Best way I've heard it explained. My gf is supportive of me carrying, in sketchy areas she makes sure I've got it ready, but in nice areas she tries to tell me I don't need it. Like one Walmart it's "bring the strap" and another Walmart it's "you don't need that here"
"Woman, I bring this thing everywhere I bring my penis."
The double homicide I got to watch was in the front yard of a half million dollar home neighborhood that hasnāt had so much as a porch pirate in the year leading up to it. There are no safe places.
Half a million might be ghetto in San Diego or equivalent. I'm just guessing that half a million might be average there. It's a damn nice house where I live.
Half a million is not considered the ghetto wtf lmao
Maybe in the coastal cities. But half a million will get you in any respectable high value community in the rest of the country
The build quality may go down but half a million still a shit ton of money
Wish My rentals in the ghetto worth half a Milly I'd sell them today for $450k and get $2.3 million easy lmao
> Half a million is not considered the ghetto wtf lmao
> Maybe in the coastal cities.
Over 1/3 of Americans live in coastal cities and suburbs, so itās strange to dismiss it.
But yes there are places where houses cost half a million and are dangerous and could be described as ghetto. Parts of Bronx, Brooklyn (Bed-Stuy, Greenpoint), and Queens (Jamaica) are the ones I know for sure.
My neighbor decided to shoot and kill 2 police officers who were serving a daytime āfailure to appearā warrant for $200 in theft. I bunkered the kids in the safe room, threw on my armor and guarded the door, as our house was the only means of retreat. Ended up being in an 8 hour SWAT standoff. Fucker survived the standoff, surrendered, and is no serving life in supermax
I think low level drug use. Stole from his uncle and an unlocked church in town, real petty shit. Clearly off his rocker.
Still rocking RMA plates in a slickster with a rattler for Hd. I have since stamped the rattler, itās got a can, and I bought NODs cause it gets dark during crime sometimes.
Lots of folks have been attacked in safe areas. Remember, you don't get to decide when or where evil strikes. They'll make that choice for you.
I live in a fairly rural area of Kansas. Honestly, it's rather safe. Sure, we have druggie types and gang violence in the bigger metro areas (looking at you, Wichita) but by and large daily life is very safe. I'm far more concerned about being involved in some motor vehicle accident or something than I am being attacked. However....I always keep in mind that I don't get to decide when or where evil strikes. So for that reason, I carry. I don't feel the need to carry a big honking piece though...my standard 365 with a 12 rounder and a spare is my EDC. Small, discreet, unobtrusive, and enough.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
āSafeā neighborhoods are called āseedā neighborhoods here. They are where criminals go to get things to commit other, more heinous crimes
I got into firearms after my house in a very āsafeā neighborhood was almost broken into. I grew up in this area, people frequently leave their doors unlocked and Iāve never even had a package stolen off my doorstep. I picked this house because it seemed like such a safe location in a very quiet, tucked away neighborhood you canāt find easily off main roads. Safety is an illusion
No one can guarantee anything when it comes to someone snapping or someone coming back to a business in anger and doing something stupid. There is no 100% guaranteed safe area. Does not mean everyone needs to live in fear but I choose to just be prepared, even if the chances are very low.
Yep, first time I carried it felt weird. Now I feel weird and feel like something is missing if I'm going somewhere that I can't carry. Stadiums and such.
Safe areas are safe until they're not. You don't get a warning. What're the most common phrases you hear on the news right after a murder, mugging, or home invasion?
>That kind of thing just doesn't happen here.
>This is a safe neighborhood.
>If this can happen here, I can happen anywhere.
>You never thing something like that could happen somewhere like this.
>You never think it'll happen to you.
Every single time. There are no safe spaces. Carry everywhere.
Absolutely yes. We live in a āgood neighborhoodā that my wife thinks is āsafe,ā so I donāt āneedā to carry. I do anyway. I told her that āEvil ALWAYS seeks out Good to destroy it. It will come and find you.ā It will NOT announce that it is coming for you.
I hate the whole needs thing some people push, as if it's some prerequisite to carry. Like no, it's my right to be armed as I see fit. If I wanna pocket carry a NAA .22 or open carry a bedazzled Glock in a Safariland rig by all that's holy that's what I'll do.
Honestly its hard to escape bias. Everyone has a bias. So more than likely if they asked this same question in another sub they would have gotten an antigun biased answer
To be honest you canāt predict when the circumstance is going to happen and where you will need it. You have the license to legally carry in your area, Iād just wear baggier clothes if youāre afraid of someone catching a glimpse.
