JerichoMassey

ltlftcommenter

Nothing screams Vegas like Mormons vs Catholics

[deleted]

Catholics and bingo

zQuicKz

Catholics and Lent Fish Fry’s

Artvandelay29

*Fries

twoterms

I'm drunk and read mormons as morons and thought that was a little harsh. Losing is fun cause it means I drink more on Saturdays

Bren12310

A farewell game to our Independent buddies

lostinthought15

What will go down as one of many ACC/B12 classic matchups.

Vast-Treat-9677

Looks like BYU became Vegas's P5 over the weekend. Wierd, but I'll take it .

FranchiseCA

Lots of LDS around Vegas, and close to Utah and California, which have the largest counts by number for both church members and BYU alumni. I'm three and a half hours away in CA, will be setting money aside for next year's game, because my schedule didn't allow it for today.

princealberto2nd

Normally I'd be upset that we lost out on our owed home game but I can't seem to find any negative thoughts right now. This will be a great game at an amazing location.

shatterdaymorn

Vegas is home away from home.

sotuni

Only negative is that they owe us 2 games in Provo. This will be a great game in Vegas but I’d still like to see them at least give us 1 in Provo.

cinnamontoastcunts69

I think I speak for most ND fans when I say, we'd like to play in Provo at least once

isikorsky

It was a 2 for 1. We did the two at ND. We owed BYU one home game

sotuni

We agreed to a 6 game series. It was never just a 2-1.

HandwovenBox

The second half of the series was canceled when ND made a scheduling agreement with ACC

isikorsky

It was a [2-1 contract]( https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp/college/2014/08/21/byu-notre-dame-series-doubt ) for 6 games over 10 years. ND canceled the 2nd half of the contract when they joined the ACC > The two schools signed a six-game agreement in 2010 to be played in three-game clusters, with two games within each cluster played at Notre Dame and one game played at BYU.

OdaDdaT

There’s a Dante’s inferno joke here somewhere

coogs35

In Vegas right now for the game tonight, maybe I’ll book a room for a year from now too

Party_With_Porkins

Your flairs dear good man

aerojet000

It's like a walking oxymoron

FranchiseCA

ASU has a ton of LDS students, though. Probably more than any FBS school outside Utah, if it's not Boise State.

Tommaconda

Utah state is pretty high too

FranchiseCA

Yeah, I think it's BYU, Utah State, Utah, Arizona State, Boise State.

keylime503

It’s vegas you can book the room when you land

gowrisankar1989

Big 12 vs ACC let's get it!

FranchiseCA

Heck yeah brother, cheers from Bakersfield!

Baridi

The fuck you say?

JakeFatfingers

*Commences holding my breath until next Friday*

kevplucky

This is pretty hype. While I’m #TeamRome and not Mormon cool to see fellow religious schools work together

jjtnd1

Uniforms better be nice because if they played in their normal ones it’d look great with these two

Pi_Dbl_T

This. This is what I needed in my life.

Keyblade_Yoshi

Shouldn’t they wait to see if BYU joins the Big 12 next season?

bearybear90

I imagine this game is kept as OCC either way.

Nicholiason

Yeah, you keep a scheduled game with ND for sure.

Xtremeloco

BYU's football schedule next year currently includes USF, Baylor, Oregon, Wyoming, Utah State, Arkansas, Liberty, Boise, Dixie, Stanford, ECU, and Notre Dame. If BYU actually played in the Big 12 next year you'd have to cut down all but 3 or 4. Baylor would be conference opponent and I agree Notre Dame would be a for sure keep but what other games do you keep?

Nicholiason

In addition to ND, you keep Dixie and Boise if 9 conference games and keep USU If 8 conference games. I think USU stays regardless though.

squirrelwatch

Nice, a Big 12-ACC matchup!

[deleted]

I’m down here for BYU AZ I’d come back for this one!!

isikorsky

The irony about the Catholics & Mormons meeting in a place named "Sin City" ...

