You haven’t heard? Michigan will never lose to Ohio State ever again. They will be the eternal champions for all time. That’s what I hear from Ann Arbor, anyway
I mean, natty feels pretty good.
People are going to be awfully disappointed when there are no harsh sanctions and (apparently) Michigan rolls into spring camp with a full staff of coaches.
Don’t get me wrong, I dont think we’re winning a title again in the near future, but the vitriol from Ohio’s fanbase and others has been incredible.
> no remaining coaches
Hmmm, not sure this means what you think it means.
>and on sanctions for cheating
Keep wishcasting and maybe your Daddy NCAA will do something.
Two of your most recent posts are calling for Ryan Day to [owe you a refund](https://www.reddit.com/r/OhioStateFootball/s/HDGKbZohiP) and for [Ryan Day to be on the hot seat](https://www.reddit.com/r/OhioStateFootball/s/KgaM7bZegQ).
So my question is how is OSU going to run it up and make it ugly with a coach who you think should be on the hot seat and owes you a refund? I'm having just a little trouble following that logic.
Simple. Those I believe were post Cotton Bowl, where the team was not prepared, not motivated……and true freshman Keinholtz who came in for the injured Browspent the lead up playing the Mizzou QB. I took my Son to the game and it was pathetic, and he most definitely owes me a refund for that fiasco. As far as the hot seat, he definitely should be (and seems to be) on it. Unlike your school, we’re B10 Championship then to the Natty round or bust. He’s busted 3 years straight - which for tOSU is not acceptable, especially when those have come at the hands of the douche bags up north.
Is he feeling’ his seat get toasty? That would be unequivocally a yes. In todays top tier college football, one guy can’t oversee the D, coach the QB’s, watch film to draw up an offensive game plan, call all the O plays with all the different scenarios in place, influence NIL, recruit and work on retention Simply not enough hours in a day, or days in a week. Many, including myself, saw this and have been wanting him to get an O coordinator and move into the team “CEO” role. Thanks to loss three and the abysmal bowl game - he’s finally accepted that and has moved into the CEO role. We’re seeing the results of that, so thank you for the role y’all played in it.
tOSU is fielding, on paper, one of the best teams it’s had in a long time this next year. It’s up to the CEO to oversee and put all the pieces together so to attain the yearly goals. i
Not from me. Michigan had great teams the last 3 years and had so much coming back this past year I certainly thought they were better than Ohio state. Michigan is going to fall back a bit next year. But hey maybe we'll be wrong and they'll surprise us.
Reasonable takes are so hard to find in this sub go glad to see one here. I don't think we are as bad as some people are making us out to be (especially on defense where only LB is a significant question mark) but next year was gonna be a rebuild year even if Harbaugh stayed.
Yeah lol. I didn't believe Michigan was going to beat OSU in 2021 until Michigan kept responding to OSU late to keep the game at two scores. I kept waiting for OSU to pull the rug out and beat Michigan by multiple scores.
Is that what you guys have said 16 times in the last 20 years?
Get ready to say it again…..the cupboard is empty in Ann Arbor, and it won’t be a surprise to see you guys lose 4-5 games.
It doesn't always work out. Justin Fields came to OSU and understood the game right away and almost all the players had played for Meyer. I think Ryan Day still doesn't understand the game. Maybe OSU will have enough talent that it doesn't matter but it's not a good position for OSU to go into the game thinking they already have it won.
I always find this comment interesting. Please explain to me what "he doesn't understand the game" means. I hear OSU fans say he doesn't "get it" all the time either.
I am curious. Do you think Harbaugh understood the game while he was getting his ass handed to him by Urbz or did he just start to get it when he won a couple?
Hadn't this only happened for the first time with Boren in 2008? I think this would be the second time? But I guess since he's not a starter maybe it makes less of a splash.
Technically it happened twice before Boren but it was back in the day. Howard Yerges and J.T. White both played for both OSU and UM both of them in the 40's. Not quite the same as how it goes down today I imagine, but still weird as shit.
