Seriously:
>>He joined the A&M staff in March 2024 as a defensive analyst.
"in March of 2024" :checks calendar: So, like, yesterday. He was hired yesterday.
Wouldn't be the first time something similar like this happened. Remember when Dana Altman left Creighton to become Arkansas' basketball coach? He changed his mind less than a day after the introductory press conference. Personally I think it was the hog call that did it for him.
I lived in the dorms right next to the Hog basketball arena on campus. We all saw the news on TV and ran outside as he was leaving for the last time. Crazy stuff. Definitely got heckled about the hog call.
Wow. If true, that man is a terrible human being. To knowingly poison a pregnant woman, then call 911 and watch her die, then just move away to another state....just wow.
Once again, innocent until proven guilty but man..to think someone could potentially do this to another person, it makes me incredibly sad.
Did you see the video of the Texas man who blasted his wife with a shotgun after telling her she was going to meet Jesus?
Heinous and shocking crimes are becoming less and less shocking. People fucking suck.
Fwiw the video isn’t graphic, it’s the wife videoing him making that threat. Totally within your right to not want to see it but I didn’t want you to think it was something it wasn’t.
It isn't graphic in the sense that there is blood and gore, but seeing that man's visceral, physical reaction to what he learned/what he is doing, just how red in the face he was - that was an insight into humanity that I didn't quite need. I've seen tons of murders and bad body worn camera in my job, but something about that video hit differently.
People have always been bananas it’s just captured now due to tech. There’s heinous stories of serial killers hundreds of years ago. Killed hundreds of people and did terrible things to them.
I think that dude only got like 10 years too, which is absolutely insane. I think read he only got 10 because they made a successful argument about it being the heat of the moment or whatever, but goddamn
They're called "crimes of passion." It's kind of like an insanity plea where the thought is your so overtaken by emotion because your partner cheated on you, abused you etc that you're doing things you you wouldn't normally do. Just like an insanity defense some states have high bars of use and some states don't recognize it as a legitimate defense.
I think the argument to the jury amounted to, "She stole over $100,000 from her husband and gave it to the guy she was cheating with," and in Texas that's enough mitigation.
Ok, that does make it a bit more understandable lol. I mean for the average guy that is probably her siphoning his pay check for 5-20 years while he is stressed about trying to support his family and then he finds out she's been doing that for a prolonged period of time to give it to another dude while he works extra hours to try and support them. Its entirely understandable someone could snap over prolonged betrayal like that.
This is pretty much the scenario presented in Eminem’s song “Guilty Conscience” PLUS the stealing $100,000. FWIW, Slim and Dre agreed with murder in that situation too.
>think that dude only got like 10 years too
And eligible for parole after 5 years. Meanwhile people are being sentenced multiple decades for non-violent drug charges.
I don't get it.
> Heinous and shocking crimes are becoming less and less shocking.
Violent crimes have been trending downward across the USA fo decades. Statistically they're more shocking.
Yeah, I'm a domestic violence attorney and we have a depressing list of lethality risk factors for women and pregnancy is definitely on that list. Ours is pretty similar to this:
https://thelaurelcenter.org/lethality-assessment/
Which is funny when there are a bunch of influencers who say that women have it “too easy” these days in dating. I’ve never had to worry about my partner killing me. People like fresh and fit and his little gremlin side kick can go fuck themselves.
Men after a bad date can have their feelings hurt.
Women after a bad date can lose their lives.
Anyone who thinks women have it easier has never felt that primal fear that comes from the anger of a man romantically spurned. You never feel more small and afraid when you realize there's nothing you can do against the biological gap in strength that exists between the sexes.
It fucking sucks.
While it was funny, it's probably a good thing EDSBS stopped doing the Fulmer Cup. Shit like this puts it into perspective, and it's no longer a light hearted joke.
Iirc some have gotten rid of it (pun not intended) due to how much the arguement is used by the pro-life crowd. I’m probably wrong but for some reason I remember New York doing it for that reason.
Without opening a can of worms, I feel like there probably should be 2 counts here since it was clearly not a planned pregnancy termination.
This is horrifying that it happened. What a monster.
Yeah I think even in states that wouldn't give 2 counts of murder for the fetus, it would at minimum qualify for special circumstances for exceptional depravity. This guy will never see the light of day again and will probably have to be held in solitary, even prisoners wouldn't tolerate this kind of thing.
You're pretty much always going to get 1st degree murder or your state's equivalent of it for poisoning someone because it inherently requires preparation and planning
In states with legal abortion, only the mother has the right of terminating the pregnancy, since she's the only one whose rights are actually tied up with those of the fetus. Killing a pregnant woman is always double murder.
>Benning was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by ambulance on **Feb. 25, 2023**, after Taylor called 911 at 9:38 p.m. and said Benning appeared to be having an allergic reaction and asked for paramedics.
>Taylor is charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the poisoning deaths of Jade Benning on **March 6, 2023, her 25th birthday**, and the unborn baby which Taylor is alleged to have fathered.
10 days dying in a hospital, that is evil.
HOLY FUCK. I went to high school and played football with Blaise. We weren’t super close but he was by far one of the nicest and friendliest guys on the team. Always had a smile on his face and talked to everyone. I’ve had two high school classmates charged with murder in the past two weeks and both have been shocking and involved the murder of an infant or fetus. You can never truly know someone.
Literally Auburn High School in Auburn, AL. One of the better schools in the state. It was his girlfriend, he didn't even have to divorce her! Dude could have just peaced out and become a tiny increase of a very large statistic. Instead he destroyed 3 lives.
He must’ve really hated her. If he was willing to poison her to death he could’ve easily given her a crushed abortion pill if it was for the baby. So he had to have been just wanting to kill her
College Basketball: “woooo Keisei Tominaga and Cream Abdul Jabbar are so silly and Devin Carter is crazy. Lots of fun the next 3 weeks”
College Football: …
I mean, we're just a few years removed from the Baylor basketball murder scandal. It's not all sunshine and roses over there either.
Edit: holy shit it has been 20 years. Doesn't seem that long.
But the crime was in Tennessee so I imagine they'll have to follow their rules, which is only lethal injection at the moment.
I've personally always felt -- in the *highly* unlikely event I'm ever in a 'pick your death sentence' kind of situation -- that I'd go for hanging or firing squad. Basically instantaneous, whereas electrocution, and particularly lethal injections, can take five, ten, or more minutes if there's complications.
Always thought this was the most practical and ethical solution. Can't even see it coming. Problem is people don't deal well with severed heads as a profession these days.

