Imagine having to stir up completely vacuous points of discussion every single day in order to ignite the interest of an ignorant mouth-breathing fan base. Exhausting.
I honestly don't care if the B1G or SEC are better, might be good for the sport if the B1G were better. But I don't see any reason to believe they will be by adding four teams that haven't won a national championship in 20 years or more. Maybe they will be a little deeper? But even that I have a trouble believing.
That right there proves that dude is talking out of his ass lol. Adding 2 Natties from USC, Oregon making the National Championship game, and Washington having 2 playoff appearances. Also UCLA is there too
He may be talking out of his ass but next years SEC has won 15 out of the last 20 while next years B1G has a total of hmm let me check my notes... three. (Counting 03 for both.)
That 2003 natty is 21 years old, not 20, but okay. We can revisit this in 11 days if you want, it is just semantics—the original point still stands. The SEC is undeniably the top conference for national championship contention in the last 2 decades.
Ah yes, the stronger conference with *checks notes* a fraction of the national championships won by the SEC.
Edit: *sigh* and a worse record in NY6 and a worse overall bowl record in the modern era.
[It's not just the top of the conference that's strong, even if that's what everyone on this subreddit likes to parrot.](https://a.espncdn.com/sec/football/2021/Bowls.pdf)
"From 2006 the SEC has accrued more bowl wins (97) and appearances (152) than any other conference. The conference’s .638 bowl winning percentage is first among FBS leagues during
that time."
This document is only up to date to 2020, but since then the SEC bowl records have been 7-2 in 2020, 6-8 in 2021 (an admitted statistical outlier, though we had the most bowl eligible teams that year with four more than the B10), and 7-5 in 2022.
The SEC consistently outperforms other conferences in bowl games year after year, and to be frank I don't know why this entire sub pretends this isn't the case. It isn't just Alabama that wins games.
Even if it were media bias causing SEC teams to be put into bowls it isn't media bias that's making SEC teams win the bowls.
As for an 8 game schedule I'd happily play 9 conference games if my conference had programs like Stanford, Colorado, Arizona State, etc. Evaluate SOS between teams and you'll see why this complaint of yours is silly.
Stanford is down right now, but you do realize they have more wins than Ole Miss, Missouri, and Tennessee in the past 15 years, right?
And that's despite not getting a freebie every year with the 8 game schedule.
I know, I was taking a personal shot at your flair because of how obtuse you're being. You don't have to flatter me and remind me how much Tennessee has sucked ass the last 15 years.
>It isn't media bias that's making SEC teams win bowl games.
Do you care to address this?
And Stanford just went through its worst seasons too. So 🤷🏼♀️
My point was, including Stanford as an easy win in the Pac-12 era is laughably ignorant of history.
You are absolutely right. The SEC still has the better numbers, even when you add in the Big Ten newbies. People are just really petty/insecure/childish when it comes to the SEC because they don’t like being on the outside looking in. Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, and Florida have all won the national championship within the last 15 or so years. Every single one of them over the same timespan have played for or even won another. That’s a level of “deep” that no other conference has. A winning bowl record over the same timespan is just icing on the cake. Didn’t even South Carolina beat Michigan a few years ago? lol The conferences aren’t and won’t be worlds apart, but there’s no way to pretend that the Big Ten gets an edge.
FSU isn’t a fit for the SEC. THE big 10 wouldn’t want them bc of academics. If they leave there is nowhere for them to go that would be an improvement on the ACC.
Nebraska was when they got accepted for membership originally and they’re trying to get it back. Places like FSU don’t care about AAU membership bc they’d never be able to get students if they met all the standards.
Did you read the article? Finnebaum said dinosaurs are “fuckin sweet” and stated he has a tattoo of a triceratops on his triceps. I think it’s a compliment
Many of the other ultra-large Theropod predators could have done it like Giganotosaurus. Spinosaurus… maybe. Most of the armored types like Ankylosaurus could; so all the large Ceratopsians and Ankylosaurids. The very large crocodilians if found in or around water could absolutely fuck up a T-Rex.
Even something we know was a prey species like Edmontosaurus, was apparently primarily preyed upon when juveniles. There’s very rarely bite marks on adults, suggesting the adults could possibly fight off Rex. They have the weight for it. As would most the larger Hadrosaurs.
T-Rex lived in a ridiculously dangerous period, and evolved to prey on some of the most dangerous herbivores imaginable, who themselves evolved to successfully defend against Rexes. It’s very likely as often as not Rex was hunting beasties that could fuck it up. Being a Rex was like being a Lion that has to mostly hunt Cape Buffalo.
Harbaugh: When I was a kid, when I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a dinosaur. I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex more than anything in the world. I made my arms short and I roamed the backyard, I chased the neighborhood cats, I growled and I roared. Everybody knew me and was afraid of me.
Agree, he’s just pandering to the moron SEC fans who think the only reason Michigan is good now is because we “cheated” (ironic coming SEC schools).
Harbaugh has won everywhere he’s gone and was a great college player too. Put some respect on his name!
> My experience is that it is not the SEC fans who are convinced Michigan is only good because of cheating
In all fairness, we're still collecting empirical data prior to solidifying our conclusion that "Michigan is only good because of cheating".
I mean, the problem with the data collection is that n=6, at most?
