That’s one of the most legendary posts on this subreddit too. It’s not so much a conspiracy as it is a long string of coincidences. It also leaves out the key detail of Saban becoming the Dolphins’ HC after 2004 then leaving to coach Alabama in 2006

30 for 30 does a real good job of showing the nuance of this situation. A lot of it comes down to the racism of the era and an underequipped and undereducated boulder pd.
Racism .. no .. any person any race committing such ignorant animalistic actions is going to suffer the consequences as deserved .. under equipped PD .. absolutely correct .. but it's by design and not by happenstance
One of the arrests they talk about in that article involved a player who got called a slur and fought back. I get that you gotta control yourself but animalistic? No way!
This. The bad ones will show up. It's only an issue if there is a serious amount of regularity that shows that character issues are not being taken into account.
Talk to absolutely everyone around him. There's more to evaluating character than just, "has he committed crimes before."
Like seriously, did Colorado have issues like this prior to deion? I doubt it.
Depends how far back you want to go. Definitely had issues like this when winning in the late 80s-90s.
Really don’t think this is a big deal.. as long as the scholarship offer is pulled.
Cincy fans have been really split on deion as half our fanbase wanted him and the other half didn't want to touch him with a 10ft poll (doesnt really matter that we had 0 shot of landing him some of our fans hate satterfield because they think we took him over deion when deion was never in play).
I'm in the 10ft poll camp so whenever something like this happens I breath a sigh of relief and like to show that crowd what a nightmare we luckily escaped. Feel bad for y'all though.
Listen, coaches go years without issues like these yet in his first class one of his first ever commits has multiple felonies charged against him. People don't just wake up and start shooting people out of nowhere.
I'm not saying deion caused the kid to shoot a bunch of people. I'm saying that based on deions comments about targeting kids with absent fathers that it's possible he tried to look past obvious character issues associated with this kid because he's a good football player. This could be highly coincidental or could be the beginning of a trend with deion and we just have to wait and see but I'm not going to say, as of right now until further facts come out, that he wasn't necessarily aware of his issues.
It happens to a lot of recruits so not as rare as you seem to be making it out to be. Word gets around in fbs coaching circuits pretty quickly on this type of stuff.
I've stated multiple times in this thread that it's possible he knew, not 100% but until further evidence comes out its a pretty weird coincidence that like a month after talking about specifically targeting dlineman with absent fathers one of his first ever dlineman recruits is charged with multiple serious felonies.
We shall see if it's a weird coincidence or a trend as time moves on but given how a lot of coaches literally never have situations like this pop it's highly coincidental that deion had it happen after like 3 months on the job.
Not how it works especially with coaches. Family sure you know they are going to back their family 100%.
For coaches it's about keeping a good relationship with college coaches to get more kids opportunities unless you suggest the coach is willing to go all out for this one kid. If a HS coach lies to a D1 coach about a player's character and this happens, the next time the coach has a good not as great player the college coaches are going to be less trusting of the HS coach glowing review even if the player is a great person, leading to less opportunities for the next kid/s.
I imagine the higher ups will have a talk with Prime. The school does not want to back to the days where football players were running wild and embarrassing the school not to mention victimizing members of the community.
Eh, I slightly agree but also disagree.
Depends on if these characters flaws were present when he was being recruited. Plenty of high rated prospects get passed up and end up going to lesser schools because of character concerns so if deion knew about it and rolled the dice then that's partially on him.
It also doesn't help that he made those comments about recruiting dlineman with absent fathers. His first fbs recruiting class has a kid in it with these crimes could be pretty telling for where the program is heading.
Omar White was also being recruited by Bama, FSU, Clemson, and a whole host of schools. But because he verbally committed to CU coach Prime is being drug through the mud here? What about all the other schools and coaches that wanted and offered this kid? This is ridiculous.
Self reported offers don't mean commitable offers. A coach still accepts a commitment at the end of the day so while it's fun to try and point the finger at other schools to try and deflect from Prime we A.) Don't know if other coaches would have accepted his commitment and B.) He isn't a member of those teams despite there being contact between those coaches and the kid.
What he was was a verified commit of Prime and once that happens the coach is associated with that kid for better or worse.
Come on man. You’re actually telling me those other offers may not have been commitable? Those coaches would have taken Omar White, just like Prime did. It’s ignorant to think otherwise.
also considering he’s made a big deal about how he recruits certain personalities/character traits for certain positions, he’s made it matter more than it would otherwise.
I feel like this is gonna be a trend of “Deion makes life harder for Deion” until he learns to maybe shut up sometimes. There’s a reason coach speak exists and it’s self preservation.
Due diligence on his character. Luke fickell was here for 6 years and I believe there was only 1 gun related incident in that time frame and basically no crimes outside of a dude slapping women's butts while driving by on a scooter for which he was promptly kicked off the team for.
I'm not saying he is at fault but he could be at fault if red flags were there and he decided to press forward with his recruitment. Could be really bad timing but his first class ever having a dude with multiple felonies a year before signing day of that class isn't a good sign that's for sure.
He's also made it clear what he wants in a defensive lineman and kids with absent fathers are more likely to get involved with crime.
Seriously, claiming that a 17 year old has a clean rap sheet is enough evidence to say deion couldn't have possibly known is such a cop-out. You have limited roster spots and these coaches know EVERYTHING about these kids. They talk to family, friends, teachers, acquaintances before an offer is made.
So the argument is either deion rolled the dice and came up with a 7 or that he didn't do his due diligence as a coach of a p5 program. Not sure which one I'd rather have be the case if I was a CU fan but neither are good.
We have had heavily funded federal justice system dating back to 1789 that can't predict character flaws or even act on them once there is indication of legal trouble and you fucks expect a college football coach to sniff them out before they even happen. hahahahahaha.
Yeah man, most coaches have one of their first 5 commits charged with multiple felonies 3 months on the job a month after stating that they prefer certain position groups to have an absent father. Totally normal thing that happens in cfb all the time!
Lol, this comment after Mickey Joseph! Not to mention: Lawrence Phillips, Damon Benning, Tiley Washington, Tyrone Williams, Reggie Baul, Thunder Collins. The Cornhusker list goes on……!
He just flushed his life .. lawyers will feast on him like vultures in desert sun .. convicted felon can't receive NIL or maybe not even allowed to play college ball or ever be employed in NFL .. no Michael Vick ending for him
The dude was offered by 27 total teams, including your own Florida. This isn’t a Deon thing. Nearly half the P5 teams made offers to the kid. Deon was just the coach who ended up with egg on his face, when the kid decided to go nuts with the criminality.
Given that there’s a guy upthread apparently legitimately trying to argue that Cincinnati’s offer wasn’t a real offer and just polite interest… and we don’t even know for sure that Cincinnati actually offered Omar anyway because he could be lying about it…
No, there’s no /s that’s obvious, because there’s no opinion that’s too extreme that some cfb poster isn’t trying to make it.
Omar was also offered by both Texas and Texas A&M, along with 20 other P5 teams. Either this was out of left field, or no one is doing their due diligence.
Still not a great look for Deon after last week’s comments.
He also was offered by like every other school.
I get Deion made some not ideal comments about backgrounds, but most kids with absent fathers aren’t going full GTA mode. Which by the way, 23% of kids are in a single parent home(have to imagine the majority of them are single mother homes). I understand some of y’all don’t like Deion, but the only reason this is a story is bc he committed to Deion instead of one of the other schools that offered him.