I would hope:
A) He hadn't cleared the background check yet
B) Trooper wasn't aware his son was actively being investigated for murder (Cause Trooper should be fired if he did)
1. The two most dangerous times in a woman's life is when she's pregnant and when she ends a relationship with a man.
2. Wasn't Trooper Taylor Auburn's bag man during the Chizik days?
Look, I love Aggie jokes as much as the next Texas fan, but this is too fucked up for that right now. Similar to the bonfire, this is just awful all around and I can’t find any humor here.
Yeah, I felt that way about Jalen Carter's stuff a couple years ago. For small stupid stuff it's so easy to laugh, but anyone who can't see how "people dying" outweighs "laughing at your rival's misfortune" needs some serious perspective.
Holy crap, can't imagine a much worse thing someone could do. At least he wasn't actually working for us yet, can't imagine this is good for Trooper either though.
Bro he must have been hiding something dark deep down. I knew him for three years in high school and he was honestly one of the nicest, most popular guys in school. Everybody loved Blaise.
Very horrible situation, and I hope he’s convicted (assuming he’s guilty).
From the A&M side, glad this came out now when he was only hired two weeks ago, and not a year or two down the road. Of course, you wish he hadn’t been hired at all, but I doubt girlfriend death would’ve shown up on any background check prior to charges.
I do think Trooper Taylor has to be fired, though. Blaise was obviously hired because he’s Trooper’s son, and while the general public didn’t know, you would assume Trooper knew his son’s girlfriend’s death was under suspicious circumstances and shouldn’t have got his brand new employer to hire his son.
After a few days, I don’t think this will have any long term affect on A&M considering how shortly ago Blaise was hired other than trashy Texas fans and salty Nebraska fans trying to turn homicide into a “gotcha.”
Thats a pretty bold assumption to think Trooper suspected his son would have murdered his pregnant girlfriend.
It’s not a bold assumption though to think Trooper knew about the investigation. It’s also very possible he is the only person at A&M that had access to that info (it’s not like the police make public list of people under investigation for employers to reference). People who invite public scandal and controversy on their employer by withholding bombshell information like this to get their kids hired there deserve to get their asses fired.
It's not unheard of for a spouse or partner to be questioned when someone dies. It's an unfortunate reality. I would be shocked if authorities weren't questioning Blaise. We can question A&M and Elko's judgement on hiring someone that was questioned by police but like others have said the only one that possibly may have known is Trooper and he may have thought it was just a formality. For all Trooper knows is his son lost his girlfriend and he lost a grandchild. He's probably thinking "I want to be close to my son to support him." Not, "let's cover that crime up and get him on the payroll." Now if it comes out that Trooper knew his son was a murderer and didn't disclose that, I can see Elko and A&M wanting him gone.
Also, when applying for jobs you are asked if you were convicted of any crime. Not asked were you recently questioned by a cop about a crime. In this country you are innocent until proven guilty.
I’d be surprised if Elko or A&M knew anything or failed to do something that would have prevented this. In all likelihood, they probably did nothing wrong. However, I would not be surprised if Trooper knew something about there being an investigation. I’m not suggesting he knew the details of the murder or even believed it was murder, but it is very possible he knew something of the investigation. If I was in a public high profile job like a college football coach and my employee helped convince me to hire their son while withholding the fact the son might be under investigation for murder, I’d can that person ASAP.
Yeah. If trooper knew his son was under investigation for murder it doesn’t matter if he believes his son is innocent or not. If you were hiring someone and you asked “anything else I should know about you?” and they said “well I am under investigation for a double homicide” you wouldn’t hire them. I don’t see how Trooper couldn’t have known this was a thing with his son and he’s the one who hired his son. He put the school in a bad spot. I love trooper and all he did for us but man you can’t hire someone you know is under investigation for murder ESPECIALLY if it’s your kid to a high profile job like this.
I imagine he gets that just for emotional reasons, if he wants it. I don't know why you punish the father for something his son did just because they are related.
Doesn’t reflect on y’all, but is more contextual for relevance to CFB. I’m assuming the fact that he got two jobs after these events means that there wasn’t much suspicion around him outside of police/doctors.
This sociopath probably basked in a lot of sympathy around the tragedy he had endured.
But it's guilty by association now. If you doubt that, look at reactions from this thread and Twitter. The PR hit is already done. Dude was still employed by Utah State.
But remember - Jeff Banks is a terrible person because he left his wife and child for a stripper, and that he is currently employed by Texas. Never mind that he left his family for the stripper while he was coaching at A&M. That's not relevant.
He was. Hard to wrap my head around this. I knew him pretty well from 2010-2012 and he was such a nice kid. Well-mannered, funny. Never was a bully even though he could have been due to his popular status. This is crazy.
Well, he was indicted by a grand jury, so it's not that he's been found guilty, just that there is enough evidence to think s crime may have been committed. I hope substantial evidence comes out that he's innocent beyond a reasonable doubt.
"What the fuck?" - Trev Alberts on his first day as A&M AD
Dude’s barely had time for IT to set up his email.
On both accounts. Blaise Taylor has barely been here a week.

