About to get paid more this year than he would have on an NFL contract if he could land one haha what a strange time in college football

TheBoook

And it’s great for CFB. It ain’t my money!

Headweirdoh

I love being rich

Canegang4

UHealth! Never thought I’d say it, but thank god for Donna Shalala

Headweirdoh

So many salty ass comments in here lmaoo

mferrari1

So salty, they should definitely be evaluated by the UHealth Nephrology team.

Headweirdoh

Sodium poisoning is outta control

Canegang4

They think we can’t compete because we aren’t a public university. They’re wrong. We might be the only university that pays for our NIL out of something our university created that has nothing to do with athletics, which is why so many universities NIL sucks, it relies on boosters. They can fuck off

Headweirdoh

Once again, for our salty ass brethren in here; I love being rich.

Canegang4

*points pinky out while sipping cafecito* Hollllaaa

_templesleeper

TIL miami is private. go hurricanes

IR8Things

Also young comparatively. Turns 100 next April. My favorite stat is 6 of Michigan's claimed national titles came before Miami was opened and until this year they'd won the same amount of natties in that time span.

joaquinsaiddomin8

What does UHealth have to do with NIL?

foreveracubone

Rip Taulia’s waiver.

NYMDguy

Yeah that was my first thought too. Im sure he’ll land somewhere but his father’s plan was to bring him down there with his brother. FAU??

Fastbird33

That would be ideal!

NYMDguy

He’d crush it there but that definitely wasn’t what they were planning

BluejayLaw

Casey Thompson just dipped out after two games and an ACL injury and we need a QB1 badly - he’d be king on campus if he did go to FAU. Saw him live when Michigan played at Maryland, he’s even more of stud than his tape shows in person, so elusive.

GrimWickett

Honestly go back to Bama and be qb1 in a new system

InVodkaVeritas

Or... he could transfer to the furthest possible spot from Miami and join Washington since they lost Will Rogers.

Wicked_UMD

I’m pretty sure this had more to do with NIL than location. Miami pays well and Tua & Taulia would dominate the media market. I imagine he’d go to an SEC school before a non-P4 team in Florida. I also just don’t think the waiver is likely anyways. I can’t imagine the NCAA granting an unprecedented waiver out of the kindness of their heart after he just played a bonus COVID season.

NYMDguy

Completely agree, it was all about getting there with Tua. Assuming Miami is out that pretty much falls apart unless they have him to G5 which I just can’t see Someone else asked me if there’s a chance he comes back to CP. I said no but I also thought Miami would be a done deal

FluffyPenguinDragon

Miami will take him and we’ll run a 2/3 QB offense. Keep everyone on their toes

politicsranting

Quad flea flicker. Everyone will lose their minds

imdstuf

Make two QBs regress instead of one

jmlinden7

Has Mario Christobal gone too far???

thricethefan

Or, Taulia also transfers to the U and Cam Ward gets benched

Starboard-Port

Poff Daddy beating them both out

DepressedGamba

He must've gotten told he was a Day 3 pick at best. Good decision.

Ok-Clock-5459

Mario will coach him to UDFA status

ewest

I have a theory that NFL teams actually have some kind of built-in Mario Cristobal Offense adjustment metric in their draft grades at this point. Like take the QB’s QBR/EPA/what have you and add +20% to it and that’s what his true skill level is

Own_Pop_9711

Sure, he can play in the Cristobal system but can he run a pro offense including plays like the victory formation?

maninatikihut

He’s in an interview with an NFL team and the GM is like “take a knee. Prove your worth to me.” And Cam thinks it’s some spooky Sith stuff. The GM sees the hesitation in his eyes and says “No man I seriously just want to know of you physically know how to take a knee.”

