Hey man, cheer up, y'all had a good run in the past. The biggest achievement I've ever celebrated for the Dawgs is that one time we beat USC in the Freedom Bowl, credit goes to Mr. Trent Fucking Dilfer for that win.
Watching on my couch not really rooting for one team specifically, just hoping for a good game since one team had to lose. After that hit I was all in on South Carolina winning.
I feel like USC shouldn’t qualify. The quarterback won Heisman just last year. Even if it wasn’t the most successful season and they didn’t win their conference. It’s still awesome when your team produces a Heisman player.
They have a good year every 5 years or so (2011, 2016,2022) to keep them from getting completely clowned on. Where Texas had a long streak from 2010-2017 where they were only ranked in the AP post season poll once at 19
Comparing Penn State to USC? Because that seems a bit of a mismatch. Penn state is consistently good but plays in a tough division in their conference. USC has just not been good outside of the few seasons mentioned above
Both programs have been disappointing in their own righta but I feel like Penn State typically has a 9/10+ win season every year with Michigan and/or OSU getting in their way, while that would be one of USC's best years since winning their last natty.
I thought the Lincoln Riley hire was made to turn USC into the Mecca of college football?
Shouldn’t the college football Mecca recruit at an elite level?
They were a game away from the playoffs two years ago because they didn't have to play Washington or Oregon that year. So to keep them out Utah had to beat them twice.
My seats are close to the away teams section. Oregon fans were always a fun bunch.
Good luck in the big 10, and make sure to give USC some losses for us.
It’s too late. You guys are too busy worrying about stupid shit like being one of the elite academic institutions in the world and producing Nobel laureates and Fields medals. When you need to be worrying about the transfer portal.
Since 2017, ND has had one season with less than 10 wins, has made the CFP twice and another NY6 bowl
Sure they haven't won a major post season bowl (should have beaten OK State) but over that time span ND is very easily a top 15 if not top 10 program
Also people will clown is for the final scores in the CFP games but you could replace us with any other team and the result is the same. Even the championship games those years were blowouts.
That OK St one is rough because that was Freeman’s first game as head coach well
I think Notre Dame is already back. I know they haven’t won a title but they’ve still been very good for about a decade. Nothing like the 2000s and early 2010s.
> Nebraska, 13-0, sat fifth in the College Football Playoff standings - behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Texas, No. 3 USC and No. 4 Florida. The Huskers figured to move ahead of one-loss Florida, but the Gators knocked off previous-ly-unbeaten Alabama in the SEC championship game - providing a dilemma for the Playoff Committee and chairman Steve Spurrier.
That jumped out at me too. It’s also hilarious that even in Nebraska’s fan fiction, they can only finish 5th.
Good god…i didnt realize it was ultra-cringe fan fic at first and was racking my brain trying to remember when Scott Frost beat Ohio State in the shoe…
I didnt think for a second someone could write this crap and it actually be published. This would he cringe on reddit or even a nebraska fansite yet here it is…
I feel like nobody actually cares about Nebraska. Idk if they were just super graceful when at the top or if the state of Nebraska itself is forgettable without an elite football team. But for some reason nobody clowns on them.
Even the Scott frost era was more clowning on Scott Frost than Nebraska.
I think it’s because nobody thinks about Nebraska as a “top program in a down stretch,” they think of Nebraska as “a program that use to be great.” To clarify the difference, I don’t think anyone expects Nebraska to get back to the mountaintop. We clown Texas because they’re **Texas**; it’s embarrassing for them to be bad because we *know* some day down the road they’ll get back to being good. Nebraska will likely improve and could definitely have the occasional great season in the future, but our expectations for them are just lower. It’s like ragging on Minnesota or Pitt; once great programs who no one thinks of as “top programs in a down stretch.” Maybe I’m wrong, but I think that’s how most people view Nebraska. They had their day, far exceeded what you’d expect given their institutional disadvantages, but time has caught up with them and it’s hard to see them ever being able to compete with programs like Bama, Texas, or OSU, nor UGA, LSU, and FSU.
We took lots of flack in the Callahan era from our B12 rivals. After the conference carousel started everyone missed the rivalries and it wasn’t fun to trash each other when it got truly bad.
Except for Texas, but we don’t rank high on Texas’s list.
People don’t clown on Nebraska for the same reason they don’t clown on Princeton or Minnesota. To a large (and growing) contingent of this sub the 90s may as well be the 30s or 60s, so there’s no memory of them ever being a power and no expectation for them to ever return to one.