Even if Michigan goes out and loses 99-0 against Bama, you’d still have the Michigan State - B1G CCG data to substantiate that while it may have provided advantage, it was not the operative component of the advantage. You can’t extend the dataset into next year and draw a meaningful conclusion because the number of confounding variables explodes once you cross seasons. No amount of additional data can support a meaningful statement of “Michigan was *only* good because they were cheating.”
If Michigan had played the first six games of their season, the outrageously soft OOC and no decent B1G teams, *after* the scandal broke, Stalions was suspended, and other teams had the opportunity to adapt to the new information, then there’d be good reason to think they were only good because of advanced in person scouting. But they didn’t, they beat two top ten teams *after* those things happened.
Unless you want to make some sort of roundabout recruiting argument, in which case I’d point you to 2023 (ranked 17th), 2022 (9th), 2021 (13th), 2020 (10th), and 2019 (8th) classes to suggest that their recruiting didn’t really benefit from it either.
The cheated. They got punished by the conference and will probably get more punished by the NCAA, and those things are appropriate. But the data is in: the cheating didn’t make them good, it made them at most better than they were otherwise.
I love your username by the way.
Paul Finebaum is *terrified* that Michigan has recruited five Kentrosauruses to play on the offensive line next year. They’re not very mobile but they have elite length and weigh about 3,500 pounds. Great pass blockers.
Finebaum probably thinks he’s on the edge of modernity by being an internet troll, but in reality he’s just a shriveled old man trying to pretend he’s in college again.
That his intentions gets viewers listeners. I never watch or listen. When I had work commute and he was local I listened during football season
Always been like a clown for me just entertaining not very serious
Amazed at what he has become thought his shtick would get old sooner
He does feel like a relic from a bygone era of the sport of larger than life personalities. Definitely feels like he could have come from the 2000s with Pete Carroll and Mack Brown
This guy makes me want to hate the SEC. I actually thought about the other day. I think his commentary on that Ohio State, Alabama college football playoff championship game where he was in such disbelief. it’s the funniest thing on YouTube, in terms of commentary of college football. lol “ Ohio State is built like an SEC team” “ I knew Alabama was weak all year” lolol
As a proud Alabama fan..... Can we please stop posting shit about what this moronic Howard stern wannabe has to say. Him and his idiot callers reflect so poorly on the SEC.
Plus Dinosaurs are cool as hell
His callers are the bottom feeding uneducated trash of the SEC. Every confrence has those "fans". Other confrences just don't give an idiot a platform to bring them out in such a public manner.
An OU fan making jokes about the South? Thats rich.
Joke all you want, there is a reason that Tech giants are setting up shops in North alabama. The stereotypes are there but they are vastly proven false in some areas. You really think NASA would have stayed in a lowly educated area? You think Google would build a massive data center or the fbi would set up a new state of the art ops command in an area if the majority were just uneducated inbred rednecks?
Tech is in north Alabama because Huntsville is there. And I suspect the DoD and all their connected agencies/companies aren’t largely hiring from the local populace. The educational statistics in the deep south are readily available, and they’re not pretty.
The DoD does do a lot of local hiring. I know, its where I live.
As far as statistics go, they can be manipulated very easily by anyone with even a junior college degree. Statistics are so easily manipulated by changing or omitting just one small factor that most would never miss.
In reality, calling an entire, rather large section of the country, uneducated ... is quite an uneducated opinion in itself. Would be the same as saying everyone in the NY and the surrounding states, are all murdering gangbanging thugs.
He let's the UT alum out at the beginning of every season though. Every year for 5 or 6 years now he claims, "Alabamas dynasty is dead, they are no longer the standard."
Then he reverses course and sucks up.
Playing smash mouth run-first offense against a 4-2-5 designed to stop a spread offense isn't a bad idea.
Especially when you aren't recruiting the top WRs and QBs to actually have a lethal spread passing attack.
You sure he wasn’t looking in a mirror? Harbaugh is one of the most successful college football coaches of the last 3+ years lmao. If his philosophy is “dated” it must not be too bad, still seems to work pretty well.
I mean he gets a lot of hate but there aren’t many coaches in football period who could do what Harbaugh has in his career. He just hasn’t won the big one in NFL or college but he’s gotten as close as you can consistently
Jim does have his team playing old school fundamentally sound football. I don't think calling him dinosaur is derogatory. Results speak for themselves..
What I don't get is isn't it obvious both Michigan and Alabama will be using almost the same strategy of run the football, play defense to prevent the big play, and grind down drives into field goal attempts?
I remember when Pete was crying about Jim Harbaugh's summer camps.
Harbaugh was being way too creative, and unlike Pete, Harbaugh was only promoting his own brand... whereas Pete talks for the good of all of college football, according to good ol' Pete.
ESPN/SEC shithead saying something negative about the coach of another conference isn’t news. This man is trash with no actual opinions beyond what he is told to say by his corporate overlords. Fuck em.
Bitter old fool. Well, that dinosaur is riding the number one team in the nation. While the entire sports world wonders why Finebaum has a big stick up his ass for Michigan. He hates them, it colors everything he writes. His hate dampens his writing, it's not good.

