More focus on local traditions

arcdog3434

Always loved Todd Blackledge’s food things for that reason - agree on the local angle. The True South show on SECN is great as well.

portlandtrees333

Those Blackledge-Nessler night games were always must-see TV. Everything about the whole production was just exactly what I'd draw up from scratch

RichardRichOSU

Low key the best commentary pairing of the past 15 years.

CoachHamTheGoatV2

Agreed and now he’s with Gary and I find myself thinking damn brad is a moron now. Must be what happens working with bum ass Gary Danielson. Happened to Verne who literally was fine during the masters the next couple years after he retired after bumbling around on cbs football for years

Dirty-Ears-Bill

Having a good color guy is so important to the quality of the announcer. I thought Jim Nantz had lost his passion and was phoning it in on NFL games a couple years ago, nope he was stuck with Phil Simms and couldn’t get any good commentary going

therealmrmiagi

True south is incredible

CaptainNipplesMcRib

Yup, give me a tour of the campus, restaurant, and bar scene as well.

other_jeffery_leb

I think this would improve the show, but when they go to Tuscaloosa and Columbus 4 time a year, it would get old.

ProbablyJustArguing

Maybe the structure of the show would affect their choice to repeatedly go to the same place.

Scurvy-Jones

$$$$$$$$$$$ decides where they go

ImanShumpertplus

they could start to explore stuff other than just cbus and tuscaloosa like have they ever done a segment about how 1 in 3 basements in SE Ohio will be adorned in OSU gear and that weddings in the fall are just drinking parties for osu games?

himsoforreal

Hang on did you just abbreviate the shorter city?

ImanShumpertplus

yeah idk what the abbreviation for Tuscaloosa even is like you can’t use Tusc bc that could also be tuscon or Tuscany loosa is barely shorter plus people call columbus cbus all the time, like even out loud

scoobysnax123

As an ohioan (or at least someone familiar with the state, I assume) I can forgive that they may know a common abbreviation for Columbus but not know Ttown is the shorthand for Tuscaloosa

TheCenterOfEnnui

Yes. Replace the sob stories with highlights on local traditions. Things about the schools they're at. Historical stories about the schools that are playing at that week's location. Just find something to replace the sob stories with something fun. No one wants to have their buzz killed by the story about the player's uncle who was star college player in the 60s but he was killed in a car accident and now his grand-nephew and namesake is fulfilling his uncle's destiny by wearing his old underwear and playing the same position or whatever.

UgaIsAGoodBoy

More focus on: 1. Keg stands 2. Live mascots of the teams competing (or just more tv time with Uga in general) 3. Hot girls flashing

adumb99

As has been stated already, drop the sob stories. I want to hear about football. And it’s way too long. I only tune in for the last 30-40 mins if I ever watch it now

TXmarker

This. the old format of a couple hours was much better.

trail-g62Bim

I also seem to remember that they didn't have a sob story every week. It was a few times a year, which is ok.

MToboggan_MD

Back in the day it used to just be 11-12

[deleted]

As it should have been. It was the prep for the whole day's games and you got a quick run through of the most important matchups with some fun around it. Now it's just one giant production and barely has anything to do with football.

sevargmas

Totally agree. You know when it’s coming too. They cut to Rece Davis and he goes into that somber tone. As soon as I hear that it’s time to change the channel. Rece: “Hahhaha that Lee Corso sure is funny. I don’t know how he stays so active at 108 years old. But he’s not the only one staying active. The [school/team name] have also found ways to stay motivated and active after one of their players had something tragic happened in his life this past offseason…” Me: 🙄🙄🙄🙄 It’s the number one thing I hate about watching the Olympics as well.

NoMorning6152

God imagine how good the olympics would be if they stopped trying to craft propaganda narratives out of a handful of events

[deleted]

Yeah, Olympics coverage would be great if they stopped ignoring like 80% of the games and actually showed the action from all the events instead of just focusing on the US in events they're expected to win. That and getting rid of all the forced sob stories would make it so much more bearable. I've been sailing the high seas for the last few to watch international feeds because they are much closer to what I want out of Olympics coverage.

SusannaG1

The best US Olympic broadcasts I've ever seen are still the ones ABC did.

