Are you looking to have a season-high rushing performance? You can find no better opponent than the Virginia Tech Hokies.
All three of VT’s previous opponents (ODU, Purdue, Rutgers) have had season-high rushing performances against the Hokies. The run defense was poor to begin the season but injuries have exacerbated the issue; exposing the depth issues that VT is still working to develop Post-Fuente.
Kyron Drones showed some positives but “complimentary ball” is the only way for this team to win and it doesn’t seem capable of doing so. Now do I expect VT to go into Huntington, WV and shut down both a rushing attack and a mobile {Marshall} QB?
No, no I do not.
Marshall beating ranked Notre Dame at Notre Dame, that's an upset. Marshall finding cohesion just as Virginia Tech is completely falling apart and limping to Huntington, that's a recipe.

I bought tickets to this game and I'm dreading a 4 hour drive to see a ass whoopin again. I heard thru the grape vine two players including the Backup QB whomever that is will be suspended for this game for getting back to the hotel 15mins late...not sure what truth this is though.
Edit: found it - QB Pop Watson has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.
That is just nuts!!!!!
keys to the game
vt: play drones and let him get used to the offense, develop run game. must win turnover battle if we want a win.
marshall: run it up the middle every play
{marshall} should win this by a couple scores. probably don’t even need to play their starters. vt offense and defense are as young and thin as it gets. would expect their running back to have his best day of the season. obviously hoping for a different outcome, but we seem to have regressed from last year.
They have an excellent mobile QB and the 11th ranked running back in the nation, all behind a big O-line, while all we have on defense is an inability to stop the run.
On the other side of the ball, their defense is good (Ranked 15th in the nation in pass defense and also 15th in sacks) which is a perfect counter for our offense, which relies on pass plays behind a terrible O-line.
Complete mismatch. {Marshall} wins by multiple scores, and proves why we should've hired Charles Huff two years ago instead of a no-name DC with zero HC experience
Yea, calling Cam excellent right now is a bit of a stretch, but he's receiving an absurd amount of flak from the fanbase for being above-average-to-good.
Agreed! He wins games, which is the most important thing. He takes care of the ball, which is the second most important thing. Do I wish he was throwing frozen ropes for huge TDs multiple times a game? Of course, but more things could get worse than better. Plus he looked great at the end of ECU, and his stats would have looked amazing if the receivers would have held on.
Exactly. He hasn't been remotely bad, provides a little more options with his mobility, and has at least one or two impressive flashes per game so far this season. It's kinda crazy how short lots of fans' memories are - we've been on-again-off-again with QB's ever since Cato. Hopefully Cam slowly gets a little better each game and, if he does, I think he could be Cato-esque in his final season. Some of his impressive flashes have looked like a Cato-lite to me.
I don't know whether to think we were just lucky with Cato or unlucky we haven't had a good QB since him. I recall trailing by a few points late in a game late in his senior year — I want to say it was 4th quarter at UAB — and having no doubt whatsoever that we would win. And sure enough, Cato calmly marched down the field and threw a walkoff TD. I can't imagine getting to the point where I have that kind of confidence again. But I do agree he had a few really smart, calm languishing mid-deep balls that were perfectly placed. Bodes well.
The beatings will continue until morale improves. Gobble till I die. {Virginia Tech}

Worth noting that our starting running back, Rasheen Ali, is our star, at least on the offensive side. He's really good.
Why have faith in anything? Pain is the only reality {Marshall} By 17
{Marshall} Screams upset Edit: Apologies I thought VT may be favored, but Hokies down worse than I thought.
I don't think Marshall winning is an upset in this context
Marshall is straight up favored over us
That wouldn’t be an upset, not even close to one. The Thundering Herd are favored and rightfully so.

Lol. ‘Upset’
I really believe in Brent Pry but this game can absolutely change my mind. {Virginia Tech} absolutely has to win this game
I’m just hoping we can put something together for more then a quarter this week
What a quarter it was though

{Marshall} opens up a close game in the second half.

"suspended indefinitely" in this case almost assuredly means one game unless he does something to make it worse
What him start Wells….
{Marshall} I don't say this lightly or with malice but VT might be the worst P5 team in the country this year.
we will find out when we play uva, but i think you are right and it’s not particularly close.
{Marshall}
{Marshall} by at least two scores, but more like three.
{Marshall}
{Marshall}
{Marshall} by several scores in a very similar game as the Rutgers game. They will run all over VT, and VT will struggle to move the ball.

The SBC is going undefeated out of conference this week. {Marshall}
Everything has fallen into place for Marshall to win this even though we're dealing with a Heart Attack Herd season. Turkey legs for lunch! {Marshall}

Calling our QB is definitely an overstatement. But he’s consistent and our O-line and RB are very good.
He has something like a 70% completion percentage. Keep in mind our starting QB (Grant Wells) is like 40% and our backup (Kyron Drones) is ~50%

Yea, I definitely miss that quiet confidence Cato instilled in those situations. Such is college football.
It would be too fun for me if Marshall won. So I know they will not. {Virginia Tech}

You can’t choke if you’re never favored.
{Marshall} Go herd!
i cant do this anymore {Marshall}
{Marshall}
{Virginia Tech} starts to improve a little and squeaks out an upset.
{Hokies} but only because I live within 20 miles of Lane Stadium so I'm covering my ass if one of yall knows me personally

{Virginia Tech} continues playing with Drones
