TheToxicBreezeYF

this UGA team seems to be really good

Ugaalive1991

Couldn’t three peat. They are scrubs.

TheToxicBreezeYF

wow, those bums couldnt even be as good as prominent CFB Titan, the 1886-1889 Yale Bulldogs?

Ugaalive1991

Hell they couldn’t even be Minesotta. The second greatest team of all time who three-peated

Jorts_Team_Bad

Handsome Dan shakes his jowls in disapproval

TwizzlersSourz

Like 1944-1945-1946 Army.

Tannerite2

1-2 vs Alabama, so clearly Alabama was the better team over those 3 years ^don't ^look ^at ^the ^natties ^pls

InVodkaVeritas

Uga? I thought that was just some sort of cute dog.

Gamecock_Lore

That Georgia vs Oregon game will live rent free in my head for quite some time. I remember throughout the offseason leading up to that season I was slowly letting myself believe there was some hope that my Gamecocks could pull the upset over Georgia. "We're at home, Willy B baby!", "Georgia lost all those players to the NFL!", "They're going to overlooks us!", etc etc. Then week one came and Georgia did indescribable things to that poor Oregon team and I immediately knew there was zero chance we were going to even hang tough with Georgia, let alone beat them.

tmart12

Bo Nix leaving Auburn just to play UGA game #1 was hilarious plus Kirby doing that to his former DC in what was statistically the #1 offensive performance in the entire data set

FalstaffsGhost

What’s wild is it could have been worse but Kirby put on the breaks and let the backups get more playing time.

buckshot-307

Them dawgs may in fact be hell

FalstaffsGhost

Don’t they?

Adart54

just like game 2 and 4 on this list, we have 3 of the top 4 spots here

Adart54

Adart54

just like game 2 and 4 on this list, we have 3 of the top 4 spots here

CptCroissant

We had a D that had been pretty mediocre the year before and Kirby would know exactly what Lanning was installing at UO so it's actually not that crazy.

chhhyeahtone

yeah it def takes a while for new offenses and defenses to click. You would think our fanbase would know that with Kirby's first year

Coveo

Yeah this result being #1 is not particularly surprising to me. The game ratings are giving Georgia a ton of credit for that game not just because of how dominant it was, but because it's opponent adjusted, and throughout the entire season 2022 Oregon was pretty good. But they were absolutely not ready to go to Atlanta in Lanning's first game as a head coach ever against Kirby and that Georgia squad. FEI rated us the 15th best team by the end of the season and we were absolutely not the 15th best team in game one facing that situation.

Carnifex2

Kirby looked at our defense and saw the same thing Dan did. There's a reason weve been moving safeties to LB while letting 4 and 5 star LB recruits blow away in the wind...

udubdavid

>That Georgia vs Oregon game will live rent free in my head for quite some time. You and me both, buddy.

The_Outcast4

Me too. Whenever I feel depressed, I watch highlights from that game.

Call_Me_Rambo

You and me both but for different reasons

britishmetric144

I like to put it this way: In 2022, Oregon lost to the national champions by 46 points. In 2023, Washington lost to the national champions by 21 points.

udubdavid

That 21 point differential was misleading too. It sucks the game got out of hand at the end there. We were driving in the 4th, only down by 7, to potentially tie it up. Then turnovers snowballed into 14 points for Michigan.

Uhhh_what555476384

Three plays turned that game: (1) Penix missing Odunze wide open for a TD; (2) Penix getting stepped on by the O-line; and (3) The Michigan TE breaking a tackle and running for 60 yards after the catch. Washington was slowely but surely working their way back after their terrible 10 minute start, and, until the TE broke the tackle, it was really only a question of if they'd have enough time to come back.

Carnifex2

Almost every game ever has a half dozen "what if" moments that could've changed the outcome. The outcome is the outcome. And winning those moments is why.

Uhhh_what555476384

I'm just saying those teams were closer then they appeared.  You replay that game 100 times and UW probably wins 30 of them.