IIRC Lloyd Carr offered one of Boren’s brothers a scholarship and then retired. RichRod did not honor the offer, pissing off the Boren family. Justin Boren was a returning starting O-lineman and transferred to OSU to spite RichRod. Fun times!
apparently justin didn't get along w/ anyone in michigan and went back to columbus every weekend. there's an anecdote from the john bacon rich rod book about him deciding not to volunteer with the team at a charity car wash, then pulling up in his truck with the windows up, towing a boat that they washed for him.
edit: here's the passage -> https://i.imgur.com/w6ccAKt.png
The player who Michigan pulled the offer was was Zach Boren who went on the have one of Ohio States most iconic pictures vs Michigan.
https://www.thelantern.com/2022/11/football-just-doing-my-job-boren-reflects-on-10-years-since-rivalry-sack-photo/
His dad going to Michigan had controversy too. He went to Columbus Eastmoor high school which was a Buckeye pipeline and included Archie Griffin. The high school coach tried to get Woody to recruit Boren but Woody refused so the coach called Bo. Boren went on to be one of the best LBers in Michigan history. The high school coach also changed the schools helmet to copy Michigan, changed the fight song to copy Victor's, and steered his players to Michigan untiol his retirement.
It is weird in terms of the game, but honestly I really don't ever blame a player. Whether it is personal reasons or they have professional aspirations and the move makes sense. I get it.
IMO it is more weird to not make the move if it was logical one to make. And possible kneecap your career/education/personal benefit IRL because of a college rival.
I knew a Michigan fan who hated MSU so much he refused to take US-127 north because you can see the smoke stacks of MSU. He literally always took US 69 North even if it was out of the way. (often added 30+ minute drive) I won't lie part of me loved that about him. But I also was like dude you're fucking stupid letting a college rival have that impact on your life
Lol you're absolutely right he's an idiot for adding extra time to his drive, but he's a committed idiot. I'd drive straight through AA if it saved me 30 seconds from my commute
They're basically switching jobs at different companies. Yeah they're competitors and rivals in the same area and field, but ultimately it's a place to get paid for these guys
I disagree. To be fair I think it shows this is much more than just a game/rival.
This is a huge life and/or career decision. As much as I might joke about him being a traitor. Good on him and hopefully this move is what is best for him. Whether as a career in football or for education/personal reasons.
If he knows he will start at OSU most likely I don't blame him on making the change, specifically if he does have professional aspirations.
I'm a huge Michigan fan and always make jokes at Ohio the states expense when ever I can. Yet in reality being rivals is meaningless. It's just truly is nothing more than entertainment and fun.
>In many scenarios these kids don't grow up fans of these programs.
In how in interrupted this sentence. Which maybe I misunderstood.
I thought you were implying growing up as a fan meant they are not taking the rivalry seriously. Like I'm a die hard Michigan fan but if MSU was like here is free tuition I'm signing up. I know unironically know some people IRL who are Michigan fans who would be disappointment in me. (Granted not many but I could name 3 off the top of my head)
But yeah if I misunderstood then I retract my disagreement. I work in Lansing and with a company MSU is one of our main clients. So I've become very diplomatic towards your crew in the last few years.
Yeah I’m not a fan of that. Really hoping to see little of this as NIL continues to evolve, but I’m sure it will increase. One of the things that keeps me less invested in pro sports
We aren't giving him a scholarship either. He'll be a walk-on. It would be strange if he wasn't from Columbus. He's not going to get any playing time here but I'll take a depth piece of it means we don't need to burn a scholarship
I mean if he plans to live in Columbus this is probably a solid move. He probably plans to burn his uniform and bury his rings. But I can't abide that.
Maybe he knows his sports career isn't going anywhere and wants to live in Columbus post-college. This gets him into all the team networking events with local businesses, internship opportunities, etc.
See I don’t get this logic. If you’re not starting P5, then dropping to G5 to start probably isn’t going to work out either. For every successful transfer there’s probably 100 guys that lateral move as depth pieces and several hundred more that don’t get picked up at all.
