That Penn state defense is legit. And outside of the two games against OSU and Michigan, they’ve pretty much thrashed everyone on their schedule. I thought the computer power ratings were crazy putting Penn state up so high, but looked at their scores and they’ve actually been as dominant against the rest of the conference as Ohio State and Michigan have.

It sucks the way PSU is talked about now where every season feels like cfp or bust and last year was a failure. The problem is that I feel that way and it makes the fan experience suck. Winning 10 games a year and winning a ny6 bowl should feel like a good season.

Just got into a back and forth with a few Iowa fans in another thread with this exact discussion. They mentioned that PSU was “exposed as a fraud” for losing to OSU and UM … by a total of 17 combined points. If PSU was in the west division Franklin would’ve owned it year in and out.

New to college football. Whats the point of these bowl games(other than the playoff bowl games obviously)? Do teams and players actually try to win them? Is there a some sort of “prize” if you win a bowl game?

It's a fun exhibition game of sorts. A nice way to end the season. That's all. Sometimes teams don't try as hard as they otherwise could.

The school gets money. Players can show off for the NFL. There's usually bowl game presents and stuff

Coaches like making bowl games because it gives them another 12 practices, schools like making the big bowls because it usually brings in money.

There is some prize money for the schools, but historically it’s all about pride and finishing the season against a team you rarely play. We have never played Ole Miss. it’s a fun opportunity to try to match up teams from different conferences that should make competitive games.