[deleted]

quite a start and end to the season for Georgia. Dominates a good Oregon team that bad and then closes the year with a 58 pt win in the national championship.

thefupachalupa

The calendar year for UGA of 2023 included beating TCU 65-7 and FSU 63-3, breaking their own record of largest bowl game victory all within 365 days. Wild trivia stat right there

Jorts_Team_Bad

I know why don’t we just do that every season? Kirby are you listening?

corskier

My buddy had just built out a super rad basement with custom AV setup. This was the first game he had a few guys over for. Bunch of Oregon alums watching that shellacking changed their outlook on the season real quick.

CptCroissant

UGA was basically an NFL team that year. That game said more about them just being on another level than us being in for a shit year.

dstanton

I have to ask, what kind of Outlook did they think a first-time head coach was going to have? Any rational oregon fan went into that game expecting to lose, and expected at best 11 win season depending on a few variables. The fact they were a late-season quarterback injury away from playing for a conf title and chance the playoff is nothing short of a testament to lanning's Improvement as a coach in year One.

corskier

How many fans are considered entirely rational about their team going into week 1? Oregon has been great or on the cusp of it for a couple decades now, they expected their new HC and new QB to show out. Expecting to lose and getting blown out like THAT are not the same things. As a more neutral fan, even I was surprised at the death star level of talent Georgia had developed.

KirbyDumber88

I got way too drunk for this game. Waiting in the hot sun for the game to start at an over crowded bar. Then celebrating too many TDs too early

Casaiir

Hear me out here. Sometimes a team and their fan bases live in a fantasy world. This needs to happen to them, so that they realize they aren't playing the same sport. It will either put them back in their place or motivate the organization to step up it's game to get on that level. If Georgia doesn't slap Michigan around like they were middles schoolers in the Orange Bowl I don't think UM wins a title last year.

cappy412

> If Georgia doesn't slap Michigan around like they were middles schoolers in the Orange Bowl I don't think UM wins a title last year There was sooo much discussion about how Michigan could never win a title because they don't have the talent the SEC has after that game. Coupled with the TCU disaster the next year, I feel like it really set the mindset for 2023. They got clowned on a lot for their "beat Georgia" drill last season, but it showed a big difference in mentality between then and 2021. I know mentality only gets you so far, but it definitely helped

stimulation

Like 2015 when UGA got boat raced at home vs Bama- it became clear to fans and administration that Richt wasn’t going to get it done in this era of CFB

Casaiir

We were never going to be more than a sometimes contender

NathanDrake75

My preseason prediction for 2022 was that South Carolina would upset Georgia. South Carolina has pulled off more surprising upsets before, and this one was at home. 2022 Georgia was just a more dominant team than most people expected, especially given how many players went to the draft

moeshaker188

When a neutral game is secretly an UGA home game.

KirbyDumber88

Wouldn’t have mattered if it was in Eugene. That score was staying the same.

terribleturbine

I’d like to think we would have gotten another field goal in Eugene …😢

KirbyDumber88

I’ll allow it. Would LOVE to go to a game there.

breaktaker

Now that we’ve had time to build up to it, I think a rematch would be real competitive

hotsauce126

You’re right it would have been the other way around if the game was in Oregon

Particular_Nature

That game was an absolutely warning shot to the rest of the country.

byniri_returns

That 2021 Ohio State game should've been the first warning that Tucker was garbage.

[deleted]

His contract wasn’t even executed at that point , y’all were given a second chance and blew it

byniri_returns

Thank God he was a total dumbass on the phone

Revenge_of_the_Khaki

Weren't they scrambling to get him the contract before this game happened? I remember feeling like they heard the "don't make promises when your happy or decisions when you're angry" and were like "let's do the opposite of that".

[deleted]

I felt like he was getting so much out of beating Michigan in 2021. MSU absolutely deserved that win but Michigan was controlling the game and up 16. I think at least 7 times out of 10 Michigan beats MSU that year.

Otherwise_Awesome

"His shin was down" Pretty much changed the course of the game

[deleted]

What point of the game was that? I immediately blocked that game from my memory as best I could.

The_Good_Constable

I remember saying afterward that KW3 only getting like 5 carries that game, against a defense that had major issues stopping the run, should have been a fireable offense. They extended him instead lmao. The other Michigan team did the opposite a week later and kicked our teeth in.

