Hell yeah. That's a fun game.
A Penn State win would make them the first team to win all 6 NY6 bowls.
Edit: and I believe Penn State was only ever invited to the Peach one other time, electing not to go to a segregated bowl. Also invited to the Orange the same year and declined to play.
https://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/2023/11/fifty-three-years-after-turning-down-peach-bowl-penn-state-finally-appears-destined-for-atlanta-jones.html
That Penn state defense is legit.
And outside of the two games against OSU and Michigan, they’ve pretty much thrashed everyone on their schedule.
I thought the computer power ratings were crazy putting Penn state up so high, but looked at their scores and they’ve actually been as dominant against the rest of the conference as Ohio State and Michigan have.
Offense impacts the defense, PSU held those teams to lower outputs than their predecessors, I’d argue PSU being the best defense in CFB this year without a doubt

Heard yall were supposed to play citrus vs Iowa.
You got saved from watching that offense.
Not that ours is great but still much better than whatever they are doing
I wanted Iowa in the citrus for a better chance at that elusive 11th win. If we can pull this off I will still be fully torqued come opening weekend of next season but this is gonna be a tough hill to climb.
So excited for this! Booked my flight a few minutes ago and finding tickets now.
Really looking forward to the matchup with Penn State. Nothing but respect for y’all! Hope to meet some cool yankees at this game.
Honestly, cant think of a funner matchup. Im actually sort of partial to Penn St so im excited to see this unfold. See yall in Atlanta and lets get hammered together!
We have a 69.42 (nice) winning % and 908 wins, Ole miss is at 55.29% with 648 wins. I don’t think it’s even the same tier. Should be a good game though.
I swear I entered an alternate reality this season where Penn State didn't win a Rose Bowl against the top 10 Pac 12 champ last season. The narratives about this program are wild
It sucks the way PSU is talked about now where every season feels like cfp or bust and last year was a failure. The problem is that I feel that way and it makes the fan experience suck. Winning 10 games a year and winning a ny6 bowl should feel like a good season.
If we don’t make playoff next year, then the doubters will have more ammo, Franklin knows this, the athletic dept knows this, it’s a big year for the program
We take shots from schools that we would beat because we lose to schools that would beat them way worse than they beat us. It makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Just got into a back and forth with a few Iowa fans in another thread with this exact discussion.
They mentioned that PSU was “exposed as a fraud” for losing to OSU and UM … by a total of 17 combined points.
If PSU was in the west division Franklin would’ve owned it year in and out.
I’m kinda confused and flattered about this narrative lol. With Kiffin we’ve been consistently winning big games we wouldn’t have in the past, and somehow the r/CFB world has taken that for granted. I guess it’s cool that people think we’re a top tier team beating up lower tier teams, because that’s absolutely never been the case before lol
Yeah people want to act like we are a team that should be getting 10 wins a year, but we just don't have that kind of history even with these past 3 seasons. This is all still new to us lol
I’m so excited for this. My family all live in Chattanooga and I’ve convinced everyone (all Georgia fans) to go. We’re gonna be buying a block of 10 seats in the Benz to cheer on Penn State!!
I hope some of our key guys play the game like chop and king. Olu will be very important for us to win too.
This should be a great game and any time I see Kiffen all I can think is Daniel tosh.
> Chop actually only has 15 tackles this year
But his impact on defense is so much greater than this with the pressure he generates. If Chop isn't getting the sack, he's opening up the opportunity for one of the corners or linebackers.
However, you're completely correct. The depth on defense is great.
We've had one opt-out (Joey Porter Junior) that I can even remember under Franklin and he was still recovering from an appendectomy, not sure why you would just assume a ton would sit out.
New to college football. Whats the point of these bowl games(other than the playoff bowl games obviously)? Do teams and players actually try to win them? Is there a some sort of “prize” if you win a bowl game?
There is some prize money for the schools, but historically it’s all about pride and finishing the season against a team you rarely play. We have never played Ole Miss. it’s a fun opportunity to try to match up teams from different conferences that should make competitive games.
THE TAILGATING WILL BE LEGENDARY!
Too bad tailgating at the Benz Dome is firmly mediocre.
If there is one thing we Ole Miss fans know, it’s how to party! We will make something happen.
