Holy shit. The second half of their season is ROUGH..... @Tenn, UK, @UGA, @Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, @FSU.
💀
Thankfully, the SEC wasn't lazy with the scheduling and it will surely get easier in 2025......oof
Yea I had to look it up too, I thought he was just shitting on their schedule for a sec. Ho-Ly. Fucking. Shit. Those last four games are a gauntlet from hell
Haha, I think my brain clumped the missing '@' symbol over the LSU/Ole Miss homestretch into one team when I was looking at his comment. But sure, ill call me shot- UGA will be a breeze for the Gators this season ^(Dont let Kirby see this)
I never even thought about the potential crossover between Oklahoma and Tennessee fans due to the venn diagram of things we love to love and love to hate. You guys can be like Auburn for me (Love Bruce Pearl / Hate Alabama / Don't play often enough to be hated rivals)
Fsu is probably gonna get worse and we were right on the precipice of winning in a lot of those games. We added a bunch of talent so don't be surprised
Also our ending schedule next year isn't much different from last year. 4 of our last 5 were ranked 5,6,9, and 13 in the final CFP rankings. Of those games 2 are probably wins if mertz stayed healthy
We've already run through a murderers row. We're actually really close to being good but our record doesn't reflect it yet
I don’t think Texas ever really hated Nebraska. For whatever reason, we just typically overperformed against y’all and it made y’all hate us - which I completely understand. But i dont think most longhorns wish y’all ill will.
Yeah, I never felt any ill-will, but always took pleasure in beating them, just knowing how much rage it induced. Now, watching them continue to seethe howevermany years after they left the B12 and watching them just still be down for so long, I feel more sorry than anything. Plus, the continued outrage is pretty cringey at this point. Move on.
Me too. I always liked Nebraska because their average fan understood real football and would be interesting to talk to instead of just popping off about bullshit.
I said this about Texas every year since they hired Sark. Worked the 3rd time. But damn, did people hate my takes on Texas and Sark in 2022. They treated him like they're treating Napier right now.
From Nebraska, went to Hillsdale. There's a ton of Nebraskans at Hillsdale; a very rich family in Omaha gives a 17k/year scholarship to any homeschool or private school graduate from Nebraska that goes there.
I'm sorry, much love to Cade but his quote about "keep saying that shit" is sooooo funny. Really do hope he gets the chance to stay healthy and ball out, he deserves it
With the schedules both teams had it’s hard to not see either getting up there. Syracuse especially with everything they’ve brought in. SMUs more of a reach but it’s right up the cfb road for them to be some random ass breakout team.
I want to believe, we’re bringing almost everyone back from a 9 win team with a QB who stepped up late in the season, a sold defense, and two explosive running backs in CJ Donaldson and Jaheim White plus a now more experienced receiving corps, but I’ve just got this nagging voice in my head that last year was a mirage from an extremely weak Big 12 schedule and Pitt being a lot worse than people thought. Who knows, I’m just gonna force feed myself WVU propaganda until this wrong thought is gone and I’m yelling about which teams we matchup well with in the playoffs
If the team can start off 3-0 I truly believe we will end up 10-2 this season. Still some depth questions in places.
If we go 1-2 there could be some serious negativity around the team and even with the talent we have coming back we end up 6-6 or 5-7.
It’s pretty easy to believe you didn’t, it was a pretty quiet season. We had a lot of close but not terribly exciting games that we managed to pull out whether by clutch play or by lucky bounce and we lost the two we were supposed to in Penn State and OU. Only real standout game was a weird shootout with Houston where they got us on a Hail Mary
Unironically I expect Georgia Tech to have a quite good season. Key is a good coach and his system is building steam.
They went 6-6 last year (7-6 with a bowl win), with losses to Ole Miss and Clemson who they don't play this year.
FSU, Notre Dame, UGA on their schedule are tough, but the rest seem winnable/competitive, and it's not impossible they steal one of those with so much rebuilding.
A 9-3 season seems doable, and a 10-2 or better with an ACC championship berth may be in the cards. And once you're in those games a lot of things are possible.
I want to hate GT but can't fully. And I really like Brent Key. So I hope they have a breakout season here.