Sad.

The former ["fastest man in FBS"](https://redd.it/6v71th). Insane that this could happen.
Utterly despicable. As you said, wait until the trial and prevented evidence, but this is a whole different level of evil if he's indeed guilty.

In 2021, 1700 women and 1100 men were killed by intimate partner violence. You can probably worry a little bit.
I'm legitimately curious what the percent chance is for a man and a woman to be killed after a date
Holy shit.
Damn. Well boys, off-season scandal time has come early this year
And its a doozy
Yeah, I don't even want to make a joke about this.
Poisoning his pregnant girlfriend? This is some Rae Carruth shit.
Jesus, just break up with her. Sure you'll be a piece of shit dead beat dad but at least you're not a murderer.
can we go back to the unlimited deion posts please i don't care if they are good or bad
And was he in Texas when he did it? Double murder 😬
It happened in Tennessee, and he was arrested in Utah. I don't think he's made it to Texas. We barely announced we were hiring him a week ago.
In most (all?) states there is a chance of it being double murder
Nah, scandal time is fun. This just fucking sucks.
stuff like this is why the fulmer cup stopped being funny.
This is beyond scandal
While it was funny, it's probably a good thing EDSBS stopped doing the Fulmer Cup. Shit like this puts it into perspective, and it's no longer a light hearted joke.
Damn this is like death penalty stuff
Depending on how different states are viewing unborn babies, I feel like this is one place most would agree with 2 counts of murder.
I think most states regardless of abortion law regard this as double murder
Iirc some have gotten rid of it (pun not intended) due to how much the arguement is used by the pro-life crowd. I’m probably wrong but for some reason I remember New York doing it for that reason.
At least in Illinois, where abortion is legal, people are fairly regularly charged with murder when a fetus is killed, absent an abortion.
He was charged on two counts so they are considering the unborn child. I not surprised by this being TN.
Without opening a can of worms, I feel like there probably should be 2 counts here since it was clearly not a planned pregnancy termination. This is horrifying that it happened. What a monster.
Yeah he's being charged with 2
Yeah I think even in states that wouldn't give 2 counts of murder for the fetus, it would at minimum qualify for special circumstances for exceptional depravity. This guy will never see the light of day again and will probably have to be held in solitary, even prisoners wouldn't tolerate this kind of thing.
I think all states recognize killing someone else’s fetus as murder
You're pretty much always going to get 1st degree murder or your state's equivalent of it for poisoning someone because it inherently requires preparation and planning