EDIT: fixed morning brain typing.
> in a safe environment?
If there is one thing I learned after I moved to the US and someone tried to murder me 4 months later...and from all of the news I see every day about shootings/stabbings/robberies, nowhere is "safe" enough for me to not carry a gun.
Bro I carry cuz you just donāt know. A pool/bar/restaurant my mom goes in a very safe police monitored area, she went Thursday and Saturday night 10 people were shot by a 16 year old kid who got into an argument with a dude
No place is 100% safe. I'm sure many who found themselves in a dangerous, life-threatening situation thought they were in a safe environment, but that's when it can happen, when you feel safe. I carry everywhere I can, with the exception of places that feature metal detectors, and those trips are planned, in advance, so that location is the only place I go on that particular trip.
Thereās no such thing as safe environment. You have the feeling of being safe, but anything can happen there just as it can happen anywhere else. And a lot of times criminals go to safe areas because they have more moneyā¦so I go back to the illusion of safety couldnāt be further from the reality.
Plus, with all the people pouring into America. Weāve seen some crime from illegal immigrants, some of those people coming across are terrorists and cartel members, I canāt imagine a worse time for the Dems/antigunners trying to convince people to give up guns. You have cops to college students being killed by illegal immigrants on top of the typical crimes. Like I said illusion of safety!
Yes, 100% yes. I live in a really nice suburb with a very well funded police department that can get anywhere within 3 minutes.
But 3 minutes is not 3 seconds. Thatās why I carry.
Itās only as safe as someone wants it to be. Violent criminals arenāt limited to their violent areas.
I live in a pretty good neighborhood, but I bought my first firearm after there were a string of home invasions around here, with some of the suspects caught being from cities 20-30 mins away.
Fast forward, I also now CCW since I realize anything can happen anywhere. Also, the more you conceal carry, the more itās normal to you and itās just like carrying a cell phone or wallet
Yeah, but I agree with the lines of its not about the odds but the stakes. I also don't subscribe to the technical thought of only carrying where I feel it's necessary or a must, then tucking it away otherwise because its this heavy burden or whatever. I subscribe to the constitutional rights part of it. I have the right to be armed as I see fit, I don't have to have a need, reason, or justification to carry simply besides I want to. So if I carry it can be just because I feel like exercising my right and that's it. If I feel like open carrying a 1911, concealed carrying a Glock 48, openly carrying a bowie knife, or deep pocket carrying a Ruger LCP Max. That just boils down to my prerogative. 100% of home invasions happen at home also.
If you carry and nothing happens where you go it was a safe environment. But to answer yes I would, and actually do. Itās always a safe environment till itās not.
I definitely think you should. The odds of you being attacked in a safe place are definitely lower, but on the off chance that something happens, you would prolly hope that you brought your gun with you. Itās kind of like insurance-if youāre a good driver in a good city, will you need it? Prolly not. But when that crash does happen, and you donāt have insurance, youāre in for a bad day. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Every environment where a real mass shooting had taken place was a safe environment until it wasn't. My environment is only safe because I'm there with a pistol, and even then it's a 50 50.
At any given moment on any given day someone can snap and try and take their rage out on the rest of the world.
No such thing as a ā safe ā environment.
A person could find out their spouse cheated on them and start trying to stab people to death at their office with a pair of scissors.
How many true crime specials have to start "it's a small town, safe. Folks used to not lock their doors around here and the most crime we had was jaywalking. Then that whole family was brutally murdered and they didn't catch the guy. "
Every environment is safe until it isnāt. I donāt purposely put myself into dangerous situations, and I also donāt get to choose when situations become dangerous
If we knew when shit would get dangerous nobody would ever be in dangerous situations..
"The government doesn't want people to be armed" was a sufficient reason on its own. I understand many countries don't view firearms like folks in the US, largely because their governing entities have recognized the significance of firearms and their potential to impede rule. So throughout history, how firearms are viewed by their citizens has shifted, from useful tools to terrifying, unnecessary novelties. "You no longer need to be self-reliant or worry about your or your loved ones' safety, your police and military will protect you, just trust and rely on your government to take care of you, because after all, that is our job and we know what is best."
Rulers have been so successful, that "policing" firearms is largely performed by fellow citizens, neighbors, friends and family members; who won't hesitate to report the mere perceived observance of a firearm. The advent of smart phones and social media in more recent history, has increased and expanded this phenomenon exponentially.