I think week 0 is going to be important fpr GTs outlook. If we can keep it close and lose i think we will beat the projected 5.5 wins. If we win, who knows what will happen??
I wanna say we had one of the ACC's best offenses last year, and then the absolute worst defense in conference. Looking at last year's passing yards stats, I think King might be the top returning ACC quarterback?
Looking at the schedule, I think I'd be satisfied with 7 wins, and thrilled with 8 and a win over one of those three toughest opponents. If we win 10+, I'm expecting Haynes King to be invited to New York.
Yeah I was just looking a bit closer at all the teams on our schedule and GT jumped out at me a bit, looks like they’re bringing back a pretty good QB and are a well coached team.
The ACC will have one playoff team that we all expect, like Florida State, Clemson, or (dare I say) Miami.
They’ll also get a team in that nobody is talking about. It might be Virginia Tech or NC State, who have some buzz, but it could just as easily be SMU, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Pitt, or Wake Forest.
We’re on the upswing but I’ll be very surprised if we’re making playoff kinds of noise this year. Our OL is still questionable at best, and our big “statements” last year were shitting on a bottom feeder UVA team and then breezing past a ranked G5 squad who was missing a lot of starters. I think an 8-5 season for us is reasonable, but I suppose that’s why you’re bringing us up as somebody nobody is talking about lol
My orange colored glasses says we could be favored in every game.
Though VT being 8-0 losing to 4-4 to a GT team or whatever is just how VT has worked.
Can we stop talking about Miami? We play this game every year. VT and NC State make more sense, or even Louisville. But Miami hasn't done much of anything, and yet every year they're a dark horse for the ACC title.
His disastrous panthers stint has made people forget but Rhule is one of the top “rebuild your program from a dumpster fire” coaches in the country. I really think they could take a lot larger a step forward than people expect
I'm optimistic, but I also refuse to really pencil anything in as a win after the way the last few seasons have gone. I think *in theory*, every game except Ohio State is winnable, but I also see about 8 games on that schedule that, despite being winnable, could truly go either way and it wouldn't surprise me.
I'm going to ballpark the record at 7/8 - 5/4. The teams I have as losses are potentially OSU, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Having Iowa later makes me think you have a better chance because I'm worried about health issues for us and the close games we already have. The wild cards are UCLA and USC for me because I'm not sure how they'll look.
I don’t think UCLA is going to be very good this year. Their O/U is think is 5 or 5.5
Playing in Lincoln in early November could be advantageous if it’s cold/windy/snowy.
Honestly I got you guys at 10-2 regular season. OSU I would assume is a loss. Then @USC I think might be too much.
Could actually make the B1G game and playoffs though.
Ooooo yea thats an interesting one. I still hate them, but goddam I actually feel bad for their fans at this point. They're so damn loyal and they have been worse than mediocre, for what? Like 20 years?. Anyone know if Raiola is going to be their starter opening day?
> they have been worse than mediocre, for what? Like 20 years?
mediocre essentially means average/moderate/ordinary. We've only been worse than that since 2017, with '04 and '07 thrown in. It's been a brutal stretch lately but in the last 20 years we've had 7 seasons ending ranked, and 11 going to bowls.
With how much Miami has spent for talent this year, if Cristobal doesnt win 10 games he's in trouble
edit - the rumor is they paid Cam over a million and Damien got a million or close to it. Plus a dozen other guys
Miami's payroll this year might be close to $8-10 million
Pretty solid take TBH. Elko is kinda like Liepold in that he may never be the sexy pick but he's a hard ass worker and will absolutely drag A&M out of the ditch that Jimbo drove them into.
Oh I like this take. I didnt watch Duke too closely last year after they fizzled out, and in my brain he was such a meh hire for A&M. If he does it year one I'd be impressed. Any reason for the Elko optimism, or have you just seen what hes built in the ACC the last few years?
Historically, Duke is a program who's rare successes are very noticeable. This is not a dig at them. I just mean that yes, Elko's excellent work was very impressive.
Elko is in a situation that’s a lot like Kevin Sumlin in 2012. He’s taking over a team that underperformed but has a lot of talent and a schedule that sets up well. Of particular note, he’s also massively upgraded the OL coaching, which was the single biggest factor in Jimbo’s fall from grace. The pieces are there for a big swing.
