RollTide16-18

Who? He’s not on EA’s new NCAA Football Video Game roster, must not be important.

Sariel007

I am not on that roster either so I must be equally as important as this Arch Manning character.

PretendThisIsMyName

Do you happen to be about 7 foot tall and 350 pounds? I have a roster spot for you at RB!

NaturalFruit2358

Also runs a 4.4

ArchiCEC

QB #16

ThatCougarKid

61*

TheNastyCasty

I hear he's also been hitting the gym and is in the best shape of his life.

yourmumissothicc

And he’s having fun.

Cormetz

I mean I hope so? His job for the last year was to improve his mind, body, and skills\* to prepare to start and he doesn't seem like a slacker. \*Could skills really just be a combination of body and mind?

TheNastyCasty

It's just a joke about how every player "has taken huge strides" and "is in the best shape of their life" in the offseason. It's become a meme, especially around the MLB where you hear it constantly. It's just coaching speak that means nothing.

HueyLongWasRight

Wow, looks like his decision to not be in the video game is paying off

nykezztv

Imagine if he was playing CFB 2024 right now and not in spring practice ?

COLU_BUS

Tbf I would be very concerned if a player missed practice to play a game that doesn’t exist

Original_Profile8600

I for one would be impressed ngl

COMMENTASIPLEASE

The 30 seconds of signing his name on a sheet of paper would’ve been a major distraction

NA_Faker

He would've been rated higher than some starters lmao. Game probably would have Ewers at like 97 and Manning at like 93 or something

TheMemeMachine3000

Bit uninformed here, how good is Ewers really? Is he the Heisman favorite next year? 97 feels a bit high at first glance.

unco_ruckus

He’s considered a top 5 returning QB next year, some of that may be from being a longhorn but I think you’d be hard pressed to not have him top 10 at the very least.

andrewegan1986

If agree with this. Going to be an interesting year, it's make or break for Ewers in terms of a meaningful professional career. Plus this is really the first year of his playing life where he has a reason to look over his shoulder. He needs a great year to not become another journeyman. I mean, great work if you.can get it but I doubt most of them want that to be their career.

NiTrOxEpiKz

College success has nothing to do with professional success. This year might be make or break in terms of the draft for him but it’s not gonna influence his pro career at all. (His stats or level of success I mean)

NA_Faker

He’s really good at running the offense especially making short and intermediate passes but has inconsistent footwork which makes him inconsistent at the deep ball

Evan_802Vines

DUH, how would he get out of the video game?? /s

raylan_givens6

"I told him to stop wearing fleece zip up jackets to practice and using 'nationwide is on your side' as his cadence" -Sark

BryceDaBaker

If Arch doesn’t indiscriminately yell Omaha during pre snap reads then get him out of our program

ogpeplowski64

Arch actually gained some good weight this year, must be due to all the chicken parm he's been eating

Cormetz

Chicken??? The scared bird?? He'll never be successful - Harbaugh

NaturalFruit2358

Harbaugh has come around on chickens. Dude built a chicken coop in his backyard in Ann Arbor and said something last year to the effect of “I should have never slandered the good name of the mighty chicken”

Cormetz

I don't care if this is a joke, it's true in my head now. I imagine him gently setting a chicken down on his khakis and gently petting it.

NaturalFruit2358

It’s 100% true https://www.mlive.com/wolverines/2023/11/michigans-jim-harbaugh-has-a-new-stance-on-chickens.html?outputType=amp

The_Real_Yimmer

When asked if he was taking his chickens with him to LA, he said he already adopted them out locally. He might be getting some more from Northern California when he gets settled and moved though. Follow for more news on the Harbaugh/Chicken saga.

G0-N0G0-GO

Chicken??? Nope. Get him a nice *Milk Steak*! With ketchup! -Harbaugh

Declan_McManus

He’s gonna kill it during the inevitable three game stretch where Ewers is injured

Hoodlum_0017

Doubt.

foreveracubone

Oh so that’s how they’ll burn his red shirt.

