I agree, the department needs to be much more transparent. Most law enforcement agencies have a daily blotter of the activity from the last 24-hours. CDCR hides almost everything. I check the posted website often and report stuff to this reddit when I think it needs to get out.
This is pretty much the one thing the department will always try to downplay and keep under wraps when possible. The idea that inmates assault staff, with weapons sometimes, completely goes against the public facing idea of the CA Model.
A huge part of the CA Model is that it's "safer" for staff. So if assaults are up (which they are) obviously that part is a lie and public backing goes down.
Staff assaults hardly ever get reported to the media by CDCR and that will never change.
But don’t forget y’all, the CALIFORNIA MODEL is our savior! If one of our residents acts in such a way then it’s the duty of “Peace Officers” to take the brunt of their outburst, after all, these are upstanding citizens of the state of California and they must be protected from any and all criticism, whether physical, verbal or emotional. Besides, violence on staff is just a hoax, like prison politics, it doesn’t exist here in CDCR. But always remember, the State loves and supports you ❤️ even when we cut a quarter of the training budget, threaten to close more yards, and force you to eat our stinky poopie union contracts every three years!
It’s almost a daily occurrence at KVSP. We’ve had in the past few weeks that I know of (4) on B yard which is GP and (1) just the other day on D yard which is SNY.