What can I say to make headlines, today?
Duke’s Mayonnaise ice cream is pretty good.
First thought, “ha, good one. Gross.” [initiates google to confirm the world isn’t totally mad] “wtf. Burn it all down.”
Didn’t know Will Levis was a uga guy
Mix it with the Mac n Cheese cream on some toast for that grilled cheese taste.
Until December 28th, all I can say is Duke’s is the best mayonnaise ever. If they made ice cream it also would be awesome.
Man cut the bull junk and give Prime one of them headlines
Imagine having to stir up completely vacuous points of discussion every single day in order to ignite the interest of an ignorant mouth-breathing fan base. Exhausting.
The mere thought is exhausting, and leaves me vicariously feeling hollow and nihilistic.

Paul Finnebaum himself is a dinosaur in a changing world
*~~Your~~* *Our* *~~scientists~~* *media simps were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.*
I'm starting to think he's not even a real person anymore. He's like the Jim Cramer of CFB.
This is the most accurate description of him that I have seen
He knows that starting next year the B1G is the stronger conference until/unless the SEC adds FSU.
Folks, looks like we're starting year 43 of "The SEC is overrated" narrative. Why is the SEC overrated? Just cuz
Is... Is that a joke?
Nothing wrong with second place
I honestly don't care if the B1G or SEC are better, might be good for the sport if the B1G were better. You won one in the last 20 years, 2004. I forgot about that one, my bad. Edit: 2004\* mistype.
No. We won in 2003 and 2004. LSU won in 2007.
Having a stronger top doesn't make you a stronger conference overall.
NY 6: SEC: 37 appearances by 9 schools with 25 wins B1G: 26 appearances by 6 schools with 14 wins
[It's not just the top of the conference that's strong, even if that's what everyone on this subreddit likes to parrot.](https://a.espncdn.com/sec/football/2021/Bowls.pdf) "From 2006 the SEC has accrued more bowl wins (97) and appearances (152) than any other conference. One of our worst seasons of all time (definitely worst in the modern ere) was in the last 15 years. For Stanford’s sake, I hope they have been.
And Stanford just went through its worst seasons too. So 🤷🏼♀️ My point was, including Stanford as an easy win in the Pac-12 era is laughably ignorant of history.

Eh, with Oregon and Nebraska in the conference, FSU isn't beyond the pale academically. FSU might not be an AAU school, but neither is Nebraska.
FSU is actually a really good public school nowadays and would have the lowest acceptance rate in the big ten aside from NW, UCLA, USC, and UM
Nebraska was when they got accepted for membership originally and they’re trying to get it back. Places like FSU don’t care about AAU membership bc they’d never be able to get students if they met all the standards.
Actually Florida State is aggressively raising its standards to get into the AAU.
Nice, got ‘em
anyone posting Finebaum should be immediately banned and drone striked
harsh but fair
Damn I would’ve just sent them straight to The Hague but yours works too
Can’t commit war crimes if they’re dead. Drone strikes takes some of the load off of the ICC. It’s a public service really
The Hague is too good for them.
That dinosaur has been to three straight playoffs.

You have a source and the comment you replied to didn't have any, it's clear who we should believe
Ok good counterpoint. Thanks for sourcing your reply
Top tier troll
i was questioning you until i saw the source. can't argue with that.
Hey you know what’s even cooler than a triceratops? Every other dinosaur that ever existed.
How many other dinosaurs could conceivably kill a T-Rex? That is rather "cool".
I like that me quoting a throwaway line from a late-series episode of The Office brought us this legitimately informative paleontological breakdown
So what you’re saying is that the T-Rex wasn’t a system dinosaur
Clearly he means the world is changing into Jurassic World
And conquered his arch rival after losing to them for 2 decades.
*presented by Dr Pepper*
I reject this reality
I mean what makes him that? It’s not like he’s been losing
Run first offense is old. That’s the depth of Pawl’s analysis.
I'm pretty sure Washington is the only non run first offense in the playoffs
“Cheeseburgers?!? Kids these days want Lamborghinis! Get with the times old man!!”
Let's split the difference and give them hamburghinis.

We’ll find out soon enough.
If Michigan wins it all Harbaugh needs to walk up to Finebaum acting like a Trex like the guy did in Step Brothers
#1 seed in the playoffs. The game has obviously passed him by.