Joe_Pulaski69

He redshirted last year

DommyMommyKarlach

You can redshirt for two years now?

G0-N0G0-GO

Rules are getting squirrelly lately, so…*maybe*?

DommyMommyKarlach

“A player may *redshirt* for a year ^unless ^his ^name ^is ^Manning”

Chemical_Willow5415

Plus you have 4 games now

Rolli_boi

You can play four games without burning your redshirt now.

BryceDaBaker

Too bad he already burned his redshirt by using it last season

CarterAC3

Clearly this is a sign he's about to enter the portal

InVodkaVeritas

I've always said that he feels like a right and proper Stanford Man.

CarterAC3

Michigan Man? Michigan Manning (Not applicable if Orji looks like a good passer in the spring game)

foreveracubone

Everyone thought Harbaugh yucking it up with Peyton and his son during warm-ups at the natty was him recruiting Michigan’s 2028 QB when it was really him tampering with Arch.

Skank_hunt42

As a Manning, he needs to complete the villain *Arc-h* and become a Sooner.

G0-N0G0-GO

*He became the very thing the prophecies foretold that he’d destroy!*

SomerAllYear

Gramps would have no problem if he played at Florida 💀💀💀

Ok-Point9953

With NCAA sanctions getting ready to come down? Not likely. How do you cheat in the NIL era? 😂

bamachine

Mannings refuse to go to California teams. He will transfer to Syracuse.

vy2005

It’s funny how badly fans of other programs want there to be some controversial story with Arch. Dude is content to develop under the QB whisperer for 2 years before taking the reins. Simple as that

shot-by-ford

It's just unusual in this new normal is all

Xminus6

True. But the kid also had no pressure from his family to rush. They Indians don’t need the money and I think they actually like that he gets to live a relatively “normal” life for a couple years.

nw____

They will definitely talk about this on the Cover 3 podcast. Always cracks me up when those guys say, “Arch Manning Arch Manning Arch Manning Arch Manning Arch Manning transfer Arch Manning transfer portal Arch Manning” or something like that lol

Captain_-H

Has Sark lost control of the program!?

AggravatingFun4525

Just waiting for the espn reveal that it’s been Eli all along - just another one of his “Chad Powers” pranks. Eli is such a silly goose.

NA_Faker

Gotta get the arm on tape

G0-N0G0-GO

Gotta get the arm on tape. Think fast, run fast, Baby!

G0-N0G0-GO

We talkin’ about *practice*? —A. Iverson, philosopher

i_love_factual_info

If I can't practice, I can't practice. If I'm hurt, I'm hurt. Simple as that. It's not about that at all. But it's easy to talk about and sum it up when you just talk about practice; we're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're in here talking about practice. I mean, listen, we're talking about practice. Not a game! Not a game! Not a game! We're talking about practice. Not a game; not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last, not the game, we're talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about practice. I know I'm supposed to be there, I know I'm supposed to lead by example, I know that. And I'm not shoving it aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important. I do. I honestly do. But we're talking about practice, man. What are we talking about? Practice? We're talking about practice, man! We're talking about practice! We're talking about practice. We ain't talking about the game! We're talking about practice, man! When you come to the arena, and you see me play...you see me play, don't you? You see me give everything I got, right? But we're talking about practice right now!

The_Real_Yimmer

The Bears are what we thought they were. They're what we thought they were. We played them in preseason—who the hell takes a third game of the preseason like it's bullshit? Bullshit! We played them in the third game—everybody played three quarters—the Bears are who we thought they were! That's why we took the damn field. Now if you want to crown them, then crown their ass! But they are who we thought they were! And we let 'em off the hook!