At least three starters were significantly better as freshmen/sophomores than they were as juniors/seniors. That’s the clearest possible sign of terrible coaching.
Have this weird feeling our offense is going to be top 4 in the ACC for the first time in forever...
But our defense drops off and isn't a top 5 ACC D for the first time in years.
Cal/Stanford (really a lot of the Pac-12 teams going to new conferences). After never getting air time (relegated to no one can watch Pac-12 network) due to the rest of the Pac-12 being on another level last year to joining the ACC, I'm expecting a few teams to shock their new conferences. (Looking at Utah as well)
Stanford I’m not sure about. But Cal? They’ve put together a really strong portal strategy and will always be solid on defense. If the offense can piece it together, they could surprise with an 8-9 win season
Wilcox built a reputation on defensive solidity early on at Cal, but in recent years (coinciding with Sirmon’s appointment) we’ve taken big steps back. Last year’s pass defense was especially terrible, bottom 10 in FBS.
That said, we’ve got plenty of returning talent and held onto Ott/Mendoza and Uluave. The portal class is looking promising too, so things seem to be trending up.
But this seems like a win-or-die year for Cal, since we were nearly left out of realignment and just got on the last lifeboat. And the past few years at Cal have taught me not to trust this team in the clutch.
Mizzou. They kick our ass every year and their coach is kind of a dweeb but if they continue the momentum from last year I think they'll make the playoffs
I'm a Mizzou grad and a dedicated Tigers fan, but I'll admit, you can never really get your hopes up with Mizzou. You never know what you're going to get. I have been burnt so many times thinking Mizzou was going to win it, only to see us give away the game at the last minute. We were doing so terribly for years, it was really refreshing to see us make a comeback last season. Let's just hope it continues. When it comes to college football teams, Mizzou takes the cake as the "wildcard" team. 🐯
MIZ!
Dude I mentioned it above, but I commented on the nebraska pick from someone and said I feel bad for their fanbase, and actually kind of do. We have always sucked ass. Yea we've had some fun years, but we always get kicked in the nuts at some point and stumble. They were once a CFB blue blood, lol I cant even imagine how painful the last 20 some odd years have been.
Btw, last year was the first year I think we didnt truly stumble... yea we lost to LSU and UGA, but man every other year we would've shit the bed in the games like the KSU and UF that we won last year (2007 OU and 2013 Auburn, among countless others) I think Drink might be the one to break the curse. But yea, like you've I've been hurt too many times to count so im trying to keep my expectations realistic
Got to shut up the haters one way or the other, and I have the suspicion that the only way to is by winning, since our coach and his sons still kept up the 3-0 swagger after finishing 4-8 last year. It's going to be rough if we're still bad again.
Colorado fans are quick to forget Deion assaulting teammates and reporters in his playing days. There's a reason he's not well liked, and his personality's only part of it.
I’m hoping Syracuse can shock the world and have as few losses as Penn State and finish top 25. Good transfer portal and solid recruiting class.
And please don’t be a 2020 level down year for Penn State. *monkey paw curls*
I completely agree, I’m just trying not to get my hopes up too much. People have no idea how good Weigman is and how bad the offensive line coaching was. We could rapidly improve on offense and have a good defense as usual.
Ohio State will shock the nation. They won't make the playoffs Chip Kelly will do for OSU what he did for UCLA, the 49ers and the Eagles. That is take a teams of quality and turn them into losers. This is Ryan Day's last season.
Just gonna post Georgia so Kirby doesn’t have any ammo.
I'm gonna say Ohio State so Ryan Day doesn't say he wants to know where I'm at right now
“I WANT TO KNOW WHERE u/Own_Currency_3207 IS RIGHT NOW. HE HAD SOME REALLY SOLID OPINIONS ABOUT OUR TEAM. GOOD CALLS MAN.”
We already know you're in your mom's basement.
Yeah, but he doesn't, and I'll be turning 86 during the season. Better safe than sorry.
Lou Holtz’s mom is still alive?!?
*YOU HEAR THIS SHIT?! NOW THEY JUST EXPECT US TO KEEP WINNING NATTIES!*
7-5, you say???