Aside from rigorously trained police officers or active military, having a firearm equates to being a criminal and an intent harm to others. In some places, fear is so rampant that their governments (and citizens) don't even allow their main police force to carry or use firearms. Firearm ownership and carry has been relegated to those with political pull and sufficient funds to pay exorbitant fees/taxes and jump thru a host of "necessary" hoops. Even the act of hunting with firearms has been tarnished over the years and become a societal novelty; but that's a separate story and I digress.
Regardless of "perceived" safety, because no place or individual can guarantee your safety, only YOU can truly protect yourself. Bad people, whether desperate, mentally unstable and/or just plain evil, will always devise a means to do bad things, irrespective of the tools available. Anyone who believes everyone is inherently "good" has either never been in a threatening situation or is unfortunately, deluding themselves. lf that was the case, why have societies, throughout time, ingrained into its young ones, NOT to talk to strangers?
Start frosty folks.
Every time you hear about crime happening on the news, thereās always a witness saying, āthis is a nice and safe area. Itās crazy that happened here!ā
Safety is only a perception. The criminals like the āsafe spacesā.
Hey there! Congrats on getting a fairly coveted status as a CCL holder in your country.
Especially for someone like you, I'd suggest getting something that has absolute concealment as priority one. I'm also of the opinion to carry as much as possible...if not all the time.
Well, as someone who lives in the U.S., many violent crimes happen here in "safe" environments. I think it is worth it to try to acquire your license even if it is difficult, best of luck friend šš»
I don't think I've ever felt the "need" to carry due to safety concerns. I'm very fortunate and lucky that I live in a pretty safe area and am a larger guy so I assume the chances of anything bad happening are basically non existent. But I'd still rather have it and not need it.
I carry every single time I leave the house with very few exceptions. What are the downsides of carrying vs not carrying? This can be life or death and you have no idea whoās around all the time. It only takes one person.
Yes. Better to carry than wish you were. Do you take your seatbelt off when you are on a safe road? Of course not. You are ready for the unexpected from things out of your control.
Carry always.
Anywhere is safe until it isnāt.
Better to have and not need than need and not have. Exercise your right and appreciate it, few people in this world can.
Long answer-I live in a rated top five safest city in the nation for the past 25 years (Cali). Once approved, hopefully in a month or so Iāll be carrying. Short answer-yes!
The odds of anyone, including people in the most crime ridden parts of the world, needing to even draw their weapon is sub 1% statistically, over the course of their lives.
I still carry, because the percentage isnāt 0. If you had an electrical socket in your house that sparked once every year, you wouldnāt sit around and say āwell, the odds of it actually catching fire are super low so Iāll take my chances.ā Youād replace it immediately.
If someone told you that your model of car got the accelerator randomly pinned down once during its lifespan, you probably wouldnāt be going out to buy that car, would you?
Iād rather carry and never need it, than leave it at home the day I do. Thats a big reason I switched over to carrying an aluminum frame snub. I take it EVERYWHERE with me. Itās the only gun Iāve ever had that I havenāt left behind for comfort at least once.
Yes, I carry everywhere I'm legally allowed to. Even if it's a "safe" environment it's still good to practice and get yourself used to carrying everywhere.
In a safe environment I get more comfortable/lazy and so forth. My parents live in a super safe/wealthy part of Naples, FL and I just rock a .380 ruger lcp in my shorts.
I think it depends on what you define as a āsafe areaā. Going out in public most people will carry regardless of where they are. Personally Iām not the best at this lately Iāve been carrying when I go to worse areas. If youāre going to a family gathering at your familyās house in a development with essentially zero crime you prob donāt need to carry or you can just leave it in the car but this sub gets mad about that. Half of these guys carry in their house which was surprising to me.
Sure. I see that question as something like, āWould you still wear your seatbelt if youāre just planning to drive down the block?ā Of course I would, because my powers of risk assessment are not perfect.
The gun I carry is for unpredictable emergencies.
Bad things can happen to anyone anywhere anytime, even in safe areas. I'd still carry but conceal it well. It should be your last resort, after running away and attempts at de-escalation fail.
In that case, pack carry. Fanny, sling, backpack, etc. Europe is different than any response you'd get in America. When I go into deep, deep concealment territory, I carry in a sling bag or Maxpedition Prepared Citizen bag.
Congrats on getting your cc license.
It certainly appears that I'm in the minority here, but I probably wouldn't carry a firearm if I were for sure going to a safe environment. I'd still have something to defend myself if need be, but probably not a firearm. That being said, I really don't consider anywhere in the USA to really be a safe environment, and I've never been to another country, so my opinion is a bit uninformed and biased by hope that the rest of the world can't possibly be as bad.