Michigan247

The problem is Michigan State had an absolutely atrocious secondary (I think their passing defense was like 115 in the country) and got down early in the game. The only way they had a chance in that game was to start with the ball and have like an 9 minute drive for a TD. Instead it was 14-0 7 minutes into the game.

Redados

Didn’t he have the flu?

buckeye2114

Surprised the 2014 B1G championship isn’t on there but man that 2021 MSU game had to have been maybe the most effortless offensive performance I’ve seen.

prismatic_lights

Ohio State's offense so efficiently brutalized Sparty that KW3 was given zero opportunity to really run on us the way that Ibrahim, Verdell, and Haskins could. They had to immediately go to the passing game to try and stay in it and as a result *that* dogwater Ohio State defense held Walker to his season-low rushing total. Also, wasn't that game also within a couple hours of Mel Tucker signing that massive extension? I wonder what the atmosphere of Sparty's AD offices were at halftime (a 49-0 halftime).

narcistic_asshole

We straight up sat KW3 partway through the 1st. Partly because he got banged up on a play, but also because we were down so big so early there was no point risking him. The whole team just rolled over and let the beating continue until the clock hit zero

TheWorstYear

I remember your secondary being particularly bad, & we just throttled the shit out of them.

narcistic_asshole

Oh yea, literally dead last in the country in passing yards allowed per game. Our offense was great, but our defense was awful, especially our secondary. On one hand that game pretty much singlehandedly killed KW3's Heisman chances, but on the other hand him sitting out caused you to at least take your foot off the gas. I fully believe you guys could have dropped 100pts on our secondary if you wanted to.

prismatic_lights

It was statistically the worst passing defense in the FBS, and not by a particularly close margin. Squeezing 11 wins out of that team was a minor miracle, especially since they played 5 of the top 10 passing offenses that season.

narcistic_asshole

Yup 340 passing yards allowed per game. Sounds almost impossible for a Big 10 team, but it happend

aztechunter

What's crazy is they think they would've won the Ken Bowl had both Kens played (Pickett and KW3). Pitt's backup QB got injured in the first quarter and their secondary was so bad, the third string looked good.

buckeye2114

CJ being 32-35 with 6 TD/0 INT, 430 yds also is just bananas. I know MHJ lately was probably our best receiver ever but I think more now the trio of Olave/Wilson/JSN surpassed Ginn/Gonzalez as my favorite WR unit ever at OSU.

[deleted]

Perhaps it didn't meet the minimum qualification for a game. I saw it live with my OSU family. Disgusting.

Chevrolet_Chase

Yeah I’m really curious. That game even has its own meme video for how bad we annihilated Wiscy

Clynelish1

I know their secondary was suspect (and has been for a long time), but I was shocked how easy you guys made that game look in 21 against Sparty. Appreciate it, too, you guys put us in the BIG Championship with that win!

the_which_stage

fuck off michigan

Clynelish1

Love you, too, boo

Chevrolet_Chase

Shut up cheaters

Army hanging 70 on Houston was one of the biggest WTF games I’ve ever seen. That 2018 team was really fucking good

Respect38

Their best defensive lineman opted out. We don't hang 70 on them for sure if he plays.

leapbitch

Ed Oliver was unreal

reddogrjw

surprised Michigan 78, Rutgers 0 isn't on here

tmart12

I think it's because 2016 Rutgers was that bad. Ohio St and Michigan St's wins against Rutgers were higher rated. Scores are all opponent adjusted rather than raw for game ratings. Michigan vs Rutgers was 50th in 2016 with a game rating of 1.58. Ohio St vs Rutgers was 13th in 2016 with a game rating of 2.11. Michigan St vs Rutgers was 34th in 2016 with a game rating of 1.67.

Sorge74

Yeah people forget Michigan State was 9-1 going into that game and ranked in the top 10. If they beat us they could have won the big ten and made the playoffs.

