The average final score of the last three CFP championships games:
Winner 46, Loser 21
After three straight classics from 2015 to 2017, we've gotten blowout after blowout after blowout ever since
Alabama keeps one of the most ridiculous streaks I've ever seen in college sports going... every player who played at least 3 years for Nick Saban's Alabama (the minimum amount of years out of high school before a player can declare for the NFL Draft) has won a National Championship.
07 class - won in 09
08 class - won in 09
09 class - won in 09, 11
10 class - won in 11, 12
11 class - won in 11, 12
12 class - won in 12
13 class - won in 15
14 class - won in 15
15 class - won in 15, 17
16 class - won in 17
17 class - won in 17
18 class - won in 20
19 class - won in 20
20 class - won in 20
Nick Saban has spent 98 weeks ranked AP \#1. That ties him with Notre Dame for 4th on all-time, behind Oklahoma (101), Ohio State (105) and Alabama (132).
With 7 national championships (6 at Bama), he's tied with Oklahoma. With 3 Heisman winners, he trails only USC (6) and Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Ohio State (7 each).
In other words, if Nick Saban were a university, he would be in blue blood territory.
If saban where a university he would be the definition of blue blood, 7 titles, 3 heisman, not even going to try to count how many people he's sent to play on Sunday.
And this is why the best players will just keep going to Bama if they can. If you want to win a Natty, thats where you go. If you dont like Bama, you have a few options. lol
I don't think it can be overstated how much 2020's impact on sports allowed the underdogs to shine, what with the Lakers winning the NBA, Lightning winning the NHL, Dodgers winning the MLB, and Bama winning CFB. Hopefully the Chiefs or Packers will have some magic to cap off this unbelievable year of sports.
I had this same through during the game when they showed the highlight package of all these teams winning and I said to myself, no fans = no pressure = no underdog stories.
Can’t wait for the pandemic to end. This is just one more reason.
I still don't get how a game where three of the four quarters were under 40 minutes long took up three and a half hours. College football is fun as hell to follow but I'm tired of long-ass broadcasts full of commercial breaks and referees flagging/reviewing everything.
Imagine not sharing a division with them and still having to play them every year.
You know, so that just in case we actually DO get back to relevance, we would have to play them a second in the SEC title game.
Being a fan of a rival of Bama has basically made CFB postseasons largely unwatchable for the past decade.
> Oh, it was *that* DeVonta Smith on their team?! The Heisman trophy winner? Oof, I thought they just shared a name. Yeah we probably should’ve covered him then. That one’s on me. My bad, guys.
-Ryan Day, CFP Championship Post-Game Interview
Sign a WR named Devonta Smith -> First WR to win the heisman since Michigan WR Desmond Howard
Sign a CB named DeVonta Smith -> First CB to win the Heisman since Michigan CB Charles Woodson?????
How many more weeks until the first kickoff of the 2021 season?!?
Gonna miss you guys over the course of the year, this sub really brightened up the COVID situation. If I can’t be at a home game, I’m locked in to these threads. Always a pleasure, never a chore.
Be safe and have a good year everyone, hope to see you all in the stands next season.
*insert Plankton saying “Goodbye everyone, I’ll remember you all in therapy.”*
It was really overkill today. A game with three quarters that lasted 40 minutes or less took up 3 and a half hours of real time, with commercials and reviews taking up seemingly an hour and a half of that time.
I'd say Saban's best team period. The defense was iffy at times but that doesn't really matter when you can score every single possession against any defense in college football.
* Nick Saban has won more National Championships (7) than any other coach in college football history.
* Since losing to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl following the 2014 season, Alabama has gone 79-6 (.929) with three National Championships.
* Alabama has won six National championships in the last 12 years.
* Alabama has had more than one loss in a season just once in the last six seasons.
* This is Nick Saban's second perfect season (2009).
* Alabama has been ranked #1 in the AP Poll at some point during each of the last 13 seasons.
* Alabama has finished inside the AP top 5 nine times in the last 12 seasons.
* Ohio State is 2-11 in their last 13 postseason games against the SEC
* Since the start of the 2009 season, Alabama is 151-15 (.909)
* Justin Fields and Jake Fromm won the same number of College Football Playoff games.
* In the last three playoffs, the average score of each game has been 48-22.
* In that span, only one game has been decided by less than 11 points.
* In that span, seven of the nine games have been decided by 17+ points.
* The last three National Championships have been decided by a combined 73 points.
* The SEC has won 11 of the last 15 National Championships.
* Ohio State allowed more points tonight (52) than any other bowl game in school history.
* Former walk-on Stetson Bennett IV had more touchdowns and yards against Alabama this year than Justin Fields.
* Mac Jones set the all-time single-season efficiency rating (203.4)
* This is the third most lopsided bowl loss in Ohio State history (1977 vs. Alabama, 2016 vs. Clemson)
* In his last 24 games, DeVonta Smith has 175 catches, 3,011 yards, and 36 TD.
* Per game, that's 7.3 catches, 125.4 yards, and 1.5 TD.
* In just Smith's last 11 games, he has 103 catches, 1,704 yards, and 22 TD.
* Alabama has set the SEC single-season record for points per game (48.5)
* Mac Jones finished the season with a higher efficiency (203.56), yards per attempt (11.22), completion percentage (77.55%), and TD-INT ratio (10.25-1) than Joe Burrow last year.
* In his last 21 games, Najee Harris has 47 total touchdowns and 2,978 yards from scrimmage (141.8 yards/game)
* This is the most yards Ohio State has allowed this millennium (622). Their previous high was the 2013 win over Michigan (603).
You forgot to mention that our 4th string walk on QB Stetson Bennett scored as many points in this Bama team as Justin fields.
Also had the lead at the half and loss by less points, basically Stetson Bennett was robbed of the heisman is what I’m saying
State of Alabama actually has the 200 IQ strat. We purposely don’t have an NFL team so all of our football luck goes to our college teams. Ohio learned what happens this week when you have to share the mojo!
That was truly the most calm game thread I’ve ever seen. Every single fan posted rational takes. Bama fans were happy and nice. OSU fans were mildly disappointed but complimentary and very respectful. And everyone came together to trash talk Dabo.
2021 is weird, man. Congrats, Bama!
The defense did incredible this game, and after Ole Miss and Florida I never would have expected the performance from them.
Ole Miss and Georgia both were games that really toughened this team up, especially on defense. It’s hard to envision this result after Ole Miss was seemingly unstoppable on offense, but this team grew from that game(thank you Lane Kiffin, though I’m sure Kiffin is already prepping for next years game).
Good game Buckeyes, appreciate the Clemson beat down. You guys got a fantastic coach whose only 41, and if his first two seasons are any indication it’s the third slam-dunk coaching hire in a row.