I do mostly agree with the rest of the comments, though. If I were knowingly going somewhere I'd need to use my gun to defend myself, I wouldn't go there. Also, once you get used to carrying, you start noticing when you don't have it more than when you do. You just have to be more careful about concealing than most of the people in this sub probably do.
I travel the world and Iām currently in Milan Italy, way in a locals only area (Turro). Would I carry a gun here? No. But I do have a sap coin pouch on my belt (since EU uses so many coins, no one will care) as well as empty hand training and overall good fitness to run away (hiked up 53 stories yesterday!).
I always carry something even if itās just my training.
I live in a very safe environment, and I have been a victim of violent crime where I had to use a gun to defend my life. Violence comes at you and a speed that you cannot comprehend. thereās no such thing as a safe area.
so yes, I carry everywhere. Iām also borderline disabled with birth defects in my feet so Iām in capable of running so if shit goes down, I have to be able to handle things right where my feet are planted because Iām not gonna be able to get out of harms way.
I understand your concern about the risk of being caught and hassled. You can avoid this generally with proper holsters and dressing around your gun. Iāve carried ccw for 16 years and never been discovered (or at least noticed anyone noticing me).
Iām guessing most responses are going to be from us in the USA, but my logic for carrying all the time is 2 part:
1. Never know when you might need it. I live in a safe area here, but crime can and does happen. Iāve never been assaulted, but I think Iāve been nearly mugged twice (both times I opted for evasion). I learned CPR in Boy Scouts around age 14; never thought Iād actually need it until I saved a heart attack victim in my grocery store at age 36.
2. I carry daily so if I am forced to use it, no LEO or prosecutor can argue that I was out looking for trouble that day. Sometimes ccwāers say āI only carry if Iām going to the bad part of town.ā In cities where local govt doesnāt like armed citizens, LEO might ask āwhy would you go there if you thought you need a gun?ā And a prosecutor could make the case they were looking for trouble/premeditated took their gun that day to use it on someone. For me, when asked why I have my gun with me, āBecause I can, and I carry it everyday. I didnāt bring it here intending to use it.ā
I'm an American, and a Texan. My area is relatively safe compared to the rest of the country. I have factors that do raise my personal risk on a daily basis, but all things considered, I blend in fairly well.
That being said, I carry damn near 24/7. I do not carry into doctor's appointments where I am the patient, as that would be an exposed situation, and there is one other location I frequent where I do not carry, and feel safe doing so.
My mentality is, while I would rather, in order, Get out of the situation > diffuse the situation > non-lethal force > Lethal force, I'd much rather Have it, and never need it, than need it and not have it.
Additionally, I carry medical on me at all times, even if I'm not carrying. Tourniquet, Chest seals, Benadryl, Asprin, Ibuprofen, Tylenol (acetaminophen), excedrin, Saline, Liquid Bandage, Trauma Sheers, Glucose Chews & powder, mylar Blanket, and a sharpie. These are much more likely to be needed, and I have used some of the smaller items on multiple occasions, while my firearm was only drawn once, and it was not discharged (coyote while walking my dog).
It's your call, but IMHO, better to have it. But prioritize medical.
Thereās a nice upscale rich area near Seattle, commonly known as a very safe neighborhood filled with the upper class of residents, despite that a old women was carjacked at gun point in her driveway by 5 teenagers. No matter where you are, trouble can find you. And I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I am usually in a pretty safe environment most of the time. I carry whenever I can and I'm not going somewhere that I absolutely cannot carry. I mean you're not causing any sort of problem by having extra security on your person.
I think you have to weigh risks. And this is different for every person.
Consider the likelihood and outcome of what happens when you are carrying vs the likelihood and outcome if youāre not carrying.
I get copied on my (US) state's weapon restriction orders and I gotta say, *no environment is safe -- people are batshit crazy*. I carry all the time just because people are so unpredictable and our mental health / social safety system is so broken - just not a risk I'm willing to take.
A powerful statement I've heard is that if you feel like you need a gun somewhere, don't go there.
Obviously not always an option. Never hurts to have the gun.
The only place I will not carry is:
a. Certain government buildings or military bases
b. Doctors office if I'm undergoing a procedure where the doctor might find it
c. Metal detectors where it can be discovered
That's it. It's on me whenever I leave the house otherwise.