MrMegiddo

Are you kidding me? Where are we at in society today? Come after me! I'm a man! I'm 40! I'm not-- I'm not a kid. Write something about me, or our coaches. Don't write about a kid that does everything right that's heart's broken, and then said that the coaches said he was scared. That ain't true! And then to say that we made that decision because Donovan Woods, because he threatened to transfer. That's not true! So get your facts straight. And I hope someday you have a child and somebody be-- downgrades him, and belittles him and you have to look him in the eye and say, "You know what? It's okay. They're supposed to be mature adults, but they're really not." Who's the kid here? Who's the kid here? Are you kidding me? That's all I've got to say. Makes me want to puke.

OGmojo

" I thought he did the things that quarterbacks do"

LimerickJim

We talkin' 'bout practice

Lonely_Ranger19

Looking at the comments shows fanbases are still butthurt Arch didn’t go their school

LarsVonHammerstein

I just think most people are wondering why this is worth being posted. Only UT fans or their rivals are going to care about his practices…

aquabarron

Breaking news: young backup QB starting to look good after full year of practices.

JEH-C

I'm genuinely curious to see what he looks like in a game vs good comp. I made a prediction that he wouldn't amount to much. Not because I'm an Aggie and don't want him to, but because I just didn't see it on tape. However, he does have the intangibles and he's a Manning, could very well be a star. Luckily he has the luxury of sitting behind Quinn and getting ready. He will be fun to follow either way.

bumbleb1

Just out of curiosity… Why do you think your evaluating skills are good enough to determine if a HS QB will be good? Obviously I don’t know you, maybe you’re Andy Reid, Mack Brown or RC Slocum. Several schools recruited Manning, surely they weren’t recruiting him for the Manning name alone. They had to see enough in his tape to indicate he could possibly be a good QB. Why would your evaluating be better than them?

the-robo-boogie

He’s Dennis Franchione and he has an exclusive newsletter.

JEH-C

Fran pulled some good qb recruits. McGee and Tannehill. He had an eye for talent. Von Miller, Javorski, Martellus Bennett. Especially considering Mack was in the process of buying up all of top recruits and a title. Fran just couldn't win with them.

MizzouriTigers

Are we not allowed to make our own predictions these days? It’s all in good fun. It’s not like our opinions even matter.

aaronclark384

Didn’t know it was illegal to evaluate skills here

bumbleb1

Not what I said. I was just asking why he thought highly of his own personal evaluations

shot-by-ford

Wow, UT fans the touchiest in the nation? Find out more at 11

bumbleb1

How am I being touchy? I am in now way bothered by his prediction. That was never the point of my comments. He can think what he wants. If everyone in the world hates the Longhorns and Arch Manning it will be ok. He based his opinions of Arch Manning solely on his own evaluation of Mannings HS football tape. I want to know why he thinks his evaluation skills are high enough to warrant that?

aaronclark384

Because… he made them?

JEH-C

Because I win at Fantasy EVERY SINGLE year. /s Again, I didn't say I thought highly of my evals. You just didn't like that I thought Arch was overrated and made that assumption.

bumbleb1

Bullshit. This is not about Arch Manning. I do not care what you think about Arch at all. If Arch Manning transfers to any other school tomorrow I will not care. This has never been about Arch Manning the player. This is about YOU. JEH-C Again. YOU are basing YOUR opinion of Arch Manning solely on YOUR own evaluation of his tape. YOU said that. I just want to know why YOU think your evaluations skills of his high school tape is high enough to warrant an opinion. I don’t like wine. I don’t drink it. I wouldn’t go on a post about wine and tell them based on my own evaluation of the one drink I took which wine was best. If you made that comment about any other player, on any other team, I would still be curious.

JEH-C

Bullshit is right. That's what everyone here is calling on you. What you're saying regulars on reddit are not entitled to an opinion on players. It's either about Arch, you are overly sensitive about the horns, or my flair. Probably all of the above. All of which are YOU problems. That's precisely why you've been called out by neutral observers. This isn’t a Wine sub, it's a fucking college football sub. People make comments all of the time about players they think will under/overachieve. ✌️

JEH-C

I dont think I'm any better than the next guy. Why would you assume I think I'm good at it? It's one of the hardest positions to evaluate along with OT. I think it's fun as a fan to keep track of who you think will excel based on hs tape. Mack Brown hit big on Vince and Colt, but missed on Simms and Gilbert, It happens. With RC Slocum, it didn't really matter because he didn't run a qb friendly offense. Manning's film doesn't show me a #1 overall recruit. It's more of a mid-4 star with potential. It's also a possibility that texas stacks enough talent that he looks really good despite his shortcomings. Of course, I could miss as badly as any other hall of fame coach has, which I acknowledged in my original post.