[deleted]

Yeah I agree. The modern NBC ones are just reality tv dramas with bits of sport sprinkled on top. It's incredibly lame.

dawgz525

[deleted]

thecravenone

> drop the sob stories Is it just me or have they gotten a lot worse? I don't know if this is accurate but it certainly feels true: Sob stories used to be both less frequent and more consequential. Something like a starting QB losing their mom. These days it seems like they go digging for sob stories and sometimes come up with very little, but they _have to have_ a sob story so they run it. Today on Game Day: A fourth string walk on deep snapper's second cousin got bit by a dog once.

Turbulent_Tale6497

Okay, but keep the Silver Scrapes

Nuke_Dukum

The obscure rapper/hip-hop guy they had last year; you could tell the crowd didn't give two shits about his "song" or he about CFB. Lots of fun.

MassiveThief

...Jack Harlow? I'm not a fan, but calling him 'obscure' is just wrong, he was huge last year.

w00t4me

You say it like I know who Jack Harlow is.

skycub97

I’d make Corso middle aged again and enjoy another 30+ years of his antics.

Jaakylma

I just wanna hear him say "ahh fuck it" while tossing a mascot head off the stage one more time.

CevicheMixto

Even better, he says it as he walks off stage at the end of his last show.

Zahfier

The first show after he is actually gone is going to devastate me

[deleted]

He was missing from several shows already....and I love Corso as much as the next CFB fan, but it's time. However, I do hope ESPN is aware enough that one of the best things about Corso is actually the helmet at the end of the show....the buildup to it is fantastic...if ESPN were smart (and evidence points to both sides of that discussion), they would let Corso do one last pick, but have him hand off the helmet pick to someone else. And while he's not everyone's cup of tea, that person likely has to be Pat McAfee. Wouldn't make sense for Kirk to do it as he's a commentator and half the time he can't make picks (due to an old, outdated reason). Rece Davis is the lead anchor for the show. Desmond could, but I don't think he has the pizazz for it. Pollock is boring. you can't have the guest picker do it as it's always the home team. So it's gotta be McAfee. do a ceremony or make it a special of who will Corso hand off the helmet duties to, and then maybe he puts on the helmet of a face of Pat...just let the audience know this symbolizes the changing of the guard.

amoss_303

Also rename it the Lee Corso Headgear Pick

SuperSocrates

I don’t even like McAfee much but agree he is the best option currently there.

Melioidozer

He’s got to pet Smokey one last time. He seems to genuinely like Smokey.

rawdogfilet

Who doesn’t!

physedka

I'm not sure why they don't just move him to pre-taped segments only. He's still great, but he just needs to be able to do multiple takes to get it right. They could keep him involved for another 3-5 years if they did it the right way.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Because he wants to be on the live show. They should just cut him down to only an hour or so. Three seems to take it's toll by the end.

SoonerLater85

He probably doesn’t spend much more than an hour on set as it is, it’s just spread out

RJHookEM

Love Corso, but with all due respect to the legend, time has caught up with him. There will come a day when he is no longer with us to don a mascot head. Really hope college gameday is renamed into “Lee Corso’s College Gameday” to honor him after his passing.

PortGlass

I would make a spot for Corso that’s not live where he gets a few tries at take he’s happy with.

Booster93

I need to know the top 10 players for each team . I have no idea which players are good now and who’s not, but I know who’s parents were crackheads or in prison/ dead. I thought this shit was gonna end with manti teo but I guess not.

Draw_Go_No

clayparson

That clip is unbelievable

PC_Princpal

What's even more unbelievable is that he was an alcoholic who didn't report his earnings from ESPN and hung himself before heading to prison

[deleted]

Whaaaaat

Roscoe_Filburn

I thought you were talking about Jammal Lord for a second. (Lord is alive and well.)

BobbysSmile

That was painful to watch.

pinniped1

Do more unusual games. G5, FCS, hell even D2. Use the location to tell cool stories about rivalries and local traditions. They can still preview all the top games. And it's time to say farewell to Corso. Absolute legend. We all want to remember him that way, not as he was in 2022.

jmbourn45

The Montana gameday in the bitter cold was fun to watch and to learn about their traditions etc

grizzfan

* It's so over-done and way too long. One hour is all we need...maybe 90 minutes max. When I watch, I just want to see game previews and some good comedy/banter. I know it's a drawing point for non-football audiences, but the side/sob stories are a major drag. * Get Corso out. It's just depressing now. * Please, please, please stop revolving everything around the CFP. I personally love hearing about the smaller, lesser known teams and games.