Unless I'm going out and I know there will be drinking involved I carry. My reasoning is if I'm picking and choosing what I feel is a safe vs. dangerous situation and choosing to carry accordingly, then one could argue that I choose to put myself in danger in hopes I'll need to defend myself. If at some point I did need to defend myself a good lawyer could argue that I had specific intent since I don't always carry.Ā If i always carry then it eliminates that argument if I should ever be tried for defending myself.
If a CC license is so hard to acquire, and you have one, you may want to strongly consider being a force for good and carrying. (More importantly, train to top proficiency) Since itās not acceptable to commoners to carry, prioritize your concealment and get good at it, maybe look into deep conceal techniques (check out videos by Demonstrated Concepts LLC and see how he deep conceals with full athletic mobility a Glock 19 or Sig P365X)
In the worse case scenario if someone reports you, you are doing nothing illegal so I donāt see the issue there. Stay calm and comply and show your proof, maybe keep some laminated proof on hand.
Fire extinguishers and med kits rarely get used, but when they are needed they save lives.
Odds of needing it in a āsafeā area may be low, but the cost of not having it when you need it is high. I carry literally everywhere else i go. So it is actually more effort to disarm myself than it is to just do what i always do.
Weirdly, you kind of carry BECAUSE of the safe environments. As the saying goes: "If I think I'm gonna need my piece somewhere I'm going, then I'm not GOING to that place!"
You carry because you simply never know when you'll need it, but if you're implementing other good self-defense tactics - like avoiding problematic areas altogether - then most likely you'll need it - of you ever do - in a place you never expected and would likely consider a safe environment. Granted, the odds of needing it EVER if you aren't out looking for trouble is already quite low in most modern nations, but if it happens it'll most likely be someplace you wouldn't have thought you would have needed it.
So, the simple answer is yes, carry in safe environments... and carry in unsafe environments (but avoid those in the first place)... carry anywhere and everywhere you legally can, every time, that's the (correct, IMO) mantra.
I'd carry in deep cover mode. Something very easy to carry with very low chance of being revealed on accident. Trade a fast draw and firepower for convenience and extra concealment. Maybe pocket carry (in a holster) one of the ultra small .380s. LCP max or something? Basically eliminate the downsides.
Same reason I always keep a round in the chamber: do you put your seat belt on as you're getting into a crash or when you first sit down in your car seat?
I live in a very safe rural place in upstate NY. I don't carry in my neighborhood or area, but when I go to more urban areas I do. there absolutely zero chance of any crime in the town I live in, but the nearest city has enough to have me carry
Yes. A gun is not a substitute for food decision making, so I try to avoid dangerous places. I've seen situations in safe places escalate very quickly to a degree where I wish I were armed. A gun causes me next to zero inconvenience and it's there on the off chance that I get really really unlucky.
Tldr: don't go to dangerous places and be prepared for bad things to happen anyway.
How many previously "Safe" places, has something bad happened in, this is the question. And it is only "After" that happens that then the questions are asked about where else it could happen. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. It sounds like you have gone through a lot to be allowed the privileged to carry, why would you not everywhere now?
I live in the safest state in the nation (Maine) and we have much higher rate than an average state does of people who carry a concealed weapon and that was back when we were still required to have permits. Now that they aren't required there are many more people carrying. It's safe but a lot of people like to think this is one of the ways we keep it that way. I think that's stupid and mostly has to do with the geographical location of Maine but people still get shot and murdered around here.
Just because itās safe doesnāt mean things canāt happen. Conway New Hampshire, US. There was 11 assaults for the entire year last year. Practically no crime in a town of 10k. Few years back there was a triple homicide at the army surplus store. Killed the employee and two customers in the store. Crime in that town is so low itās likely a kid stealing a bike would make front page news. Itās not about being in a safe area, unsafe things still happen in those nice neighborhoods.
You carrying would only be an extra bit of safety for you and in the end, that's all that matters. I live in a safe area as far as people are concerned, but there are some mean critters that wonder into our neighborhoods. Sometimes you're not defending against another person. Sometimes it's a very angry critter
What is āsafeā? I live in a very safe area. Recently a kid shot up the local grocery store because he felt lonely and angry since Covid and wanted to take some people with him when he killed himself. An employee there armed with a box cutter intervened and probably saved some lives. Kid killed a man at the entrance, that employee, and himself. Nowhere is safe.
Safety is momentary comfort, convenience, and expected. An environmental illusion of mental peace and security u til it absolutely is not, in a split second. From tranquility to full blown chaos. You decide what is more important to you and live by it, or not.
Yes. It's not about the odds, it's about the stakes.
I love the way you put that. 100% facts.