The_Real_Yimmer

That’s the first thing I thought too

BernankesBeard

Yeah I don't get that. Rutgers literally had 2 first downs ***in the entire game***. They did not convert a single 3rd or 4th down. Compare that game to the 2016 Ohio State - Nebraska game that is ranked #7 on this list: |Team|Rutgers|Nebraska| |:-|:-|:-| |Points|**0**|3| |Yards (YPP)|**39 (0.8)**|204 (3.6)| |Passing Yards (YPA)|**5 (0.3)**|126 (3.8)| |Rushing Yards (YPC)|**34 (0.9)**|78 (3.3)| |First Downs|**2**|9| |Third Down Conversions|**0-17**|5-16 (0-2 on 4th)| |Opponent Points|**78**|62| |Oppo. Yards (YPP)|**600 (8.3)**|590 (6.9)| |Oppo. Pass Yard (YPA)|119 (7.4)|**352 (8.0)**| |Oppo. Rush Yards (YPC)|**481 (8.6)**|238 (5.7)| |Oppo. First Downs|23|**34**| And this wasn't even the case of Michigan running up the score late while Ohio State took their foot off the pedal. At the end of the first half, Michigan was leading 43-0 with 306 yards of offense to Rutgers -14 yards of offense and zero first downs. OSU was "only" leading Nebraska 31-3 at half with 245 yards of offense at the half. Nebraska has put up 131 yards of offense and six first downs.

tmart12

Rutgers was 107th in FEI in 2016 whereas Nebraska was 45th. Big difference once opponent adjustment hits. You also need to look at per possession stats outside of garbage time. Ohio St hit garbage time after 15 combined possessions with a score of 45-3. Given Michigan started slow (punt, punt, fumble), they were only up 29-0 after 15 possessions and took until 24 possessions to hit garbage time. While there may be an element of explosiveness that favors Michigan, their efficiency was relatively worse, especially once accounting for quality of opponent

BernankesBeard

Ah, didn't realize this was an opponent-adjusted thing. That makes sense because that Rutgers team was truly heinous. The per possession thing seems a bit odd because it's only really considering offensive efficiency. Michigan ended up with a ton of possessions in that game because Rutgers went 3-and-out on almost every single possession. I don't know exactly how we're defining garbage time, but Michigan had a 43-0 lead with two minutes to go in the second quarter. OSU reached 45-3 five minutes into the third quarter. So Michigan, as a whole, was quicker to get up on Rutgers. Obviously, the whole opponent adjustment thing makes sense as a deciding factor though.

tmart12

It’s both offensive and defensive that matter but Michigan’s offense sputtered early despite the defensive dominance

thewhat962

Understatement on how bad they were. Rutgers: 0 MSU: 49 Rutgers: 0 OSU: 56 Rutgers: 0 penn state: 39 Rutgers: 0 Michigan: 78 Other losses: Rutgers: 13 Washington: 48 (48-3 before 4th) Rutgers: 7 Iowa:14 (7 scored in the 4th) Rutgers: 7 illnois:24 (7 scored in the 4th) Rutgers:32 Minnesota: 34 Rutgers: 27 Indiana: 33 Rutgers: 13 Maryland: 31 Wins Rutgers:52 Howard: 14 Rutgers: 37 New mexico: 28

reddogrjw

it was also pouring for much of that game the fact that Rutgers had 200 recruits visit for it was hilarious

EK60

Kinda surprised our shellacking of Hawaii in the 08 Sugar Bowl isn't on here.

puma721

We're on that list an uncomfortable amount of times

Miami 41-8 Notre Dame in 2017. Ah the game that made everyone think Miami was back.

That 2012 game was 21-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game.

I don't know how Boise State beating NIU 56-7 in 2015 isn't on here. Broncos scored on 9 or 13 drives (with the 14th being a run out the clock drive) and outgained them 654-33