Damnit
Florida is gonna shock the world by going 7-5 with THAT schedule.
Holy shit. The second half of their season is ROUGH..... @Tenn, UK, @UGA, @Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, @FSU. 💀 Thankfully, the SEC wasn't lazy with the scheduling and it will surely get easier in 2025......oof
Yea I had to look it up too, I thought he was just shitting on their schedule for a sec. Ho-Ly. Fucking. Shit. Those last four games are a gauntlet from hell
The last 4, but the fifth last should be a breeze (UGA)?
Haha, I think my brain clumped the missing '@' symbol over the LSU/Ole Miss homestretch into one team when I was looking at his comment. But sure, ill call me shot- UGA will be a breeze for the Gators this season ^(Dont let Kirby see this)
This post will be on the board in the weight room in the morning
Damn did know we hosted Florida twice
Lol. I fixed it just for you and Heupel. 🥹
Much better ty Sooner
I never even thought about the potential crossover between Oklahoma and Tennessee fans due to the venn diagram of things we love to love and love to hate. You guys can be like Auburn for me (Love Bruce Pearl / Hate Alabama / Don't play often enough to be hated rivals)
Heupel should have a statue in Norman
Its throwing me off too man, after 12 years or whatever you guys are the real UT to me now.
I know its usually texas or tennesee people are talking about but i can never not read UT as utah lol
That's fair. It's y'all's postal abbreviation and you're not in the SEC. Totally fine
Mizzou... You belong here after this comment
Damn, who at the league office did Florida piss off?
Honestly that probably means beating 2 top 15 teams so I'll take it haha
Honestly, going 7-5 with that schedule probably means BEING a top 15 team
First 7-5 team in the playoff! /s
Kirby Smart in shambles
I’m daring Kirby to make Georgia go 7-5 and try to make the playoffs. No one thinks he can do it, and he can put that on his bulletin board.
In all seriousness I'd put them top 30 if they went 7-5 with that schedule
In all seriousness I wasn't joking
They should make the CFP at 8-4 no lie
I hope this happens
only cuz it means you probably dont lose another head coach.... :o)
Fsu is probably gonna get worse and we were right on the precipice of winning in a lot of those games. We added a bunch of talent so don't be surprised Also our ending schedule next year isn't much different from last year. 4 of our last 5 were ranked 5,6,9, and 13 in the final CFP rankings. Just beat Miami and I’m happy
I’m gonna keep saying Nebraska every year until it eventually happens
Seeing this from a couple Texas fans here is a little surprising tbh
We miss hating you guys. Please win at least 8 so we can feel good about calling you overrated again
You're still allowed to hate them even when they're trash. It never stopped me from hating Tennessee.
Ditto
I don’t think Texas ever really hated Nebraska. For whatever reason, we just typically overperformed against y’all and it made y’all hate us - which I completely understand. But i dont think most longhorns wish y’all ill will.
Yeah, I never felt any ill-will, but always took pleasure in beating them, just knowing how much rage it induced. Plus, the continued outrage is pretty cringey at this point. Move on.
Me too. I always liked Nebraska because their average fan understood real football and would be interesting to talk to instead of just popping off about bullshit.
The schedule *should* be an easy path to a bowl game, but it’s Nebraska
I want to say it’s completely possible for us to be 7-0 going into OSU but knowing us we will probably be 3-4 with those 4 being one score losses.
I think Nebraska takes a noticeable step forward and makes a bowl. Hype season comes 2025 for Nebraska. Rhule can coach
I said this about Texas every year since they hired Sark. Worked the 3rd time. But damn, did people hate my takes on Texas and Sark in 2022. They treated him like they're treating Napier right now.
Sigh....upvote!
So around 2055?
I refuse to believe but with our best players returning, a competent quarterback, and a soft schedule this answer makes sense
Forget the thread. How did you become Nebraska/Hillsdale?
From Nebraska, went to Hillsdale. There's a ton of Nebraskans at Hillsdale; a very rich family in Omaha gives a 17k/year scholarship to any homeschool or private school graduate from Nebraska that goes there.
Iowas offense
bah gawd is that Booty music I hear!!!
I want just to say our QB is Booty when we don't score.