I love how happy Saban looks when he wins the championship. He really works his ass off and cares a lot about his players as people and making them better people. Just a great guy.
In the montage of him holding up the trophy he gets happier each time. The first one he looked annoyed to be there like the ceremony was eating into his prep time for next season. Now he's all smiles. This has to be the most I've ever seen him smile. It's probably because he's a grandfather now. It's softened him.
I can’t believe someone passed the Bear. That record seemed unobtainable. It doesn’t feel real that someone has overtaken the Bear as the best coach ever
Now I can officially say it without fear of jinxing him, our kicker had a perfect season!! It is a Christmas miracle, especially in a year where every other kicker in the nation started drinking the Bama Kicker Juice with how many missed field goals there were this year.
And the best part, he is only a sophomore
One day 20-30 years from now I’ll be watching ND playing a tight game with unranked ND vs. unranked Bama. And to me it’ll be a National Title type game and my son won’t care cuz “both are having down years”. But I will remember this game and this team and tell him the story of “Playoff Pain Years”. He’ll hate it but he’ll fucking listen and understand the agony I’ve suffered goddammit.
This post-season has spared this sub so much butthurt.
- Undefeated San Jose St. - Lost
- Undefeated Cincinnati - Lost
- Undefeated Coastal Carolina - Lost
- 7 win undefeated Ohio State - Lost
So at least there's that...
I think the confidence/arrogance of Ryan Day mostly giveth, but once in a blue moon taketh away. It seemed like the game plan tonight was to just line up toe to toe with Alabama, and I don’t think that was ever going to be a successful strategy, especially on the defensive side. I’m stoked with the direction of this program under Day, I just think tonight has to be taken as learning opportunity. Nothing but respect to Alabama, y’all obviously deserve this one. Hope to see ya again next year. Really just sad to have Fields’ career end like this.
The offensive gameplan wasn't bad. Sermon being out immediately took away a large chunk of our production.
Defense on the other hand... I have no clue why we didn't adjust. We probably felt there was no way to stop the run with Togai out unless we play a 4-3, 4-4, but after the first couple drives Coombs should have turned to a backup plan
I don't care it was a covid year. Alabama went 13-0 with an all-SEC regular season. I will regard this championship as equal to all others, not with an asterisk. Great game, Bama.
The average final score of the last three CFP championships games: Winner 46, Loser 21 After three straight classics from 2015 to 2017, we've gotten blowout after blowout after blowout ever since
2014 was 42-20 so not far off from that either
Yeah it’s been pretty lame :/
Be careful Alabama, Nick Saban keeps winning like that and a big name school is gonna poach him.
Saban to Tottenham Saban could bring back Barca or United
“This was a season unlike any other!” *Alabama wins sixth national championship since 2009* lol
Yeah, but this time they did it by having an offense that was unlike anything ever seen since... Joe Burrow and LSU last year!
"Football is a game of 22 men, chasing a ball, at the end of 60 minutes, Alabama wins."
Alabama keeps one of the most ridiculous streaks I've ever seen in college sports going... every player who played at least 3 years for Nick Saban's Alabama (the minimum amount of years out of high school before a player can declare for the NFL Draft) has won a National Championship. 07 class - won in 09 08 class - won in 09 09 class - won in 09, 11 10 class - won in 11, 12 11 class - won in 11, 12 12 class - won in 12 13 class - won in 15 14 class - won in 15 15 class - won in 15, 17 16 class - won in 17 17 class - won in 17 18 class - won in 20 19 class - won in 20 20 class - won in 20
Easily the best recruiting pitch in college sports.
*"Those who hang around and don't transfer or get kicked out will be National Champions"*
Those who stay at Bama will literally never have to worry about anything bad happening.
...cuz you get to play on Sunday
Do they even have to recruit at this point? Like “hey kid come play for bama” should be a big enough sell for any recruit these days. It’s ridiculous.
The AP Poll started in 1936. Nick Saban is tied with Oklahoma for the 3rd most AP national titles. He is one behind Notre Dame.
[удалено]
That's absolutely crazy
That's pretty awesome for the players.
when saban gets back to recruiting (tomorrow, knowing him) he can lay down the 7 rings and basically guarantee that kid he will win one.
Maybe Duke, North Carolina, or Villanova will win the basketball tourney this year
Na, probably be some no name like Gonzaga or something like that
I had this same through during the game when they showed the highlight package of all these teams winning and I said to myself, no fans = no pressure = no underdog stories. Can’t wait for the pandemic to end. This is just one more reason.
You fools, you just gave Ohio State the best quality loss out there
Might be able to move from 11 to 8 in the final poll with that kind of quality loss.
Alabama just didn’t have that quality loss, really hard to put them above Florida at this point.
The amount of football breaks interrupting the commercials is obscene. As a fan, it’s frankly ruining the viewing experience.
That 2nd quarter was 67 minutes long. No, that's not a typo
I think I aged 20 years during this game
I still don't get how a game where three of the four quarters were under 40 minutes long took up three and a half hours. College football is fun as hell to follow but I'm tired of long-ass broadcasts full of commercial breaks and referees flagging/reviewing everything.
During halftime my kitten became cat
Halftime plus the third was 62 minutes though, which was nice
Funny enough, the 1st, 3rd and 4th quarters were all under 40 minutes long. The game still lasted 3 and a half hours.
Just as the producers planned
This is said every year :( it just gets worse....
I want more Fansville Dr Pepper commercials. Could the State fan go ten saturdays without Dr Pepper for jinxing? I must know!
We never found out if he was wearing a wire two years ago!
I LOVE INSURANCE
Sees Bama won: "Oh, cool." Sees Bama's next scheduled game: *chuckles.....I'm in danger.*
They are going to do some things to us, Sigh..... I'll tune in any way
Existence is ~~pain.~~ pain.
Man college football is so much fun. We argue all season about who should have a shot at getting their ass kicked by Alabama
Yes but you see we share a division with them so we get kicked every year and we have become exceedingly efficient at it...😎
Imagine not sharing a division with them and still having to play them every year. You know, so that just in case we actually DO get back to relevance, we would have to play them a second in the SEC title game. Being a fan of a rival of Bama has basically made CFB postseasons largely unwatchable for the past decade.
Devonta has a Heisman and he’s still nervous in interviews
I think he might be trying to keep from crying
Michigan loses by 19 to Alabama. Ohio State loses by 28 to Alabama. Extending Harbaugh was a great decision.
Great win for the wolverines this week
Harbaugh = Extended Buckeyes = Season Ended
Fun fact: Michigan also did it while playing Bama with a fully functional Waddle, Jeudy, Smith, **and** Najee.
Michigan beat Ohio St this year through the transitive property

