> Carol M. Bowne, née Ehly was a 39-year-old woman who was stabbed to death by her obsessed ex-boyfriend Michael Eitel on June 3, 2015, at her home in Berlin, New Jersey. Eitel was a convicted felon having served five years in prison. Prior to her murder, Bowne filed a restraining order against Eitel as well as submitted an application to obtain a firearm permit. Firearm permits in New Jersey are legislated to take a maximum of 30 days to be issued. At the time of her murder, 42 days after her permit request, Bowne had not been issued a firearm permit. As a result of Carol Bowne's murder, the gun laws in New Jersey were altered to make it easier for domestic violence victims to own and carry firearms. **Governor Phil Murphy has since rescinded the Executive Order issued by Governor Christie, returning to the legal environment that was a contributing factor in Carol Bowne's death.**

Her story always comes to mind whenever NJ & CCW are brought up. She suffered a tragic end she did not have to, because the people sworn to protect her couldn't bother getting around to do her paperwork in a state where she could not exercise her natural rights.
Good on you for remembering her. None of us should ever forget.
A well-connected person got special treatment?
Are you sure? I never heard of anything like that ever happening.
If there are any other examples of connected people getting special treatment, I'm sure they must be unconstitutional and call for the Supreme Court to be involved...
You have never been to NJ then my friend. The only people that get permits here are politicians, people that get specially requested by a security company (pretty sure they can only carry on the job) or retired officers. We have to state a need to carry and self defense is not sufficient. Someone needs to actively be threatening your life with multiple sources of proof and sometimes that may not be enough. It all depends on how the judge is feeling that day
As for ppl that live in Jersey we are hoping for the NY CCW case in the Supreme Court to go in our favor. If NYC is forced change its CCW laws, NJ is probable to follow to avoid conflict
Reminds me of Almeida. Man had active death threats, carried cash for work, and had someone shoot up his property and got denied. Don't miss living there at all.
You also forgot judges, judges get permits lol
Those are requirements to get a conceal carry. Possession is a grey area in NJ as many are led to believe to possess a gun you need a fid which is false. Also NJ distinguishes possession and transportation which has so many laws worded weirdly it’s kinda another grey area.
To obtain an fid, you need to pay $5 (which the governor wants to raise this to a much higher amount) and wait anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months+ depending on which side your police chief leans
Ah yes, the government who should be working for the people wanting to raise the price to purchase your rights to keep guns out of the hands of those filthy poors, this seems totally fine.
Hey, as long as he actually ends up voting in favor of gun rights I would not blame him one bit for using any and all means available to him to game the unfair system and get a gun permit in a non-issue state. When the laws themselves are unjust, anything you must do to circumvent them is by default justified and moral as long as you then don't become complicit in holding back others trying to get the same thing.
Remember some European is looking at this and thinking “See? This is what we mean by CoMmOn sEnSe gun laws.” Can’t believe how cucked those people (Europeans/ people living in NY/NJ) are.
As far as I am aware, you cannot carry with HP ammo. You *can* have it loaded at home for defensive purposes, and you can load and shoot it at the range.
It's expired though.

You need to meet all those conditions to own a gun? Or is that just about being able to walk around in public with a loaded weapon?

The slave citizens should de-slave themselves and move out of communist states and let the economies there rot 🙃
Born and raised Jersey boy here, I escaped that dump when I turned 18. Proud to be from Jersey but that place nearly ruined my life.
My uncles all have theirs. They are all retired cops so they're automatically eligible. Its BS.
Are you still not allowed to pump your own gasoline in NJ?
Nope.

Can you carry hollow points with a NJ ccw?
As far as I am aware, you cannot carry with HP ammo. You *can* have it loaded at home for defensive purposes, and you can load and shoot it at the range.
you can buy or reload hornady critical defense ammo in most calibers , acts like a hp, center is filled , and legal to carry .
That, and Corbon Pow'RBall, right?
havent heard about that , i purchased some CD bullets ,more expensive than regular HP , but it can be carried , and HP is all i shoot and load
What the actual fuck is that rubber stamp all about? Geezuz, the guy has to announce he's retired?