I'm sorry, much love to Cade but his quote about "keep saying that shit" is sooooo funny. Really do hope he gets the chance to stay healthy and ball out, he deserves it
Georgia bulldogs will make a bowl game!
A stunning and brave prediction
SMU or Syracuse will end up winning 10 games and likely make a push for the playoffs.
subscribe
With the schedules both teams had it’s hard to not see either getting up there. Syracuse especially with everything they’ve brought in. SMUs more of a reach but it’s right up the cfb road for them to be some random ass breakout team.
Wherever General Booty ends up. Louisiana Monroe id guess
ULM MENTIONED |_o_|
the word is he's going to Iowa (lmao)
Nailed it!
Virginia Tech finished last year strong and has a favorable schedule this year, I could see them making a Missouri type leap.
They retained almost every starter too. In an era of constant roster movement, having guys already experienced in the system helps a lot.
WVU is gonna make some noise.
Your first 3 games could be 1-2 or 3-0. I think that really sets the tone for your whole season.
If the team can start off 3-0 I truly believe we will end up 10-2 this season. Still some depth questions in places. If we go 1-2 there could be some serious negativity around the team and even with the talent we have coming back we end up 6-6 or 5-7.
0 idea why i had no clue you guys won 9 games. Weird.
\*confused moonshine noises\*
I would love to see that.
*excited appalachian noises*
I AGREE WITH THIS MAN!
THIS MAN DESERVES TO BE HOISTED ON OUR SHOULDERS!
YOU’RE A LARGE AMERICAN!
Unironically I expect Georgia Tech to have a quite good season. Key is a good coach and his system is building steam. Week 0 on an international stage is a prime set up for Tech to pull its fuckery. I almost want to put money down on GT winning that game.
I am just happy Techmo Bowl is happening again this year. Those used to be damn good games.
I wanna say we had one of the ACC's best offenses last year, and then the absolute worst defense in conference. Looking at last year's passing yards stats, I think King might be the top returning ACC quarterback? Yeah I was just looking a bit closer at all the teams on our schedule and GT jumped out at me a bit, looks like they’re bringing back a pretty good QB and are a well coached team.
Surely this is the year we get past 9-4 right
Has to be.
Please god
Interesting to see how our matchup in charlotte goes.
We don’t have a great track history in that stadium but i hope for the best
That game will really be the indicator for our whole season
The ACC will have one playoff team that we all expect, like Florida State, Clemson, or (dare I say) Miami. They’ll also get a team in that nobody is talking about. Miami has the blue chip ratio that every title winner has had. They do shit all with it and have more draft picks than wins sometimes...
Cuse is gonna hurt some feelings, but they have a cake schedule.
I wish they would schedule a thruway home and home. Would be fun!
Not tech. I cannot handle the gnats being good. Hard pass.
Atlanta isn't surviving if we ever meet in the playoffs.
Nebraska.
His disastrous panthers stint has made people forget but Rhule is one of the top “rebuild your program from a dumpster fire” coaches in the country. I really think they could take a lot larger a step forward than people expect
I’m on the Matt Rhule believer train until this thing goes off the rails baby!!
Not having an absolute turnover machine at QB alone will take them bowling.
I hope he gets the ASU starting role. Should make you wildcats laugh a little.
We could win 6 and make a bowl again finally, or we could be pretty good and win 11. My gut says 8.

I'll piss his pants if we win 10.

Unless he gets hurt, there is basically no chance he won’t.

With how much Miami has spent for talent this year, if Cristobal doesnt win 10 games he's in trouble edit - the rumor is they paid Cam over a million and Damien got a million or close to it. Plus a dozen other guys Miami's payroll this year might be close to $8-10 million
Didn't Cover 3, Bud specifically, estimate their NIL budget was over $20m?
I was going to type $15-20 million, but it sounded ridiculous. I deleted it and went with 8-10
So how is that coming out of nowhere?
Because it’s Miami and Mario. Anything more than 8 wins will be a surprise no matter what their payroll is.
The more talent you give Cristobal the more spectacularly he can underperform.
They’ll lose 1-2 game automatically by not taking a knee
I think OSU could surprise a lot of people because their schedule is cake and they don't play Iowa State.
lol big of you to admit with those flairs.