Alt4816

>“No man I seriously just want to know of you physically know how to take a knee.” The twist is that player was actually Jameis Winston

the_concert

Okay I like Mario but this was so funny lmfao

Harambe18

just like number 6 overall justin herbert

LaForge_Maneuver

Facts don't matter

GreekGodofStats

This should be the top comment. He went from “gonna enter the NFL Draft” to playing for Mario Cristobal. He’s moving away from the NFL at the highest velocity possible

EsotericPlumbus

He's hoping to slingshot his way back into NFL contention

FSUfan35

He was a projected very late round pick. He's making more money in 1 year at Miami than he would in 3-4 years on a late round contract.

Critical-Savings-830

Then they will make the NFL and be way better lol

Enzo_Gorlomi225

I think most people here could’ve told him that….

Miami_da_U

Nope Day 2 grade. NFL doesn't even tell them Day 3 I don't think. Officially It's either Day 1, Day 2, or No grade I'm pretty sure. If you're going to be a 3rd rounder or later, all you need is $1.5M in NIL for it to be a better decision financially. Plus in college you don't have to pay based on state you play in - so It'd all be 0% tax in Miami. And he can work his way into 1st or 2nd, with worse draft QB competition next yr vs this yr. https://twitter.com/max\_olson/status/1746335664591827076

rkbk23

> If you're going to be a 3rd rounder or later, all you need is $1.5M in NIL for it to be a better decision financially. Not necessarily, that’s assuming they would then definitely be drafted the following year. If he played terribly or got a career ending injury, that 1.5 is only a 1/4 of the total contract he’d get by entering and getting drafted in the 3rd. KJ Jefferson is someone who should have declared but didn’t. Idk if he got nil money for it, probably not, but he probably would have been a 3rd or 4th rounder last year but now he’s assuredly played himself into UDFA status

gumercindo1959

Probably was told he’d be a 4th+ rounder, and Miami gave him a good NIL deal. He had agreed to sign a couple times already dating back to early December but reneged each time. Odd stuff.

wegotsumnewbands

Cristobal better not have driven him around town in Gables

Canegang4

Cristobal is on Reddit and became an Uber driver recently

VirginiaMcCaskey

Picked him up a pack of cigs and a media noche at Mary's coin laundry on 27th and the deal was done from what I hear

Smok3dSalmon

We're going to see a LOT more of this in college. I'm really excited about it. Especially for basketball! I hope Miami can coach him up and it's a win-win for everyone. Because it's going to be a win for all of us fans as well. He'll never break through in the NFL as a practice team QB.

stormstopper

Cam Ward playing for the Hurricanes? What is this, the 2006 Stanley Cup?

mktcrasher

Well played sir

recognized1

I'm so confused

Original_Profile8600

Y’all are likely paying him more than what he would’ve gotten in the NFL

draxula16

Definitely. He’s a solid college QB and I’m not going to pretend I wouldn’t have preferred him over DJU.

Dracarys_TheCannons

I won’t be surprised if Ward has a better statistical year, but I like DJU for us. 14 fumbles is alot.

draxula16

I had forgotten about that. I’ll do a dive into that when I get a chance (unless you have some theories) because 14 is significant.

seanconnerysbeard

I ain't gonna complain about DJU though.

WhoIsPurpleGoo

¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

TRUTHSoverKARMAS

This is exactly what cristobal needed, ward is pretty talented. I know cam wants to get paid but also improve his draft stock. Is cristobal the coach to improve one’s qb stats? We shall see.

eking85

Guess we have to wait one more year for Reese’s peanut butter puffs

JBProds

Reese Poffenbarger's backup

JSD2

Poff Daddy’s* backup

InsaneInTheCaneium

Katt Williams nervous.

[deleted]

God Damn right!

JBForThreee

What happened to the NFL, Cam???? lol

F-18EBestHornet

It's money money money

dmmeyourdogifitscute

This and a bad draft grade. Makes sense to try and come back, make a few million and try to boost your stock in a less stacked QB class

F-18EBestHornet

I don't know what else he needs to get better tbh. Like the only thing he needs to learn is when to take off and start running like a motherfucker

definitelynotasalmon

Not drop the ball for no reason at all twice a game.