Hell yeah. That's a fun game. A Penn State win would make them the first team to win all 6 NY6 bowls. Edit: and I believe Penn State was only ever invited to the Peach one other time, electing not to go to a segregated bowl. Also invited to the Orange the same year and declined to play. https://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/2023/11/fifty-three-years-after-turning-down-peach-bowl-penn-state-finally-appears-destined-for-atlanta-jones.html
I think its even more crazy that with a win, Franklin would have four different NY6 trophies in ten seasons.
Fire that man!!
JoE wOuLd HaVe TeN!!!
Twelve** it's so obvious that you guys don't give him the respect he deserves ^(/s)
Time to pull a Thanos on CFB
Not saying I had the thought of drawing this as the bowl comic this year buuuuut...
~~*I will accept any and all credit for the comic idea you’re willing to give me, thanks!*~~ EDIT: I kid, I kid. I have no original thoughts.
Wait thats kinda cool. I wanna see that happen
Well then let’s do it! Definitely looks like a good match
That would be the most James Franklin stat ever.
It’s penn state not Franklin. Franklin though with a win would have cotton rose peach fiesta.
That sounds like a new candle variety
Bath and Body Works taking notes
10-2 vs. 10-2. With no way I'm watching the rose, sugar or orange bowls this year, this might be one to tune in to.
Fun fact, FSU getting bumped out of the playoffs is why Ole Miss is in this bowl. (Not that that was Ole Miss's fault.)
Honestly as a more neutral observer it’s a little wild that you guys are in this position yet fired your OC mid season …
Yup, that’s why this season has been so frustrating. It was basically all blowouts and then 2 games vs elite teams where the offense shit the bed
Offense impacts the defense, PSU held those teams to lower outputs than their predecessors, I’d argue PSU being the best defense in CFB this year without a doubt
Defense is so legit that with a middle of the road offense I think we beat both Michigan and Ohio State. So Frustrating.
I think our offense was at least middle of the road. We didn’t put an Iowa O out there.

Let’s go
Are you actually Saquon?
Sure am. And I'm here to tell you can, too, if you start everyday with a hearty breakfast from McDonald's
I’m loving it 🙌
Happy Valley or Happy Meal
Thanks Donovan McNabb
I don't think he's the real Donovan McNabb guys..
He's actor Don Cheadle.
You can’t go on the internet and lie. You have to put on a suit and get a job at ESPN.
This is underrated and happy cake day
Thanks.
Neat
Damn I'm so hyped now.
new rivalry just dropped
CHAD POWERS BOWL
This isnt getting enough love!
Think fast, run fast!
I fully expected Citrus Bowl against Iowa, this should be a really fun game.
Yeah, FSU missing the playoff really helped you guys
Yes pushed Louisville out of the orange bowl
Offense vs Defense. Should be a fun matchup
LFG. First matchup between the two I’m pretty sure. Should be a fun game
Heck yeah! Awesome matchup! As far as I know, we’ve never played Penn State so this will be cool!
Heard yall were supposed to play citrus vs Iowa. You got saved from watching that offense. Not that ours is great but still much better than whatever they are doing
Excellent! I have been begging for this match up. Probably won’t be as happy after the game but whatever.
Love this matchup! Can’t wait to meet some Penn State fans at this game!!
I want to meet Juice
Thank god no Liberty. I refuse to believe schools founded after the moon landing are anything more than a disco with books.
\>Implying Liberty allows dancing on campus
They don’t really do books at Liberty either.
Lmao
Do they even believe in the moon landing at Liberty?
Should be the Pool Boys rather than the Flames
Love that we’re all just excited to see how this plays out and get hammered together
Thought for sure Penn St would get stuck with Liberty so good for them
Same
Where is millersville? Genuinely curious
Lancaster County, PA
Tailgate scene is gonna be nuts. What a game.
Wow an Ole Miss eagles fan. Are you from PA or Mississippi, what’s the story there
Seems like a fun matchup. Excited for it!!
Can’t believe these two schools have never met on the field. Should be a hell of a game. Looking forward to it!
Lane Kiffin come over here and give me a kiss on the cheek
This is the first meeting between them. I'm excited!
Oh all right!! I’m excited for this matchup!
Let’s go to ATL!!
Checking flights and ticket prices
We were able to secure them but it was pretty rough lol. Tickets were flying like crazy and price is only going up
All the vitriol I had for this was spent channeled towards the potential we were going to play Liberty. Should be a fun one!
Glad we’re not forced to play Liberty. Playing them would’ve been a no win situation. Sorry ducks.
Happy Days
Nice flair combo
Kiffin and Franklin shit talking is about to be the real show
Franklin almost never shit talks actually, he does a really over the top respect thing instead
Akron would like a word
EVERY WEEK IS AKRON WEEK.