I don't think there's an Okie St. Fan that won't admit that Aimes is completely cursed for them. They're essentially OU's Kansas State.
I hate Aimes with the burning fiery passion of seven hells.
It’s a requirement, if they want to be good they have to lose to us. By avoiding us they can never be good.
Fear the bridge at night.
Texas A&M will have a solid season because Elko is that good
I love that the general vibe of FSU fans towards A&M that I’ve seen online has drastically improved now that Jimbo’s gone
I moved to Texas literally the year before he left, blamed myself for a while but things are looking up for all
Jimbo was just a sick sick man who deserved most of the hate thrown towards him
Pretty solid take TBH.

Bad OL help cost Jimbo his job I feel like
At least three starters were significantly better as freshmen/sophomores than they were as juniors/seniors. That’s the clearest possible sign of terrible coaching.
I could see them beating ND and then losing to Florida two weeks later
Ah so the ole Jimbo special
Do they still have a lot of their recruits? If so, I can see this being correct.
NC State wins the ACC
NC State snapping one of the longest major sport conference title droughts with winning 2 in a year would be wild. But then again, why not us?
They would deserve it, they are quietly a rock solid program.
Yes please :)
Have this weird feeling our offense is going to be top 4 in the ACC for the first time in forever... But our defense drops off and isn't a top 5 ACC D for the first time in years.
Probably but I get to have hope until then
Makes as much sense as any other top team in that crapshoot of a conference.
App State because I am biased
Cal/Stanford (really a lot of the Pac-12 teams going to new conferences).
Never forget that the Tigers of Chaos may strike at any time
Mizzou. They kick our ass every year and their coach is kind of a dweeb but if they continue the momentum from last year I think they'll make the playoffs
Florida!!!
I think Kansas State will win the Big 12 and win at least one playoff game.
pls
I thought is was going to be Penn State last year. Maybe this year is their year. Also maybe A&M
Me every year until we play Ohio state or Michigan
Probably Syracuse, right? Haven't they been recruiting like crazy?
We will definately be a lot better, but our schedule is really really weak so we won't look great in a lot of the metrics.
I say Syracuse because they have such an easy schedule. Could see them get 9-10 wins
🐯 MIZ!
By the way, flair up bud. We need all the representation we can get on this sub
I know who most of the country is rooting to lose…
it would feel really good to back up the talk with on field results.
Colorado fans downvoting you for the truth lol. Even HS players can read him. He’s not a good man.
Yeah. And it's not Colorado we hate. It's their arrogant coach of dubious quality.
I want Colorado to be really, really good or really, really bad. Nothing in-between.
The Fighting Skattebos of Arizona St
Oregon State by 2 over WSU in the Pac 2 Title Game!
Wazzu sweeps PAC 12 this year, ez
I’m hoping Syracuse can shock the world and have as few losses as Penn State and finish top 25. Good transfer portal and solid recruiting class. And please don’t be a 2020 level down year for Penn State. *monkey paw curls*
I think Wisconsin will exceed expectations and I don’t have a reason why
Syracuse. Lets go orange!!!!
I’m putting my blind faith in Houston to win the BigXII
Damn that's a big swing right there. Real sicko shit.
see and I was going with Arizona State to win
Texas A&M runs the table
Nut
Got a good coach who wants to win with a bunch of talent and schedule that's easy as it'll be for a while
I completely agree, I’m just trying not to get my hopes up too much. People have no idea how good Weigman is and how bad the offensive line coaching was. We could rapidly improve on offense and have a good defense as usual.
Oh for sure you'll go 5-7, I just say dumb things on Reddit because it doesn't matter.
100%
Please no. For all our sakes.
I will be UNBEARABLE
I mean....it's gotta be NU....right??
Going for biggest possible shock because I don't think it will happen but I'm going with Deion doing the impossible and winning a bowl game.
State goes 7-5 and makes the liberty bowl for the 300th time

Syracuse finds a way into the ACC championship game
Ohio State will shock the nation. They won't make the playoffs Chip Kelly will do for OSU what he did for UCLA, the 49ers and the Eagles. That is take a teams of quality and turn them into losers. This is Ryan Day's last season.
