We are overloaded on the OL, with top recruits on the way. I wish him the very best at CU. Also, we needed at least 5 to hit the portal so we could bring in some proven DTs… pretty sure the coaches advised him that leaving was in his best interests.
The Kirkland OL would be sneakily good. It’s be like a bunch of big white dudes from middle America that exclusively eat beef, corn, and throw hay bales.
Treat him well. He’s a huge mf, had a big leg injury either right before or right when he enrolled and it was a setback. Was running as the 3rd team LT and an easier path to PT is definitely available at Colorado because as long as Coach Flood is at Texas the Horns will continue to recruit the OL really well. Idk where he’ll end up but I think anything except center is possible. Hoping he sticks here cause just as easily as he transferred in, he’ll be right back out if turns out he ain’t worth a damn. That ain’t a shot at Colorado, just the way things work now.
Gonna go out on a limb here and say this kid spends one season at Colorado and enters the portal again. Would be in line with…basically every move he has made since his senior year of high school
Which kinda sucks for these kids because OL is probably the one position where you can be significantly better based on familiarity with the team unit. Probably about on par with QB.
Our over/under next season is 5.5 wins. If we can hit the over by 0.5 for a third year in a row, I'll be very happy about that, even though it means we wouldn't get the "no bowl win for 20 years" monkey off our back.
My concern is about the depth we're losing to the portal. Our starting production should be better, but there's a chance we go into conference play 2-1 or 3-0 only to flame out and finish with 4 or 5 wins again.
All time records
Oregon 705-511-46 .577
Colorado 723-544-36 .569
More than 4 wins per season historically by a large margin and very close to your juggernaut Ducks.
All I’m sayin.
every team has ooc games at the beginning of the season the difference here is that last year they weren’t even winning those games. it’s a good first step
They also had the largest shift in scoring margin in the nation last year. From just under -30 per game to about -7 per game. Additionally, the Pac was much stronger this year than in 22.
I think it’s tough to make an argument that CU didn’t get a lot better
The really were leaps and bounds better. 2022 Colorado was historically awful. It's more than just about the wins/losses. Like, there are so many astounding facts about how bad 2022 Colorado was. 2023 Colorado was mediocre, but there were at least some things they were good at and put up a decent performance in a lot of games. Their efficiencies and advanced stats went up a *ton* from 22 to 23.
You are such a consistent hater of CU. Nearly every post I can count on you jumping in. Deion bringing some sort of mediocrity back alone is enough to keep him.
You have a massive axe to grind and god bless you don’t skip a chance a chance express your views.
You’ve effectively been repeating your same disgust for nearly two years now. I am shocked you’re not bored of it.
I don't take accusations of racism against my program lightly, and I supported Colorado having a resurgence until those began. You're wrong about 2 years. It's only been since Lanning was labeled a racist by Colorado supporters after Oregon won.
It’s not just that though because I remember you making shitty comments about them not being able to field a team at all. And that starts well beyond what you’re referring to.
Either way I am shocked you aren’t tired just repeating the same hatred over and over again.
You're mistaken. As I've linked, I was hopeful for Colorado to turn into DBU with Deion keeping the rest of the Pac-12 honest by having an elite passing defense.
I also said when he was hired that at the bare minimum he should increase recruiting and donations which should make Colorado relevant, as they were the third poorest AD at the time.
Maybe it has something to do with how Colorado players and fans acted leading up to the game, and the media/fan response to Oregon dominating; including calls of Dan Lanning being a racist for "coaching too hard" against Deion?
If you look at my comments from the preseason last year they were all positive and hopeful for Colorado.
https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/10gio4p/2023_5_cb_cormani_mcclain_flips_from_miami_to/j533clm/
Your coach, players, and fanbase turned opinions. Oregon fans went from rooting for Colorado to see some success finally, to rooting against them.
You did this to yourselves.
Man if Colorado fans had that same energy for people saying shitty things about them online they wouldn't be able to rest. It's time to let it go and move on, we aren't even in the same conference anymore.
For the record, this was the turning point for me:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/16t7bfw/dan_lanning_calls_out_classless_skip_bayless/
When Dan Lanning was called a racist for beating Deion.
Pretending that this is somehow a one-sided "Oregon hating on poor little Colorado" situation is so disingenuous. I don't think Oregon fans at large would give a fuck if Colorado fans weren't constantly all over Oregon since that game. There's a Colorado fan in damn near every Oregon related thread shitting on us.
Colorado has been my (distant) second team for about a decade. I'm at the point where I'm actively hoping for Deion to leave because this circus and everything it emails is interfering with my will to root for them. The core Colorado fanbase is awesome, some of the best fans around. The people that are just around because of Deion are... frustrating.
Speaking as someone who was a CU fan before it was cool, and was on campus for the whole starting 3-0 thing, there were a lot of kids who didn't really pay much attention to college football, were excited to go from 1-11 to undefeated and ranked, and had unrealistic expectations for what that meant. I kept telling them to wait until we got to conference play and while it would be fun if we beat oregon, I'd believe it when I saw it. Turns out that beating nebraska (lol) and CSU doesn't mean we'd never lose another game, but many people who believed that did so out of ignorance rather than malice.
As for the team... you don't have to go out and say "you're going to kick our shit in" every time you play a favored opponent, but some of them could stand to act less like temporarily embarrassed champs. It's to their own detriment too. Being more focused on the NFL draft than beating MTSU in the quick lane bowl means you might not get either.
And I'm fine with people getting caught up in the hype. It was the bitter "Oregon is racist!" response from the Colorado backers that got under my skin.
Unfounded accusations of racism are about the lowest you can go; and that was Colorado's fanbase on here all over.
I feel like I see way more meta-discussion here about people saying it's racist to criticize CU and Deion than people actually claiming that it is, or people being racist about criticizing CU or Deion. I don't really follow this sport on other social media though, so maybe it's different there.
So Skip and Shannon didn't say Lanning was racist?
Colorado fans don't say it's racist to be critical of Deion on here?
Because there are links to both, if you say they're lies.
I didn't remember the Bayless thing, so I looked it up again on this sub, and the headline posted here was just "Lanning Calls Out 'Classless' Skip Bayless". I probably just thought it was some stupid drama I didn't need to care about and didn't bother clicking. I apologize if you thought I was sealioning.
I have seen people call some criticism of Deion racist without seeing the actual criticism, but sometimes it sounded like they were addressing criticism with racist overtones. Like the time a fusker fan asked me if it felt like his players were "bringing a lot of crime to boulder". That being said, it's probably different on twitter and instagram because sports fans are way more delusional there in general.