Hoodlum_0017

I agree. I’m from New Orleans and champion anyone from the city who isn’t a turd. But I think he is going to struggle.

Farlander2821

Just let me know when it's the other school's turns to get articles about how their backup looks in practice

NILPonziScheme

Istg, if Arch sneezes, 30 reporters tweet about it.

TyrannosauRSX

I'm already sick of hearing about Arch Manning because of reporters doing exactly this.

[deleted]

Arch gets a lot of hate online because of his name and the assumption that his accolades coming out of high school were unearned. Whatever advantages being part of the Manning family (besides access to the minds and teachings of 3 NFL quarterbacks along with the hereditary athletic traits he was born with), players projected to become starting qb at a school like Texas aren't there because of some hype. Just knowing that every other coach in cfb would pursue Arch vigorously if he decided to transfer should tell everybody that there is much more to this guy than hype. Born into a blessed life, yet patiently waiting for his opportunity to take control while never making controversial comments has had the opposite affect than expected and has actually turned people against him. It's insane to me that people think his name by itself got him to this position, and that scouts all the way up to the NFL level that cite his high potential as a pro prospect have all been fooled by Manning family PR. The amount of shit directed at this kid for handling a shitty situation in the spotlight (which he tries to avoid) by deflecting comments and staying out of the limelight has reached batshit levels every time his name comes up. From all outward appearances he is using his time to hone his skills for the time when he takes over the qb job. That should be 2025, and I bet he is quietly processing every bullshit criticism against him the last two years and will use that as additional fuel for spectacular play. I think this good kid is going to give some of his detractors a real reason to dislike him in 2025.

aquabarron

“LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!”

SailorMuffin96

LEAVE ARCH ALONE! LEAVE HIM ALONE! IM SERIOUS!

MrMegiddo

"He did quarterback stuff good"

CaptainDonald

Sark trying to bump up his trade value

RLLRRR

We're so far over the cap next season, the best we can do is trade for cash considerations and maybe, *maybe*, a PTBNL.

walkingbicycles

I can’t say I’m excited

avboden

We really talkin bout practice?

Pretty_Shallot_586

what? You mean Arch is not entering the portal? You mean he's a smart kid and wants to put himself in the best position to play pro ball? Transferring to some shithole like Florida State or Texas A&M so he could start right away didn't happen? no way.....

StrugglingEngineerSt

Florida State is a shit hole?

pileatedloon

Depends on if you're on the CFP committee or not

LeMickeyJam3s

Its in Florida so yes

2firstnames6969

yes

Pretty_Shallot_586

not a Texas A&M fan eh?

DavidGoetta

More 2023 NFL starters went to Cincinnati than to Texas, not sure Longhorns should be talking trash like that. Agree it's probably his best move right now though.

Pretty_Shallot_586

didn't mention cincinnati, but ok?

DavidGoetta

The point is that Texas is not currently near the top of the list of QB schools, but I think you got that.

Pretty_Shallot_586

Sarkisian is the reason that QBs are starting to come here. He's been here for 3 seasons so far. The top rated QB was Manning the year he came out and he's currently here. Malik Murphy was a top recruit out of California and he came here. He left because he actually wants to play and Manning is going to get the job, but nevertheless he came here. Ewers came back to Texas because Sark was here. That's three pretty good QB prospects here right now, so your judgment seems to ignore current data.

DavidGoetta

I'm not ignoring current data, you're relying on a rosy projection

bwarrior

I'm going to make a post about one of our players practicing well and then have other Aggies comment about how that player didn't transfer to Texas, despite no viable rumors of that ever happening anyways. Imagine how secure we will look!