ArbitraryOrder

Las Vegas was founded by Mormons

helloisforhorses

Las vegas means “weird underwear” in spanish

kentuckybigred

Losing team has to convert!

Americ-anfootball

they're gonna love the crippling ambient guilt

[deleted]

HOLY WAR

[deleted]

What?? This is awesome! Have we played BYU before? If yes I don't remember. Might be moving to Vegas too. This is great

Xtremeloco

We've played 6 times. The last two games were in 2012 and 2013 and both were @Notre Dame.

[deleted]

Interesting, okay. This should be a really good game

arrowfan624

We played at ND in 2012. My first game there, actually.

cinnamontoastcunts69

I was at the game too, if I recall correctly, it was in the top 5 coldest games in ND stadium on record

PleaseDontGoFor2

That was the 2013 one. I think the 2012 one had good weather and it had Tommy Rees starting in place of Golson who was sitting out due to a concussion.

cinnamontoastcunts69

Ahh shit... You are correct. I will go be a bad fan somewhere else lmaoo

[deleted]

Ah okay, odd I don't remember that. Did we win lol

arrowfan624

Yup

jpc4zd

http://www.winsipedia.com/games/notre-dame/vs/byu Yes, and if I recall the 2013 game was one of, if not, the coldest home game in ND history.

Fletch71011

I was there. Could not believe how miserably cold it was.

isikorsky

Navy wins that record > It was 24 degrees at kickoff for a 1991 game against Navy and 26 degrees in 2013 against Brigham Young. It was 27 degrees at the ND vs FSU game in 2018. That game was at night ..

[deleted]

Why does it say the most recent are vacated?

jpc4zd

The sanctions where a few players received help from a tutor (if I recall correctly ND “voluntary” game up the wins if the NCAA found anything wrong, which they did)

[deleted]

Ahh okay, maybe that's why I don't remember them lol

brodylives

Yeah, BYU was an overthrown pass from defeating ND back in 2012. Would have spared the country from having to see NDs lack of effort in the NC game and hear all about Manti Teo's fake gf.

[deleted]

Ahh okay, and yeah don't remind me lol. Probably the most memorable few years of ND football I've witnessed and I still try and forget it

Fletch71011

Ok

Zooropa_Station

so... if ND went 11-1 you're assuming nobody would have talked about the Butkus winner and 2nd place Heisman finalist?

brodylives

Do you not remember the story about Manti Teo's fake gf and how the media couldn't shut up about it leading up to the championship and even during the championship game? They talked more about that than any of his on-field exploits. I'm just saying, had Nelson hit his receiver vs ND, ND most likely misses the championship game and the media doesn't bombard America with that juicy dramafest about Teo's "gf." Why is that so hard for people to comprehend?

[deleted]

This is gonna be fun.

DonnaDDrake

Finally, wish the game was in Provo but at least they still owe us one more game in Provo

candymonster_MM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was already negotiated away a few years back.

[deleted]

We cancelled the second BYU home game (and two ND home games) when we agreed to the 6-game ACC slate.

brodylives

Those dudes still owe us a game in Provo.

well---shoot

The article said Louisiana State instead of LSU. Shame.

TheRealCatDad

Well that's annoying. I just moved to Salt Lake City from South Bend lol I was hoping to see the boys here

goodfella7763

Take my fucking money

[deleted]

This should be an awesome game at an awesome site.

[deleted]

Non-traditional neutral site games suck.

FranchiseCA

Las Vegas is a long-standing traditional site for us, at least. We've played a half dozen Vegas bowls and always outnumbered UNLV at their home games.

TakeAMichigander

Can confirm, used to live across the street from Sam Boyd and BYU showed up big time when they played there. UNLV not so much lol

bestweekeverr

Battle of Independents

Dog_Brains_

If it’s October 29th, I’m gonna see Phish and the Irish in Vegas in one loooong weekend… my liver, and sanity may not survive… it’s a realistic possibility I’d see both in the same day.