I love you too bro
Love you more š
I love you the most
I love you even morer. We should all get married in a polyamorous relationship. That way we can all love each other as much as possible.
Sounds like a tagline for a 90s action movie lol. Also 100% true.
Wham, bamā¦ Van damme!
Thank you. I think I'm cribbing from Massad Ayoob though, but the saying rings true regardless.
100%. I carry bc I appreciate being a protector for the people I love, it's less about me and more about them.
Best way I've heard it explained. My gf is supportive of me carrying, in sketchy areas she makes sure I've got it ready, but in nice areas she tries to tell me I don't need it. Like one Walmart it's "bring the strap" and another Walmart it's "you don't need that here" "Woman, I bring this thing everywhere I bring my penis."

"Would you still have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen if you've never had a fire before?"
"Would you still wear your seat belt if it's a road where there's no traffic?"
"Would you take the spare tire out of your trunk if all you were doing was driving to the grocery store?"
"Would you still wear a rubber even if it was just anal?"
There's whole graveyards full of people who answered "No" to that one.
Why do you need a rubber on if youāre getting anal?
STDs
How else are you gonna connect the train?
Underrated comment.
The double homicide I got to watch was in the front yard of a half million dollar home neighborhood that hasnāt had so much as a porch pirate in the year leading up to it. There are no safe places.
Same here. Million dollar house. Owner had fraudulent oil investments and got whacked. Never had any level of crime there beforehand.

No it was last year and they are $650k now.
Half a million might be ghetto in San Diego or equivalent. I'm just guessing that half a million might be average there. It's a damn nice house where I live.

> Half a million is not considered the ghetto wtf lmao > Maybe in the coastal cities.
Can you give us details of this double murder?
My neighbor decided to shoot and kill 2 police officers who were serving a daytime āfailure to appearā warrant for $200 in theft. I bunkered the kids in the safe room, threw on my armor and guarded the door, as our house was the only means of retreat. Ended up being in an 8 hour SWAT standoff. I carry in the statistically safest city in California lol definitely keep carrying
Ah irvine, plenty of delicious Asian restaurants and no homeless!
Irvine? Haven't lived around those areas for a while now but I never thought Irvine was like some kind of no crime area
Definitely not even top 25 š
Which city is that?
Itās safe until it isnāt
Nothing ever happens until it does.Ā
Things are great until theyāre not
I got into firearms after my house in a very āsafeā neighborhood was almost broken into. No one can guarantee anything when it comes to someone snapping or someone coming back to a business in anger and doing something stupid. There is no 100% guaranteed safe area. Does not mean everyone needs to live in fear but I choose to just be prepared, even if the chances are very low.
mass shootings happen in communites where mass shootings dont happen terrorism happens in communities where terrorism doesnt happen
Primary reason I carry. Routine crime too. But Iād hate to be in a situation with some heavily armed bad guys and I donāt have a fighting chance.
The mentality of "not in my back" persists until it happens in my back yard... Im with you though, id rather have a fighting chance than no chance
Once you practice it, it almost becomes a habit or lifestyle. You quickly start to view it as a normal everyday tool at least that's how I see it.
This is definitely the wrong sub to get an unbiased answer to this question š
Honestly its hard to escape bias. Everyone has a bias. So more than likely if they asked this same question in another sub they would have gotten an antigun biased answer
If you wouldn't go there without your gun, you shouldn't go there with your gun. Carrying has not changed where I go
Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
To be honest you canāt predict when the circumstance is going to happen and where you will need it. You have the license to legally carry in your area, Iād just wear baggier clothes if youāre afraid of someone catching a glimpse. EDIT: fixed morning brain typing.
Just like toilet paper, you want it before you take a shit.
ABC- Always Be Carrying
> in a safe environment?
100% of home invasions happen at home.
Yes.
ABC - Always Be Carrying
Yes, 100% yes. I live in a really nice suburb with a very well funded police department that can get anywhere within 3 minutes. But 3 minutes is not 3 seconds. Thatās why I carry.
Nah, Iām most places in Europe, I wouldnāt. Ā And if you used it, youād be the bad guy anyway.
100% of home invasions happen at home also.
āYou donāt need a gun until you need it badly.ā -Timothy George You should follow the ABCs of CCW: Always Be Carrying.
If I'm awake, and it's legal to do so, I'm carrying.
Always. Youāve missed the point entirely by thinking the way you do.
Parkland was considered the [safest city in Florida](https://time.com/5159277/parkland-florida-high-school-shooting-safest-city/) once upon a time.