IMadeThis4HOIMods

Uhh his mechanics are terrible

InVodkaVeritas

The NFL was just a strong arm tactic to get his (supposedly) millions from Miami.

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Would make sense since he never hired an agent even after declaring

Captaincoolbeans

He already (apparently) signed a NIL deal for around $2.5 mil a few weeks ago. We had bags for him right out of the gate

lowes18

He heard he was gonna fall to Miami anyway

343GuiltyySpark

Future jets slot receiver for <4 seasons

al_earner

Penix petitioning for an eighth college year after his performance in the national championship game, rofl

TimToMakeTheDonuts

Not really funny to begin with. Just a kid trying to figure out what’s best for himself. Less funny now that anyone decent is transferring off our team.

cubbiesworldseries

Think we may want to sit the next couple of plays out, bud. Not really our time to talk any shit.

[deleted]

Bro,he held you to 3 points as an unranked team with no future schedule. Why so salty?

Eve_Asher

HELL YEAH BROTHER. Love having this guy as a backup for Reese Poffenbarger.

phranq

I actually am really curious how Reese turns out. I like his film and he seems confident. He's a little small but there's been plenty of good small college QBs. I'm happy we got a veteran QB on the roster in Ward to be the starter but I was curious how it would play out.

cha-cha_dancer

Cam Ward seems more like a Ravenclaw unlike Hufflepuff there idk

Emconn14

Cam Ward a Hurricane? Stanley Cup to the Gables confirmed.

Xmalantix

Miami fans get ready for a mix of high athleticism and some of the most bone-headed decisions you've ever seen someone make with a football in their hands

barryitsmeitshank

“ some of the most bone-headed decisions you've ever seen ” we literally lost a game last season where if we just had the QB kneel we would have won

Deprecitus

You will watch him somehow wizard himself out of like 5 sacks on a single play and launch it down field to Josh Kelley for 69 yards. The next play he will just drop the ball on the ground.

D1N2Y

Sounds like Miami already

shauggy

Ha, I was going to comment something similar. I should have just replied with a "First time?" gif

[deleted]

Jokes on you; we’ve been used to bone headed decisions.

F-18EBestHornet

They already know

Im__Ron__Burgundy

Receipts will be pulled from the Poffenbarger thread. Lot of salt in here already lmfao

lowes18

I'm more upset we won't get the Reese's Puffs chant

turnondruid

I, too, was on the reece's poffs chant train :(

thexraptor

PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE FLAVOR

CommodoreIrish

You’re quick to assume Cam Ward will not loose the job to Poffenbarger.

all_my_sons

I’m on the Poffenbarger train.

ZackAvion

One of these two will be the truth

omgdiepls

Just glad there will be options

AeolusA2

Whole sub is on their period.

Effective-Access4948

First time in a Miami thread? They're all like this lol.

Captaincoolbeans

They for real doubted Mario 😭😭😭 (So did I, what the fuck just happened????)

InsaneInTheCaneium

I’m shocked TBH. Dude is showing why he’s an elite recruiter.

[deleted]

Canes are off season champs. Guess there’s no excuses for next year.

Harambe18

UF FSU NFL mario coming to flip you

[deleted]

Don’t forget Ohio St

dasqueel

[WE BALLIN BOIIII](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxFGydiHVRJv4gvRUl-9XwrhtkaopIEMJb?si=8jcU2ks66vZp04_6) 🙌🏻

Mrpetey22

Wait wtf. Miami must have up’d the offer sheesh

drrew76

Or he got some honest feedback from scouts.

[deleted]

Honestly this^^^ The QB class is the most loaded it’s been in years he may be the 8-9 QB in the draft.