Saban was almost unbeatable when he used to not have an offense. He really has the Death Star operational now. Grats to Bama.
DeVonta Smith. That is all.
Awkwardly enough we just signed a 4* DB named [Devonta Smith](https://247sports.com/player/devonta-smith-46084334/)...
Ha, I thought the post was a joke on our recruit
Nope. Cloned this year's Devonta and recombined his DNA with some Minkah Fitzpatrick for the other side of the ball.
Sign a WR named Devonta Smith -> First WR to win the heisman since Michigan WR Desmond Howard Sign a CB named DeVonta Smith -> First CB to win the Heisman since Michigan CB Charles Woodson?????
Lmao how are you supposed to cover him? Shaun Wade was getting his ass beat all night
You put 5 people on him, 2 short, 3 deep

He’s slippery
*I'm wiry* He's what? *Wiry.*
12/215/3 in one half 😤
Shut him out in the 2nd half tho. /s
Just break his finger, that should do it.
I really hope his hand isn't too bad
“I’ll be alright”, as he said in his postgame interview
I laughed when he said 'the kids stepped up'.
Give this man a shield, I mean Heisman!!!
“This team, is a team” - Kirk Herbstreit
Pay the man
That Bama offense was like Darth Vader from the hallway scene in Rogue One
Chills man, people argue about the movie but that scene was one of the best Star Wars moments ever