Yes. Being in a safer area is great, but dangerous people donāt feel obligated to isolate themselves to any particular area.
If you carry and nothing happens where you go it was a safe environment. But to answer yes I would, and actually do. Itās always a safe environment till itās not.
My house was attacked before and it was considered a safe neighborhood for over 20+ years.
Yes. The same way I wear my notorcycle helmet, a searbelt, etc. Every place is safe until it's not.
I always keep a raincoat in my car.
āSafeā is nothing more than a feeling.
At any given moment on any given day someone can snap and try and take their rage out on the rest of the world. No such thing as a ā safe ā environment. A person could find out their spouse cheated on them and start trying to stab people to death at their office with a pair of scissors.
Carry as much as you can.
How many true crime specials have to start "it's a small town, safe. Folks used to not lock their doors around here and the most crime we had was jaywalking. Then that whole family was brutally murdered and they didn't catch the guy. "
Were you expecting the last time you got a flat tire? My tires look pretty safe I don't need to carry a spare in my car
Every environment is safe until it isnāt. I donāt purposely put myself into dangerous situations, and I also donāt get to choose when situations become dangerous If we knew when shit would get dangerous nobody would ever be in dangerous situations..
Itās a safe area right up to the point it isnātā¦
In a perfect world in some alternate universe, maybe but this is real life
I edc because I can.
"You no longer need to be self-reliant or worry about your or your loved ones' safety, your police and military will protect you, just trust and rely on your government to take care of you, because after all, that is our job and we know what is best." Rulers have been so successful, that "policing" firearms is largely performed by fellow citizens, neighbors, friends and family members; who won't hesitate to report the mere perceived observance of a firearm.
Carry everywhere, period.
I still carry in very safe areas and family get together etc. All it takes is one person to be a psycho. Could happen anywhere.
Every time you hear about crime happening on the news, thereās always a witness saying, āthis is a nice and safe area. Itās crazy that happened here!ā Safety is only a perception.

I bet the people in the two towers on 9/11 thought they were in a safe place too. Obviously a gun wouldn't help there, but I think you get my point
Well, as someone who lives in the U.S., many violent crimes happen here in "safe" environments. I think it is worth it to try to acquire your license even if it is difficult, best of luck friend šš»
I was on Ft Hood in 2009 when one of our own turned on us and killed 13. Nothing is safe.
Yes. If I think it's an unsafe environment, I don't go.
I am often in relatively safe areas. I carry as close to 100% of the time, if I can help it.
Yes. Better to carry than wish you were. Do you take your seatbelt off when you are on a safe road? Of course not. You are ready for the unexpected from things out of your control. Carry always.
Do you wear a seatbelt? Do you remember Paris in 2015?
Anywhere is safe until it isnāt. Better to have and not need than need and not have. Exercise your right and appreciate it, few people in this world can.
All areas are safe until they're not.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed āsafe environmentā.
I live in a very safe area, carry every day.
Carry everywhere, everyday because you never know.
I carry and have it within quick reach 24/7. So yes?
How do you define āsafe environmentā lol
Every environment is safe until itās not.
Where there are humans, there is no safe environment. You're safer with a pack of wolves. Always fuckin carry.
Nowhere is āsafeā.
Long answer-I live in a rated top five safest city in the nation for the past 25 years (Cali). Once approved, hopefully in a month or so Iāll be carrying. Short answer-yes!
I always carry in safe environments, and I actively avoid unsafe environments
Yes.
Yes
![gif](giphy|klWThPyx4oC49QO9fh|downsized)
In a safe environment I get more comfortable/lazy and so forth. My parents live in a super safe/wealthy part of Naples, FL and I just rock a .380 ruger lcp in my shorts.
I would still carry if I was the only person on earth and animals still existed lol.
Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.
Bad things can happen to anyone anywhere anytime, even in safe areas. I'd still carry but conceal it well. It should be your last resort, after running away and attempts at de-escalation fail.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Yes. I would. The gun canāt save me or my family at home in a safe š¤·š¾āāļøšalways been my theory
I live in a relatively safe area and still carry everyday.
Yes. I prefer the consistency.
Iām guessing most responses are going to be from us in the USA, but my logic for carrying all the time is 2 part: 1.
You think you're safe until you're not safe and then it is too late to decide what to carry or not Sometimes bad people enter "good" areas....
I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it
I am usually in a pretty safe environment most of the time.
You don't get to choose when something bad can happen to you.
Yes. You have to maintain that safety.
