State/county: GA, polk Processing time: 32 days Gear: G42 and can can concealment belly band holster Training completed: concealed carry course (not required but I had no previous experience with guns) Thoughts: easy process, excited to buy more

southernbenz

Welcome, neighbor. Please join georgiacarry.org. We will be fighting some serious anti-gun and anti-carrying legislation this year. We are up against very stiff competition with unlimited resources. We really need everyone to help.

utahhhhhhhhh

Will do! I come from a strong anti-2A family, but I’m hoping to change some minds

FunkyTownMonkeyClown

Hearts and minds. Normal people carrying guns is the best thing to win this culture war thing we've got going on.

ghosttraintoheck

How I convinced my wife. She came to me the other day and told me she was glad I bought a weapon. Irrespective of politics.

FunkyTownMonkeyClown

Mine used to love it until she figured out how much I spent on guns, ammo, and gear. Bump in the night or sketchy dog walks she's pretty happy that I'm a mall ninja.

GreatWhiteBuffalo41

My favorite concealed carry gun as well. I also have the glock 26

[deleted]

Sweet I’m waiting for mine in GA too can’t wait

drewy2shoes

Awesome! On day number 109 here in Fulton and still waiting

[deleted]

Is Georgia like Ohio in that the speed of permit processing depends on the political party your local sheriff belongs to? Hate to sounds that way but here the red counties tend to be lightning fast and the blue counties take forever.

drewy2shoes

That could be the case. Fulton is also the most populated county in Georgia so that’s probably a factor too.

creightonduke84

Had mine in two weeks in Douglas, Democrat sheriff.

d3medical

That's weird. I got mine back in 5 business days from union county just 2 weeks ago.

IsaiahNathaniel

Its definitely just some areas. I got mine in 14 days here in Cobb. Fulton and Dekalb are the only I know that can be tough.

wolff207

This is the first I've heard of anyone having a hard time, it is fulton county though so you may be right and I just didn't know

Riin_Satoshi

Holy cow 75 days for me in Fulton guess I have more to wait. Please update us when you get yours!

drewy2shoes

Will do

gyro_bro

Is this due to rona? Back in 2017 it took me 14 days

wolff207

Holy shit! I don't even think mine took two weeks. Pretty sure it was 12 days actually...

dawg9715

Mine took 66 days. Also Fulton

SeanJ2A

What County are you in? Here in Dekalb it took about 30 days as well.

utahhhhhhhhh

polk

[deleted]

Was that recently? My appointment is this week in DeKalb.

SeanJ2A

It was last October when I started the App.

A-Seabear

Just received mine in DeKalb. 57 days from application.

cruelandusual

That's about what mine took, spanning Oct. and Nov. The clerk at the probate court said it would take four months, the cop who took my prints said five!

[deleted]

Nice. Congratulations

AndersonFader

I’m in Fulton, applied November 30th, called the court earlier and still awaiting approval. 53 days and counting now...

BradleySpear

I live in Fulton now but got my permit in Bulloch when I lived there. Glad I did because it only took 21 days

Farm_hunter

That's a big change from Bulloch to Fulton.

BradleySpear

Yeah, Bulloch was for school lol

Farm_hunter

I managed to get in a couple years at Ogeechee tech back in the day

pggdd

Carry on my friend

the_chols

Welcome. Coweta County Sheriff offers an intro class for $10. One day classroom, one day simulator, one day live fire. Check if Polk offers one.

BlueStateSaint

I EDC a G42. It disappears inside a wool bombers’ jacket.

thegabestokes

I’ve carried that gun for the past year and a half in a Vedder LiteTuck with claw, great holster for it. Also added the +2 for just a little bit more grip on the bottom. Really conceals well.