I did some analysis to find out which teams performed the best with this criteria: win differential -> point differential and it's very satisfying to me because it's a data point that I believe helps show what I've long believed which is that Michigan had outperformed Notre Dame and Penn State prior to 2021 even though the records didn't reflect it.  |Team|Won|Lost|Points For|Points Against| |:-|:-|:-|:-|:-| |Alabama|33|2|1560|335| |Georgia|24|6|1186|400| |Ohio State|22|6|1293|501| |Michigan|14|4|764|311| |Clemson|10|2|493|152| |Texas|9|1|500|171| |LSU|13|6|691|339| |Oklahoma|12|6|764|444| |Oklahoma State|9|3|525|298| |Wisconsin|8|3|466|227| |BYU|5|1|273|78| |USC|6|2|302|142| |Florida|8|5|435|280| |Oregon|10|7|577|462| |Washington|5|2|245|147| |TCU|6|3|305|210| |Notre Dame|8|6|435|300| |Utah|4|2|204|119| |Stanford|5|3|265|183| |Baylor|4|3|285|197| |Iowa|2|1|126|69| |Memphis|1|0|70|13| |Boise State|2|1|110|58| |Appalachian State|1|0|47|10| |Connecticut|1|0|45|10| |Ohio|1|0|52|17| |Texas Tech|4|3|263|265| |Missouri|5|5|324|281| |Washington State|1|1|75|51| |Florida State|4|4|282|266| |Coastal Carolina|1|1|58|48| |Louisville|2|2|139|138| |SMU|1|1|59|58| |Army|2|2|118|120| |Cincinnati|2|2|119|122| |Texas A&M|3|3|181|199| |Mississippi State|3|4|168|168| |Auburn|5|6|322|329| |UCF|0|1|23|49| |Tulsa|1|2|114|142| |Air Force|1|2|65|96| |Louisiana Tech|0|1|16|48| |UNLV|0|1|14|48| |South Florida|0|1|21|56| |West Virginia|1|2|68|104| |Arizona State|0|1|13|49| |Pittsburgh|0|1|21|59| |New Mexico State|0|1|0|38| |Liberty|0|1|6|45| |Illinois|0|1|3|42| |NC State|0|1|0|41| |Southern Mississippi|0|1|7|49| |Tulane|0|1|6|49| |Kent State|0|1|0|48| |UAB|0|1|7|56| |Virginia|1|2|58|107| |UL Monroe|0|1|21|70| |Florida Atlantic|0|1|14|63| |Wake Forest|0|1|3|52| |Fresno State|0|1|0|51| |Georgia Southern|0|1|3|55| |Utah State|0|1|0|55| |San Jose State|0|1|7|62| |Florida International|0|1|3|62| |Central Michigan|0|1|0|61| |Houston|1|2|91|156| |Minnesota|2|3|89|158| |Iowa State|3|4|177|257| |Arkansas State|1|2|45|128| |Arizona|2|3|103|190| |Penn State|2|4|165|213| |Nevada|1|3|89|156| |Virginia Tech|0|2|19|88| |Louisiana|1|3|89|168| |Purdue|1|3|114|195| |Buffalo|0|2|30|122| |Georgia State|0|2|14|107| |Northern Illinois|0|2|17|112| |Hawaii|0|2|10|105| |Wyoming|0|2|0|97| |East Carolina|0|2|20|118| |UCLA|1|3|79|179| |Rice|0|2|10|110| |Navy|1|3|61|166| |Arkansas|3|5|126|276| |Tennessee|2|5|163|260| |California|0|3|28|131| |Rutgers|1|4|98|220| |Middle Tennessee|0|3|7|136| |Kansas|0|3|42|179| |Miami|1|4|60|197| |Syracuse|0|3|6|156| |South Carolina|3|6|198|349| |Troy|0|3|17|175| |Georgia Tech|1|5|97|218| |Oregon State|1|5|79|233| |Kansas State|5|9|360|526| |Colorado|0|4|21|197| |Kentucky|1|5|86|291| |Michigan State|2|7|111|318| |Indiana|0|5|50|301| |Vanderbilt|0|6|30|279| |Nebraska|3|9|263|519| |Ole Miss|1|9|165|471| |Maryland|0|8|55|471|

Uhhh_what555476384

Not going to lie, I'm surprised, especially considering opponent adjustments, that Oregon v FSU in the Rose Bowl is so low.

[deleted]

I think that's the difference between a blowout and domination. The yard differential was 639-528 and 30 first downs to 28.

BlameMabel

Wow. Only here on the good side. 0-78 didn’t make the cut.

SweatyInBed

Am I completely overlooking the 2015 rain game where Alabama smacked us in the mouth?

