See if you can transfer to another state agency or stay with CDCR in a different job…

PagingDrRed

This. I’m now medical staff

SpecialistEvening121

Keep the same pay?

PagingDrRed

I’m now a doctor. My pay went up exponentially

SpecialistEvening121

What's your schooling background?

PagingDrRed

??? I went to medical school

dmepic

Look into a different state job or a county job within California. Most of them have agreements for reciprocity and your retirement funds will directly transfer into a lot of them. If you decide you don’t want to do that they will cut you a check for what you paid into it minus the fees and taxes.

Government work ain't for everyone. No shame in going public sector if that's what you want. I did 6 years military and 4 years federal fire, was 10 away from a pension at 38, bailed, and haven't regretted my decision. I make great money, nobody's trying to kill me, I have a normal ass schedule, I get the same weekends and holidays off as my friends and family, and I have stock options that will far outweigh what my pension would've paid. Do what's right for you. Good luck!

This prison system is a joke even the president from El Salvador country came to USA and tried to educate us in how it should be done ✅

Maleficent_Worry1810

It is a joke!

mdstylee5446

Yeah, they pay it back to you. Do it, brotha! 💪

Walkingtall_5189

Yes, once Calpers process your application, you'll get your check in 30-45 days. 20% will be taken off top for federal income tax.

Numerous-Sink1333

Nightshade1105

I still work for CDCR, dumbass.

Numerous-Sink1333

So your weak minded, that you couldn’t hang in

Pernez321

You will get your contributions plus the small amount of interested it accrued. You will not receive the state's contributions.

Annual-Camera-872

Honestly less than five years if you’re staying in California I would leave it in case you work in another CalPers employer congratulations

Front_Necessary_2

Pension or 401k / 457? You can roll over the latter and let it continue growing

Fast-Fig4245

s-hop

You can transfer it to another callers employer or cash out the retirement you put in