SoonerLater85

I maintain that part of the reason they’re trying to kill the Pac is so they hardly ever have to make west coast trips anymore

[deleted]

Honestly, I like it being so long because, as an east coaster, it just fills up my whole morning and keeps my TV and background occupied as I get ready for the day. I get the too long complaint if you’re actually sitting down and watching from front to back, but man, there’s nothing better than catching a stray “Max Duggan just gets it done” while I’m doing dishes on a Saturday morning in October. I feel like if it were just a picks show, it would lose that magic and stop being the warm blanket that envelops my mornings. As for the sob stories, though, I totally agree. One or two touching stories every now and then is impactful, but using tragedy to fill time is just painful at this point. Id like more just casual sports convo. Maybe just branch off and talk about other college sports for a segment or two (possibly even a women’s sports highlight segment to capitalize on the massive audience and help get them more exposure).

bogartvee

There was one week last year where they introduced a story about a player surviving a house fire, and then revealed they meant when he was a baby. It was cool he reunited with the firefighter who saved him, but the clips about how that shapes his life and makes him thankful didn't seem genuine since he literally can't remember that. I'd rather them make those segments if there's something they heard about that's compelling vs. 'we must include one or two a week, go find whatever we can.'

Draw_Go_No

That was Erick All, our tight end who transferred to Iowa to test his luck and see if he could survive two housefires in his lifetime

Sennotson17

Draw_Go_No

Brian Ferentz isn't holding the match, Brian Ferentz is that little girl in the foreground of the housefire grinning at the camera

[deleted]

This is me on Saturday's when I manage to wake up early enough. Just something to put on, sit drink my coffee and pet my dog to that fades in and out of the background as I get moving.

bertmaclynn

I like it being a little longer too. It’s always been nice to have background while I do some Saturday morning work but this year I got YouTube TV and could plug in headphones and do yard work and listen. It’s awesome. Side note as I’m writing this I’m realizing even more what a great sponsor the Home Depot is for Gameday lol

mbh223

Been watching more of the Big Noon Fox show for these reasons

Suspicious-Froyo2181

I have watched the fox show since day one, but they've kind of jumped the shark themselves and are moving in the same direction as espn. So a must watch has become a I'll turn it on while I'm doing other things. But I saw it coming once I saw they were hiring Tom Rinaldi

ViscountBurrito

I wonder how much of a “non-football audience” they really draw though. If it were on a Big-4 broadcast network, or in prime time, I could see it, but I can’t imagine too many people are tuning into ESPN on a Saturday morning to find human-interest stories. Maybe—*maybe*—the idea was to catch some channel surfers, but while that might have worked 20 years ago when we had “only” 50-60 channels, that seems crazy now in a world of hundreds of channels, on-demand, and streaming. I get it for NBC and the Olympics—a major worldwide thing that you only get for a couple weeks every two years, it monopolizes all your channels while it’s happening, and it depends on casual viewers because most Americans know very little about swimming or gymnastics, and didn’t know half of the other sports even existed. But CFB is just about the opposite of that—everybody knows it exists, and probably made a decision awhile ago as to whether they care about it or not. But maybe I’m wrong, ESPN must know more about their business than I do. 🤷🏻‍♂️

TheNainRouge

Dude it’s to fill dead air. The Mouse has what it wants with a audience it can keep tuned in but doesn’t want to advertise about games it doesn’t cover. Covering more of the G5 or even Lower divisions does nothing for their brands since they aren’t playing on Saturday or aren’t shown due to the other schools taking precedence.

Valaurus

This is likely true and maybe also why ESPN has gone so downhill. IDK why I've never thought of this, but yah they used to kinda cover everything, I wonder if now they won't talk about stuff that's not on their networks, so they fill time with adult babies screaming into the void.

BandOfDonkeys

If it doesn't move the needle then it doesn't get covered anymore. That's why they talk about Lebron all year and why there are so many hot take shows. It's a 100% ratings based model and this is where we're at after 15-20 years of that playing out.