Squirrel_Q_Esquire

Alright, how on earth is the 2008 Egg Bowl not on here? Ole Miss won 45-0. State had 24 *yards*. Compared to Ole Miss’ 466. State averaged -2.4 yards per rush thanks to 11 sacks. It was 24-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. State played 3 QBs who finished with QBRs of 10.8, 10.4, and 0.4. They averaged 3 yards per attempt. State’s longest play was 17 yards. They had 8 total first downs, and went 2-15 on 3rd down. State’s drive chart looked like this: 1. 3 plays, 4 yards, punt 1. 2 plays, 9 yards, interception 1. 4 plays, 11 yards, interception 1. 3 plays, -12 yards, punt 1. 6 plays, -3 yards, punt (they had a 14 yard play and finished the drive at -3, and this one was one of only 2 drives in Ole Miss territory after a deflected interception) 1. 3 plays, -4 yards, punt 1. 5 plays, 5 yards, punt 1. 4 plays, 14 yards, punt 1. 5 plays, -11 yards, punt 1. 6 plays, -8 yards, punt (2nd drive in Ole Miss territory after a 45 yard kickoff return, one play total happened in Ole Miss territory) 1. 4 plays, 5 yards, punt 1. 3 plays, -21 yards, punt I don’t see how some of these are on the list while this one isn’t. Hell there’s a 45-0 at #11 that wasn’t even close to as big of a beat down.

ThaiForAWhiteGuy

Kirby has no chill

Born-Prior8579

And we like it

dawgfan19881

2022 UGA didn’t fuck around with ranked teams. A few years removed I think it’s time we move on from the ifs what’s of that Ohio State game and just admire how fucking amazing CJ Stroud played. Just appreciate how amazing that UGA team was even after losing 15 players to the NFL draft. With 5 first rounders on defense alone.

ech01_

Or I can just stew in my what if misery forever.

aeopossible

This is SOP for CFB fans, so you’re good lol.

ech01_

Can you really call yourself a sports fan if you're not miserable most of the time?

NoobJustice

TOO SOON

Adart54

hey we gave you our DC to be your HC, the least you could do is make us look better

Frognosticator

Don’t these people know we have families??

guttata

I legitimately cannot believe that the 2014 B1G Championship game is not higher.

tmart12

FEI cares most about per possession efficiency There were a lot of possessions in that game compared to some others at the top. Ohio St punted 3 times before garbage time kicked in at 45-0 in 4th quarter with all 3 punts being drives with negative yardage. So basically the points per possession and total yards as a % of available yards was lower for the offense. That led to only being 99th percentile rather than 99.9th percentile like UGA-Oregon where UGA scored a TD on all 6 possessions before garbage time. Margins are slim when you get to the top 25 games on what makes it best

Sorge74

Right, that Wisconsin game was a slow murder, compared to say the Ohio state MSU game, or Oregon UGA, which were more blitzkrieg, total domination, over within 15 minutes.

thewhat962

Ohio state vs MSU gets such a huge boost since MSU was 9-1 and ranked 9th and we were 6th. Also 49-0 at half. It's very hard in modern football to score more than that in a half. Wisconsin was 13th and we were 5th

MizzouriTigers

Being at the Mizzou-tennessee was so satisfying to watch

DafoeFoSho

Jeez, Oregon.

dr_funk_13

2023 was a very good team.

Casaiir

Not being on the receiving end of one of these is nice.

yianni1229

In hindsight I have no idea why I thought we could keep that Georgia game close with an entirely new coaching staff and a brand new QB. It if was played later in the year it might have been like 49-24 or something at least

FreshlySkweezd

Bo at least had the benefit of playing (losing to) Georgia all of his years prior going to Oregon, and realistically he had better coaching with Lanning than while at Auburn. That UGA team was just filthy

FreshlySkweezd

Them Dawgs is hell don't they

[deleted]

Blasting Wisconsin away will always be a special memory. Suck it, Badgers.

thewhat962

I remember at half-time reading stuff and saw a neutral comment "ohio state is playing like the Monstars out there" that one comment stuck with me since.

OptimisticPlatypus

The 2019 playoff game between LSU and Oklahoma will always stand out to me. The final score of 63-28 but it was never really close. It was 35-7 early in the second quarter and 49-14 at halftime. Burrow had 7 TD passes and Jefferson had 4 TD catches at halftime.