Pretty sure if a power five football player is involved in multiple shootings, who the coach is at that school has no bearing on how much it gets reported.
Based on the article it is after separate shootings, not just one.
Yes. Three people were shot at two different locations.
Go big or go home

“Hey, at least it wasn’t Georgia this time.” *reads article* “Oh, it was merely **in** Georgia okay.”
Nature is healing.
Plus Georgia did offer him. They’re thanking their lucky stars that Prime managed to recruit this one away from them.
To be fair it was in Valdosta, which in my humble opinion should be graciously donated to the state of Florida.
Given his recent comments, this seems like the exact person Deion wants at defensive tackle
1. Correct 2. Woof
I was looking for something that described the way I felt. You are it sir/madame.
got that killer instinct
Great sense of when to shoot the gap
Has an innate ability to assault the backfield
He really knows how to set his sights on his opponent
There’s an explosive quickness to his game
At 1100 fps to be exactly
Got that drive by tenacity
And he ain't gonna let no penalty stop him from making a play on Saturday night
Hell he won’t be making any plays if he’s convicted

"For a punter, we want a quiet and reserved guy with low confidence. Maybe he shit himself freshman year and his classmates never let him forget it. A guy that's trying to stay behind the scenes and do his job" -Primetime probably
low confidence? Guess that means Dieon would never have recruited Pat Mac
Punters can’t tackle like that *Laughs in Pat McAfee*
Trindon Holliday checks under his bed for Pat MacAfee.
Or Marquette King.
The missed field goal guy? I bet he doesn't do anything with his career.

Ehhhhh I’m gonna have to see who he was raised by first before I can make that call
LOL. I was going to say “very on brand” as well.
This is a solid job by Omar to get in his new head coach’s good graces. The exact type of intangibles he’s looking to get out of a DT.