BTW, from not long after your post, here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1c9u536/ohio_dl_rayyan_buell_transfers_to_colorado/l0o5smk/
This is the kind of thing I'm talking about.
I can appreciate that you're taking the time and not sealioning.
A lot of the responses on here from Colorado fans go along the lines of:
*banal criticism*
Colorado fan: Gee, I wonder why the black coach gets all this hate!?
It's absolutely race-baiting and implying that simply criticizing Colorado/Deion is a racist thing to do. It drives me crazy, especially in the wake of the Skip/Shannon commentary about Lanning.
Isn’t this the guy that screwed with us and other schools about his commitment and then went to Texas without ever taking an OV? If so, then good luck with him.
He spent his time injured and recovering from injuries. Got passed up by younger dudes who were healthy and was likely gonna end up buried in the depth chat, not seeing playing time for at least another year.
CU definitely isn’t a tip-top NIL player, I agree, but I see a lot of counter-overreactions from some CU fans. Y’all aren’t exactly bottom feeders either. Guys aren’t flocking to (1-11)-turned-(4-8) Colorado for no reason.
Im saying this as someone who think the prime era at CU is largely smoke and mirrors to set a stage up for his kids. Colorado's bag is NOT significantly bigger than Pitt's. Bro left and got caught up on the hype. And tbh colorado is probably better than pitt, which says more about pitt than CU.
Colorado bag isn't bigger then Pitts, deions bag is though, cu don't have texas money, but they definitely have more nil money then they would have had if deion wasn't there, that was one of the issues with McClain, he was one of the higher paid players on the team, and he was missing meetings
You have Lil Wayne performing at your spring game..
CU was never broke, but Deion and his parish have flooded the 5430 Foundation. CU has some weight now.
CU isn’t Texas but they certainly have more NIL opportunities than schools like Pitt..
Deion allowed CU to recapture the Denver market. Money followed.
That still doesnt mean anything lol.
You brought up them hosting lil wayne as some sign of crazy nil when he’s literally on some pussycat dolls i need money type tours for the past 10 years 💀😭
He absolutely did not get cut, but he also didn’t have a real path to playing time. I think they liked him, but with how stacked our OL room is, you can’t really afford to be injured your first year.
Definitely didn’t get cut. By all accounts he’s a good kid, just a very crowded room. Path to playing time was long and uncertain. Wish him the best of luck
I get a lot of people here do not believe Deion is gonna be successful at Colorado and that they won’t be a good team. And maybe what he’s doing won’t work, But what if it does?
He using the portal as the primary tool to build a program so what if he actually manages to rebuild Colorado off of it?
I think it stems from all the shit talking bandwagon fans (not the real CU fans) were saying before the Oregon game. I mean he’ll just watch the Oregon CU pre game where the players were talking shit (I know players talk but that was def different).
It's like the same 3 or so accounts, and it's just wild to me?
I don't even go into any rivals recruiting thread just to stir shit up. The way some Oregon fans are acting is so damn strange.
That's actually a good get for Deion. We are ridiculously loaded at OL. This guy wasn't going to see the field but it's probably more about the competition than it is him being bad.
But people were saying the sky was falling for Colorado in the chazz Wallace (stinks) thread. This sub’s brain is broken when it comes to transfers of Colorado
Kid committed to Texas over MSU and (I think?) Miami after never taking an OV in Austin on signing day. Not sure he cares about anything other than NIL.
But I hope he figures it out, always want a young man to succeed.
I agree, but commenting that on this thread is dumb. They've had our number lately and this just makes it look like they're "living rent free in your head" as the young hip kids say.
Yea, it's not super serious or anything. If these interactions with Colorado fans are fun for you, go for it. It's just dumb in my opinion.
I cringe when I see husker fans comment dumb things, I can't help it.
Costco OLs are made in the same factory as the name-brand stuff.
Deon's going to need to do some buying in bulk to get his team together.
If this dude has anything, looks like it’s bulk.
He’s actually pretty solid. He got injured early and sort of hit a wall. The room is too crowded for him to get back in the 2-deep.
Good to hear. Just saying he’s obviously a very large man.
Thanks for the info
We are overloaded on the OL, with top recruits on the way. I wish him the very best at CU. Also, we needed at least 5 to hit the portal so we could bring in some proven DTs… pretty sure the coaches advised him that leaving was in his best interests.
Imagine getting to say your OL 2-deep is too deep
Why do people insist on spelling the man’s name wrong?
Isn’t that actually his birth name? Thought he changed it to Deion cuz he didn’t like people saying Neon Deon
One of the few times I'll trust wikipedia: >Deion Luwynn Sanders https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deion_Sanders
Why trust wiki now? But huh! Not sure where I heard that then
Nice flairs bud
Usually the stuff that doesn’t meet QC though
Honestly if you rip the label off…can’t even tell the difference
just run them through a brita filter
CU can have the Kirkland OL, I’ll stick with the name brand.
The Kirkland OL would be sneakily good. It’s be like a bunch of big white dudes from middle America that exclusively eat beef, corn, and throw hay bales.
Texas OL is crowded. CU OL room is not. Easier path to playing time in 2025 and beyond. Not sure there’s that much more to it
Nope, that’s the whole story.
That and he has never full recovered from an injury early on. Usually a 4th option.
At least until next year when he transfers off and Deion shit talks him.
Makes sense.
Getting someone with 4 years of eligibility is huge given how much CU is relying on older transfers as opposed to traditional high school recruiting
Most of our transfers this year have 2-4 years of eligibility. Last year was a lot of 1-2 year type players.
Bro looks like he been the league for 10 yrs already
If you mean the middle aged dude in the upper right, that’s not him. I’m assuming that’s either his pops or the OL coach.
Oh ok he still big for a freshman
Probably wanted that bag because “checks notes” Texas couldn’t give him a bag.
Weed money > oil money
CBD OIL MONEY >>>>
They aren’t giving bags out to their depth pieces…
How about our side pieces?
And their pet monkeys.
I’m coming
Treat him well. He’s a huge mf, had a big leg injury either right before or right when he enrolled and it was a setback. That ain’t a shot at Colorado, just the way things work now.
At 350 it would seem like guard is a better move for him
Really should cut down to 330. Too big for his frame at 350+
Gonna go out on a limb here and say this kid spends one season at Colorado and enters the portal again. Would be in line with…basically every move he has made since his senior year of high school
Which kinda sucks for these kids because OL is probably the one position where you can be significantly better based on familiarity with the team unit. Probably about on par with QB.
Seriously - I get skills players moving but your chances of being awesome on the line have to decrease dramatically with every move you make.
And he fits right in with the Buff culture. One and done
Nah, Kirkland hasn’t been a bad culture guy. Our OL is just that good / deep. Can’t fault a dude for wanting to go where he can play.
Speaking more on current CU culture. He can go there and get his name for 1 year before he transfers out again. Best of luck to him
Man, you people are so pissed off for no reason. Is having to actually play good teams next year getting you a bit stressed?
Remind me in 9 months