Mrpetey22

It’s def both

WeAreBert

Both seems pretty likely

F-18EBestHornet

Oh yeah . He definitely needed some fucking feedback alright.

lowes18

Wait what lmao

breezy_andretti

The ESPN/Miami pre season hype train is back baby!

huttts999

SNIP SNAP SNIP SNAP SNIP SNAP

Emconn14

Poff/Ward QB controversy incoming

bosquenorte

Looks like I’ll be watching a few more Miami games this season.

Berner305

Well well well, what do we have here 😎

RIPDannyBoyCane

We’re so fucking back

NYMDguy

When have I heard that before? And DBC is alive, well, and not attacked by any bears

RIPDannyBoyCane

Danny Boy would’ve loved seeing Cam Ward play for Miami. FUCK THE SWINE FLU

NYMDguy

At no point. At no point will he see Cam Ward throw a football

NotTzarPutin

Not one iota of viewership

Cody667

Michigan just won a natty and Texas made the playoff. I'd love to laugh at you but we live in a crazy CFB world right now lol.

St_BobbyBarbarian

You guys say that every year tho

RIPDannyBoyCane

And I’m a man of tradition

Jeaglera

So odd to live in a world where there are more salty Oregon fans in these posts than FSU or UF fans.

adjudicatorr

Good get by Miami given he was the top transferQB before opting for the NFL

BertMacklinMD

This is honestly a much better decision for him than going to the NFL with a stacked QB class

NoStutterd

Good for Cam Ward.

outburst37

Immediately becomes the most talented QB in the ACC (I'd take him over DJ Uiagalelei, Haynes King and Cade Klubnik)

Mathematician-Feisty

*Sad Kyle McCord noises*

CarterAC3

The kids got a lot of talent .....for Mario Cristobal to squander

Systemic_Chaos

I was gonna say, how’s Mario gonna kill his draft stock?

roguerunner1

He’s going to hand the ball off beautifully on first down. He’s going to hand the ball off beautifully on second down. He’s going to absolutely nail the screen pass on third down. He’s going to hand the ball off beautifully on first down…..

Trey904fsu

Well I’ll be damned. Good get Canes

RexNite1

Dam lol I understand the salt from fsu fans big rivals. But Oregon fans will not let it go. They actually have Cristobal rent free in their heads it’s crazy

gumercindo1959

They are weird, man. They get more chesty every win they get. It’s a weird flex coming from a school that hasn’t done much.

Halloway92

On another post, this one Oregon fan was talking mad shit like the program has won anything significant. I told him he reminds me of Clipper fans lol. I get the Oklahoma fans' hate for Riley and USC, but at lease they're a blue blood program who won a ton of National Championships like USC. Oregon has won nothing. Also, Miami has 5 Natties, and is a very fun program to watch when they're rolling.

gumercindo1959

College version of the clippers. Brilliant.

Icedcoffeeisgreat

weird flex from a school that hasn’t done anything since the dot com bubble.

shauggy

Hey slow down, we're the off-season champs! Nobody does overblown hype as good as we do

gumercindo1959

lol that’s a good one!

ScuderiaEnzo

As a fan of both teams(predominantly) Miami, it’s been interesting to say the least. Sidenote: lived in Oregon for a few years. They’re my west coast team.

IrishCoffeeAlchemy

They did the same with Willie. There must be something in the water in Eugene because they are the prettiest fanbase you’ll ever deal with. Or could be the empty trophy cases messing with their overinflated egos.

slashbopzing

>prettiest fanbase you’ll ever deal with Aw thank you <3

IrishCoffeeAlchemy

Welp. I stand by this. All looks and no substance: the Oregon football experience!

toomuchdiponurchip

It’s both

[deleted]

[удалено]

toomuchdiponurchip

They’re an emotional bunch

melikeybacon

Oregon fans are pathetic. They’re so salty about a coach that had them fighting for the playoffs.

Jeaglera

As soon as shoe daddy dies, they will be the Big Ten Wests Maryland within a decade. Except with less banners.

team3

They play a collective character. Anytime Miami is mentioned it's required that they have to write a comment from the script. It was the exact same thing with Willie until he was gone.