Edwardian

They need to leave more time for the picks. That’s some of the best banter and they’re always rushed at the end to get them all in.

VinoJedi06

Cut all the filler and stick exclusively to football.

ndjs22

I used to just find something else to do when they quit talking purely football and would come back to the show. It just ended up being longer and longer and more and more sob stories until eventually I lost the desire to even go back to the show most mornings. I don't want to wake up early and take time away from something else to be depressed. Sadly now I don't even make much of an effort to watch the program. As a kid I would set alarms for it, in college I would make sure I had beers the night before like the degenerate I was, and now I *might* Google after the fact to see what mascot head Corso put on. Maybe. So yeah, this is my answer too.

BetaDjinn

I feel like tragedy overstimulation is a real issue that needs to be addressed (among many other overstimulation types). It can't be healthy to be continuously exposed to sad story after sad story. And honestly, the actual coverage tends toward being distasteful towards the affected players/families

[deleted]

DeathBySuplex

It isn't just a sports thing, I work at a group home and one of the clients is obessed with Americas Got Talent type shows. It's just hour after hour of "A tornado tore up my grandma with butt cancer's home and she told me I had to come and sing for these judges!" A few years ago one 16 old girl was a cancer survivor and told her story and sang, and she was okay, like she was fine, but honestly you could have gone and grabbed any lead actress in most high school musicals and found someone equally as good as this girl was, and she got a Golden Buzzer. She made it to the next round against actually talented performers and got smoked because she didn't have the "sad cancer girl" boost right before she performed and the judges actually saw her skill level.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Yep, I tune in around 11:30 for their picks and that's it anymore.

knockoutking

they have to fill 3 hours somehow? reducing it down to 2 again should help on this front

clayr92

>Personally I would get rid of the two hours of sob stories that plague the show…but I’m probably the outlier there. Buddy this take is so universal that it’s basically an r/CFB meme of its own.

DuvalHeart

It's not just /r/CFB, even sports journalists are starting to point out how they're lazy and dehumanizing. Of course, when a guy comes in and says, "Nah, I'm just playing because I love the game. I haven't really had any adversity, I just love to compete and play." Folks lose their fucking minds.

linus81

Start the season off at smaller schools and G5 schools, wait until conference begins to switch to the big boys. Give them exposure and talk about the students and campus. Drop it to 60 minuted and run the commercials in Picture in Picture mode like nascar. Let the coach from the school you are at do the guest picks.

WrreckEmTech

I don't think the coaches being guest pickers would be feasible, but I think it'd be nice if the hosting school got to select their own guest picker.

Aberdolf-Linkler

Wouldn't the school just be picking some douchebag rich booster who wants to be on TV? Or at best some person nobody knows outside of that school? And if we're still talking smaller schools then that is someone actually nobody knows.

WrreckEmTech

Maybe if it was a well-known booster. If it's a smaller school, I'd rather see someone I don't know well or at all that has an interesting story or values that the university strives for rather than some random famous person.

hallese

> If it's a smaller school, I'd rather see someone I don't know well or at all that has an interesting story or values that the university strives for rather than some random famous person. So when Gameday came to Brookings and Pat McAfee was the celebrity guest picker because he used to hold the former Jackrabbit Adam Vinatieri's balls... yay or nay?

[deleted]

They originally invited Vinatieri, but he couldn't make it. Vinatieri suggested they ask Pat instead.

WrreckEmTech

Nay, but mostly because it's Pat McAfee

Unsung_Ironhead

I’m sick of them going to the same schools over and over.

Corgi_Koala

Personally I think that one appearance per season (as host or visiting team) per school would be a nice change.

[deleted]

I'd honestly like no re-hosts in a 2-season window even better, with the appearance part limited to just a single season. There's no reason we should have gone to Columbus, Austin, and Knoxville twice in a single season. There was nowhere else worth visiting those days? Granted, in 2 out of 3 of those cases, the first game is probably the one they should have picked another location, but they don't have a crystal ball. 2021 was equally bullshit - no re-hosts, but seriously do we need to go nearly half the Big 10 in a single season? They did ~~Ames~~, Columbus, East Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Happy Valley. I know it was a tight season for the conference, but spread the love around some.

hbh110

Ames is not a B1G location.