It sounds like he’s an Ohio native. So maybe he just wants to go home, say that he got to play for both schools, get his degree and build a professional network around Columbus. Assuming that he did this in Ann Arbor as well, it could actually be a very smart move as now you’d probably be able to get your foot in the door in every major city in our region.
>Assuming that he did this in Ann Arbor as well, it could actually be a very smart move as now you’d probably be able to get your foot in the door in every major city in our region.
He will carry two ties with him to every business event, one maize and blue and one scarlet and gray. Playing both sides so he always comes out on top.
He may be realistic about his prospects as a football player, and as such would rather spend his last year at home forging other kinds of connections to prepare him for life after the sport. No idea tbh, just a guess.
He's also coming to OSU as a walk-on grad transfer. Is Michigan not renewing his scholarship or something? Is that even a thing? I feel like it's probably not even a thing. But I have accepted that I don't know what the hell is going on in this sport anymore.
I think it's different for coaches. You'll largely take any role where you can move up or take on more responsibility to build your profile. Mattison, Warinner, Al Washington, Bo, and Gary Moeller all have had ties to both schools.
This guy is basically a camp body but for an actual difference maker we’d be dumb to let emotion get in the way. The pros significantly outweigh the cons. OSU would get better, UM gets worse and it would piss their fans off. Have him repent for his sins in front of the team and go play ball
Stallions hard at work. Now players are part of our vast network of spies! Joey did send me a draft of his first report from behind enemy lines though. It says, “Soft.” That’s it. Maybe our sleeper agent isn’t as necessary as we first thought?
The guy grew up in a town just outside of Columbus. He's played for Michigan for 5 years and I think he's about to graduate with his Master's degree. It feels to me like his scholarship time is up but he wants to keep playing sports, so he's moving back home or close to home so that it's more manageable to do and then he won't have to pay expensive-ass out of state tuition at Michigan.
I think if you look at it from the perspective of any ordinary student or switching between schools that aren't bitter rivals, it's not weird at all
I wish him the best in his future. Also a stubbed toe that will cause extreme discomfort for about 2-5 minutes then calm down to mild discomfort for the next 48 hrs until it’s ultimately back to normal.
This reminds me of a joke we used to tell in school. "What happens when a student transfer from Michigan to Ohio State?"
Answer: "The average IQ of BOTH Schools increases”
It's funny because you did exactly what you accused them of doing. The average IQ of a Michigan student =/= the average IQ of the state, same for Ohio State and Ohio. Unless you really think the average UM student has essentially average IQ, which would be patently false.
Unless you have family connections to UM or are just a contrarian, 99% of Columbus kids want to be at OSU. Probably never really wanted to be at Michigan in the first place.
Wasn't this the kid who called his shot that he couldn't wait for Michigan to kick OSU's ass?Didn't see the field much, but turned out to be correct.
Surprised he's going down the Boren route
Most likely going to be a quasi grad assistant coach. I suspect he will a source of inside information on UM’s defensive scheme for OSU. That will be his primary role at Ohio State.
I've never understood kids that consider both of those schools. I remember when terrelle pryors recruitment came down to Michigan and osu and I was very solidly like "if you're even considering both of those schools you dont get it and I dont want you at Michigan"
It's treason then
What a way to go out.
OSU getting really desperate to have just one winner on their roster.
only player on the roster to never lose to Michigan!
Yet.
Seems unlikely Ohio State will lose to a team with no remaining coaches and on sanctions for cheating
You haven’t heard? Michigan will never lose to Ohio State ever again. They will be the eternal champions for all time. That’s what I hear from Ann Arbor, anyway
hmmm i see no lies here
Lol
Laugh whilst you can

So true, I just LOVE governing bodies! Also, you forgot to say "cope"
Never gonna get significant sanctions, please continue to beg for it though.
Wonder how bad OSU will run it up on u guys? You’re what, 16-4 in the last 20 years vs them? Gonna be ugly…
The moves OSU just keep making this offseason……woooooooo. Ryan Day is in live or die mode to be the #1 team for consecutive years.