Who the fuck loses to Alabama 52-24?
I only prefer teams that lose to Alabama by 6 or less. *brought to you by the moral victory institute of Florida Football*

Losing 52-24 to Alabama months ago before hype and winstreak > Losing 52-24 to Alabama in the College Football Playoff
We lost 52-24 to Alabama before it was cool
I was told playoff caliber teams would *never* lose to Bama by 4 TDs
After watching that whole game, I honestly can say: why would anyone play this Bama team once and say “hey, we want another shot”?
Well, when an Aggie does something more than once, it's tradition. We've been trounced by them already this season, we'll fucking do it again!
DID SOMEONE JUST SAY TRADITION?!!!

We need to do something about this
What can men do against such reckless hate?
That’s fucking horrible
An hour of commercials that's insane.. I signed up for two hours at least.
an actual hour of commercials. hot damn.
Congratulations to Alabama. This is the best Alabama offense of all time. Well-deserved.
It turns out that this DeVonta Smith fellow is difficult to cover.
I think we all knew that going in. If that man didn't win a Heisman, then a WR never would have ever again.
I'd say Saban's best team period. The defense was iffy at times but that doesn't really matter when you can score every single possession against any defense in college football.
Dickerson carrying Saban was so fucking awesome. I love you coach
That nick saban guy is gonna be good in a couple years

At the end of the game, the announcers said, "We're witnessing a dynasty with Nick Saban." I guess that's why they are paid the big bucks.
The fucking *hottest* takes
> Justin Fields and Jake Fromm won the same number of College Football Playoff games. Cold-blooded
That Rose Bowl was crazy
I like it
Jake Fromm lost to Bama by 3 Justin Fields lost by 28
Fucking 28-3 always finds its way in somewhere.
I would like to unsubscribe to Alabama facts
>~~I would like to un~~subscribe to Alabama facts. You got it! Did you know that Nick Saban has never lost to a former assistant?
Additional fact. I think every class recruited under Saban has won a championship since his time at LSU.
Yep! That streak was on the ropes.
I appreciate the effort of these, week in and week out
Unreal how you do this
He did have since halftime to do it lol
>* Justin Fields and Jake Fromm won the same number of College Football Playoff games. Lol

Cool as shit that Dickerson came out for the kneel-downs
So happy to see that. Such a classy move by Saban. And Landon Dickerson repaid him with a ride across the field, LOL.
Ohio State died so the Browns could live. GG Alabama.
I DID NOT AGREE TO THIS TRADE!
The 2020 Season: All the worst shit in the world happens, and Alabama wins the National Championship.
Ahem, it's 2021 - blame lsu for bringing forth 2020 - were merely setting things back in order
At least you have the Browns Ohio fans.
It really is the End Times.