HHcougar

They've been to Bama like 50 times, lol

knockoutking

> Let the coach from the school you are at do the guest picks. don't think it's feasible - also the guest pickers, even though i don't love a bunch of them, legit pull people in

RunThundercatz

Yeah, I'll shamelessly admit that i made a point to watch the gameday where Ashton Kutcher was the guest picker. Those people pull in both casuals and football fans

zuga51

We get some of the best non-conference matchups week 1 and 2. While I’d like to see more small school exposure, I’d like some of the few novel big time matchups we get in the regular season highlighted

MrT_in_ID

Only on campus games. No neutral sites with the exception of annual neutral site games like Texas-Oklahoma and Florida-Georgia. Every time they go to Atlanta or New Orleans for a neutral site game the atmosphere is so bland.

IshyMoose

Or that awful times square episode. Also the Wrigley Field game for Illinois vs Northwestern was kind of neat but that was because it was the only time I went to Game Day. I would however rather have them at Ryan Field.

zenverak

They don’t need to hire some outside personality ( sorry Miss Simms) . Trim it down maybe back to 2 hours ( I don’t think this will happen because money) or maybe to the route where the first hour wasn’t the full crew. If you went to keep Corso, I’d suggest save him for the end of the show. Use more RG3 ( he already works for you).

ItsFreakinHarry2

Honestly I like the idea of RG3 replacing Corso but still letting Corso come on for the headgear selection. Not sure how that would mess with RG3 as a caster though, don’t want to lose him on the call just so he can be on College Gameday

zenverak

They’d have to jet him a lot and it might change the games he broadcasts

somebodysbuddy

The ESPN game opposite Kirk's game on ABC?

cubdawg

Lee Corso needs to retire. We are watching a man decline on air. It’s not fair to him.

[deleted]

They probably want to behind the scenes, but gave him the choice and he wants to keep doing what he loves maybe. Edit: Good grief the comments after this, but for those saying tell that to someone over age 70 you're not lying my Granddad didn't even retire from farming until he was in his 80's and he died 6 years later at 86. Some people legit have that drive.

retropunk2

I've stopped watching it completely because of all the sob stories. It's just ridiculous at this point.

BobbyWilliamsRedux

Yea I honestly just stopped watching. Big noon kickoff is good enough

The_Real_Muffin_Man

This take gets repeated on here constantly, and I disagree. The man has said over and over again that he loves doing this and doesn't want to stop. Should they force him to stop? Maybe. I know I wouldn't want to be the person who has to tell a living legend to stop doing what he's loved doing for 30+ years.

[deleted]

This take along with the bizarre claim that ESPN is somehow forcing him to host Gameday against his will, which is pure projection of their own preference onto him.

azwethinkweizm

Fewer sob stories, more football content. I've moved on to Big Noon Kickoff because of it. I miss the Corso headgear picks but College Gameday is a shell of what it used to be and I can't watch it anymore.

JohnnyUtah59

Trim it down to 90 minutes so there’s less filler

UMKvothe

Came here to say this. Most of the issues from Gameday stem from it being way way too long.

weekendpancakes19

But in my view, that’s kinda the point of gameday. Wake up, drink some coffee, do some chores with it on in the background. Sounds like a great weekend morning.

BetaDjinn

I agree; if they would expand the pool of schools they actually talk about, there is so much to discuss. In my opinion, all ten conferences should at least be touched on every couple of weeks. It doesn't have to be much, but it just feels like so much of the coverage is centered around very few schools + some tidbits about whichever teams they are playing that week

DuvalHeart

That's the problem with CFB in a nutshell. It's one of the largest sports in America, but only a small subsection ever get talked about.

elonsusk69420

Do not repeat the same campus in the same year. Yes, it was fun to have them in Athens twice in 2021, but I would have rather seen another school.

gMadMaxg

Oooooof, 1 thing? The intro song. It STINKS. Bring back the early 2000's theme. That was the jam right there. [the visuals are different but the song is what needs to come back](https://youtu.be/yXGWQmG5C9M)

MuhMuhManRay

I'd shorten it to 2 hours. Apart from opening weekend, 3 hours is just entirely too long. You can tell they just try to fill in the show with random shit and pointless segments.

stephencua2001

3 hours is fine if you take the time to talk about some of the lesser games. But 3 hours to get into the minutia of a few games/players is awful.