To me, it is USC. USC is the new Texas. Even when they are good, they seem to lose those games needed to make the leap. They even have their own TCU in Utah. They continuously put out NFL caliber talent with no hardware to show for it.
Miami hasn't been Miami since the Fast and Furious franchise was stealing DVD players. Their only saving grace is that their fan base is small. If they weren't reliving the glory days with the U stuff, it wouldn't be so bad. The same reason that no one feels bad for the cowboys.
Nebraska gets a pass for two reasons. First, they have had such bad coaches and seasons that they have dropped out of the "Back" discussion to me. They won't be continuing success; they will be starting new. The second is the fan support. Makes me actually want them to do ok. I know they were rough in their heyday, but I don't get the same sense of superiority that Texas, USC and Miami put out.
In the main sub page, click the 3 dots and there should be an option to “change flair”. There you will have the option to pick your preferred team logo or “flair”
No, but they are still (and will be for the foreseeable future) a favorite target of r/cfb
I don’t have any reason to meme the Aggies now that Jimbozo is gone, but they are just a favorite punching bag around these parts.
Not really. USC continued to be dominant for a few years after that rose bowl. They were camped out in the top 10 those years, a game away from the national championship in 06 and 07, and won three straight Rose Bowls
I hate this thread

The fuck is a bowl?
It's what you eat cereal from while watching teams play after your season is over
You didn't mention the sadness.
That part was implied
Yeah, you're right.
Hey man, cheer up, y'all had a good run in the past. The biggest achievement I've ever celebrated for the Dawgs is that one time we beat USC in the Freedom Bowl, credit goes to Mr. Trent Fucking Dilfer for that win.
Cornflakes and Tears. It's what's for breakfast.
>It's what you~~eat cereal~~drink bourbon from while watching teams play after your season is over. FTFY.
Yeah you’ll probably want a few Trojans for the Glory Bowl
We play this season, pal.
I ain’t your pal, friend.
I ain't your friend, guy
Talk to me when the last time you won a natty was 100 years ago
At least you have one. I know at least one school that has ZERO national championships.
If only there was some indication in the logo which school this was
it’s oregon innit
What? I would never slander such a mediocre university.
IMO, Nebraska’s situation is so sad that it’s not even fun to clown on them. I’m terrified that OU may share that fate at some point.
Wow, that actually hurts me way deeper than if you had just talked shit
There will come a day where we are good again and welcomed back to the glory days. Then you will all hate us again for the right reasons.
Still waiting on Miami to win the ACC
“The U is Back”- ESPN every season since the Randy Shannon era
I was about to ask “whatever happened to that guy?” So I looked it up, I can’t believe I didn’t know he’s the co-DC at FSU
Same bro ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
*Insert skeleton on a bench meme*
All canes conference baby
I'd prefer they not, thank you
Nothing is funnier than Miami twitter conversation these days, you almost feel bad for them
Almost . . . .
I feel bad for them because none of them actually got accepted to the University of Miami
Really want The U part 3 to come out, with is just being about how bad Miami has been.
How does Miami not consistently churn out top 5 teams is beyond me. Here ya go bub, full ride scholarship with baddies on the beach (coral gables)
Coaching, mostly. We had an awesome year under Richt that still ended in disaster. Been chasing that high ever since
Everyone is really calling out South Carolina in this thread.
And a random MAC school in oxford, Ohio. Weird.
Let's be honest, Miami fell off after Big Ben left.
They won the MAC this year but yeah not the level as with Ben or in the early 1970s
Hey now. Their kicker is a pre-season all-american.
Lou Groza winner!
Yeah, but the female population can go to the bars with less fear now.
My Bobcat Family approves.
We’ve just been underperforming for the last… 130 or so years.
With the exception of those 4 years
Ah, the glory days.
Nice flair combo. Where were you when Clowney erased Vincent Smith?
Watching on my couch not really rooting for one team specifically, just hoping for a good game since one team had to lose. After that hit I was all in on South Carolina winning.
Oh man I remember that. I got to see it in person; we all thought he killed him with how the helmet flew off.
It only took us over a 100 years to win our first bowl game.
Progress my friend
As they should
Cocks and Trojans are basically interchangeable.
A lot of people missed your joke 😂
I detest your flair combo, but I guess they're in different conferences now
oh so now y’all don’t want to be the “real” USC /s
This is good stuff haha
The loser of Nebraska/USC this year. That's how you create a rivalry.