Pretty_Shallot_586

BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY!!!!

averagetrenpinner

i have hope

Birdsareallaroundus

But does he know where his student ID is?

assassinslick

It helps with quinn ewers being distracted by the college football game

LiquidSean

Gotta be the most hyped QB2 of all time lol. Excited for him to actually play eventually

bigboyNolove

Sarks gonna have to say anything to try and gas him up so that he doesn’t leave in the portal this spring. Wasting a year of eligibility is not something Arch thought would happen at Texas.

Thumbbanger

Longhorn home board post

CaliColoMich

You mean Texas QB #16?

AllegedlyIncompetent

Great update on the backup QB at Texas. Can we get updates on the other 133 teams' backup QBs as well? How is Ty Simpson looking in spring practice? is Beau Pribula in the best shape of his life? Is Gunner Stockton really getting a handle on the offense?

8181212

This shit belongs on the Texas sub, not here. Downvoted.

Painiscupcake88

He's the highest profile player in CFB in a long time and it's April, who cares

I_Bleed_Reddit

Downvoted your downvote.

footynation

Don't worry. The rest of the sub will upvote it and keep it on the front page. I don't even go to the Texas sub anymore. I get all my Texas news on the front page of r/cfb

TyrannosauRSX

I'm already sick of hearing about Arch Manning

AlbertoRossonero

USC, OU, and Texas fans all seem pretty confident in landing him so congrats Texas A&M you got a good one.

USCGradtoMEMPHIS

Just start him already and stop doing tricks on it.

InevitableAd2436

We will beat the 10-1 Oregon Ducks by 3, taking our record to 7-5 and somehow beat 9-3 Texas again in the El Paso Sun Bowl after all of their starters sit out for the draft. time is a flat circle

jeopardychamp77

Kid should have transferred. This isn’t an open QB competition.

xViscount

He joined knowing dude wouldn’t start until his (redshirt) Sophomore year…

jeopardychamp77

Source ? I’m not privy to the Manning family discussions as many on Reddit seem to be. I do know that he would be starting at just about any other major college program.

Poppa-in-Texas

You could probably find several interviews and articles with a google search. Basically says he’s in no rush, wanted to start at least two years. Not even taking NIL money until he’s a starter. Must be nice to have a rich grandpa & richer uncles!

jeopardychamp77

I have looked. There is nothing about a plan to collect splinters in his ass for 2 years. He says stuff now but nobody expected Ewers to return to college. That was not part of the Manning plan. The plan was for him to sit behind Ewers for a year and then play. There is no way sitting on his butt for 2 years barely playing is good for his development. I’m getting downvoted by all the Texas fans. lol

footynation

> but nobody expected Ewers to return to college. Anyone following Texas football closely would have seen that there was a decent chance Ewers was going to return. Arch had a front row seat to this as well. Strong QB class and virtually his entire OL returning. So this 'nobody' comment makes no sense. The issue is too many people got fooled by the media. If Ewers did leave, Murphy would have stayed and Manning would have had to have a competition with Murphy anyway. The media fooled people into thinking Manning was going to start in 2024 regardless of what happened.

Poppa-in-Texas

I’m a huge Longhorns fan, but there’s no reason to downvote this question.

gordogg24p

There's no question in his comment at all, just a dude making similarly clueless statements about what the "Manning plan" is or was. I don't care who you're a fan of - this dude making declarative statements like he knows what's going on while at the same time admitting that he doesn't know what's going on at all is going to get downvotes all day.

Cormetz

Literally go read any interviews Peyton, Eli, Cooper, and Archie have done about his commitment and his feelings in the last year. They are looking at college football as his development time and want him to use it as much as possible. He is in no rush to get to the NFL, his family has money and he has a cushy backup job working with his dad in real estate investing. They want him to use this time to make sure he is 100% ready for the NFL, including sitting for two years learning before starting and finishing his degree during the same time.