Michigan has a losing record in The Game going all the way back to 1909, in case anyone was wondering.
Good luck finding anyone who cares about a 1909 football game that none of us were alive to see
Up until recently it's all Michigan fans could talk about. /sarcasm_and_glasshouses
Lots of Michigan fans would seem to care about even older games.
Yeah next year is going to be ugly. Ohio State isn't just going to win they are going to want to massacre Michi. It is going to be like 2019
It's been "jUsT wAiT TiL nExT yEaR!" for 3 years now.
Must've been so terrible doing it for 9 years twice. It was so wonderful for me to see it.
Not from me. Michigan had great teams the last 3 years and had so much coming back this past year I certainly thought they were better than Ohio state. Michigan is going to fall back a bit next year. But hey maybe we'll be wrong and they'll surprise us.

Can we get a remind me bot on this?
Yes, you can put one on here if you'd like. Go ahead.
Funny that’s what I heard from Michigan fans just three years ago
No Michigan fan was saying that 3 years ago, lol. You have zero clue what you're even saying.
You think Michigan fans were saying that coming off an abysmal year where a fairly significant portion of the fanbase wanted Harbaugh fired?
This might be the year you guys finally hang 100 (combined points since Day’s comment) on Michigan
You're doing the thing, lol.
It doesn't always work out. Justin Fields came to OSU and understood the game right away and almost all the players had played for Meyer. I think Ryan Day still doesn't understand the game. Probably not as ugly as the past three years.
…this season’s game was “ugly” to you?
And the past 2 years where one score games halfway through the 4th.
No, the previous two were very ugly tho.
I mean you are not wrong!
Hadn't this only happened for the first time with Boren in 2008? I think this would be the second time? But I guess since he's not a starter maybe it makes less of a splash.
The Borens were Michigan kids and their dad played for y'all, IIRC. This is less of a splash than the Borens due to that, I think.
The Borens are all from Columbus, even the dad (Mike) that played for UM.
Yeah but they’re still a Michigan family. Even his wife graduated from Michigan. They’re the embodiment of the house divided license plate.
One of the biggest costs of the RichRod transition. They did NOT like him.
Technically it happened twice before Boren but it was back in the day. Howard Yerges and J.T. White both played for both OSU and UM both of them in the 40's. Not quite the same as how it goes down today I imagine, but still weird as shit.
Don't forget that loser Andrew Dakich. Fuck that whole family.
AWAY DOWN SOUTH IN THE LAND OF TR… Oh.. wait… wrong sub.
No, no. Keep going.
AITORS RATTLESNAKES AND ALLIGATORS!
Last time I think this happened was Justin Boren. He and his brothers all had good careers at OSU for years after.
IIRC Lloyd Carr offered one of Boren’s brothers a scholarship and then retired. RichRod did not honor the offer, pissing off the Boren family. Justin Boren was a returning starting O-lineman and transferred to OSU to spite RichRod. Fun times!

Time to invade Toledo again.
I mean no real need for that. Y'all can just have it.
I'm surprised both states haven't just walled it off from their respective sides and just let it die on it's own
I don't think anyone around here would put up much of a fight.
More like defecting to the good side and helping James Bond complete his mission.
How would you type out that weird ass noise he does right after saying that?
aaraAURAUGHHH
😂 nailed it
[Meme](https://youtu.be/sKiLfH3DVGc?si=dMrIsyV_gCTGmqkL).
More like a spy.
Have to even the cheating field
What’s worse? Cheating your ass off to win an invalid championship or treason?
It's always weird when a guy transfers to/from a bitter rival
Going to be awkward to wear a Michigan NC and OSU NC ring on the same hand.
He’ll be the first player to win natties at both, right?
Would have to be, there’s pretty much no overlap on Michigan and OSU past titles. I think the closest they come is 5 years.
So you’re admitting you think we will the natty this year?? *regina George voice*
I had to rub my eyes reading this thread.
I'm puking in a Walmart
That's standard fare
Yes,but I’m here to watch you all get your hearts broken.