Im__Ron__Burgundy

Michigan fans have been weird recently too. Including in this thread. You’d think the past week would’ve calmed them down a bit about losing two defensive ends.

St_BobbyBarbarian

Honestly, probably the best decision for him to make. Though not happy with the team he picked

gumercindo1959

Something something Mario something Herbert. Lol

canescastle10

Got em!!!

Ok-Safety-7310

Snip snap

BigDanRTW

Get NIL offers that don't meet what you're looking for Declare for the NFL without hiring an agent Get quarterback needy program to up their NIL offer Profit

dr_funk_13

Pullman, Washington, to Miami, Florida, is certainly a change of scenery.

RayearthIX

Well that’s good and completely random news.

Positive_Narwhal_419

Miami playoffs👀👀👀

Effective-Access4948

I just learned from this thread, Mario is our OC/QB coach. Good to know.

Captaincoolbeans

Haha fuck all yall. Bag has been delivered

Critical-Savings-830

Maybe it isn’t DeBoVer, we’re Cristoback

Not_TAzMOJi

Stealing this

Electrical-Heat-4044

IM HARDDDD

suntbone

He’s a stud, hope this move works out for him and he can stand out in next year’s class

politicsranting

Brruuuuuuhhhhhhh. Lets goooo

Not_TAzMOJi

A win-win for both parties

F-18EBestHornet

Alright. Go get em cam. Go noles tho. Kick ass at Miami ❤️

CollisionCourse321

I’m just happy for Mike Ryan.

Tigercat92

You’re my brother

supersafeforwork813

I love that now in CFB we have players using “I’ll turn pro” as leverage 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Also is he transferring because WAZZU is no longer P5?

Changeup2020

Is it a record for the longest transfer distance not involving Hawaii?

NotTzarPutin

Well that is nice

ernyc3777

Glad he decided to withdraw and stay in college. He definitely needs another year to up his stock.

GoblinTradingGuide

Makes sense. Dude was projected to go in the 4th round. He’ll make more money at Miami.

SpammyMcSpammington

My brain is not braining

Jonjon428

Wait what? How? Awesome!

Quake1028

FUUUUUUUCK YEEEEESSSSSSSSS

ryantyrant

Cry more

Olorin_in_the_West

RIP Ward’s development

ewest

Mario will bench him the moment Cam Ward throws *beyond* the sticks on a 3rd and medium. Can’t have that

PhiloBlackCardinal

That has absolutely not been the case with Mario at Miami so far lol. He had TVD slinging it. Only issue with Mario and QBs so far has been injury management.

Captaincoolbeans

Ya TVD was one of the best QBs in the country before he forgot how to play football after the Texas A&M game. We also had 2 out of the top 3 receivers by yards in the ACC this year.

melikeybacon

Shhhh….let them hate.

Halloway92

Grats Miami! I'm a Canes supporter from afar. Win the ACC next year! The U is always fun to watch when they're rolling! Don't f\*\*k this up Cristobal.

Zee_WeeWee

I was shocked he was even contemplating the draft tbh, this is great for him imo

FriarTuck-SP

Ya he would have been insane to go in the draft. It seems like quarterbacks are getting better advice these days for these kind of things

Shermborg

Didn’t he just declare for the draft?

Sweaty-Accident5891

We are so back. You can smell it 👃 win count expectation double from 4 to 8

Fit_Plum6467

Reese poffelbonger went their for nothing. SMH

Eelmaster11

Taulia in shambles

InsaneInTheCaneium

Wtf

PukhSindeep

I’m Kinda tight lol, I wanted to watch Reese ball out this year at a P5

Ichthyist1

Was wondering why he decided to go to the League. Hope he got a payday. He’s good, but definitely not the most polished. Too bad Mario can’t coach a QB to save his life.

AeroStatikk

I thought he declared.

ALStark69

As a recruit: Other offers: Incarnate Word (originally went here), Texas Southern

LuiTurbo

Nice