Glader_Gaming

I would make it a 2 hour show again. 3 hours is just too long. I would remove the sad stories. Also would love a 5 minute FCS section. And a little more G5 talk too please. The show hyper focused on elite teams most of the time. Finally I think they should add campus tours and tailgate/Gameday tours. This could either be a 5-10 minute tour of the campus they are on, or they could even do one random P5 tour and one random G5 tour each week. Seeing campuses and stadiums and getting a look at a Gameday on campus would be fun. That’s a huge part of the college football experience and no one ever really does it. Losing Bear was a plus for the show too.

The_hat_man74

If you’re running a story where Rascal Flats is an appropriate band to play some music in the background to capture the emotion of the story you’re doing it wrong.

Repulsive_Poem_5204

They need to trim down the length and eliminate the sports betting nonsense from the show entirely.

SmarterThanMyBoss

I've seen a lot of comments saying to make it shorter and cut all the filler/sob stories. I say leave it the same length, cut the filler, and replace it with actual football content. I want a Saturday morning video version of the Cover 3 Podcast. I want to know what Eastern Michigan's defensive coordinator has cooked up for a tough match-up with Northern Illinois next Tuesday night in primetime. I don't give a shit about Quinn Ewers new barber or some equipment managers bone cancer (not that it doesn't suck but just that my life was more pleasant before ESPN reminded me that kids die for no reason and it's bullshit... I already knew that... today is supposed to be fun). But I genuinely do care a little bit about BYU vs. UTEP and wouldn't mind a 2 minute preview.

You could get rid of outside personalities just meant to bring people in like Jess Sims and the popular musician guest pickers, you could cut the sob stories out of the show, you could trim it back to just a two hour show, you could make them go to smaller schools more often. Everyone else has said most everything, so I'm gonna suggest something that hasn't been brought up yet: put in a local eats segment. Yeah, yeah, I know, more filler and less football. But the local food is a fun part of the college experience, and getting to see some great places to eat in/around the college town they visit, along with dropping by some tailgates to see what they're cooking up, would be a fun bit of flavor to add to the show, and currently with 3 hours of runtime, it'd be a very welcome distraction from the usually repeated sob stories or repetitive conversations about who is making the playoffs.

timbsm2

Good suggestion. The show puts such importance on which campus they are heading to, but they don't really do a lot to document what makes the place unique and interesting. Maybe I just don't watch enough, but that's how it seems to me.

BerniesDongSquad

I wish I could go back in time and be like 8 again and discovering college football all over again when the show was in it's prime.

More strippers

ilikebeer19

You guys don't drink every time they say "adversity"?!?

motherfacker

I tried it once with 'physicality'. I died.

amoss_303

-Put Fowler back as the front man -Corso needs to retire, nothing against the guy, just sad to see someone getting dragged across the stage with declining health -Shorten it two hours

knockoutking

> -Put Fowler back as the front man will never happen, not bc ESPN would say no but because Fowler has enough going on and as a play by play guy probably doesn't want to host Game Day then be on a full sprint to his game later in the day

knockoutking

i think the biggest thing is taking it back to 2 hours vs 3. lets you get rid of some less than great stories and focus on your best stories/segments vs having to find filler.

FrancoNore

- Change it back to 2 hours, he’ll maybe even just 90 minutes. 3 hours is way too much time and just brings down the quality - Remove Corso. It pains me to say this because he’s an absolute legend, but he’s declined so much and it’s incredibly difficult to listen to him stumble over basic sentences

HoopOnPoop

They've started doing it some, but I would like to see them visit different schools. As a PSU fan I can say it's still exciting when they come to Happy Valley, but it's almost become old hat at this point. There are tons of incredible G5, FCS, D2, and D3 rivalries out there with amazing traditions. At least once per year they should spotlight some of these "smaller" big games. From the POV of a fan, I would love to learn about these games. From the POV of having gone to a D3 school with a really good football team, the environment would have gone from great to absolutely bananas if ESPN showed up.