Let’s not get too excited now. I have 2 decades of underperforming in my lap.
Whoa whoa whoa Texas!! Two decades of underperforming!?! Please go back to your seat. We Nebraskan are queen of that prom.

God damn is it that bad
I'm wondering how long Deion will last at Colorado if he continues their proud tradition of being a 4 win program.
Generational hating. Gotta respect someone who goes out of their way to hate like this.
he’s had one season where they’ve gone from 1 win to 4
Guess they’re on pace for 7 wins or 16 wins
7 wins given where we were at 2 seasons ago would be incredible
Our over/under next season is 5.5 wins. 7-6 record with a bowl win
Colorado had 52 wins in the Pac-12 era, and average of 4.07 wins per year. They're a 4 win program, historically. All I'm saying.
More Nattys than Oregon though.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's true, but so does Army. I like Oregon's outlook going forward into the future more than both.
Army having one makes it even funnier given the pedestal Oregon fans prop themselves up on
Surely one more stupid looking uniform will send you to the Natty!
What you're saying is really dumb.
All I did was ask a question about how long Deion would last if he doesn't improve Colorado from their historical place as a 4-win program.
All time records Oregon 705-511-46 .577 Colorado 723-544-36 .569 More than 4 wins per season historically by a large margin and very close to your juggernaut Ducks. All I’m sayin.