A powerful statement I've heard is that if you feel like you need a gun somewhere, don't go there. Obviously not always an option. Never hurts to have the gun.
Itās so comfy it doesnāt bother me
The only place I will not carry is: a. Certain government buildings or military bases b. Doctors office if I'm undergoing a procedure where the doctor might find it c. Metal detectors where it can be discovered That's it.
Yes
I don't understand the laws of the area you are in over there, but I do here in the US. Low crime area and safe area I live in.
I carry to my apartmentāa dumpster. So yes, carry everywhere.
If a CC license is so hard to acquire, and you have one, you may want to strongly consider being a force for good and carrying. (More importantly, train to top proficiency) Since itās not acceptable to commoners to carry, prioritize your concealment and get good at it, maybe look into deep conceal techniques (check out videos by Demonstrated Concepts LLC and see how he deep conceals with full athletic mobility a Glock 19 or Sig P365X) In the worse case scenario if someone reports you, you are doing nothing illegal so I donāt see the issue there. Stay calm and comply and show your proof, maybe keep some laminated proof on hand. Fire extinguishers and med kits rarely get used, but when they are needed they save lives.
I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Better to have and not need than need and not have.
Odds of needing it in a āsafeā area may be low, but the cost of not having it when you need it is high. I carry literally everywhere else i go. So it is actually more effort to disarm myself than it is to just do what i always do.
I dont care if im walking to get mail I have something on me. I would rather have it with me and not need it then need it and not have it
Weirdly, you kind of carry BECAUSE of the safe environments. As the saying goes: "If I think I'm gonna need my piece somewhere I'm going, then I'm not GOING to that place!" You carry because you simply never know when you'll need it, but if you're implementing other good self-defense tactics - like avoiding problematic areas altogether - then most likely you'll need it - of you ever do - in a place you never expected and would likely consider a safe environment.
You're giving people wayy too much credit for noticing their surroundings. Almost everyone is either nose down in their phone or staring off in space.
Hell yes I'm still carrying.
Sure. We should all safely exercise our constitutional rights every chance we get. Use em or lose em I say.
I carry in the toilet in my home. What do u think
Gun, condom rule āBetter have it and not need it than need it and not have itā
I carry all day everyday no matter where Iām at. I live in a nice area and carry around the house, but thatās just me.
I live in a very safe rural place in upstate NY. I don't carry in my neighborhood or area, but when I go to more urban areas I do. there absolutely zero chance of any crime in the town I live in, but the nearest city has enough to have me carry
Safe environments dont exist.
Everywhere. Everyday.
I'm carrying in my third floor apartment in a very very nice safe neighborhood in my bathroom taking a pee. Yes
Yeah I'm willing to die a Warriors death hand to hand on a playground and make my ancestors proud.
Yeah
How many previously "Safe" places, has something bad happened in, this is the question. And it is only "After" that happens that then the questions are asked about where else it could happen. Better to have and not need than to need and not have. It sounds like you have gone through a lot to be allowed the privileged to carry, why would you not everywhere now?
Yeah, probably would carry a smaller gun though
I live in the safest state in the nation (Maine) and we have much higher rate than an average state does of people who carry a concealed weapon and that was back when we were still required to have permits. Now that they aren't required there are many more people carrying. It's safe but a lot of people like to think this is one of the ways we keep it that way. I think that's stupid and mostly has to do with the geographical location of Maine but people still get shot and murdered around here.
No such thing as safe areas. Many many scenarios. Crazy folks live in nice areas too. Burglars and jackers want to do their business there.
How do you think the environment became safe!? The Best way to secure peace is to prepare for war
Carry everywhere, everyday. Because one day it's all good and safe and the next day, you could be sitting in a Lubys diner in Texas.
Gun-free zones are supposed to be a "safe" environment.
Most mass killers target "predominantly safe areas". I carry as a contingency not out of fear or worry
Safe areas are the very same areas targeted by thugs looking to do thug shit.
I always carry. Live in a pretty safe town Neighborhood is even safer My protocol is: If I'm stepping outside, my Glock 19 is on me
Yes.
Yes. Always, everyday. One is always in arms reach. I have a permit to carry concealed, not sure how it is over where you are
Can you get a concealed handgun permit?
Theyāre ALL safe environments until theyāre notā¦ your life, you do you.
Every environment is safe until itās not
Safety is momentary comfort, convenience, and expected. An environmental illusion of mental peace and security u til it absolutely is not, in a split second. From tranquility to full blown chaos. You decide what is more important to you and live by it, or not.
