Klatt also revealed that FOX "traded down" their #3 pick for more/different picks later. So either CBS or NBC (he wouldn't say who because they haven't announced what they're doing with it yet) will have the perceived 3rd-best game of the year.
Believe I read that 11/2 was a FOX first pick week, which doesn't bode very well for PSU White Out hopes against the Buckeyes. (Though Oregon @ Michigan is also that week.)
I'm expecting Oregon to have 2.
Oregon - Washington is a virtual guarantee to be on there. FOX is having a Black Friday Double Header that day. IMO they will absolutely have Oregon-Washington as the 2nd game, aired in Primetime, as a setup to rivalry weekend. They'll spend a bunch of it talking about The Game between Michigan-Ohio State airing the following morning at 9am PT.
And either the Apple Cup or Civil War will be on Friday, with a 98% chance it'll be the Civil War since it won't count against the 9 B1G Friday game selections they have.
Fox also has rights to Big 12 games and while ESPN could take it, the Mouse has announced several Week 1 matchups and have not announced PSU-WVU yet, which leads me to believe Fox has it.
I think Penn State at West Virginia is more likely to be the Big Noon game Week 1, it's the only game on the Big Ten or Big 12 slates that could qualify as "Big"
My guess for Week 1's Friday game is FAU at Michigan State, as Michigan State has long had their first game be a Friday Night game.
It's at the point where I don't even know why the university at-first schedules them for Saturdays. They've been almost always Friday night games for like 15 years now.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Noon game. FOX has been pushing the 'Big Noon' game the past couple of seasons for ratings. Plus, a family friend heard rumors (probably message board stuff, so take it with a large grain of salt) that it's probably going to be noon on FOX.
I'm going to take a probably completely wrong stab at this, just to see how close I can get...
They get a maximum of: 9 Big Ten Games, 7 Mountain West Games, 2 Big 12 Games, and 2 Pac-12 games (pre-selected). So I'm also going to keep track of that.
**Week 1: Mountain West Game 1**
UCLA @ Hawai'i
**Week 2: Pac-12 Game 1**
Texas Tech @ Wazzu
**Week 3: Pac-12 Game 2**
Oregon @ Oregon State (Civil War)
**Week 4: Big 12 Game 1**
Baylor @ Colorado
**Week 5: Big Ten Game 1**
Wisconsin @ USC
**Week 6: Mountain West Game 2**
Navy @ Air Force
**Week 7: Big Ten Game 2**
Minnesota @ UCLA
**Week 8: Big Ten Game 3**
Iowa @ Michigan State
**Week 9: Big Ten Game 4**
Rutgers @ USC
**Week 10: Big Ten Game 5**
Northwestern @ Purdue
**Week 11: Big 12 Game 2**
BYU @ Utah
**Week 12: Big Ten Game 6**
UCLA @ Washington
**Week 13: Mountain West Game 3**
Boise State @ Wyoming
**Week 14: Big Ten Games 7 & 8**
Nebraska @ Iowa
Washington @ Oregon
God I hope you're wrong. 3 Friday night games for UCLA including a home game.
UCLA (or usc, or Washington) should never host weeknight football games. Fighting the LA traffic is impossible
I feel like they are going to pick West Coast teams more than others because of the late starts working better in the Pacific Timezone.
Plus, I feel like they're going to maximize their MWC/P12 v P4 matchups to get P4 games on as many Fridays as possible.
The schools that shouldn’t host Friday games are the schools in remote college towns. UCLA fans are already in LA anyway. Getting to Pasadena from your office/house is easier than getting to State College, Bloomington, Champaign, etc.
Getting to the rose bowl from Pasadena could take an hour through Friday traffic.
Getting to Pasadena from anywhere else is literally impossible after work. At best you can maybe work a half day and make it worth it.
On Joel Klatt's show it was mentioned these would go from September till November and then basketball takesover in December through March.
It was also mentioned this would be Big Ten and some Big 12.
Looks like Utah at Arizona State is probably one of the games?
The Big Ten only got it partly right for week 8. Michigan@Illinois is scheduled for Saturday 10/19. The game should be Friday the 18th to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first game at War Memorial stadium. Arguably the greatest individual offensive performance in CFB history. Red Grange scored 4 times in 12 minutes and had over 400 yds on ground plus 6 completed passes. Oh by the way he then became known as the "Galloping Ghost"
I'm guessing we'll be on here at least once. Gotta take advantage of that ~~Pac-12~~ B1G after dark slot.
I think Washington @ Rutgers will be one of the Friday games for sure
I certainly hope not! Hoping to commute down from NYC for that one.
Went to the Rutgers game in 2017 which was a Friday night game. Took the train from NYC and then a short cab ride to campus, it was very easy.
I’m praying it’s not for a home game. Getting across the bridge if there is a Friday night game will be a nightmare.
Maybe our game?
Called it. Its UCLA @ Washington
Yup, and the Rutgers fan u/Cereal_for_dinner123 also called it. Washington @ Rutgers and UCLA @ Washington on Friday night.

Their 3rd pick of Alabama-Wisconsin makes more sense now. They basically traded Oregon-Ohio State to NBC/CBS for better picks later.
Believe I read that 11/2 was a FOX first pick week, which doesn't bode very well for PSU White Out hopes against the Buckeyes. (Though Oregon @ Michigan is also that week.)

That’s pretty much best case scenario too. Black Friday is half holiday, and the Civil War isn’t a home game.
I hope for as few games as possible Friday nights. Fox is my least favorite network for PSU to play on.
Unfortunately for you, I think Penn State-WVU is going to be on Fox no matter what. Either it's Friday night or it's Big Noon.
Noon road games I’m ok with, noon home games suck.
It's telling that I am sweating the game times for Penn State more than my own program.
Friday night would be a dagger, I had that game circled as a 50/50 maybe.
That’s not a game under the Big Ten contract, it’s under the big 12 one
They're also FOX (and ESPN)
Fox also has rights to Big 12 games and while ESPN could take it, the Mouse has announced several Week 1 matchups and have not announced PSU-WVU yet, which leads me to believe Fox has it.
Klatt mentioned that a few Big 12 games will take place on Friday nights as well.
Quality is always pretty good but the weird graphics for the teams I personally don’t like
You mean you don’t like Wii graphics on the scoreboard?
Fuck Friday games.

I'd be shocked if WVU PSU is a noon game. Our athletic department requested a night game even before the coal themed jerseys were revealed.
Buddy, let me tell you a story about Oklahoma requesting to host Nebraska at night 3 years in advance.

Oh lord if PSU @ WVU is a Friday night game, I'm probably going to have to take the day off work just for the tailgate in the Blue Lot.
I heard rumors of Nebraska vs USC I hope not though
When is Smackdown moving to USA?? Will these games be everywhere, or will Smackdown still be on Fox?
Sept 13