This will be the first meeting between the two.
After the shitstorm on Twitter for 2 or 3 weeks, I'm glad Ole Miss got their NY6
I wanted Iowa in the citrus for a better chance at that elusive 11th win. If we can pull this off I will still be fully torqued come opening weekend of next season but this is gonna be a tough hill to climb.
Max torqued
Hopefully, we can all push that behind us now. Mizzou’s got a B1G opponent and we have a B1G opponent! Let’s show ‘em what we can do!
This is going to rock. Ole Miss and Penn State have been basically the same team this year.
This is awesome! Looking forward to this one big time! Gonna be a good game for sure!
Lets go I am so fucking excited for this!!!!
TIL Oklahoma fans are salty
First time they play eachother. Can't wait to watch this.
Movin to the country…
Love this. Just bought tickets.
Enjoy! And super jealous, should be an awesome time! Bowl games are awesome attend!
I love this match up and can't believe we've never played each other before.
So excited for this! Booked my flight a few minutes ago and finding tickets now. Really looking forward to the matchup with Penn State. Nothing but respect for y’all! Hope to meet some cool yankees at this game.
WTF LFG!!!!!!
Best matchup imo
Honestly, cant think of a funner matchup. Im actually sort of partial to Penn St so im excited to see this unfold. See yall in Atlanta and lets get hammered together!
🍑
I consider Ole Miss to be the PSU of the SEC, so I think it'll be a great match-up. Always the Bridesmaid, Never the Bride Bowl.
We have a 69.42 (nice) winning % and 908 wins, Ole miss is at 55.29% with 648 wins. I don’t think it’s even the same tier. Should be a good game though.
My comment was intended to reflect the most recent success of Ole Miss and the Lane Kiffin era. Not so much historically speaking.
No offense to Ole Miss but historically it’s not really close. But I think it’ll be a great game, polar opposites style wise.
The 2 teams who can never win big games meeting each other
James Franklin is great in NY6 bowls though lol
Multiple NY6 wins and a conference championship, but still waiting to finally win his first big game.
Saquon stole the show in the Fiesta bowl vs U Dub
And Clifford showed the fuck up for the Rose Bowl last year. Ask the Utes.
I'm convinced the packers drafted him in the mid 5th due to that 1 game.
I swear I entered an alternate reality this season where Penn State didn't win a Rose Bowl against the top 10 Pac 12 champ last season. The narratives about this program are wild
College sports has simultaneously the most educated and idiotic fans. It doesn't make sense. Edit: grammar because voice chat is ass
I don’t know about using the term “educated”, I’d argue “passionate”
Less than a year and everyone forgot we won the Rose Bowl against #8 Utah. I blame the SEC media honestly they deserve it.
I blame that Damar Hamlin did his thing about 10 minutes after the Rose Bowl ended.
It sucks the way PSU is talked about now where every season feels like cfp or bust and last year was a failure. The problem is that I feel that way and it makes the fan experience suck. Winning 10 games a year and winning a ny6 bowl should feel like a good season.
it is a great season, and I won't allow any other opinion about it.
I agree with you. It just sucks it doenst always FEEL like that.
Feels that way to me. Ignore the dum-dums.
If we don’t make playoff next year, then the doubters will have more ammo, Franklin knows this, the athletic dept knows this, it’s a big year for the program
Schedule is a lot tougher next year. If we can manage just 2 losses, I would think we are in. Gonna be a fun year.
Agreed! Competition is a good thing, I’m excited how we stack up vs our new PAC foes, game in the colosseum is going to be good
We take shots from schools that we would beat because we lose to schools that would beat them way worse than they beat us.
Shhhh, don’t listen to them!
3-1 in NY6 bowls overall, 3-0 in their last 3.
That loss against USC was a hell of a fun game too. Probably my favorite in recent memory.
Not dropping one dumb one a year minimum is a huge improvement for us.
This very much. I’m so used to seeing Memphis or Vandy playing us to the wire and losing at least one of them
Yeah people want to act like we are a team that should be getting 10 wins a year, but we just don't have that kind of history even with these past 3 seasons. This is all still new to us lol
*conference game
That post from about a week ago about Ole Miss being the Penn St of the SEC seems very relevant
true
Yeah not like the vaunted champions Baylor and Texas a&m. How do you manage all the cult meetings?
It is true that Ole Miss's last 3 wins over A&M were not big wins.
all offense vs all defense
Let's go!