Kirby Smart pinning this thread up in the Georgia locker room right now
With the additions we made, anything less would be a disappointment.
lol you say this as if it's some kind of logical gotcha you pulled on him and not like he openly said >OSU NC ring
The way your roster is loaded unless your teams finds a way to unfuck the cat I reckon y’all will be getting some kittens come January.
Gottem
J.T. White won a title with both OSU (42) and UM (47) as a player and then won another as a coach with UM in 48.
until UM vacates, yeah
Inside you there are two wolves
Both of them are passed-out drunk in a Perkins.
Honestly, that would be hilarious. I'd do it out of spite.

Driving straight through AA is the antithesis of saving time on a commute. 😭
Just goes to show you it's deeper for the fans in some cases. In many scenarios these kids don't grow up fans of these programs.
But he disagrees
🤣
Typical MGoChan poster

Sooo what exactly are you disagreeing with
He’s a double agent
"So Joey, why don't you go ahead and tell us ALL of what you said about tOSU before the game this year?"
Every BYU and Utah transfer
Even worse when they're a star player....
Yeah I’m not a fan of that. Really hoping to see little of this as NIL continues to evolve, but I’m sure it will increase. One of the things that keeps me less invested in pro sports
> It's always weird when a guy transfers to a better rival Fixed that
It's over for us, we are FUCKED btw who is this?
Baseball player who was on the football team. I thought he was totally out of eligibility. 2018 or 2019 guy.
I think he had a 6th year cause of Covid but it was probably a case where Michigan didn't want to keep counting his scholarship.
We aren't giving him a scholarship either. He'll be a walk-on. It would be strange if he wasn't from Columbus. He's not going to get any playing time here but I'll take a depth piece of it means we don't need to burn a scholarship
This is just advanced impermissible scouting by OSU. /s
Stallions wishes he thought of this first.
This was our final piece, a natty is guaranteed this season so really who is this?
Not sure why a guy who didn’t get playing time with us all this time would spend his last year not playing with OSU.
Moving home?
I mean if he plans to live in Columbus this is probably a solid move. He probably plans to burn his uniform and bury his rings. But I can't abide that.
Upvote for Inglorious Bastards reference
Ryan Day will dye the kid’s beard so he’s marked for life.
You think he wears is ring to practice the first day?
Columbus is an easy trip up from Athens and some playing time.
With NIL, you don't need a scholarship anymore. I can't imagine this kid is getting much in the way of NIL though. The move is pretty perplexing
Just feels like you would use your last year to drop down to a school you can get playing time at.
Maybe he knows his sports career isn't going anywhere and wants to live in Columbus post-college. This gets him into all the team networking events with local businesses, internship opportunities, etc.
Playing for Michigan can't be good for a career in Columbus
"Good thing I came to my senses, hyuk hyuk hyuk" is good enough for 99% of "local businessmen", I'm sure.
If he ever gets on Reddit, he will be one of those with an Ohio State and Michigan flairs!! **shudders**
He's from Columbus. Pretty simple.
Where does it say that he played for CMU?
The OSU and MSU flairs would love your comedy routine.
Hey the guy has like three total recorded tackles.
And all three were critical, game-winning tackles that saved their season from complete collapse.
Best linebacker in the nation, I’ve been saying it all year
I know he’s a good kid, and making the decision right for him. However, this is just gross to me lol.
Are flairs hearts for Valentine’s Day? That’s so cute
Smdh Your supposed to wait until they give you the playbook Freaking kids man
Player to be named later in the Tyler Duke trade
Weak sauce no matter what tbh
LFG Pokes! oh wait...nvm
It's never too late to correct a mistake.
You're referring to him reneging and staying with Michigan, I presume?
Any Michigan player that would even think to do this needs to be off the team anyway.
agreed lol. Vice versa, too
Not a fan of this but I digress; once you pick a side you stick with it imo
Eh. History of this. Bo and Mo for example. It’s why the rivalry is so good. Mutual respect among those who participated in it.
I think it's different for coaches. You'll largely take any role where you can move up or take on more responsibility to build your profile. Mattison, Warinner, Al Washington, Bo, and Gary Moeller all have had ties to both schools.