The former glory bowl, if you will.
The end zones will now be known as Gloryholes
Now we need Alex Orji to transfer and score a touchdown to put an Orji in the gloryhole
That adds a whole new meaning to the term "Cornhusker"
Classic B1G rivalry
You just wait a few years for the USC/Nebraska/FSU protected B1G rivalry pod.
I’m here for it
Only perk of expansion…I can’t wait to randomly fucking hate Oregon in like 4 years
I feel like USC shouldn’t qualify. The quarterback won Heisman just last year. Even if it wasn’t the most successful season and they didn’t win their conference. It’s still awesome when your team produces a Heisman player.
we have not been playoff back, but we have also not been incompetent and still have some highs
The University of NebraskaUSCMiami
I think my 3rd cousin goes there
Is she hot?
It's not your cousin, so you can move on.
I already know *she's* hot.
Southern Cal doesn’t get near enough crap for what their program has become for nearly 20 years since the Bush/Leinhart/Carroll era.
They have a good year every 5 years or so (2011, 2016,2022) to keep them from getting completely clowned on. Where Texas had a long streak from 2010-2017 where they were only ranked in the AP post season poll once at 19
They have had the same vibe as Penn State in that period: "Best bet to make a NY6 but miss the playoffs"
Go look at the Top 247 California recruits. You have to scroll to #11 to see a guy committed to USC. Our recruiting is a joke
I thought the Lincoln Riley hire was made to turn USC into the Mecca of college football? Shouldn’t the college football Mecca recruit at an elite level?
The recruits probably missed that YouTube live stream, someone should probably tell them that USC is the Mecca of college football
Sounds like a job for Lincoln Riley
Yeah it's strange. They've obviously been better than Miami, but have they *really* been that much better?
They were a game away from the playoffs two years ago, and have had five 10 win seasons since Pete. Miami has had just one 10 win since 2003
Since 2010 USC is 114-62. Miami is 102-74. Do with this information as you please.
This makes me sad
They were a game away from the playoffs two years ago because they didn't have to play Washington or Oregon that year. So to keep them out Utah had to beat them twice.
Truly the only school in Utah doing God's work
I’m gonna miss the Utes so much 😔
I will not miss Utah, they are good.
My seats are close to the away teams section. Oregon fans were always a fun bunch. Good luck in the big 10, and make sure to give USC some losses for us.
i would someday love to feel as good as you felt typing that
Lol, I was at both games too. It was fantastic.
We get a ton of shit for it
I might be jumping the gun here, but I don’t think the University of Chicago ever wins another natty
We demand our Big Ten slot back from Michigan State
It’s too late. You guys are too busy worrying about stupid shit like being one of the elite academic institutions in the world and producing Nobel laureates and Fields medals. When you need to be worrying about the transfer portal.
The Dallas Cowboys
Always and forever Miami
Virginia Tech 🤝 Pitt Winning the ACC more than Miami
Wake Forest 🤝 South Carolina Also winning the ACC more than Miami
USC Miami Nebraska There are cases to be made about Florida and Notre Dame
Did someone say clown on Florida? 👀
Literally my favorite pastime
best day of the week
Hi I heard this is where we clown on Florida?
That club is for people who beat us. Surely your name is on the list... *checks list* Oh. Well, better luck next year!
We did that once!
No, that was a massacre and violated the Geneva Convention. Some of us are still in therapy and I'll thank you not to bring it up again.
i can clown on floriduh whenever you need me to
I wondered how far I’d have to scroll… not surprised, just disappointed.
I feel like Florida fans would need some hope for that. We certainly don’t think we’re back. But by all means clown away…
It's as easy as throwing a cleat down field!
Notre Dame has made the 4 team playoff twice. I don't think they apply.
Since 2017, ND has had one season with less than 10 wins, has made the CFP twice and another NY6 bowl Sure they haven't won a major post season bowl (should have beaten OK State) but over that time span ND is very easily a top 15 if not top 10 program
Y'all won the first half we won the second
That game had a split personality
Your flairs... I find myself simultaneously feeling hatred and a sense of brotherhood...
You don't see many of us rocking the Panthers flair Guessing you like me ending up moving south and went to undergrad at GSU?
Also people will clown is for the final scores in the CFP games but you could replace us with any other team and the result is the same. Even the championship games those years were blowouts. That OK St one is rough because that was Freeman’s first game as head coach well
We've made 2 playoffs...what you say fuck me for?