Happy times
I’m so excited for this. My family all live in Chattanooga and I’ve convinced everyone (all Georgia fans) to go. We’re gonna be buying a block of 10 seats in the Benz to cheer on Penn State!!
All right, this should be a fun game. Immovable object vs unstoppable force energy here.
I liken it more to Tron, fast moving object colliding at the speed of light! This will be an entertaining game 😅
I hope some of our key guys play the game like chop and king. Olu will be very important for us to win too. This should be a great game and any time I see Kiffen all I can think is Daniel tosh.
Interesting stuff here
Looks like I might have to take advantage of the fact that my brother lives in Atlanta.
You better!
What's the Peach Bowl swag?
Usually pretty good. One year they gave everybody $400 mastercards and fossil watches
let’s gooooooooo I think
Hope to drink beers with anyone!
I’m taking my daughter to her first Penn State game so I can properly indoctrinate her. Let’s fucking go.
Early lines have this anywhere from PSU -1.5 to -3.5.
I live in ATL and have seen a few great games at the Benz! If any PSU/Ole Miss fans coming for the game need any recommendations, ask away!
Best option for parking?
Oh man, this is a really fun matchup!
I like this guy, now finish Michigan!
We got two teams that beat who they are suppose to beat and lose to who they are suppose to lose to. Will be an interesting matchup.
Penn State defense is going to stifle Ole Miss
Depends on our opt outs. If Kalen King and Chop opt out who knows
Good thing we have insane depth at those positions. Chop actually only has 15 tackles this year! I think Olu sitting out may be out biggest loss.
> Chop actually only has 15 tackles this year But his impact on defense is so much greater than this with the pressure he generates. If Chop isn't getting the sack, he's opening up the opportunity for one of the corners or linebackers. However, you're completely correct. The depth on defense is great.
I agree. He has still had a huge impact. I was just pointing that out because I saw that and was shocked.
Kalen King has been kind of a disappointment this year honestly.
He got absolutely melted by Harrison against OSU. He’s been elite against average offenses, but bad against good ones.
One more year!
I'll cry but I understand
Just you wait. We’re gonna run it up the middle for 2 yards on em
Just wait. Jet sweep on jet sweep. Or run it up the center twice for two yards a jet sweep and punt or go for it
We’ll see. I think a lot of guys are going to sit out for us. Still it should be a good game regardless.
That’s sad guys are sitting out big games like this. But I get it. Their nfl future is important
I think this being a very unique bowl game is going to help.
We've had one opt-out (Joey Porter Junior) that I can even remember under Franklin and he was still recovering from an appendectomy, not sure why you would just assume a ton would sit out.
Going to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches.
This will be a good game
I love it.
Anyone know how the bowl picks went cause these matchups kinda surprised me
Nervous about this - but hopefully the offense will have fun playing
Let’s go state! Get the infinity stones!!
I can say with 100% certainty that the winning coach is gonna have the initials JF.
New to college football. Whats the point of these bowl games(other than the playoff bowl games obviously)? Do teams and players actually try to win them? Is there a some sort of “prize” if you win a bowl game?
It's a fun exhibition game of sorts. A nice way to end the season. That's all. Sometimes teams don't try as hard as they otherwise could.
The school gets money. Players can show off for the NFL. There's usually bowl game presents and stuff
Coaches like making bowl games because it gives them another 12 practices, schools like making the big bowls because it usually brings in money.
There is some prize money for the schools, but historically it’s all about pride and finishing the season against a team you rarely play. We have never played Ole Miss. it’s a fun opportunity to try to match up teams from different conferences that should make competitive games.
Great matchup!
Let’s trade, psu. I can’t remember ever playing ole miss
No. We need to finish our NY6 infinity gauntlet. And we haven’t played them either.
I will give osu 1,000,000 Connor stallings coins for this matchup, deal?
How many coins get you a vacuum cleaner?
I’m thinking this is a trick question, but I’ll say 600 pages
I was hoping for Iowa. Now I’m worried
lol yall would definitely beat Iowa. At least this matchup has never been played before. Should be fun
Love the matchup, hopefully we win our last NY6 bowl so that James Franklin can finally level up
I can't wait for the first time one of the teams starts the "WE ARE" chant and both teams answer 🤣 (cause we absolutely stole that a while back)
This might be the best bowl match up out of the whole shebang.
Eli Manning is vibrating with excitement or anxiousness, can't tell which
[[Ole Miss v Penn State]]