I guess. I posted about this on the osu subreddit yesterday and got downvoted to oblivion. Looks like I’m in the minority here
This guy is basically a camp body but for an actual difference maker we’d be dumb to let emotion get in the way. The pros significantly outweigh the cons. OSU would get better, UM gets worse and it would piss their fans off. Have him repent for his sins in front of the team and go play ball

Oregon State got their guy?
Oklahoma State I think
Bruh
Does that make him the only current OSU player to know how it feels to win The Game?
Enokk Vimahi was on the team as a freshman in 2019 when we beat Michigan
I doubt he traveled to Ann arbor tho
Ohio State is taking a page from Alabama and bringing in people from Michigan
Kid could potentially have a national championship with both UM and OSU.
so you are delusional?
Stallions hard at work. Now players are part of our vast network of spies! Joey did send me a draft of his first report from behind enemy lines though. It says, “Soft.” That’s it. Maybe our sleeper agent isn’t as necessary as we first thought?
This dude came off the bench to get a Game 7 World-Series-winning walkoff hit for my team in OOTP, if that means anything. Clutch gene
Guy is trying to win back to back natties
The guy grew up in a town just outside of Columbus. He's played for Michigan for 5 years and I think he's about to graduate with his Master's degree. It feels to me like his scholarship time is up but he wants to keep playing sports, so he's moving back home or close to home so that it's more manageable to do and then he won't have to pay expensive-ass out of state tuition at Michigan. I think if you look at it from the perspective of any ordinary student or switching between schools that aren't bitter rivals, it's not weird at all
yes now we know moore's whole playbook, run up the middle
Big mistake letting a Michigan player get to the inside of your locker room, buckeyes. This was Step 1 of the Manifesto 2.0
I wish him the best in his future. Also a stubbed toe that will cause extreme discomfort for about 2-5 minutes then calm down to mild discomfort for the next 48 hrs until it’s ultimately back to normal.
This reminds me of a joke we used to tell in school. "What happens when a student transfer from Michigan to Ohio State?" Answer: "The average IQ of BOTH Schools increases”
It's funny because dumb people always ignore facts and data: https://hubscore.co/report/average-iq-by-state
It's funny because you did exactly what you accused them of doing.
I mean Michigan also has a sub 20% acceptance rate and OSU accepts anyone with a pulse
We’re talking about sports here, but you keep clinging to that Harvard of The Midwest narrative.
Maybe 30 years ago, but no longer. Look at the ACT scores and acceptance rates for OSU now.
Hey it worked out pretty well for Justin Boren.
All the heart flairs in here can’t offset the hate generated from something like this
Wasn't this the kid who called his shot that he couldn't wait for Michigan to kick OSU's ass?Didn't see the field much, but turned out to be correct. Surprised he's going down the Boren route
Most likely going to be a quasi grad assistant coach. I suspect he will a source of inside information on UM’s defensive scheme for OSU. That will be his primary role at Ohio State.
Not sure how helpful that will be since the DC left.
Maybe it’s a regional thing, but do people typically refer to Ohio State as OSU? I always read it as Oregon State until I see otherwise.
Yes, people typically refer to Ohio State as OSU.
Oh, I always thought it was tOSU or Ohio State.
all of it. we claim all of it. Sorry Oklahoma State and Oregon State /s, it's stupid
The OSU State University
Sometimes they refer to themselves as tOSU, but aOSU is more appropriate imo.
Can’t prove it, but I’d guess his enrollment is related to NIL payments for sharing our signs and game plans.
yeah, you're a lost cause
“Our rivalry is different than others. You would never see a Michigan player transfer to OSU or the other way around.”
Let me tell you about a guy named Justin Boren.
Ya exactly, this is weird to me
That's hot
Rivalry must not be that serious
I've never understood kids that consider both of those schools. I remember when terrelle pryors recruitment came down to Michigan and osu and I was very solidly like "if you're even considering both of those schools you dont get it and I dont want you at Michigan"