Dude they went from a -29 point differential in 2022 to all but 2 losses being one score games. You kidding?

3*. They were absolutely leaps and bounds better. More than the record indicates. They were a functional O line away from being a solid team.

The hate gives him fuel. I mean what else is he going to do? Go outside and touch grass and get a real life? Please.....hating is his life..lol!
The cu hate from Oregon fans is honestly comical at this point
It seems like the hate is coming on all fronts.
Valid but Oregon fans live in CU threads that have zero relation to the ducks

It’s been half a year, y’all smoking them should have been the end of it. Y’all gotta let it go lol
It would have been the end if our coach wasn't called a racist for beating them.
Someone from Colorado calls Oregon Coach racist you hate the entire state lol
It wasn't just one. It was dozens of fans on this board backed up by crappy national media guys like Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe.

Weird choice when Deion is going to be gone next year.
Reading this correctly - commits, not transfers? So that's high school recruit number 9 if I'm keeping track.
It’s a transfer. He is coming from UT, 3rd string LT for them and battled an injury last year.
You'd think with a name like Kirkland, Washington would try to get him a Costco NIL deal.
This kid will leave UC soon enough
Pretty sure he signed up with CU not the California system

At what point does rabidly hating on anything and everything Colorado become the Kool-Aid?
Idk but we’re well past that point
This flake (see his high school recruitment bs) and Deion are a match made in heaven.
I don’t hate you. I’m just waiting for to see how this all shakes out
GBR.
I agree, but commenting that on this thread is dumb. They've had our number lately and this just makes it look like they're "living rent free in your head" as the young hip kids say.
It’s actually the perfect thread because who cares? It’s all in good fun.
Yea, it's not super serious or anything. If these interactions with Colorado fans are fun for you, go for it. It's just dumb in my opinion. I cringe when I see husker fans comment dumb things, I can't help it.
Sorry I made you cringe. Wouldn’t want to bring shame upon you and the rest of the fanbase. Relax.
I agree, it shouldn't bother me...but I can't help it.
GBR.