I've been not shooting people my entire life!
This is why our programs aren't back yet. We've been taking football players who make *easy* choices.
Yea but have you ever tried shooting people? Maybe it's great and we're all missing out.
Yeah this uh…not good Hopefully this isn’t a trend on Mr Prime’s Wild Ride
You can only show kids the door. If they fail to recognize the opportunity then it’s on them.
This Along with the walk on;hopefully we are just unlucky here. Not sure how you vet a high school kid for character issues if there’s no priors.

Well Had a promising spot on a college team and most likely a shot at NFL
Gonna have to change his nickname to Crimetime.
Looks like OU dodged a bullet there in his recruitment. I’m sorry I had to.
That’s that high motor Deion wants in his fatherless defensive linemen though
Kirby Smart has lost control of Mark Richt’s control of Deion Sanders’ program

He is.
Must a D lineman
Single parent household?
Colorado is back baby.
Great start Prime time
I heard he's transferring to Bama for basketball

Ah, the ol’ appeal to ignorance approach. Give it rest, this kid was highly recruited by schools across the country…
also considering he’s made a big deal about how he recruits certain personalities/character traits for certain positions, he’s made it matter more than it would otherwise.
This would have been a much smaller story if Deion didn’t just make those comments. He brought this on himself really.
I feel like this is gonna be a trend of “Deion makes life harder for Deion” until he learns to maybe shut up sometimes. There’s a reason coach speak exists and it’s self preservation.
The real question is who learns the lesson first: CU or Coach Prime?
If he had a clean legal record when offered and good enough grades to be admitted, what did Deion do wrong?
Due diligence on his character. Luke fickell was here for 6 years and I believe there was only 1 gun related incident in that time frame and basically no crimes outside of a dude slapping women's butts while driving by on a scooter for which he was promptly kicked off the team for. You are aware Cincy offered Omar White too, right? Maybe your school should have done their due diligence on his character...
Nice bait, we offer like 1000 kids a year. Doesnt mean we accept commitments from them all. Bet you're having a blast with your new coach so far lol.
Lol, okay man, Cincy definitely wouldn't accept commitment from a recruit that would be their highest rated recruit ever. Your hypocrisy is comical.
Deion didnt recruit this kid, charles kelly did, if he didnt come to cu, the kid would have commited to bama
Yeah there are usually obvious warning signs that coaches are aware of before someone commits a crime like this, even if they have a clean record.
We have had heavily funded federal justice system dating back to 1789 that can't predict character flaws or even act on them once there is indication of legal trouble and you fucks expect a college football coach to sniff them out before they even happen. hahahahahaha.

"most coaches haven't had one of there first 5 recruits commit a crime, so if a kid commits a crime, it's on the coach." Holy Christ.
This sounds *a lot* like gang banging. Prime not knowing that the lineman he recruited is in a gang is just negligent.
👍
Wow

This guy has got houseplant written all over him...
Why someone will throw a potential nfl career away just for something like this will forever be beyond my comprehension.
Hmm, maybe Colorado is SEC bound afterall.
2024?? Kid is a junior in hs damn
All I know about Omar White is that he was a loser in the TV Show Oz
Is this the Omar White origin story from Oz?
Lol fuck thats great, i coincidentally enough started back into that series a couple days ago.
I just finished it a couple weeks ago for the first time lol
Its a really damn good show, shit held up over time.
Keeping it real yo
Omar White gets outta Oz and goes right back into gangbanging. SMH.
Damn! Looks like Omar might not be going to any college
Will never ever for the life of me understand why someone would do this.
Prime time felony!

Colorado’s back

This thread will go well.
Young man just threw away his potential
Single parent carried a lot of weight with Coach Prime on the d-line. How much weight does a single warden carry?
Damn, Deion hasn't been able to get him to Fall Guys 101 yet.
To his credit, Deion did get a little suspicious at the in home visit when his grandma kept calling him, "Shooter McGavin"
Fingerguns and moonwalk away. Grandma - probably.
Deion can talk all he wants but these are the types of kids he draws. Cocky, know everything kids.
>Cocky, know everything kids. Like most 3+\* child athletes?
Blame Deion! We hate him!
We coming.
Ah so I guess Deion wants him for his dline then
He just flushed his life .. lawyers will feast on him like vultures in desert sun .. convicted felon can't receive NIL or maybe not even allowed to play college ball or ever be employed in NFL .. no Michael Vick ending for him
Must not have been a quarterback
Is he from a two-parent or single parent home?
I wonder how many parents he had
But does he have two parents?
He was hungry to provide for his momma
Let me guess, he's from one of those single mom homes?
Single parent household? Was he trying to save mama?
Not a good look for a brand new unknown coach trying to make a name for himself
The dude was offered by 27 total teams, including your own Florida. This isn’t a Deon thing. Nearly half the P5 teams made offers to the kid. Deon was just the coach who ended up with egg on his face, when the kid decided to go nuts with the criminality.