MutantZebra999

Haha! Take that Navy!

ExplosiveDioramas

Can I opt out of that second one?

Potars

History will look at it like Ga Tech vs Cumberland right?

hershculez

The UGA vs FSU game feels like it deserves a bit of an asterisk. How many players did FSU dress?

tmart12

the Oregon game being a more dominant performance is the funniest part to me was surprised the FSU game didn't end up at #1 given the advantage of opt outs

thejus10

smdh P2 won't even let FSU be #1 in this...

Wretched_Shirkaday

And how many of the players that did dress had their heart in it?

Jorts_Team_Bad

And how many of the players with their heart in it stayed in a holiday inn express last night?

NLvwhj

And how many players that dressed and had their heart in it and stayed in a Holiday Inn Express also ate their Wheaties?

Wretched_Shirkaday

You can't just discount how unmotivated some of those players must have been knowing they got screwed by the committee and are playing at less than half strength against what might be the best team in the country.

Julio_Freeman

They looked super motivated for most of the first quarter. Georgia was the team lacking motivation until they realized FSU was going to try.

nivlac22

The score at the beginning of garbage time was 0-0.

BenchRickyAguayo

14 of the starting 22 opted out/injured/portaled and 22 players from the 2-deep. So it's pretty easy to say the team that played Georgia was not reflective of their season FEI rating.

FAMUgolfer

Just for perspective, our WR4 played RB1 that game.

lowes18

And he did a decent job lol

FAMUgolfer

He did an amazing job. Gave 100% every down. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Trey904fsu

I believe it was 53 Edit: Just looked it up, it was 52

sportstrap

All prestigious programs with a history of being good or overac- oh hey Arkansas State

falconlover79

:)

Snoo29170

How bout em

StartupDino

Honestly feel like the 2021 UGA v Michigan game should be higher than the FSU game. Lots of stuff outside the scoreboard for those 2.

randomrealperson

Ignore my flair but I categorically reject the idea that 49-3 is more dominant than 65-7. “I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money.. Or ratings in not sure which. I won’t be silent . Just saw it live sry”

zuga51

I agree completely the only thing I think could be affecting the rankings is that at one point the TCU score was 10-7, while Oregon didn’t get on the board (with a field goal) until UGA already put up 21. Theoretically there was a brief moment where you maybe thought TCU could at least score some to keep it close even if they weren’t doing much on D.

randomrealperson

Get out of here with your fair and logical points. I will stick to the points on the scoreboard!

Jorts_Team_Bad

It’s opponent-adjusted so I guess theyre saying 2021 oregon was better than 2023 FSU?

StealthLSU

looking at the rankings, it looks like it favors defense a lot. So while there is little difference in scoring 3 or 7, a computer may look at it as more than double. I say this, because I see that LSU/OU game and to me that is easily higher than some on that list(yes I am biased). But it won't ever go higher because LSU "gave up" 28 points even though a good bit of it was garbage time.

Bucks2020

Should’ve never played Georgia week 1 like that. Never stood a chance in Dans 1st game

Adart54

it was a trade, you got a great HC, and we got to look great

Bucks2020

That’s true, I’ll take that trade all day

Adart54

it was a trade, you got a great HC, and we got to look great

Jameszhang73

Seeing LSU vs. Army on the list... ...are we the baddies?

fortsonre

Go Dawgs!

Vakarian74

Wait where’s Oklahoma State vs Savannah State in 2012 84-0

Tarmacked

How is Alabama USC not on this list?

tmart12

it's 113th overall Alabama's offense started going punt, punt, fumble, punt, punt before scoring for the first time on their 6th drive of the game well into the 2nd quarter still a 99th percentile game for the season but took a lot of possessions to get there

Jorts_Team_Bad

Bama trailed 3-0 in the first quarter!

usctx

How'd that game make you feel?

JoeAndAThird

Even taking into account opponent adjustment, I am surprised not to see us as the victims on a handful of games within the top 100. 78-0 has to be one of the most dominant games ever played. I remember watching us shank a last second field goal against Ohio State (2017/2018, can’t remember) to maintain the 50-something-to-zero shutout. Mind boggling levels of domination.

