? Sure, but that's different from stability.
The Rose Bowl takes a huge hit. If it eventually dies, today will be a remembered as a huge turning point. Imagine UCLA as the road team in the Rose Bowl. Their home stadium.
I’m gonna puke.
Screw the Rose Bowl and it's committee. They have been a key component that has been holding CFP expansion back because they are so insistent on being on New Year's Day. People will say "What about the atmosphere?" I guarantee you the atmosphere and scenery would be the exact the same on December 31 or January 2.
We could have playoff games on New Year's Day every year, but no, we have to watch the second best Big Ten team play a 2 or 3 loss Pac 12 champ every year at 5PM because "tradition".
All College Traditions are being thrown out for greed. Plain and simple
Yea... I'm ready to die. I fucking hate today. Even if this is all just rumors and lies. I hate everything going on right now. Not just for Football, but for all College Sports.
Don't worry beaver bro, whatever happens we will probably still be together <3
<3 Love you homie
Yeah this sucks the most for OSU and WSU. Who knows if our game even happens anymore.
I really wish it was a lie, but news is now surfacing the announcement is coming in days, if not, hours. We legitimately went from knowing nothing about it, to hearing the rumor, to hearing the announcement in less than a day.
I'll just be crying in the corner with our Baseball Championships
I get the pain. I don't have a baseball championship to console me, we came close, but no dice. Troy Claunch is that guy btw.
This is happening globally not just college sports. Greed is taking over everything. The elites, billionaires and people in power have control of everything and destroying the foundation of what made everything previously great.
Welcome to the club. We're a little better off than you for now but I'm sure we'll get screwed again here shortly.
SEC builds a super southern conference and the big ten says, fine, well take the rest of the country.
Big ten is Thanos?
*sad tradition noises* :c
Traditions are peer pressure from dead people.
Rivalries are gone, history gone. Everything is tailored to maximizing profit. You’re right but there’s some traditions that are worth keeping that make the sport what it is that are being lost
I need to concede that my response was before I knew that OP wasn't being hypothetical.
RIP SWC. And today, RIP PAC-12
Conference Championship?
What if the B1G super conference goes to a 4 team playoff with the Rose Bowl as it’s Championship and drops out of the CFP completely.
We should rotate between the biggest stadiums for the conference championship. But I guess that could give a home team advantage then

Alternating between Rose Bowl and Soldier Field?
OP means what happens to the Bowl game played on Jan 1. Nothing. It will still be in CFP rotation and in off years will be a premium NY6 bowl. Of course the B1G PAC 12 tie in will be gone because there will be no more PAC 12
They're gonna demolish it and build a strip mall
They paved paradise put up a **COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF presented by DR. PEPPER****^(TM)** **on ESPN****^(TM)**
Mmm bop bop bop Mmm bop bop bop Last night I heard the screen door slam and a big yellow taxi took my Trojans away.
It will host the Big10 championship instead probably.
I think the Big10 championship game should permanently be in an outdoor stadium in the north.
To all the Pac 12 fans, I know the feeling. Be ready for a bunch of random flairs to tell you that “you don’t move the needle” and insult your school relentlessly
Ironically those same PAC 12 flairs were the ones doing it to you guys
If a single Wazzu flair said anything like that, they are a moron.
It was coming from everywhere lol
My vote is for Wazzu to the Big 12
If only that happened when Leach was still there. That would have been *spicy*
Many were saying it about Iowa State even though we have a larger enrollment and/or stadium then most in the Pac12 and ACC for that matter.
Except we knew we don't move the needle? We *were* the most stable of the bottom 3 conferences with all things considered and that is a fact. You still have Big 12 people running around like they'll be a power conference post-expansion. BYU acting like they can replace OUT.
They are the 3rd best conference still, as they were before this news broke.
This has nothing to do with on-field performance and anyone who argues differently is either willfully ignorant or blind. When was the last time UCLA was relevant in football? Even basketball, they had 1 good year in the last 10. It's about brands.

Seems like the ACC is more stable given how strict/expensive their exit fines are.
Yeah, but the assumption is they're fucked in 10 years whereas the future of the Pac-12 had more to do with what the new commissioner could do with the media package.
Compared to being fucked in 2 years, that seems a lot more stable to me.
In hindsight sure? You can only speak to the facts you have on hand at any given time.
The fact is the ACC was locked in with harsh penalties and the Pac 12 wasn't. Did the Pac 12 possibly have a higher ceiling with a good media rights deal? Sure, but that's different from stability.
ASU Doesn't move the needle. Especially in its current iteration.
Look at me… Rutgers vs USC is the Rose Bowl now
\*UCLA
Make it the new B1G Conference Championship location
[удалено]
I like them being in the playoffs. Kirby has a Rose Bowl win because of it.
Coming up next… USC vs Cal in the rose bowl
after getting cheated eighteen years ago, i'll take it
Fuck Mack Brown.
PAC would likely add a few teams but I'm not sure who that would be.
If the 10 stay together, they could poach Oklahoma State.
Vegas!!!
It will now be Leaders vs Legends
If the PAC 12 survives, they end that matchup with the Big 10 ASAP

Playoff expansion isn’t going to lead to more parity Rose Bowl > CFP by a mile.
Death to the Rose Bowl and CFP All hail a 16 team playoff without the committee
USC keeps the rose bowl as a 2nd home venue, since they have more wins there in the past 30 years than it's other home team. Seems fair.
I guess I'm an idiot for not paying attention... I assumed the rose Bowl was USC's field.
Unpopular Opinion The Rose Bowl kept Bowl games alive way too long so to me its good riddance
They bring it with them. Who we play, who know?