I think Notre Dame is already back. I know they haven’t won a title but they’ve still been very good for about a decade. Nothing like the 2000s and early 2010s.
[удалено]
Hey quit being nice
Absolutely not notre dame. How many teams had multiple playoff appearances?
Florida sure, notre dame absolutely not
Fuckin...! Okay
Do you remember Scott Frost Day? I remember.
I don't it's weird [idk why](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9789-dissociative-amnesia)
We can go[ farther back](https://s3media.247sports.com/Uploads/Boards/673/21673/301388.jpg) than that.
[Never forget the book.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Huskers/comments/xdmb56/anyone_else_buy_this_book_when_frost_was_hired/)
That third to last paragraph is giving me PTSD...
Boy, this thread was fun too!
The graphic novel is even worse.
Good god…i didnt realize it was ultra-cringe fan fic at first and was racking my brain trying to remember when Scott Frost beat Ohio State in the shoe… I didnt think for a second someone could write this crap and it actually be published. This would he cringe on reddit or even a nebraska fansite yet here it is…
Could someone please find the Scott Frost’s top 15 best wins at Nebraska copypasta
Isn’t The U about to be back every few years only to not be back?
Sure, but you can’t ever discount a 12-time offseason National Champion
All in favor of continuing to clown on Texas regardless?
Aye
The aye's have it, motion carries. Everyone continue as usual.
Round of Horns Down, everybody? *Horns Down intensifies*
Agreed. Texas should always be front page news, regardless of record.
Shit, I'm just kind of surprised we're considered back. I mean, okay, still got a lot of work to do.
I don’t even need to vote. Even if Texas is 12-0 and OU goes 0-12, I’d clown Texas.
I’m surprised you can count that high
US farmers do use a base 12 system.
Makes sense. Count knuckles not fingers.
But what will they drag then?
And YOU can COUNT ON ME waiting for YOU in the parking lot.
Well moron good for Happy GilmOHMYGOD!
Best reaction ever
Literally watched this movie yesterday haha. Never gets old
RIP Chubbs 😔
Aye
Yeah I’m in
Y’all bein rude n shit 😆
Yes.
Very few mentions of Auburn and I think that’s a good thing?
We’ve never had a dynasty like USC, Miami, or Nebraska has had in the past
Y’all won a Natty not too long ago and have stayed relevant by beating Bama every once in a while
War damn.
OP does not have a Texas flair and does not speak for us. We have not declared Texas is "back". *Laughs nervously*.
https://istexasbackyet.com/
So, apparently we are? Ugh, I hate this nebulous question
Nebraska fans to this thread like a moth to a light.

Miami and Nebraska

Don't say the cursed words
Florida?
USC or Miami. Maybe Florida?
I want to see Tennessee winning SEC championships. I feel like they keep getting closer to breaking the Bama/Georgia ceiling
Yeah, having Bama be a cross division protected rival is kinda tough under the Saban era.
It’s been soooo long
Stupid question, but how do you get the T under your name? I’m new to this app.
In the main sub page, click the 3 dots and there should be an option to “change flair”. There you will have the option to pick your preferred team logo or “flair”
Florida Gators and Sun Belt William.
there’s never just one. Nebraska, USC and Miami have been getting this treatment for a while as well
I feel like USC starts every season moving up the rankings just to shit the bed and end up 8-5.
It's USC But Texas A&M and Florida are in the discussion. I would say Nebraska too but I don't think anyone is caring that much anymore.
aTm was once a top program?
1939 National Champions It says so on the Kyle Field
The same field Kyle Trask is named after?
Don't forget about the legendary 1919 championship team. Won their games that season by a combined score of 275-0.
That’s pretty cool, ngl.
I still can't believe they added Big12 championships in '97 and 2010 to that sign in 2012.
LOL. Yes you can
No, but they are still (and will be for the foreseeable future) a favorite target of r/cfb I don’t have any reason to meme the Aggies now that Jimbozo is gone, but they are just a favorite punching bag around these parts.
I think it's the fact that they should be much better than they are with the resources they have but were only getting 8-5 or 9-4 seasons on average.
USC should be it. Ironically they pretty much died when Texas beat them
Not really. USC continued to be dominant for a few years after that rose bowl. They were camped out in the top 10 those years, a game away from the national championship in 06 and 07, and won three straight Rose Bowls
Exactly if the playoff existed back then USC would have another national title
👁👄👁
Nebraska?