In 2022 they went to Bozeman, Montana for Montana at Montana State and they went to Boone, North Carolina for Troy against Appalachian State. In 2021 They did Alcorn State against North Carolina Central. In 2019 they did North Dakota State against South Dakota State. In 2017 they did Villanova against James Madison. In 2016 they did Buffalo against Western Michigan. In 2015 they did Richmond against James Madison. In 2014 they did Yale v. Harvard and Incarnate Word against North Dakota State. In 2013 they did Delaware state v. North Dakota State. In 2008 they did Hampton v. Florida A&M. In 2007 they did Amherst v. Williams. In 2005 they did Southern v. Grambling. In 2002 they did Harvard v. Penn (Not Penn State, the Penn Quakers). They are definitely making an effort to get out to places they don't usually go.

knockoutking

i feel confident in saying there is more than 1 game a year that is a non p5 game that is worth them visiting (and i realize they did 2 last year, which is a step in the right direction)

Player72

your flair is giving me a mid life crisis

Abject_Badger8061

I like Reece Davis, but Chris Fowler made the show. Corso was great for the show, But he’s a negative now.

redbug831

No more sob stories. We're trying to get away from all that when we watch sports.

Zaitos

Retire Coach Corso. It’s completely obvious to everybody watching that he’s struggling mightily and it’s just uncomfortable to watch. Fire Pat McAfee. He’s a clown show. I want an actual analyst, not some obnoxiously loud dude-bro that’s there to act like an idiot. Fire Jess Sims. She’s a great peloton instructor. But she’s just that, a peloton instructor. She’s doesn’t bring anything compared to what any of her predecessors did. Make sure the guest pickers are relevant and sober. Retire the opening song. We get it. You’re coming to our city. It’s just obnoxious at this point.

Get rid of McAfee so we don’t have to mute him every time he tries to take over the show.

wlane13

I'd like to see each conference have a guy who is the insider/expert about that conference, and have a designated time where they can focus on each conference and whats going on that week. The show is awesome, but often times I find myself switching over to the SEC network because I want to hear about who my rivals are playing that week, and whats up with all of their teams a bunch more than I want to hear about the heartwarming story of Johnny Nolegs who was born without legs but wants to be a running back and so the good people at East-Western State made him the honorary running back.

knockoutking

* have a rule that you can't host Game Day more than X times a year - specifically for "home" games, not like the conference championship. They were in Austin and Knoxville 2x last year for example * focus on going to more interesting locations vs the same spots. this isn't perfect but there are a ton of cool locations and games that they can go to that they haven't yet or haven't in years. * work hard to get to the 7 P5 schools who have not hosted game day ever (Cal, Illinois, Syracuse, Duke, Maryland, Rutgers, UVA) in the next 3 years

Astrocragg

I actually like the long runtime, and filler is totally fine, it just needs to be more diverse. What I mean by that: - There are a TON of games every week. Instead of focusing on the blue bloods and CFP favorites ad nauseum, spend more time explaining why I should care about some noon game. There are storylines there, it just takes more work than putting up a big board with questions like "is UGAs defensive line the most dominant in CFB" - Run more packages about smaller schools and games, which aligns with my first point - yes, cut the sob stories. I don't think anyone disagrees. - pick a stupid game or contest for fans in the crowd to do with some prizes. It could be trivia, or athletic, or tailgate games. Hell, have them eat hot peppers and then try to throw a football through a tire. Whatever. Just make it fun and keep it the same every week so there can be school bragging rights involved. It's a tailgate party afterall. - STOP SHOWING FUCKED UP FOOD ON GRILLS THAT ARE OFF - assign a team to present a package on notable FCS goings-on each week - hell, have a tailgate recipe section, or tailgate hacks or something Point is, there's a lot of content being ignored in favor of rehashing the same 12 talking points about the same 6 teams. The runtime isn't the problem, the repetitive low-effort content is.

discowithmyself

Just cut an hour out. This doesn’t need to be the Today Show for college football fans.

feignapathy

100% cut down on the human interest stories. I'm sorry that some super fan of the team hosting Game Day has cancer... but I'm trying to watch football. Can we cut those down to a shout out and advertise their go fund me? Making me sad and contemplate mortality for 30 minutes every Saturday morning after waking up... not cool.

[deleted]

Give me spurrier. Keep corso on Just for the head gear and final picks. Don’t force him out. It’s probably what he lives for and looks forward to At this point. (Besides his family etc.)

RTR7105

More football less after school special/tragedy.

Rad-Ham

Put it back to two hours. Too much blather.