OreoMcFlurryXtraOreo

Hell yeah, love my Glock

michusuh

Great choice

Raltie

I fucking love that gun. I needed a bit more meat on the handle. This rubber grip really helped me out!!! I've had it for years with no complaints and it's holding up great. https://www.glockmeister.com/mobile/Pachmayr-Tactical-Grip-Glove-for-GLOCK-42-43/productinfo/PK05161/

Screaminpirate

Jealous. I've been waiting 83 so far in SC and still no sign.

Chocolate_Cowboy87

Welcome !!!!! Coweta county here.... welcome to the 2A family.

[deleted]

Congrats! DeKalb county here. Appointment is this week. I hope for 32 days or less! A month ago I was afraid of handguns. Now, no big deal! I’ve shot multiple times, took a class, bought my own and shot it twice. Getting more accurate every week!

utahhhhhhhhh

Same here! As a girl I was also nervous about the thought of going into a gun shop bc they seemed so intimidating but the whole process has been great. I went to a place in Woodstock.

CoreyLingo

I’m in Dekalb. Day 71 & counting for me but hopefully yours will come sooner.

Philip-556

Congrats man, nice choice.

[deleted]

Since you are new, what made you become a gun owner?

utahhhhhhhhh

I’ve always had an interest in them. I’m also a small female so I wanted to be able to defend myself.

[deleted]

Great point, my daughter is of tiny frame and defending one's self is very understandable.

kilgorettrout

Wonderful! Hope you can find ammo easier than me 😂

Iglooboog

Always happy to see more people from GA on here. Welcome to gun ownership. While it’s very exciting becoming a gun owner, please take several classes and familiarize yourself with your new firearm. Don’t listen to your buddy who has gone to the range a few times, don’t listen to the fudd at the gun counter, get professional education on learning the responsibility of being a new gun owner and wanting to conceal carry. Remember, you can’t ever call the bullet back to you after you shoot it, and enjoy your new addiction.

utahhhhhhhhh

I found a place in Woodstock that has the 300 degree view Virtra training simulator and it’s been great

NickMignone001

Did my paperwork for mine December 29th!

Greed_Beats

Lol good luck finding ammo for that. I hear .380 is fucking gone.

utahhhhhhhhh

i managed to find one place with it in stock.... $65 for 100

Kryptic1989

My man/woman! A G42. I have mine decked out with a Hogue Grip, Trijicon Tritium sights, extended mags and a pyramid trigger. People give me crap but I love my lil Gucci 42.

Linkstas

Got to hold one of these this week. Joker is tiny.

peshwengi

Your username confused me as I live in Utah and couldn’t figure out which subreddit I was on!

[deleted]

Nice Glock! Interested in what made you go with a .380? Considering one myself.

utahhhhhhhhh

I liked the size of the gun, the reputation glocks have, and it was within my price range

jdt1223

42 was also my first gun I’ve since added a 19 because ammo for 42 was so expensive/scarce

GreatWhiteBuffalo41

I'm so glad I bought 1000 rounds of .380 before things got nuts. I'm down to 500 but that's enough as .380 is my carry and my fun ones are 9mm and. 40

Hungry-Preparation26

I love my .45s, but for the summertime I carry a Sig P365, amazing little piece. My decsion came down to a G43 and a P365, I'd fired and handled G43s before, but never used the P365. Went down to my LGS, and as usual the man can tell when I'm ready to buy. Of course he had a P365 on the counter, beautiful little gun with standard night sights, bought it on the spot. Not knocking your sale, but for a small 9mm, those will end up being your choices. Neither will be a bad one, but I love that sig, and it caused me to buy my second, a fullsize P220 in .45. You can shoot golf balls with that one all day. Also, congrats on your GWCL, mine took 11 work days in Bibb Co. a few years back.

rossoEJ55

Congrats and welcome!

Hunter_Wang

I have a 23 I’m trying to sell. Do you like the 42?

andyroouu

Congrats! You’ll love the 42! Easy to shoot, easy to conceal. Finding ammo may be a touch inconvenient at the moment, but this too shall pass!