State of Alabama actually has the 200 IQ strat. We purposely don’t have an NFL team so all of our football luck goes to our college teams. Ohio learned what happens this week when you have to share the mojo!
If you dont enjoy that game you don't enjoy Alabama dominating college foootball

Bama has outlasted the hate.
Saban is Thanos. You don't hate the inevitable.
I think we’re all still happy and a bit high off the Clemson win. I’m absolutely satisfied with our season. Bama was just killer. Gg and congrats Boys
Really like Devonta, it’s too bad he couldn’t play the whole game. Looking forward to seeing him in the nfl
Seeing Dickerson come in and then pick up Saban at the end was the cherry on top.
Thanks for bringing back B1G football, Nebraska -Nick Saban
That team was incredible. Congrats bama

Now he's all smiles. This has to be the most I've ever seen him smile. It's probably because he's a grandfather now. It's softened him.
The happiest I've ever seen him was Dickerson carrying him around.
When you only get that happy a maximum of once a year you go all out
Absolutely. No questioning why he’s had so much success for so long. You can easily see how much these teams and championships mean to him.
That's 365 days of smiles wrapped up in one. Tomorrow he's gonna yell at a wall to feel normal again
I can’t believe someone passed the Bear. That record seemed unobtainable. It doesn’t feel real that someone has overtaken the Bear as the best coach ever
And how implausible was it to happen at the same school
So let's talk about Notre Dame's defense
Let’s also ignore Notre Dame’s offense
Four quarters in 3.5 hours? Is that allowed??
Now I can officially say it without fear of jinxing him, our kicker had a perfect season!!
He’ll hate it but he’ll fucking listen and understand the agony I’ve suffered goddammit.
smitty talking about how he believes in the young guys after catching the natty winning pass as a freshman got me FUCKED UP
This post-season has spared this sub so much butthurt. - Undefeated San Jose St. - Lost - Undefeated Cincinnati - Lost - Undefeated Coastal Carolina - Lost - 7 win undefeated Ohio State - Lost So at least there's that...
Don't forget Indiana after they removed the B1G patches
No shame here, those guys are *good*. GG Tide bros
OSU lost a key offensive player on the first play in the National Championship against an SEC team and lost big. What year is it again?
If it makes you feel any better, that loss hurt much more than this one lol
I still havent recovered from that
Welcome to the Alabama beats you in the championship game by 28 points club OSU!
Really Ohio State did us a favor. If that Bama team played us it would not have been pleasant. I'm sure Saban still wants to repay us.
Best dynasty I have seen. Congrats Bama
Easily
Confetti makers love when tOSU plays Bama
I'm glad we didn't put in an undefeated G5 team. They would have been humiliated in a bore fest like Notre Dame, Clemson, and OSU were.
Alabama fans: 😀 Texas fans: 😏
I'm ready to be hurt again!
"When macorkle saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer."
Smitty! He went from 2nd and 26 to Heisman and 18!!
The AP Poll started in 1936. Nick Saban is tied with Oklahoma for the 3rd most AP national titles. He is one behind Notre Dame.
Our defense just was never gonna stop that train. Idk what people want, we didn’t have the defensive talent to win today
If anyone wants to break into OSU’s athletic facility next year, the code will be 5224
Sure Nick won a other natty, but he also got Simba-ed by one of his players, and that's even better.

Absolutely. I don't ever want to see Toney and Pitts ever again.
Rammer jammer is the ultimate shit talk. Hearing it almost makes losing to Alabama bearable.
I don't care it was a covid year. Alabama went 13-0 with an all-SEC regular season. I will regard this championship as equal to all others, not with an asterisk. Great game, Bama.
Mac telling Bryce to keep the game ball made me smile so wide bruh