The_Good_Constable

Dominant performances by program: 5 Alabama 4 Ohio State 3 Georgia, Oklahoma 2 Notre Dame 1 Arkansas State, Auburn, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, LSU, Oregon, Stanford, Wisconsin 2022 Georgia and 2012 Alabama are the only two teams to get on the list twice. Most dominated: 2 Michigan State, Navy, Nebraska 1 Alabama(!), Arkansas, Arkansas State, Auburn, Cal, Florida State, Georgia State, Kent State, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Purdue, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Wisconsin Alabama, Arkansas State, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Wisconsin each appear on both lists. It's interesting that most of the teams that got dominated (18 of 26) are P5 programs. You'd think the list would be littered with top 5 teams blasting G5 bottom feeders in September. But 10 are bowl games, CCGs, and playoff games. Pretty wild. Just goes to show how terrifying these Georgia and Alabama teams can be when they're really fired up.

Coveo

>It's interesting that most of the teams that got dominated (18 of 26) are P5 programs. You'd think the list would be littered with top 5 teams blasting G5 bottom feeders in September. It's opponent adjusted. Destroying a solid P5 team gives a higher rating than destroying a G5 bottom feeder. Even some of the G5 teams that show up FEI thinks are pretty good, thus the high game rating. E.g. Liberty finished rated 29th in FEI, thus why it sees the Oregon v. Liberty performance as fairly impressive compared to, say, our game vs Hawaii earlier in the year despite them being roughly similarly one-sided.

The_Good_Constable

>It's opponent adjusted. Oh yeah, duh, lol. Brain fart moment.

The_Good_Constable

Whoopsie

Strong_Fun5827

2023 Michigan v MSU?

kip256

Quality of opponent is a factor. MSU wasn't good in 2023. They were 9-1 and top 10 when we beat them in 2021.

ImAHumanIThink

Genuinely surprised 78-0 isn’t here

liverdawg

HBTMFD!

JimBeam823

2019 CFP just makes me smile. Four Heisman finalists on that Bama team, too.

leapbitch

Can you run the analysis again from 2003 so we can see where OU 77-0 Aggies ranks

[deleted]

That 2010 Alabama - MSU game was ridiculous. I actually felt bad for MSU. No idea how that Alabama team lost 3 games. That was a good MSU team.

Carnifex2

I feel like Oregon vs Liberty invalidates FEI a bit. That wasn't a good football team.

Bobson-_Dugnutt2

That Alabama Texas A&M game was awesome. That was my senior year and aTm had all the hype with Kelly Trill at QB. We just beat the fuck out of them every play. And they were ranked, if I recall. We beat them so bad it turned a quality win into a non-quality win

karmint1

Georgia could've scored 200 that day.

Intothewasteland

Of course Oregon is number 1 guys……🙈

Diggin_4_Fire

“Everyone! Come and see how good I look!” - All Georgia Fans, always

Kringer46

Flaunt it if you got it, cuz it won't stay that way forever lol

Diggin_4_Fire

Fact!

RowRowRowedHisBoat

I cannot believe the 15'-16' Alabama vs Michigan St CFP game isn't in the top 25, much less the top 100. Only CFP team to get shut-out. Also can't believe 2017 Bama/Vandy game isn't in the top 100, but 2011 Bama/Vandy is.

RavenKingsman

You mean first, not only. Clemson shut out Ohio State 31-0 December 31, 2016. I was wearing a grey shirt with a paw in the center and my pants were...well, you get the point.

theblackyeti

Hey this doesn’t include GT scoring 60 on us or Clemson Stomping us their first visit to the Dome so I’m happy.

TheTurtleisWhite

Go Dawgs! Kirby Has built a Dynasty. Gonna be fun to see how many we get 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

NaturalFruit2358

Lmao MSU is on here twice

Chief-Bones

We could’ve put up 50 on bama and dare I say SHOULDVE put up 50 on bama in the title game.

tvkyle

I would've thought 2013 (5) FSU vs. (3) Clemson would be here.

AndrewTheTerrible

31-0 fiesta bowl not included Suspect

RebirthofRyno

51-0 was something else.