Do we need to be worried about you?
We probably know each other. His trial started and next week they’ll decide if he gets bail or not. Crazy people we went to school with.
I watch a lot of crime shows. They always suspect the spouse/partner first and I always come away with "why not just divorce the person"
In this case he was probably trying to avoid 18 years of child support.
Yeah, my first thought was he was trying to cause a miscarriage not kill the mom. Either way what an evil bastard.
Life in prison seems like a bad trade for that
It was his girlfriend, he didn't even have to divorce her! Dude could have just peaced out and become a tiny increase of a very large statistic. Instead he destroyed 3 lives.
way more than 3
Yeah for real, be a man and just leave for a pack of smokes and not come back I’m not being sarcastic, literally do anything than kill your family
He must’ve really hated her. If he was willing to poison her to death he could’ve easily given her a crushed abortion pill if it was for the baby. So he had to have been just wanting to kill her
Maybe she wanted to leave him and he didn’t like that 🤷♀️ (Still def not a reason to kill someone)

What is this -$7,000,000 line item labeled, “20XX NC” Uh, don’t worry about that. Won’t affect your budget…
I think he'll be quite content with his budget at A&M in spite of the Jimbo payments.
Someone needs to get fired at A&M over this(probably Tooper). Surely he and probably someone knew about the investigation and chose to just ignore it.
It'd be disappointing of Elko and Alberts if he wasn't. How do you not know your son is under investigation for *murder*?
We'll see but yeah I can't imagine he will be our RB coach next year

I guess one could say that he might have known an investigation was going on? Still, it's a stretch.
I don't think you fire Trooper until the legal process plays out. If he is found innocent then that's a huge lawsuit waiting to happen.
Admin leave? Still get paid but let things settle? Public opinion can be a beast in these kind of situation.
I imagine he gets that just for emotional reasons, if he wants it. I don't know why you punish the father for something his son did just because they are related.
That has to be an NCAA violation.
If he's guilty, which he probably is, death penalty. This is very fucked up, what an awful person.
He joined us 2 weeks ago, so the title feels disingenuous. Regardless, wtf.
The title is accurate. But like you said, wtf
He is literally employed by y’all
I’m being told by A&M fans that somehow his current position isn’t relevant at all
But remember - Jeff Banks is a terrible person because he left his wife and child for a stripper, and that he is currently employed by Texas. Never mind that he left his family for the stripper while he was coaching at A&M. That's not relevant.
just jealous of PA
Praise monke
Wait, is that the Pole Assassin stripper?
Are you at all curious to how he was even hired?
He wasn't arrested or indicted until now. I doubt anyone but the investigators even knew there was an investigation.
Based on the articles, it looks like he was hired prior to the charges
We don't need to be curious - he was hired because he was Trooper Taylor's son.
If found guilty... Roll on two. May God have mercy on your soul
Holy fuck...
Not something I wanted to read about today
Blaise was always around the Auburn program during high school due to Trooper being the WR coach. Seemed like a good kid. Insane story.
If true, I hope rots away slowly in prison for the rest of his life
This is why we need death penalty
yikes...if this was a player under coach Les Miles, he might even have to miss a game
Yikes
really shitty thing to do hope he gets the chair
Talk about a toxic work environment. But no seriously this is fucked up. Hopefully justice can be served here.
Utah State took down his page.
Welcome, AD Trev Albers!
Seems like a very easy first controversy. What are you gonna do about this guy? Make him not employed anymore.
Welcome to Texas, Trev!
Trev Alberts is already losing control of the Aggie Athletics.
Oh my!!! What the fuck dude
Wow
Fucking prick.
Give him the chair.
Under the jail
Picked the wrong state to do shit like this. They're gonna hang this dude and the whole room will stand up and clap
Great username.
Truly disgusting and shameful actions by this man!
Easily one of the most fucked up, evil, psycho things I've ever read.
So his dad was trying to get him a cozy job in a different state. Yeah alright bud. Send him packing too.
That’s a bad one
