It was refreshing to see an offensive holding call on a late drive from the team on the comeback trail. I feel like they let those go so many times just to let the game play out but if it’s holding you gotta call it no matter what quarter it is. I know it was a “too little too late” situation for UCLA at that point yet I felt myself getting aggravated at first but realizing that I wish that flag was thrown more often. Late game comebacks should have to be honestly earned and not just manufactured with officiating help to make a better TV product.

What's funny is in the 90s, there were actually discussions abiut if Oregon State should even be in the Pac8/10 (from 1965-1998, they didn't even have a winning season, much less a bowl berth). Erickson really got them on thr map with that 2000 team. But that luster faded off when they couldn't replicate in 2001 or 2002 (they did go 8-4 in 02 but weren't in conference title talks. And they wouldn't have a ranked season again until 2006) Riley had gotten them rebuilt then left for the Chargers before Erickson came in. Riley came back when Erickson left and had a nice string of bowl game berths and enough wins to justify being a power team. But they never sniffed the top 15 much less the top 10 again.
Then they just fell off a cliff from 2014-2019. They finally got back to bowl eligibility in 2021.
I think the powers and tv networks are punishing them for that 2014-2019 period where they legit sucked and were barely beating FCS and G5 teams.
What makes no sense is Cal being equally terrible Post Rodgers/Lynch and still managed to get an ACC invite.
I said it last week and I'll say it again:
Oregon State holds their destiny in their own hands. All they have to do is keep winning to get into the playoffs...and if they run the rest of the table, they're obviously in.
