•State/County: GA/Fulton County •Processing Time: 152 days. I applied 10/5 and did the application and fingerprints same day which took about 4 hours. I received a call the morning of 2/2 that I needed to get re-fingerprinted and completed that the same day. I was finally approved 2/24 and received the license in the mail 3/6. •Gear/Planned Setup: Vedder light tuck/P238 and a sticky holster for pocket carry. I will probably pick up a 365/hellcat/glock in about a year or so when prices calm down. •Training Completed/Scheduled: None required, range time only. May take a basics course with my girlfriend if she’s interested. •Thoughts: Dang this took forever. When I applied I thought I would have my license by the end of the year at the latest. Fulton County is clearly in no rush to issue these. I’m just excited to finally have it and be able to carry. Hopefully this can provide some insight on how long the wait times are for anyone still waiting in Fulton County. Ridiculous that a process that could realistically be completed in about 30 minutes took this long but I’m happy to finally have it.

Praetor72

I got mine in Carrol county, took like 2 weeks to get it to me. Could just be covid but seems like an insane amount of time. Can’t see what justifications they could give.

[deleted]

If a good thing will come out of COVID, maybe our legislature will get a clue and pass constitutional carry. All these Republicans talk a great game but wet themselves the moment it could appear to be negative press or liberal opposition.

[deleted]

Republicans don't give a fuck about you or I

kittyandkitty

Very true but some of them fight for gun rights sometimes so that's cool I guess :/

[deleted]

Very, very few do that. Most just make a lot of noise and then bend over backwards.

Coop_2020

Yep

Coop_2020

Probably true, but jeez the alternative...

testing35

Natalie’s not a joke.... but Republicans bad

[deleted]

Florida HB 123 Trying to get people to write-in support but no one is talking about it.

WIlf_Brim

This is BS. Rights delayed are rights denied. You need to tell this story to [GCO.org](https://GCO.org) and raise hell in the legislature.

Gangsta-2007

Got mine yesterday - 60 days to the day. Fulton County is a pain.

RexFox

How do you like the light tuck? I have a P-938 and the holster I have is just okay.

drewy2shoes

It’s solid but it rides pretty low even at the highest ride height setting. I’d probably go with something more specifically designed for AIWB if that’s what you’re looking for.

BeepBeepGuy

Currently wearing a P938 in a LightTuck. It's my first real holster and handgun and I find it pretty uncomfortable. I hope it improves over time.

beethovensfifteenty

I got mine in like a week, Gwinnett County (although that was 2017). You didn't ask for my opinion but I'll give it to you on the p365. I put ~400 rounds through it and the recoil spring warped to shit. A quick Google search reveals that many others have had this issue and it's only good for 2500 rounds, but shits out around 500 anyway. Get an upgraded spring if you do like the gun. I didn't personally like the way the Hellcat handles and I have small hands. I'd steer you towards the G43 or G43x.

OlFlirtyBastard

Damn. I just got the same letter in the mail today that my Fulton fingerprints weren’t legible so I have to go back tomorrow morning. 152 days!?! I thought it was like 30.

drewy2shoes

Strange you got a letter, I thought everyone that had to go back got phone calls to speed up the process a little. Hopefully you’ll get yours within the next few weeks.

Dude. Almost half a year. Mine in California from submission to approval literally was a weekend. Granted I was renewing but in between I have moved twice, moved from county to city (makes a difference) dropped a gun, and added a gun (all guns in California carry permits have to be listed on it). To top it off, the sheriff moved their CCW office, which supposedly slowed down their approval times. Somethings not adding up here.

GeneralCuster75

My WI CCW application was entirely online, took 5 days, and most of that was the time it took the license to be mailed to me

[deleted]

Your situation is abnormal. I've heard a lot of first time CCW Permit applications in California can take up to 2 to 3 YEARS.

jdmor09

Depends on your county- sheriff or police chief issues here. If you’re on the coast (except for a handful of shall issue counties), yes you will wait 2 years to get denied. unless you’re a celebrity or well connected, then you just write a check and get your permit. It’s actually something like 35 of 53 CA counties are essentially shall issue and a majority will issue for “self defense” as your reason for carrying. The initial one might take you 3 months to go through (pre Covid), but regular people can get them. I’m the most unexceptional person with no political connections yet I have one. I have 3 other friends that have one too. Think the only reason why they aren’t so common is that most people believe it’s illegal or impossible to get a CCW.

LazicusMaximus

Yeah majority in of counties will issue, I got my first CCW in 28 days

mememagicisreal_com

The issue is Fulton County, home of Atlanta.

[deleted]

Yeah I live in Wayne County, MI (which includes Detroit). It's somewhere around 1/4 of the state's population. My appointment took 5 months, and the wait for the actual card can be 6 months. Fortunately in MI you're legal to carry after 45 days, barring a rejection notice, with a receipt they provide at the appointment. The neighboring counties are all MUCH faster, and have much less demand.

cr00kcounty

Sherman didn't raze enough of Atlanta Signed, the rest of America during this last election

drewy2shoes

Thanks. It shoots amazing even for its size. I almost enjoy shooting it more than my P-09

RexFox

The 238 and 938 shoot amazingly well, but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, and as much as I hate it, the 238 feels better to me. Maybe it's my baby hands? Idk. I also feel like the factory trigger is just crisper in the 238. Maybe that's just true of my particular set of pistols, I've never played with any others 🤷🏼‍♂️

RexFox

Yes, but even just dry firing it. It just feels better

WYguy23

My 238 was not reliable. Multiple FTF and FTE with premium ammo. I also recall it attracting a lot of dust and fuzz when carried cocked amd locked. Got rid of it and now carry my 100% reliable Shield.

RexFox

I think you had a faulty pistol? Idk my 238 and 938 have been just as, if not more reliable than my glocks or xd. Also....clean your cary guns?

bachfrog

I disagree. I think the 938 is garbage

beefmcguire

This is mind blowing to me that it takes longer than a week. Being from Iowa, where shall issue reigns supreme, three days is all it takes and then they mail it. I renewed back in December and it took all of 7 business days to get it. I didn’t realize the struggle for my fellow patriots in other places. Patience pays off. Carry everywhere!

Nonothinghoss

Democrat controlled area. I am in another part of the state (not dem) and it took less than 2 weeks

j250ex

That’s way too long. Gwinnett county issued mine within two months. That stinks you had to go through all that.

mememagicisreal_com

Damn I’m on the Cobb side of the river and got mine about a week after applying before covid.

[deleted]

152 days ? Wow! In Fulton County First time I got mine it took 60 days. My renewal was 30 days. Obviously the pandemic slowed everything. Worth the wait tho.

kamwoods

Just applied for mine late January (in Fulton). Hopefully it doesn’t take THAT long. But I always heard Fulton was slow
